That's the problem. WiFi is there when I boot up, but I lose it within a few minutes.
The label is the router, which works for other wireless connections in my house and which is sitting 3 feet away from me as I type this, is "not in range."
The phone won't let me switch to static from DHCP (save-connect greys out when I try it)
It just started a few days ago, after I switched ROMS, but the problem remains the same regardless of which ROM I use... and the problem did not start immediately with the ROM change.
I changed radios and so forth, but this problem appeared several DAYS after I did that.
I've spent hours looking for solutions (I'm apparently not the only one with this problem) but have come up with nothing.
Are there other radios/modems out there to look at or install? Can I go back to the stock radio/modem, and if so, where might that be?
(UPDATE: I reflashed the stock (VRLK3.modem)... and it didn't find wifi at all; went back and reflashed to the VRBLK3_rpm_and_modem.zip back to the same problem. Finds wifi when you boot it up... connects for a couple of minutes and then, a few moments later, "not in range." )
(UPDATE 2: fired up an old Belkin with no security, and the phone seems to be holding the Belkin signal while the Actiontec that I've been using falls off the WiFi Analyzer.
Meanwhile, all other wifi stuff in the house that's connected to the Actiontec continues to be locked on to that router with a strong signal. But on the WiFi Analyzer, it just pops up briefly, and then drops off while the Belkin stays steady.)
Thanks for the help!
Bump.

I dont know if anyone is experiencing this but randomly my G Tablet goes insane with the wifi. It goes into an almost infinite loop of turning wifi on, scanning, connecting, and disconnecting. It doesn't happen often just that when it does it becomes nearly impossible to correct.
This happened on my first G Tablet running TnT Lite 2.2. I had returned that one and recently this one has begun go do that too on TnT Lite 2.4. It has happenned in three different networks. The only remedy seems to turn airplane mode on, turn off or move away from any networks, turn off airplane mode, and then turn on wifi again. Either that or the tablet freezes and reboots on its own.

Yes, I just posted that this happened to me this morning on Vegan ROM beta 3. That's the first time it's happened. I rebooted, and it happened again on wake. Rebooted again, and it hasn't happened again since.
So two times out of maybe a hundred sleep/wake cycles for me so far. Not sure what to make of it.
This never happened to me with ZPad ROM, which I ran for the first two to three weeks that I had my G Tablet.
My understanding is that ZPad uses a different wifi driver than TNT Lite and Vegan ROM, which share the same wifi driver. So I suspect this is a driver glitch of some sort.
This happened about 4 or 5 days ago to me. I rebooted and it never happened again.

I've seen this a few times with TnT Lite 2.4 as well.
Happens to me all the time on tnt lite 2.4. Most often just after waking from sleep. And it really hates my 802.11n access point. Happens a lot less on a b/g network.
Anyone else getting really miserable signal strength unless you're in direct line of sight in the same room?
I have the same problem with the continuous loops. Even turning on airplane mode doesn't do the trick anymore. I have to fully power down and then power up again to rectify the issue.
It has problems connecting to my Home WiFi but I can tether using my Evo's Hotspot app with no problem. Very strange.
I use the TNT Lite 2.2 ROM.
I am having the same problem with tnt lite. On unsecured routers it connects perfectly. With security though - no go - endlessly connecting and disconnecting. Turn the security off the router and it connects fine. At home, forcing a static ip seems to work most of the time but elsewhere - forget it. It is the one thing that is spoiling my otherwise excellent experience with the gtab. It seems like it has been a problem for a while but no ones seems to have addressed it in patches, etc. If I knew how, I'd do it myself.
I'm experiencing some Wifi issues. Wifi is on and appearing to receive, connected to my network yet unable to access the internet.
The fix:
1. Go to settings, Wifi and settings, instead of choosing from a scanned network input my own SSID and encryption code.
2. Choosing "never" for under the advanced settings, as your wifi sleep policy from the drop down list.
wireless connectivity data
So I've been pissing and moaning for a week now about sketchy connectivity. Today I did two things, both of which "fixed" my problems. At work I reset the Netgear wireless to factory defaults then configured it for encryption and the gtab happily connected to it for the rest of the day. At home I replaced the netgear with a Linksys wrt54g running tomato o/s and theconnection was immediate and stable. Go figure. So if you are having wireless connectivity issues you may want to check on your router. Curiously, my Droid x has had no problems with any of these routers. Good luck!

