LG G2X soft bricked - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have an LG G2X with a stock Gingerbread 2.3.4. The other day I tried to upgrade using HellFireSandwich. After the step where I wiped the Dalvik Cache, I choose the upgrade folder from my SD card and hit Reboot. The phone rebooted and now is stuck on the blue LG image. I tried all kind of fixes from the internet, youtube, etc. I even tried ODIN but no success. The phone is not in warranty anymore.
What should I do, if there is anything that can be done to fix it?

There is an unbrick thread in the dev section, try the instructions on there. It should work for you.
I'll give it a shot thank you for the reply

is there an offline way to update baseband

I can't seem to find one anywhere. Also I'm on a windows 7 PC if that helps
Well, technically once you download everything I think you can do the kdz method(i think you download everything beforehand, and then use that method?) but I've never used that method or read over it. Lg's update tool needs a constant data stream. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You did the batch clean up without flashing a new ROM? Nice...
Just nvflash to stock 2.3.4. It'll work, if you get errors use a different USB/USB slot.
There are guides that explain.
Look that the thread here for detailed instructions on how to flash recovery with nvflash. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
If it works properly but you can't boot into recovery then run the clear-up batch and you should be good to go (assuming it works and you can boot into recovery and flash a ROM.

Stuck in CWM Recovery

When booting up (by pressing power button, and when I connect it to charger it boots up by itself) the phone goes straight to CWM Recovery. I've tried everything, nothing works.
When in CWM everything seems to work fine: I can flash the ROM or do backup/restore.
I tried going back to stock - same problem. Can Not boot to OS.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Just to clarify on understanding your issue, when you boot up the phone by pressing only the power button your phone goes into cwm instead? While in cwm when you select reboot does is just stay in cwm? What version of cwm are you using? If I were in your shoes, I would reflash cwm with nvflash and go from there.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you need to NVFlash CWM.
Did you use ROM Manager to flash CWM?
Appears you flashed CWM to the boot partition, not the recovery partition, which can happen when you use ROM manager.

The answer to all of these questions is "Yes"
The CWM Recovery I used is 5.0.2.0, but I tried other versions too, same results: reboot to Recovery just by pressing power or "reboot' from CWM.

I would next than suggest using the scrubber/nullifier, followed by NV flashing the stock rescue package, than follow back up with NV flashing CWM and than your ROM.
This should rebuild all partitions and than rebuild from scratch.
This is the procedure I follow when I brick my phone. I can provide you with links if needed.
This is the only thing I would think to do if my device.

No worries, but to re-partition right after a healthy dose of nullification is an overkill IMHO .

I found and used the nullifier, but it didn't help either. I used the file manager that comes with the nullifier, and for some reason the boot folder is empty even after I flash the ROM, and I also tried copy/paste the boot image from my backup folder to the root/boot folder.
I'm frustrated. Please HELP. any other suggestions.
Lets try pushing back to completely stock and see if the phone works correctly under stock conditions.

Did NV Flash run with no errors and it still boots to CWM?
Last idea I have is Волк's suggestion, I multi quoted this thread so the link is right above this text.
Or try running LGs official update tool and see if it will run.

I tried to reboot the phone, and now its in boot loop.
Is it safe to flash CWM Recovery(v5.0.2.7) now ? And then restore from my backup?
If you made the backup with a different version of CWM the backup will not restore. You have to use the same version to restore the ROM as you did to make the backup.
Yey!!! It worked! :victory::victory::laugh:
Flashed NV Flash----->Flashed CWM 5.0.2.7----> and then restored from my backup. Now my phone is as it was before.
Thanks so much everyone!!!

Yeah, there's no way. Unless he did use a compy to at least nvflash, then just download a rom using mobile browser onto SD card, grab a kernel, gapps if needed, and flash as usual. Done this several times using only phone, but of course the computer MUST be used for nvflash, otherwise, OP, you'll have nothing but problems.

You would know if you've used nvflash because you would have downloaded a small application to your PC, taken out the battery, pressed volume up/down simultaneously, installed APX drivers, etc etc...it's a pretty unforgettable experience. There is no way of checking except remembering whether you went through such a process.

Adam wasn't trolling you at all. From what i can see everything he said was in order to help you. You can't do anything until you nvflash cwm onto your phone. End of story. And you still haven't made it clear if you used nvflash to install cwm onto your phone from your PC

Adam did not mean anything derogatory by his comments, don't misinterpret an experienced user's comment as negative feedback.
Now on to your topic, i do not believe you can upgrade your baseband without a computer. I would use lg's upgrader tool to do that. I don't know much about it as i was originally on 2.3.4 however i know theres a sticky on it somewhere. Check all the g2x forums and their sticky sections. You will definitely need a PC to do it
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I've checked all the methods posted such as the offline KDZ updater and they failed. most are XP specific and I'm running vista
Sent from my LG-P999
Yeah sorry not trolling, just trying to get an idea where you are with the phone. What exactly are you trying to do? Upgrade to 2.3.4 stock using the LG update tool? I'm thinking you should just download v10f from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
The v10f should be the 2.3.4 if I'm not mistaken, and should be flashable from cwm. Make sure to use the instructions provided on that thread. It's a stock nandroid backup, so you have to use the backup/restore menu in cwm. Not sure you have to use a PC (you might be able to do the extraction it talks about in the instructions using androzip, not sure though)...
But what is your ultimate goal by doing this? Cm7 with the right kernel works so much better.
Sent from my LG-P999
Thanks Adam I'm going to save nandroid back up on my PC since i lost mine. Probably a good idea to have a stock 2.3.4 hanging around anyway
