[Q] Is there any way to change Android buid? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I know that Android system released as eng build has natively rooted without SU binary. And My banking apps are detecting SU binary or temporary unroot status which SuperSU can make. If detected anyway, I cannot run my banking apps. However, I also don't want my devices to be permanantly unrooted. So I need to change my Android 4.0.4 build from user-release build to eng build. (Usually Android device vendors release their Android firmware as user-release build which don't give us root access.) Is there any way to change my ICS 4.0.4 build from user-release to eng?

I think you have to Change your build. prop

[ROM] joeykrim-SDX-original-5.1 Odex *Stock Rooted 3.70.651.1* Dec 15th 2010

Goal:
Create an updated stock ROM with a completely stock system to be customized however the user wants with included developer tools.
Requirements:
Root access and NAND unlock is required to load this ROM. If you already have these two things, skip this section!
The best methods to accomplish this:
Root Access and Custom Recovery
Load unrevoked 3.21 - this will provide root access and load a custom recovery.
NAND Unlock
Load unrevoked forever - this will provide a permanent NAND unlock S-OFF (until you chose to remove it S-ON).
Once both of these have been completed, your EVO is now ready!
Optional and Separate:
Latest Radio Version: 2.15.00.11.19
Latest PRI Version: 1.90
Older Radio 2.15.00.09.01 and PRI 1.77
Technical Details:
This ROM gives you the original stock system as a complete template allowing the user full control over customization.
This ROM incorporates the latest Software version 3.70.651.1 with some developer applications (root, busybox, eng RUU /xbin tools and flash_image).
Other ROMs require manual deletion of the dalvik cache. This ROM clears the dalvik cache automatically.
Developer apps included: busybox, flash_image, remount script in /system/bin and ENG RUU /xbin copied to /system/xbin.
Latest Stock Kernel with HTC improvements (30 fps cap removed, etc).
Directions:
Load this ROM onto the root of the sdcard.
Different methods to load the ROM:adb push, mounting sdcard to host computer, downloading directly through the browser on the EVO or through Koush's ROM Manager (available in the Market).
Boot into recovery. A custom recovery with NAND unlocked (for write access) is REQUIRED.
Wipe of /data (referred to as wipe of data/factory reset) is recommended! If you'd prefer not to and feel adventurous, there is a script which can help port 3rd party apps and settings when switching between ROMs, fix_permissions.sh. For more info - Cyanogen's Wiki.
From the custom recovery of your choice, Select Install/Apply .zip and select this ROM .zip file.
Confirm and it will apply.
Select reboot.
The initial boot when the standard Sprint 4G boot animation appears, will take much longer to load because the davlik cache has been cleared. Give it a few minutes. Once the dalvik-cache has been built, all further boots will be much quicker.
To make sure the ROM was applied successfully, check for root access by using the su command and the prompt should show # instead of $ and Software Version number: 3.70.651.1.
Warning:If you want to run the Beta version of Swype instead of the version of Swype distributed in the new stock ROM, remove /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so and reinstall the Beta verion of Swype. Might experience some force closing issues due to poor implementation of Swype installation by HTC.

I lOVE THE FACT THAT THERE ARE ALL THESE BIG NAME PEOPLE FORM ALL MY PAST PHONES!!!
nothing but good things are coming for this phone.
will try in the AM.
Good to see you pumping out a ROM joeykrim. Figured I'd ask a question in this thread so I can get it resolved and then flash this wonderful stock ROM .
So, I received and downloaded/installed the official .6 OTA update and rooted using unrEVOked method. I know that I must use Toast's method in order to flash custom ROMs such as this one. My question is: in order to flash this ROM, do I first have to downgrade to .1 and then use Toast's root method? OR, will Toast's root method work when coming from .6?

Well I'm on STOCK .6. Do I have to downgrade to .1 or can I just use Toast's root method straight from .6?
Re: [ROM] joeykrim-original-1.0 * Stock Clean ROM *
Any reason I would have root anymore? Tried opening root explorer and it tells me I am not root.

Just a suggestion if there is a way to possibly have a separate download without the radio inside would probably be a good idea to have it
this is a update package similar to the OTA right???? It isn't a full rom am I correct? If so awesome work about to flash this.
Looks like Wifi is not working. Keeps getting stuck at obtaining ip address and fails. WPA2 AES encryption.

3. cant install htc widgets (shows downloads and installs but nothing there)
Oops! My wifi is giving me the finger now.

adb including adb shell, push and pull have root access.
will add su in the next version for 3rd party apps to have root access, like root explorer.
/system is still not writable from normal android mode until NAND protection is disabled.

can you explain from a technical point of view the advantages to this approach? now that you have me thinking, the first update will need the radio to be updated, but all further ROM updates won't need to include the radio! ah, i shall split it out or just link to flipz ...

before I release a full ROM, i want to have a clean system (with root) to work with. none of the other ROM releases, IMO, resulted in a clean system. this is our starting point!

very very good to know. will definitely look into these issues. if you have the time, could you try wifi again and post up the logcat showing it attempting and erroring? this shouldnt be an issue so hopefully its something simple! im also wondering if since the radio is upgrade, maybe it needs another reboot after installation? hmmm
Watching this with much interest! All I really want is a rom without the sprint crap installed, and with root.
that doesn't jack up 4G or protected apps.