Mine seems fine all through the one story house with alumenim siding, but I use a b/g router. i took the tablet on a cross-country train (Denver) and i had the choice of a dozen or so signals from the sleeper whenever we were rolling down the tracks through towns and cities. Actually I am quite surprised at the reception coverage. At the local B&N, i could see networks of several adjacent stores and their tech guy was surprised to see what the WiFi Analyzer app display showed him.
Tom
I just upgraded my Droid X to Liquid 3.2 (full SBF to 602, ota'd to 605, rooted, then flash to Liquid). I love the ROM, but it appears that my wifi and GPS are now broken. Wifi tries to turn on but then turns back off after a second or two; GPS won't even attempt to come on. Anyone know a fix for this?
Edit: I rebooted into recovery, wiped cache and Dalvik cache, and tried again. Now the GPS appears to be working, and the wifi stays on. However, when I try to connect to my home network, it drops off after a second or two (once it connects, it keeps scanning, and then it disconnects). I logged into my router and saw that my phone was briefly hitting it, but all the router log showed was the transfer of an IP address, nothing useful for troubleshooting. Does anyone know of a log file on the phone somewhere that might indicate why it keeps dropping off of my wireless network (yes, I've double checked the password, and yes, the wireless network is functional right now).
I'm out of guesses at this point, so I'm hoping someone else can help me out.
Hm. It gets curiouser and curiouser...
I've been tinkering throughout the day, and if there is any generalization I can make, it's that between wifi, GPS, and airplane mode, one of them (occasionally two, but never all three) will work at any given time, but every time I reboot a different combination starts working. Go figure.
Help anyone?
you got same problem i got. let me know what you figure out. I will post if i figure it out
I could not figure out wifi, so I went to vortex. I like the liquid but the wifi is a big problem and I did not have a lot of time to mess with it right now. I may by another droid x just to mess with things of this nature. If anyone comes up with wifi solution please post.
hello guys,
i may have a problem with my wifi connection.
i bought two days ago the phone and yesterday i was playing with it in my house. i have some kind of problem when i am connected to my rooter.
when i connected my phone, i started viewing some sites and watching youtube videos.
suddenly i had this problem:
at the browser when i clicked a site, it started load it but never ended, just showing a white page. if i pressed stop and reload then the site was loaded ok.
this happened all the time.
when i returned to youtube the videos started and played for 10-20 seconds and then were freezed because the phone could not get the rest video.
at the same time i had internet access from my rooter as i could navigate at sites from my tablet.
if i close and open my wifi on phone then the connection was ok but after a while (10 mins) this strange behavior started again .
has anyone ever had the same problem;
thanks you
(PS sorry for my english)
What ROM are you using, and did you try to reset the phone and wipe cache/dalvik?

Have you tried simply power-cycling the router? Should be one of the first things you do, anytime you have a WiFi problem, as this will clear it up many times. I think I've seen this help even in cases where other devices work on the WiFi network properly.
yeap, i restarted both router and the phone
i have changed all the settings on the wifi-settings but did not see any progress.
From htc support told me to worj the phone in safe mode, but i have to wait until i return home
besides this problem, i cant connect and the router at my office (i had the same problem with mt s2 after an update, but 1-2 months later sammy rolloed out an update and the problem fixed)
Is security enabled on your WiFi network, and if so, what type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.). You might try switching the encryption type (although WEP is not recommended, as its not very secure). I've seen cases where this has helped various connection problems.
I have had this problem with a lot of phones that friends and family bring by. 90% of the time the problem is a minor setting on the router. Some Android phones don't like AES encryption. If your encryption settings on your router are set to "AES" or "TKIP and AES" try changing it to just TKIP. You should see improvement with your connection.
You may have to change the security settings on other devices that are connected to that router as well to refelect the change.
hey guys,
yesterday evening, when i returned home i checked my router if it was able to change the frequency from 2.4GHz to 5GHz but i could not as at the channel it did not had choises for 5GHz.
i did not change the encryption type.
i restarted the phone, and entered in safe mode. after 10 mins the problem occurred again, i removed chrome, and suddenly the phone started working fine for until 1 hour and so i figured out that the problem was the app chrome, but i left the phone in safe mode and went to bed.
next morning (today) i started watch sites and after 5 minutes the problem occurred again. (i did not turn off the phone from the previous night, still worked in safe mode)
is there any possibility the problem to caused when the phone is in standby? although i have the wifi activation in option always
So I've been in a happy relationship with my rooted, stock rom/recovery Nexus 5 for a while now. I updated to 5.1 the other day through ADB without issue and everything has been working fine until I took a plane to France (I'm originally from Spain) a couple days ago for the weekend.
First thing I noticed is that roaming didn't work. No matter what I switch on the phone I get network but no data coverage. I checked with my carrier and everything is right on their end. I switched SIMs just in case and it's a phone issue.
The next thing, WiFi doesn't work. When I go to WiFi through quick settings it's always toggled on, searching, but never getting any results. However the icon appears as WiFi off. When I go to WiFi through general settings, no matter what I click, it appears as off and with no results.
I thought about reflashing radio, but when I got to my hotel room I discovered that ADB wasn't working. ./adb devices throws no result. Plus, Android File Transfer (I'm on a Mac) doesn't work either. USB charging works just fine.
Next option would be to restore the phone to factory settings and go from there, but I would rather not use that option before discarding all the others. I have my TB backups in order, and the most I would loose would be a couple pictures.
Any crazy ideas I can try? I'm flying back to Spain in two hours so when I land I will discover if I have data on my home network or if I don't. In the meanwhile, I'm going to be on a plane with my laptop, a USB cable, my phone and a lot of time to try things.
Thanks!
Anyone having issues with Wi-Fi dropping all the time after latest update? When I say "all the time" I mean like every couple of minutes.
All network settings reset.
MAC set static.
It's the only one of maybe 30 Wi-Fi devices in house with the issue.
Wi-Fi AP rebooted.
Phone rebooted.
Phone is maybe 1 metre from the access point most of day.
Nothing seems to keep it stable.
The phone's unusable and I've only got a couple of weeks to return it if this doesn't get fixed.
did you flash the new firmware or was it ota
