So I flashed CM 10.1 nightly 20130101 on mt GT-P5113. Its alright, but without any overclocking built in its no good to me, so I want to go back to stock. I did make a backup in CWM before flashing the new rom. How do i go about this?
Never mind, i got it.
How did you do it sir? Just restore from backup without wiping data? Thanks.
Backup brings the old data and system partition so no wipe

Hi all
my sensation was running on senseay rom and the XE 1.5ghz stock kernel, i decided to go back to the sensation 1.2 stock kernel.
after i flashed the room and restored the data only, the device turns on but restarting the splash screen again and again.
without restoring the data, device starts and functions normally, and when i restored the whole back up and it worked just fine.
whats the problem and how can i fix it?
appreciate your help!
The data partition is normally incompatible between one ROM and another, unless they are very similar (eg a minor upgrade or bugfix to an existing ROM version).
You can use something like titanium to backup user apps and data, but you can't restore system data to a completely different ROM without causing problems.
you are right, but i didn't switch roms, i reflashed the same one.
i just wanted to go back to the stock kernel.

Restore your backup and boot.
Than reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik cache and cache partition and flash stock kernel.
If you don't have stock kernel you can flash a custom kernel (faux or bricked) and turn the clockspeed down to 1.2.
Or maybe you find stock here on XDA.

Sorry - I misread.
You should be able to simply flash the kernel without needing to reflash the rom or restore any data.
Go into recovery, clear cache and dalvik cache, then flash the kernel. Reboot and all should be well.
Hi,
Quick question, I currently have a TAB 2 - 7" that I have sold to someone. Before I hand the device over I want to ensure my contents is wiped.
What exactly is the process of that on a rooted device? I am running JB AOKP, I don't necessary want to put the device back to the stock rom I'd leave it rooted just want all my personal info of it.
Help is greatly appreciated!
Go to recovery > format system/data/cache and internal sd card and flash the same rom

Okay so I do need to reflash the rom after doing the format of system/data and cache?
Can I put a more recent ROM on it as well just to get it up to date for the next person?
Sure, important is the reflash of a ROM, after the format of /system is no OS on the tab.

Great, thank you.
Any recommendations on a stable ROM that's running JB 4.2.2? I guess thats the latest/last release for these tablets for JB?
CM10.1 is stable enough and its on 4.2.2, latest stockroms have 4.1.2.

** Gotta remember to download the CM zip and Gapps to the internal sd card prior to doing all of this!!**
I would do the zips on external sd, you do a wipe of your internal sd

Excellent idea!! I guess the entire wiping of data I am still confused about what exactly gets wiped or not, does clockwork stay?
Does that mean I need to put clockwork on there as well? Or just the new rom and gapps?
Clockwork stays, no worries

Okay.. I'll report back tonight how bad I make out
LOL thanks for all your help! Really appreciated
So I did a format system, format data and format cache.
Prior to that I had placed the zip files on the external card.
While still in clockwork I go to 'choose zip from external sdcard' and click to install the CM10.1 but it once it starts I get a error saying..
Cant open external_sd/cm-10.1.... (bad)
Whats up lol? Bad download?
Seems so, try other Download/ROM

I booted into recovery. Did a format of system/data/cache.
I am still in CWM never rebooted or anything yet since I did the format.
Put your sd on your handy and then put the rom.zip on your sd

Does the SD card require some sort of special formatting?
No
ok, believe I got it.
placed the card into my blackberry re-transferred the rom and gapps zip to the sd card. Moved sd card back into the device. Mounted it inside CWM.
The stuff installed, I did a data wipe/factory reset as the instructions said. Now its booting into CyanogenMod
Will report shortly with results!

Flashfire does not seem to work right without SuperSu, at least I had the same experience as you. I flashed back the stock recovery and let the normal updater do it's jobs.
It doesn't seem to care that a custom Kernel and magisk is installed, worked perfectly.

How do I flash the stock recovery mate?
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet K1 using Tapatalk
I find it easy to flash the full update through TWRP.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
I flashed successfully using TWRP as well, and everything is working fine.
Just downloaded the version posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74693612&postcount=6
Then booted to TWRP, flashed the file, then flashed Magisk (or SuperSU if you prefer) to root. Root before rebooting after the update, otherwise TWRP may be replaced with stock recovery.
I did backup using Titanium, before updating. Your data should remain intact. But it's good to backup beforehand, just in case.
You do not need to download images from the site. Simply allow your tablet to download the update. Once downloaded, it is located in /system/data/data/com. nvidia. ota/app_download - move it to /system/sdcard/Download, run the tablet in recovery and flash the downloaded zip file.
