I hope not long. it doesn't appear that they have released the source on the site yet. Just an announcement. I hope they release the source! Looks really cool to me!

looks promising.

They said that they will release flashable images for the galaxy nexus. Maybe we can get a port from there? Idk much about roming and such...

Shouldn't be too hard to port.
If not, people will create CyanogenMod-esque device trees for the S3 and other popular phones.

I am sorry I had a laugh at your original post.
All the words were so jumbled up and it was quite funny, but at least you have a 2nd language. I only speak English - never learned another language - so you are streets ahead of me in the foreign language department.
Apologies
EHHHHH WHY would you want to pull such an act of f*ckery on a poor defenseless Nexus S? WebOS looks nice and all, but REALLY? I'd rather run windows mobile 5.5 on my Nexus S... (Maybe even 5.0 lol.)

Android is filled with options. If a developer wants to pursue it, then let them.
Don't like it? Don't look at this thread then. Some people would use the ROM to play around with.
I personally wouldn't use it, but another ROM wouldn't hurt either.

TouchWiz and Sense are not "apps" they're customized versions of Android OS.
We saw Android run on iDevices. We saw Android run on WP devices (HTC HD7 or something).
That's like saying.. ever seen a PC run Linux?
Anything is possible. As long as somebody puts the time and effort into it. Is it worth putting so much time and effort into WebOS? Not at all. Would it be nice to try out? Sure.
Facts are fact, we have seen Android on iDevices and Windows phones simply because Android is open source. WebOS is not, and without the source code its not gonna happen.

I too would love to see WebOS on the Nexus S. Android is nice and all but sometimes it's nice to take a break from it.

I've seen the Nexus Prime

I've been seeing the Nexus Prime (Verizon) the last couple of weeks on site. Haven't been able to test it because it's not my department, but this morning I was able to snap a picture of it.
I figure since this thing is getting announced in 10 days it doesn't matter.
Enjoy.
For real? Wow awesome Voted to front page
Any specs? And buttonless? And touchwiz?
niccce subscribed for more info
Can you confirm the specs?
Guy sounds truthful, But any info on why there are no buttons? Seems wierd, And why does a Nexus device have Touchwiz?
I can confirm it's a TI OMAP 4460, 4.65" display (720) but the software buttons aside its really 4.5". Buttons disappear in-app, movies, and browsing. HDMI out for full mirroring, 2000 mAh battery. That's all I know. I haven't been able to play with it.
The phone I took a picture of is the final build of Verizon's version. I have no info on other carriers.
There is touchwiz on it because Verizon's version of it will have it. It will also receive bloat before release. There are no buttons on it because Android 4.0 doesn't use them.
There was an app list that was released a few days ago that had no bloat on it. That might or might not be an accurate list, but I can assure you that bloat will be added before release. It will also have Touchwiz.
My impression is that Verizon's version of the Prime is more like a Galaxy S II than anything else, but it's super fast and has an awesome display.
Debunked already by Han Solo on AF

OP be trolling. That's an SGS2. And that's not the prime.

Is the Verizon GS3 still worth getting?

I was going to get this phone when it launched but gave up due to the locked bootloader issue. Now that is resolved and there are JB rom's out as well.
But now the next Nexus is probably only 2 months away and will likely ship with Key Lime Pie. Would you get this phone today, or wait?
If you're fine with your Nexus wait for the next one Imo

Only for Android
Nexus devices and manufacturer devices are 2 different monsters. To ask if the SGS3 is still worth getting it really the wrong question to ask. It is the best phone out right now so how would it not be worth getting?
If the latest software is your thing which I thought was mine until I owned the GNEX and realized how many problems that phone had, then maybe wait to see what the next Nexus device has to offer. Even then, the S3 will still be one of the top dogs for Android I am sure.
The S3 is an amazing device and I am happy I made the switch to it. S3 with ICS is better then my GNEX was with JB. Even with the great software it had on it it did not fix the terrible camera, horrible screen, bad radio's and horrific battery life.

The Note is either a device you want or don't. I sure know I don't. I cannot imagine lugging that thing around with me all day.
One good thing about the Note though is it should stop a lot more people from texting and driving : )
I'd go for the SGIII, feature wise and development wise it's going to be one of the best phones for a while IMO.

The Note II is not an option
I'm just a little worried that the phone development may not be as active as the other GS3 versions or the Nexus, or that VZW might find a way to lock it down again.

From what im seeing the Verizon version is the most active GS3 section.

