Ps3 dual shock contoller question. - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This may sound stupid, but i bought the controller not knowing you need to buy the charger seperate. Anyone who has used this controller for your tablet, do i need to buy an adapter to hook up the controller with a usb initially?? Thats what the instructions say, just wanna be clear.

Just buy a USB to Mini-B cable and you can connect/charge it with your pc. Make sure your pc installs the correct usb driver for it because it needs to communicate before getting the correct current/voltage.
You would need the cable anyway to reprogram with SixaxisPairTool.

For charging on pc, all 4 leds will flash while charging. They will switch off when done.
I presume you'd want to use it wirelessly using bluetooth. For bluetooth connection take a look at Sixaxis
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&hl=en
Install procedure including how to pair etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqiqLmxI9cg
You need to be rooted. If not rooted you can use a wired controller.

Ok so i changed the blue tooth address on the controller to the address on my tablet with the tool kit. I am already rooted. When i plug the controller to the pc it shows the same address. I have the sixaxis app from the play store. I have ime bypassed. I hit start within the app. Then i hit the power/ps button on the controller and nothing happens. The controller doesnt blink any lights or anything. When i just plug the controller to my pc it blinks all 4 lights for a little bit then stops (assuming its charged) not sure what im doing wrong or if my controller just isnt working. Just got the controller in the mail today. I admit tho, when i first got it i was stupid and excited and plugged it into the wall. If anyone thinks thats what killed it ill return it and get a new one. I just wanna make sure its not something im missing. Thanks in advance.

The first thing is try with Dead Trigger. It has native support. Go to options etc. The mapping is very small and hard to see.
Go to Preferences->Gamepad Settings->Enable Gamepad. Make sure it's ticked.
Go to Keyboard Emulation->Bypass IME->untick.
Report back your results.
p.s. this might be silly but don't substitute letter o with zero for address.

Ok, so i checked the address and if i put an o in place of a 0 (zero) then its invalid and wont let me update the address. Anyway, i downloaded dead trigger and weng i to preferences in sixaxis controller and checked enable Gamepad and unchecked bypass ime. Tried learning in my controller and still no lights or anything when i hit the power button.

I think you've done everything correctly. The only other option is to try with another controller to make certain or return the one you have. Sorry mate.

Ok, i ordered and recived a new controller. And its still not working. Ive come to the conclusion that it is user error. I think its the SixaxisPairTool im using. It allows me to change the bluetooth address bu when i un install it, it has an error Saying this is not supported on this platform. Ive tried downloading the 32bit version for windows xp a bunch and it keeps showing this 64 verio is not compatible with your platform.... At this point i would be great full if someone could just shoot me a link for the correct download for my platform and/or walk me through this. I feel and sound like a little kid who needs their hand held but I really want this to work!! Please anyone!

Im running the latest revolver 1.3.1 and qas wondering if I can pair over Bluetooth? I dont have a usb adapter
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Well you can buy "sixaxis controller" app from the market. ($5 i guess when i bought it). You just need a usb cable to connect ps3 controller to your desktop to change bluetooth settings. Then you're good to go.
you do not need it anymore, it can be done without root (i am rooted). I just connected it via usb turned on bluetooth and it paired itself automatically for me.

K sounds good thanks alot is there a guide for such a procedure?

Wait this message was directed towards me or alakhai? If me, then all you need to do is buy the app from the market.
Then download "sixaxispairtool" on your desktop.
Connect your ps3 controller to your desktop (using ps3 usb cable) and change "local bluetooth address" to your tablet's bluetooth using the tool.
(You can find your tablet's LBA at the bottom when you launch the app)

Worth it? ( keyboard dock)

Is it worth it to spend $150 to get the keyboard dock and why?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
For me: yes. I'm a sysadmin which means I sometimes need some specific app, or really need a mouse and keyboard combo. I've got ASUS' included rebranded Splashtop remote HD installed on my home PC, and with the dock it's just like I'm at home.
The dock (for me) really takes the tablet from a neat toy/time waster to a productive tool, it really replaced my laptop.
^this works for me as well
What I like about the dock
Keyboard is much easier to use for typing than the "virtual one".
Keyboard Shortcuts and specialized function keys (e.g. Home, Menu, Media Controls)
Looks/Feels like a netbook computer.
Battery boost
Extra SD Card Slot
It closes to protect the screen.
Very glad I bought it.

