Every time I let YouTube update I get an error when I try to use it. If I go to the app data and uninstall the update it works fine. Any way to permanently not install the update or find a version that works on my 10.1?

I am not rooted and whenever i download an app from play store it force closes before it can install. This is regardless of app size, or wifi/mobile data. I am familiar with how to do stuff root wise so i am no noob. I can't root this phone. Downloading the app from the play site doesn't work either. Any ideas?

Try reflash Gapps. I had the same problem. This can help.
Not rooted, so fully stock locked? Try cleaning app data for play store.

Is there anyway to install whats app on a N8010 I've just got mine today and am not really convinced it worth keeping and getting rid of my galaxy 10.1 3g version
What i did was back up my whatsapp from my phone with titanium backup and then restore that back up on my note 10.1. Works fine that way. Only problem is it can only run on one device at a time.

ok Thanks ill go and have a look now to see whats the best way of doing that
Ok done this now how do i back it up from one device and restore it on another
Back it up on your galaxy tab 10.1. It'll store the backup on sd in folder called titanium backup. Copy to folder to your computer transfer it to your note then download titanium backup app and restore it

I don't use this app, but can't you just pull the apk from /data/app transfer to Note and install?

Sorted it now with Titanium backup. You cant just install it as you get a error message popping up
Here you go
I downloaded the latest one and works fine without rooting or anything.

Anybody mind explaining more how to overcome that error? I installed the multitask signed version of whatsapp, then did the titanium backup restore.
Ok, the multiwindow version wouldnt do it, but the regular version worked fine.

For the WiFi only version I found this link and it worked! Without root. The credit is not mine.

I download plenty of beta version apps and homebrew apps (not from market). Is there a way to update these without losing app data by uninstalling and reinstalling the new version. I don't want to lose the app data.
Thanks

Just install the new versions over the old ones. (App will be updated without data loss)
It doesn't let me do that. It tells me the previous version must be uninstalled before installing the new one.

In that case, use an app such as Titanium Backup to backup your data, then uninstall the old app and install the new one. After that, restore the data.
Do I need to root my phone to use that app?

it doesnt let me update , it forces me to uninstall making me lose data.
As stated the only way to do it is do back up the data with titanium back up. Uninstall the app, install new one and then restore the settings.
Also be careful about getting apks from places other then the official app stores or here

Is rooting safe?

As safe as installing apps you get outside of the play store. Safer even. Just do your research

I was looking for GooManager in my app drawer and could find it. So I decided to go to the Play Store and see if its installed. When I clicked on the app, there wasn't an "open" or "uninstall" option. It showed it was installed in my app settings but I still couldn't launch it. I uninstalled it using Titanium Backup and now when I try to install the app I get this error " Incompatible update". How do I fix this?

Try rebooting then go back into play store and try downloading again. I had the same issue, and just like you had uninstalled via titanium backup. Seems to be an issue with some custom ROMs that have Goomananger preinstalled.

You can download XSG1.apk and try side loading it. https://www.box.com/s/hfysx1jg5faoaugoec1s
Same with zite http://androidsight.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=1032
Not sure if it works or not but sometimes you can get lucky.
Thank you so much

This is why I root my device... I can grab these apk files from my data file to try out later. Had a few apps go missing from the app store and this was the only way to get it...
Most apps are compatible but you will find the occasional one that isn't....
