UMS on Jelly Bean? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings XDA,
I have a chromebook, and I would really like to transfer files between my two devices. Does anyone know if there is a way to get USB mass storage enabled on Jelly Bean? I have an android phone running Froyo and I think that UMS is just more convenient for me because it is compatible with all my USB enabled devices.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MTP only way to get it working, as far I understand you have on you Chromebook Linux - so it should be possible to get mtp working.

[Q] ANDROID USB Master driver

Is it possible to develop a simple ANDROID USB master driver able to manage an external USB device sending simple data to a running ANDROID APP?
Yes it is possible, but not easy.
It would have to be developed for each phone.
I know they are working on one for the i9000 and i think there is an experimental version out for the nexus? or desire?.

[Q] Any chance to reanimate connect-to-Ad-Hoc-wifi-feature for ICS?

To use the internet connection from my pc I installed an ad-hoc-wifi-network on the pc.
But since ICS, Android is not even able to see ad-hoc-wifis. It worked with Android 3.x.
Is there any chance to reenable or develop this feature for Android 4.0?
That would be nice for adb-over-network and to save 3g-traffic.

510 rooted / CWM / StockROM / not visible via USB under Linux

Hi all,
the Acer 510 contains the Stockrom, which is rooted and CWM is installed. If I connect the the Tablet via USB with W7, I can see the internal and external SD-Card. If I connect the same tablet under Linux (Suse 11.4), the tablet / filesystem is unknow and could not be mounted
Normaly I see every Android Device under Linux and can mount this one without any problems , so that I 've an access to the SD-Cards.
Does someone has seen the same issue and hopefully has a solution for this one?
Since ICS the protocol used is MTP and linux is not familiar whith it
take a look at this article, it will help you even if it's written fo ubuntu

Tablet doesn't use Mass Storage mode but MTP which you have to setup on your Linux machine.
Ubuntu tutorial (required packages should also work on other distros)
Alternative (I've never heard about this before TBH)
THX !
I'll try it on evening and let you know
Before you proceed in futher steps, did you try connecting the tablet to the Linux machine with USB debugging off? (Win XP for example, cannot use the A510 as MTP if usb debugging is on.)
Even if you get it to work, don't expect somethign good. The Support for MTP is really bad in most Linux distros. probably because MTP is a Microsoft thing. I got it to work once and all i could do was copy small files in already existing folders. Creating folders or copying large files always resulted in a force unmount.
I agree with you that why I only use FTPserver instead now
Simplest alternative to MTP- QtADB, I know it wasn't updated for over a year but worked for me (various 2.1-4.0 firmwares and hardware)

[Q] How to enable msc-mode in latest CM10 on Xperia J?

Hi!
Im running the latest CM10-Version (FXP211) from FreeXperiaProject on my Xperia J. I searched the hole settings-menu for an option to enable USB mass storage mode. When I plug in the USB-cable there are only the options "MTP" and "PTP". Where can I enable the mass storge mode? Or is there really no msc-mode in CM10 for the Xperia J?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, as far as I know, MSC capability was removed from stock android since ICS.
I've tried many solutions, but none worked. (It is pain in the neck on Linux, where MTP support is close to nonexistent).
For now, i'm using playstore apps syncing via ssh, and sometimes USB debug and adb push from android-sdk

[Q] make USB storage mode default?

Hi All,
I recently rooted my SGS2 with I9100 4.1 neatrom v6.3 extra-lite, (since i dont use most of g-apps)
The mass storage mode was set default and was working fine until one day i connected using MTP mode.
Now the mass storage mode requires to be selected everytime from USB utilities. How to fix it as default?
thanks.
I dont think you can. I dont remember seeing it in the stock rom, so unless its a feature of the custom rom youre using, i doubt you can do it.
On another note: a update to 4.4 Kitkat should increase performance. 4.1 is rather old after all and there are plenty of 4.4 based roms out there
