Nandroid backups, backs up everything! The space needed depends on the Amount of apps installed!
There is no difference between twrp and cwm. Twrp is touch based and cwm has both touch and non touch based uis. What you want to use is completely up to you!
In my experience both recoveries backs up the kernel too!

So this means i will require a 16gb memory card to create current system back up if i have 11gb of space occupied???
And what would be expected size if i backup after clearing data/formatting???

I think a 8gb card will be enough!
11gb is occupied, but how much is occupied by the apps alone that you've installed? Because that's what will be backed up! Other data that you've in your internal memory will not be backed up!

Titanium backup, worth every penny
There is default backup app that backups data to SD card.

Set the Titanium backup directory to /Removable/MicroSD/TitaniumBackup (selecting a directory is not user friendly, use back key to up one directory).
ARHD offers Super_Wide_Lite that does not delete /sdcard partition, it is not fun to backup 10GB of data.
sorry posted in the wrong thread..deleted.

Its something with cyanogenmod roms. I forget why it does that but I think its something with the sd cards and internal memory. Im not too sure on that

is there any way to do some kind of restore?
I believe it s because it mounts the sd card and internal memory backwards or slightly different Go to titanium backup and hit settings and locate the other location. Ones emmc and other is internal sdcard.

You use file browser and swap titanium file from internal to exrernal cm roms integrate a2sd i believe that's the reasoning

CWM backup and restore

Has anyone successfully tried backing up their device and restoring with CWM on the tab 2 7?
When I backup I get an error in the data partition. I haven't tried restoring because I can't get an error free backup.

Yes
I've used CWM to backup/restore my P3113.
Make sure you've got an external SD card in the slot, and that the SD card is large enough (anything over 1Gb is fine).
Yes it worked fine for me. Also worked fine using twrp recovery.
I used cwm to restore after a bad flash, no problem, an external .sd card is a must because when you b/u it is stored on the external sd card.
Pp.

I have successfully backed up and restored stock rom and custom rom with CWM and TWRP

Maybe it's my sdcard....I only had 2 gb left. I'll try again with an empty card.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
That could very well be it. My backups clocked in around 2gb (and I was doing this on a stock tablet without anything installed).
Did you resolve this one? I have the exact same issue, data partition error when backing up, and I have tried on as large as a 16 gb card. I don't know what to do.
Have you gone to the advanced item and read the error log? On mine it was that I had so many videos on the internal storage and the tar file was to big. What does the log day?

Nandroid without sd-card

Hey there
Would like to create a backup of my rom. but i don't have a sdcard. In CWM is an option to backup to my internal storage and that's what i also did. Sadly it backed up totally everything. It also backed up my music and even the stock nandroid. after a couple minutes CWM gave me an error because i run out of free storage.
Does anybody has a solution for my problem? Is there a way to backup only certain stuff? Obviously i don't want to backup my old backup. And i also don't care about my music.

My nandroid backup is only 18 mb, no particular option selected, and it's stored in the internal sd.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
Only 18 MB? that seems very small to me. Only the room got around 150 MB :/
The backup of my stock rom is around 2.2 Gb
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
Well, I was wrong
In the clockwork folder there are two folders: one is named backup, and every backup is about 18 mb. The other folder is named blobs and it's 3,36 gb

Hmm how many times have you done a backup? If I'm right and CWM always backups your data (like music, old bakups,...) Your next backup gets huge.
Gesendet von meinem GT-P5100 mit Tapatalk 2
I don't know exactly, I always thought that Cwm backups only the system and not the data stored in the internal sd.
I think I'm going to delete the whole folder and backup the system from scratch.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
Until now i thought the same. I also had a galaxy nexus without an SD card but i never had any problems. But i think it had two partitions.
On my DHD i don't have any music or backups on my internal storage. That might be the reason why it works properly.
Could you let me know when you did another backup? I'm wondering if you got the same problems. Or if anyone else got the problem.

[Q] How do you make a nandroid backup?

I recently flashed Proton's ICS kernel because I wanted to watch videos, and it came with TWRP instead of CWM. How do I make a nandroid backup with TWRP?
And is there anyway I can switch to CWM from TWRP?
And another question, How do I view the system files?
Just go to backup on the main screen but that TWRP backup only really works if you are using TWRP to restore that backup. If you want CWM thrn easiest way is to vhnge the kernel to something else

What do I check though? There are six options.
System
Data
Boot
Recovery
Cache
.android_secure
I checked everything especially system and data...doesnt really hurt anything it just makes the backup a larger file since more data is being backedup

it depends...
when you do a backup in recovery mode....
"sometimes" it means that you are not sure about you are flashing right now...
so when you do a restore.... it will back to ur "previews rom" and apps etc...
BUT! BUT! when you are sure to ur chosen rom..
Do a titanium backup... before flashing you ROMS.
this backup can restore your apps ( just install the apps and restore )
like action games.. your save gameplays your high scores etc...
Suggest that you do it BOTH.