If I were you I would wait for the next Nexus phone, since you know the development is gonna be huge. I really wanted to wait for the next Nexus, but I lost patience and got the S3. Having said that the S3 is a beast of a phone, I love it. But again if you can wait then the best bet would be to get the next Nexus.
I think ur safe either way, the Nexus always has great development but I had a terrible experience with the Galaxy Nexus, so I can't see going to another Nexus device. Even when it comes out I can't see it being any better than the S3, I picture it basically being the S3 with aosp android
Look at it like this, the Galaxy Nexus was still made by Samsung, as you seen from the lastest Nexus they weren't willing to give up the best features like camera and processers. I'm sure they are not going to give google the best features making the s3 obsolete. When the Nexus came out the s2 was still just as good if not better to be honest.
The software was the big difference between the Nexus and S2. Once the S3 gets Jelly Bean... Oh damn
10 million and counting
With the number of GS3's sold and the popularity of the ROM's (judged by post activity, download activity, etc) I would say that development for the GS3 will continue for some time. The hardware is certainly there to support it. With the unlocked bootloader there is nothing stopping the development from improving for at least the rest of this year if not into 2013. You will be happy with this phone or I'll eat my hat.
Yeah unless you are really after AOSP I would get the S3. It's a great phone and I highly doubt the next Nexus will have much better, if better at all, specs. The nexus phones don't tend to be next gen spec wise just newest software and pure AOSP builds.
The S3 is the best phone on VZW, has Verizon officially confirmed it will be carrying the next Nexus?
Google just released JB and only 1 phone has it officially and you're saying they're going to ship a phone in 2 months with KLP on it? Where do people get this stuff? Jesus.

True. Although for me I just want something new and shiny because I get bored. Arguably I didn't need to upgrade from my S3 but I wanted to. That said, it's not like I am looking for my next handset yet. Loads of life in my 5 left over.
I always get a little jealous when a couple of newer phones than mine have come out/are coming out. I have no desire whatsoever for a Galaxy S4 or HTC One M8, but the Sony Z2 is shaping up to make me a bit envious. Ultimately though I know my N5 is going to give me a far easier ride when it comes to modding it, stuff just works properly on it.

That there. That is why I buy nexus devices. You don't have to jump though hoops to modify it. I had an HTC one before this and you had to go through HTC dev and then gain s off and everything else. Heaven forbid if you need to go back to stock for repair purposes. Pain in the ass.

True, however it would be nice to see what the devs would like to see on their upcoming phone....and from the latest news, it looks like the Nexus 6 is going to be announced at the end of july. Not to mention, more than likely, with iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy s5 about to hit in mid-end of April, Google will want to release something to compete with the hype. Every article I read stated it would at least have a 2k video display and would follow the lines of the nexus 5 with the upcoming LG G3...so another clone from what I understand, and if that's the case, it looks pretty promising.
If you want to continue this discussion, please use the existing thread HERE.

Compare the thread titles. This is for April lol.
Can anyone one tell me what it is about MM that has you feeling all this discontent? I'm confused, is MM going to transform your phone into this vastly improved device? Is this a groundbreaking upgrade frome the current operating system? Someone please fill me in because I want something lame to be mad at.

Outside of permissions control, what do we get in MM that we do not already have? I can understand Nexus users clamoring for it as they don't have half of the features out of the box as OEM devices but why us? Further, where did this notion that Samsung drops support of its flagships within a year come from. I have used Samsung devices including an S3 (ICS to KK), N3 (JB to Lollipop), and N4 (KK to at least MM) and all have been supported for 2 plus years. The Note 5 will get the same treatment.
Although I don't totally agree with those people who get all up-in-arms about not having the update, I can see the main point (at least I think): it may not bring super increased functionality or any brand new features, but the principal alone is what makes it frustrating.
Samsung, Tmobile, whoever it is should ensure a device, that is hardly 6 months old mind you, gets the newest update in a timely matter. There is no reason a phone released two years ago (HTC M8) should have MM before the Note 5. That's just simply not right.

In other news, its not about being upset at people wanting the update as much as it is about people creating threads to talk about the damn thing.
This is the same topic repeated over and over. This is pretty much crossed the line into spam.
I see all the other versions that got MM and they all seem to be having issues.
I'm fine waiting if ours comes nearly bug free.

You're absolutely right brother, but watch out! We have update haters that'll cling to your thread and troll about how stupid it is to want to update your Note 5.
Samsung and T-Mobile forever lost the little respect I had left for them. The best thing to do is to use your Note 5 as a paperweight, because it died the moment you purchased it.
I also decided to make all future purchases with Apple. Apple's doing things right as of lately.