HTC widgets
Can you verify if get more HTC widgets is working?
Using jk-original-1.0.3-odex-signed.zip
I think I'll flash this as soon as I get around to properly rooting my phone.
I have this up and running. It works flawlessly. I tried to download more widgets but but it states unable to download widgets. Maybe we have all of them? Everything else works great. Root in android, wifi, phones, email etc. awesome

this is an odd issue cuz the apps came directly from the RUU .6 software ... something isnt right.
the log shows the HtcAddProgramWidget.apk (my guess at the program handling this) seems to be calling a web page which isnt active.
EDIT: fixed the issue. get more HTC widgets works! the issue was a setting in /data left from the userdebug RUU (PC36IMG.zip) which was telling it to use a testing address, not the real address. all the other ROMs require wiping /data so they didnt' have this issue.
my goal was to allow the user to keep their data and its still possible!
thanks for your help!
what is the point of the deodex version? Isn't the point of the odex to optimize the dex therefore making it faster?

[ROM][4.2] Android 4.2 for Nerds

Here is my new ASOP distribution. I made no changes to the GUI but unlock all hidden Features and install BusyBox and a terminal. Superuser.apk doesn't work anymore with 4.2, so I have written quick-and-dirty replacement. But be warned: It gives alls apps root rights without asking. Install only apps you really trust. There is a new command "setup-swap". You can create or delete a swap file with it, if you need more memory. "install-gapps" doesn't work currently.
The "install-gnu" plug-in is much bigger now. It supports I18N and UTF-8 now. Your terminal is in the same language you set in the Android config. And I have added more programming languages, too. So if you want a real GNU environment on your Tablet, just type "install-gnu" on the command line. A Bluetooth keyboard is highly recommended.
Because of the December bug here is version 4.2.1 now:
Mirror 1
Mirror 2
My public key is here and here is the signature.
You install it like a factory firmware, so you need "fastboot" in your "PATH", then run "flash.sh". Warning: All data will be overwritten.

Rom sounds good, might flash it, but about superuser, it hasn't worked very well since ICS was introduced (IMO), i have alsways used SuperSU, although 4.2 doesn't have full multi user settings on SuperSU yet, it has been patched to work. Just sayin XD
Also, have you thought about making some of these things flashable (like the install GNU and setup Swap) as I would love these alongside Paranoid android XD
Awesome stuff though =D
Thanks for your work! will test this out!
Nice work, will test it in some time.
All Mirrors are up and running now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Q] running Streamline ds-5 on android s2

Hello every one
I'm tuck in my problem for few days now. I want to run streamline on my Samsung s2 gt-i9100 device, I followed a lot of guides but still no luck.
the current situation is:
what iam trying to do is running streamline for ds-5 on the Samsung mobile to do that i had to crate gator,ko module and gatord deamon. I cratd both of them using Android 4.1.2 JB from Samsung website.
I had the kernal on mobile is 3.0.15-Siyah-s2v4.1.5+ Android 4.1.1 on my phone and the phone is rooted from inside the phone when i run a terminal in the phone it worked fine but when i try to use adb root from my computer it gives permission deny.
i tried to get the source code for the Siyah kernel to build the gator against it but no luck. i tried the repack-zImage.sh -u from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901152 to extract the source code but it still get me some errors"x32 vs x64 compatibility issue".
a next step as to try do is to load another android version so I used vanilla Root box. but like the first try I got the error when running the gatord
gator.ko must be built against the current version.
I can not use the source jb code to install it on the phone. odin do no support the file type "I have.tar.gz and they need .tar.md5"
I need advice on using source code for kernel to build gator then flush it to my phone.
any version would be fine as I need to test apps.
Thanks in dvance

Nugat rom with no need for ROOT? Plausible?

Hi,
I'm fond of my non-root software, just because there is a number of apps that I use on regular basis that do not allow root.
Is it going to be at all possible to build a "custom rom" that will be able to run those applications that typically just FAIL when root is detected, by simply not forcing root on the device?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Well, it depends on a couple things:
First, there are different ways that apps can detect root. Some apps simply try to gain access to root. But more advanced apps, a notable one being Android Pay, also check if the firmware running on the device has passed Google's CTS tests, which only original 100% stock firmware can pass.
So is your device 100% stock non-modified, or is it a custom ROM with no root access? This will help determine if the apps you use are of the more simple kind, or of the advanced kind.
At this present moment I'm running the Sony Concept software and realistically I would love to continue to be running the latest OS, but unless something like Sony Concept continue to exist the only way to run 7.0 in the future will be a custom Rom. Almost all custom Roms require Root, is there hope that one gets developed that will run similarly to the Concept Software project, I.e. No need for root or nada and thereby allowing me to use my apps (banking etc) that do a scan against root + custom software

Non-standard device, can it be rooted?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place....
So, I haveone of these...
www . desertcart.ae/products/24035588-dupad-story-falcon-no-camera-otg-smart-wake-4g-5-0-inch-android-5-1-mt6735-quad-core-1-5ghz-64bits-2gb-16gb-unlocked-smartphone-with-gps-black
Some apps won't let me install them because they say my device is rooted, but I can't do anything that needs root access or install apps that need it, and when I use something like "Rootcheck" it says I *don't* have root...
Can it be rooted so that I can either gain stock android and use apps that won't install with root, or root properly so that I can install apps that need root access?
Here's what is says in my "About Phone" Section
Android Version
5.1
Baseband Version
MOLY.LR9.W1444.MD.LWTG.MP.V26.P2,2015/09/17 16:15
Kernel Version

Custom Built Version
ALPS.L1.MP3.V2.21_JOYASZ6735M.65U.L_P5
I'm guessing then that no one knows, or I simply can't?
