[Q] Lockscreen Text Message and Missed Calls gone after update - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Just updated my GS3 to 4.1.1 about an two hours ago. Everything seemed great with the exception that when I receive text messages or i miss a call they no longer appear on the lock screen like they did before the update. I would be able to swipe the text or the missed call on the lock screen to go directly to it. I've tried everything I could think of to fix this problem. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help.
-Mike

Please search before you ask questions. This has been answered many times....
use Root Explorer to look in "/system/csc" you should see a file named "customer.xml". Rename it to "customer.xml.bak" and this is brings back the lockscreen notification bubbles

Making a tweak so only a few messages show in conversation texts?

Currently i recieve lots of texts, i've noticed that I can not reply straight away when my text messages are set to show like a conversation because my htc hd 2 has to load all the texts. I was wondering if someone could make a tweak where it only showed the last 5 or 10 messages so i can reply instantly
Yes. 2nd that. That is the only problem with HD2 now for me
would appreciate this too
I've had a quick look at the registry, but couldnt find anything useful.
I dunno if its set in a manila-file or in the messagingapplication itself.
Would be nice to tweak this...
+1 to this feature,
with my HTC P3600 I had sms routing and it only showed the 10 last messages,
if you wanna see older messages you could press, 'see history',
+1 . will be great that tweak
Awesome, glad to see some people agree! I have no idea how to do it so...

One way to overcome the delay until a fix comes out, is as soon as you open the conversation, click 'send' and a warning window pops up asking if you want to send a blank text, select 'no' and there you have the whole conversation loaded instantly. Plus I noticed last night when I disabled the sense ui and installed Spbmobile shell 3.5.2, the Htc messaging app will still take a while to load the conversation but at least you can type out your reply while its doing it.

Oh i see, thanks! I will try the blank text thing for now
I tend to read my sms from manila then click the "new sms" icon and basically write a new sms rather than clicking reply. Until a fix is found I have found this the quicker way to reply to sms.
Just as soon as you open the conversation, click 'tap here to compose' and you'll be able to compose. But be quick
Why should we work on things that HTC is supposed to FIX [email protected]!$

OR... you can click on "Send" and then cancel and its all done. Works like a charm.

[Q] Annoying message templates on Stock Xperia E Rom

I have this problem with my current callscreen.
Problem - Whenever I take out the phone from my pocket to receive an incoming phone call, The messaging templates from below get dragged up and a message template gets sent before I can even answer the call!
It's annoying.
Any fix for this? A new caller screen? or modified phone.apk without messaging templates?
Thanks in advance.

My problem is I don't want it.
I want to remove those message templates.
because they get dragged up and sent (while I take out my ringing phone from my pocket) before I even get to answer the phone.
Yes you can remove the text.
Oh oh,I remember,it's somewhere near fixed dialing numbers something.
There is no way to change that, that's sony ui.
Just remove the text from messages.
I don't think the message will be sent if you by mistake select a empty text.
Plus I don't know if there is a solution.
Switch to cm11

Thanks man. I got it.
phone settings > call settings > select SIM > select SIM 1> reject calls with messages.
Cleared it all and it works.
As for cm11. there is no dual SIM support!

No new text notification while screen is on and in conversation

I have had the M8 since release and I've always had the issue of no new notification, if I receive a text while the screen is on and I'm still in the current conversation. Example: I'll text someone back, put the phone down without turning the screen off but don't check it unless I hear the notification go off. I'll get a new text but I won't receive a notification (vibrate, ringer or LED).
I've tried 8SMS and Hangouts and the issue is still there. I've tried to search for any solutions but nothing has pointed me to a similar thread (could be keywords I'm using). For now, I try to hit the home button when I'm finished sending my text in hopes I would get the notification.
Can somebody point me to a fix or suggest a fix? I'm rooted and s-off'd but running stock ROM.

By any chance. Do you use sms backup and restore? I know that when I use it, that specific app forces me to set the restore app as my default sms app and I don't get any text notifications.

I used it originally to transfer texts over but I use SMS Backup+ daily to auto back to my Gmail account.
I get notifications but if I receive texts after I text someone without hitting the home button, I don't receive a notification.

[Q] Hangouts not always giving notification of recieved message

I have posted here but recieved no answer. I figured my question belongs here anyway, so I won't bump the other thread.
I am trying to use Hangouts as my default SMS app (It is also currently the only SMS app installed on my device) because I do like it. However I noticed that sometimes I don't get any notification when I recieve a text message, no vibration, nor sound nor notification in the status bar. As a result, I miss quite a lot of texts. Notice that I do recieve those texts, if I check the app they are there, text bold to indicate they are not yet read. I just don't get the notification. Also, most of the time I do get the notifications without a problem. So to be clear, this is about some SMS's, not about all.
As far as I know this happens when I recieve the message very shortly after I put down my phone (my routine: send text, press 'backbutton' once to get in the hangouts overview, and then I press power to shut of the screen and put the phone down.) If I get a message let's say within half a minute of me turning of the screen I won't have a clue I recieved the message until I go look in hangouts to check. This happens often when someone is quick to respond to my own message, but could maybe be happening with other messages I recieve in that time. I don't think this happens to messages I recieve when the screen has been off for a time, but I can't say that with certainty.
I have a HTC One S currently running CM11, but I had this problem on stock ROM too. However never with the HTC stock messaging app.
I have found similar problems here on the forums, but no satifying answers. I hope someone has a solution?

Incoming call notification

When I receive a phone call, the phone displays either 1 or 2 options.
Option 1: Regular notification where i can drag the phone icon to answer or decline, which is easy.
Option 2: It displays like the screenshot below. Nothing happens when I tap on the DISMISS or ANSWER. The only way to take a call is to slide the notification left or right to dismiss it, then pull down the notification center and click there. It is far too much work.
My LG G3 does not have that problem. Is it a bug? Does anyone have this problem. and how do I fix or avoid this?
Thanks.
UPDATE: I just tried reboot it, and it worked. Now I can touch DISMISS/ANSWER. Not sure if it will acting up again.
I never saw that. But I switched to a different launcher within an hour of getting the phone and may never have received a call during that time.

I get that too didnt realize it was a bug just an annoyance
Yeah I get that one one too sometimes and not sure why. Usually I screw it up and ditch the caller on accident when I get this notification bar for an incoming call. I hate it!
How did you enable that incoming call banner?
I always get option 1
Are you using the default phone app or hangouts

I use the default phone app.
And I don't think this has anything to do with launcher as I just changed to NOVA but problem still persists.