Yes but it still works even if the battery is depleted. Yes it has a usb and you can use a usb hub to connect more than one peripheral.
yes, it adds a whole new dimension to your tablet. plus the extra battery life, full size USB port, and full size SD card slot. it can't be beat.
The only thing I don't like is how top heavy it is.

Yes. I usually just connect the tablet to the dock and plug it in. Both pieces get charged at the same time.
There's a USB connector on the side too.

Instead of connecting the charger cable to the tablet you connect it to the dock when the tablet is docked. Nothing special.

I waited about a week to get the dock only because I was broke lol. Went to gamestop today and traded in a bunch of stuff to get the dock and a case.
I am very happy and impressed. I need a laptop at all times for work and to log into my home pc, and this just cut inches and weight from me carrying my laptop in its bag on my back while driving my scooter lol.
With the usb port I can either connect my external HDD or controller, then you have another sd card slot on top of that. Went from 32gb to 80gb lol.
All the tablet specific buttons and everything make it totally worth the $150. Now it just looks like a netbook but better.
I found one online for $131 but i might go trade stuff at game stop and get it for $150
Actually $160 with taxes :/

After using Sixaxispairtool. can you still connect wirelessly to ps3?

just want to make sure before i go ahead and change master bluetooth address.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda premium
I'm pretty sure when you plug the controller into the usb on the ps3 and hit the ps3 button it'll pair back to that.
Just like when you take your controller to a friends place you need to pair it with that ps3 using the above method.
I'll give it a quick try on mine I've got 4 controllers - do I just need the app? No special leads or anything?
Edit: Looks like I need a USB cable to pair it to the tablet so I can't check that part for you but I was able to pair with the ps3 again after I changed the bluetooth master address to the tablets one.
I hope that helps you.

Yea in order to use it agin to ps3, you needto plug it in using the mini usb to the ps3 ,but that will change the master address back to ps3's...you then need to change it again to the tablet's master address...
I'm pretty sure my first edit covered that but thanks for valuable input there.

[Q] Has anyone managed to get any gamepad working, natively?

I got my OTG USB cable and mice etc. seem to work fine. Tried the wired xbox controller and while it is detected via the BT joystick test app, it wont work in any apps.
Tried another generic USB gamepad today and nothing, not even recognised in the test app.
So has anyone managed to get a gamepad working natively? The main reason I ask if that my mum likes to play the odd old arcade game (cool huh) and she would need gamepad support and wont bother if she has to pay out and configure another it all via another app!
thanks
guess not
I have gotten a wireless sixaxis controller to work via bluetooth, but my wired xbox controller will not work.

yeah if I could get one cheap then it would be great, my mum wont be up for spending a fortune
I have the same problem here. In my case I have generic USB controller and totally the tab and BT joystick test app cannot detect it. Did you manage to make it work?
For those who were able to get the game controller to work on tablet, which ROMS have the sixaxis program installed?

ps3 controller and s4?

Hey, so just now i got my OTG cable from samsung, and i connected my controller and i use padkey settings app to use the controlelr with, but the app nor games will recognize the right stick... does that only work if the phone is rooted?
Cause i do not want to root my phone at all :/
If you don't root then your options are limited. Using the otg cable you may or may not have all the features you need.
For example, Dead trigger works perfectly via otg, as does Bards Tale. Modern Combat 4 on the other hand both analog sticks don't work and the buttons aren't mapped.
You need to Root and get Sixaxis and everything pretty much works because you can map touch screen inputs to the controller.

Ok cause if sixaxis is the same as the one on iphone is then is it so that for example in fps it doesnt auto turn around when you hold the right stick to either sides?
