Try with metamorph other apps that use s-off

As taken from the thread in legend dev.
Shell script that does the overlay is made so it can use any (first) ext2/3 partition on your sdcard. That means you can use your a2sd partition for overlay too. If a2sd is not active but you still have ext2/3 partition on your sdcard, it will be mounted and used for overlay. If you don't have ext2/3 partition on your sdcard, then internal data partition will be used instead. In this case you will have to be careful not to fill it up entirely
a2sd script should run before the overlay script (only if you use a2sd)
i dont know how s2e works i only use built in apps2sd
as long as you have enough free ext3(no ext4) it should work it only uses what youve edited
eg u morph framework.res it only overlays that file
I didn't try it, I was just asking.

Read/Write instead of Read/Only
a pseudo S-off as the aria is S-on
read the thread linked for further explanation
S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC’s devices is S-ON, which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root.
sorry...you beat me to it. :0
this is the closest we'll get to s-off unless it actually happens
its a fake s-off that has system files that youve edited load from the sd ext3 partition
updated 1st post as i forgot commands you NEED to run
haven't test it yet. Theoretically this can do pseudo modification of system files, but what will happen when I delete a system file? pseudo deleted, or restore to the original?

tested with metamorph and it just reverts to whatever is on internal
and it works with s2e fine, just make sure you have a big enough partition

This is great! I'm not sure I need it at this point but I might give it a try tomorrow just to see what happens. Thanks, man.
I know what this does but could you jog my memory on what an ext3 partition is? Partitioning your SD card?

yes, you CAN resize the partitions usung for example gparted(from pc) as i use, instead of formatting it
Okay so is there a certain set of instructions I need to follow when formatting? And all I have to do is 1. have a formatted SD card and your kernel 2. Flash update.zip 3. Put phone into adb and do adb shell aufs --enable on the command prompt?
Signatures are fancy.
not really
yes you should be able to do aufs --enable on the terminal emulator on your phone
you need the newest version of my kernel as it adds support for aufs
Okay thank you will try tomorrow

What's keeping the Aria from getting a full S-Off like some other phones I've seen? HTC's security pretty tough?

It was done long ago. ATTN1 has had S-OFF on his phone for a while. Check out alpharev.nl . They just have yet to release it for some reason.
I was browsing at the Android Software and Hacking General thread and I just found this. I tested this on my phone and I think I got 10 - 20MB of free RAM. I'm still not sure if this will work for you, but you can give it a try..
According to the OP..
This is not useful in odexed ROMs & devices with 1GB or more RAM. However, this will give a performance boost in deodexed ROMs as much as odexing system & data apps. This is an alternative for odexing. It's not that you can't apply this tweak on an odexed ROM but rather, it's useless to do so.
Click to collapse
Advantages:
More free RAM.
Faster launch for system & user apps during the second launch.
Gives as much as of a performance boost as ODEX without odexing. Themer friendly.
Smoother app switching.
Disadvantages:
Might break some apps.

NOTICE:
Please don't use this tweak for those who already installed the CF-Root by ganeshbiyer, this tweak is already integrated to the kernel itself.

not sure.. but this tweak has nothing to do with keyboard, ALTHOUGH according to the op, this can break some apps..
But you can still undo this tweak.. just go open up your Terminal Emulator or ADB shell and type these commands:
su
# setprop dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode true
# rm /data/dalvik-cache/*
# rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*
# reboot

Did u find any improvements, other than the keyboard issue.. Concerned coz I'm on stock rom too..
sorry, I found that the keyboard problem is not cause by this tweak but its recent update.
About improvement, I did found that the apps are opening faster.
Hope somebody who's tried this tweak can help me..
In the first step in terminal emulator, the fourth line.
rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*
It said no such directory found.. Tried twice but the same thing..
Step 2- do I need to add both the following lines to system/build.prop
dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode = false
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v-n, o=v
I found the 2nd line already present in the build. prop.. So I just modified it without adding the 1st one...
Please tell me where I've gone wrong, I'm the first and second steps.. Cheers..

For the fourth line, which show no directory found, I just skip it and manually clear cache and dalvik-cache in the recovery.
for the step 2, I just modified it if it already existed.

Swap file allows u to use extra memory stimulating your hard disk
SWAPPER WORKS ON ALL DEVICES ( I TESTED IT ON X10 AND WORKS WELL)
REQUIREMENTS
-Working rom
-rooted device
-Custom Kernel ( DO NOT USE STOCK KERNELS )
HOW TO START:-
-Download swapper 2 and Terminal emulator
-Type FREE in the terminal emulator and SWAP row should show all values 0
-Open sawpper tick the following in preferences:
Run swapper at start up
safe unmount
safe remount
-In advanced preference tick
Reformat sawp
Recreate swap file
-Increase swap size to 96
-Also increase swappiness to 100
Now RUN swapper by clicking on ON ( first time might show FAIL but have patience and wait for seconds or retry after a minute and it woks)
Thats all UR done now ull get 100 to 150 mb ram freee try plaing all games together:laugh::laugh:
PLZ DONT FORGET TO TUNR SWAP OFF BEFORE YOU USE USB CONNECTION
Does it work in ICS Roms? Because RAM management is very poor in ICS Roms.
Getting following error:
-turning swap off(file) fail
can't stat '/sdcard/swapfile.swp'. no such file or directory.
------------------------------------------------
EDIT : sorry, got it done. At the end its showing 'all done'.
Thanks bro
The kernel must support Swap to use this.

hello,
i am having problems with my phone as it comes with very low internal memory i am so desperate installing apps.
i have done with commands from adb i have linked almost all apps with Link2sd (i still have problems with that app) and cleaning all the cache and data moved apps to sd partition but still i am running out of space withing that few apps.
i was seeking for solution and i did read somewhere about some scripts like A2SD and D2EXT...
i need to be clear about those what are the scripts? what does they do? they can move all data (APP+data) to SD card??
please post reply to this !!
s2e
create ext partition and use s2e.

unlike the scripts
int2ext or int2ext+ are the only stable solutions you can consider.

Today i successfully installed Jaggy Rom 5 after 2 unsuccessful Attempts
I checked the updater-scripts something was missing there i think so
So i Added missing lines of Busybox and format partitions lines in start after that there was no boot hang at htc logo you can compare that updater script in attachment View attachment updater-script.zip
But after enabling m2sd i constantly started getting messages super user has closed unexpectedly and similarly about google apps and other

I think you didn't follow the steps given in the instructions in the rom thread correctly.
You need to give root permissions first, then click on configure busybox in the menu that pops up,then click on configure script,go back and click configure and there, select remount and data.do not select dalvik cache and applications.click on journal and choose automatic and do the same for cache. Finally, click on sd-ext type and choose it.
reboot and wait for about 10 mins(though it takes a lil less than 10 mins).
