[q] android system power off - General Questions and Answers

HI All,
I have a rooted x10i with custom ROM which was recently updated. I had a problem with my phone. whenever I try to use it for a call, camera, net or any other application the phone gets switch off by displaying a message called "ANDROID SYSTEM - POWER OFF" This problem was there even before updation. It is still remaining the same. i tried clearing the battery stats in the xrecovery, and also wiped dalvik cache, and cache partitions, but still the problem remains the same.
I dont know what to do and have been trying all the options but of no use. I am not able to use my phone properly.
Hope some one gives a good solution to the problem. Shall be highly appreciated.
Regards
Sriharshas

might be a hardware problem since this has apparently occurred on more than 1 rom. Just go to a service place and ask them.

[Q] Process system not responding

So after searching for solution for days I felt that now its the need to start a new post for new occurring problems in Samsung sl gt-i9003. Wile changing the chassis of my phone I accidentally broke the white wire which is known as board connector or Samsung flex wire. Once I got the shipment I fixed my phone, but a new issue came forward. I used Odin to flash rom with the latest rom and since then my phone keeps on rebooting and even if then it reaches setup screen where you select language then touch screen becomes unresponsive and I keep on seeing "process system not responding". So I flashed my phone over dozen times, even went back to foryo but nothin helped. Somewhere it suggested that try rootin your phone and then go to recovery mode and wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then fix permission, and reboot, and it worked. Touch screen started
Working so he doubt about sensor going bad is gone. So something about the dalvik cache and fix permission. But then my wifi gives error when I switch on, so I tried *#*#526#*#* to load driver but always came with unsuccessful
So I finally ran out of options and I am writing this post asking you all to help
This is my current config
PDA I9003XWLF2
PHONE I9003XXLE4
CSC I9003XXLF1
I am using Bagaria for rooting. Rest all rooting not working on mine. The software is poland's version of Samsung SL Gt i9003. With the new software updates the old rooting packages are giving glitches so I am open for new suggestions. Please suggest steps too. I tried remix ics, miui, ethenonx, etc to make wifi work. Only trouble, too much battery consumption in miui and rest has too much load on ram which is making wifi glitch.i am not a novice but at this moment I ran out of options and clues. I need my phone to start without rooting it. Even if I have to root every feature should work then.
Thank you
looks like none of you have any solution to the problem posted
i thought android gurus might have some trick saved up their sleeves
try flashing dhirus cm10 rom

Reboot loop after booting

Can anyone suggest a troubleshooting method without a factory reset. This is what I am experiencing:
Everytime I reboot the Sensation will boot up and go through the normal process. About 3 or 4 minutes it will just reboot. Often when this happens I note that I don't have to re-enter my pin (a clue?). This rebooting will go on repeatedly but eventually (if I leave the phone alone) I will at some point end up with the phone up and running.
There are no random reboots, it is only this situation that causes the problem and it's obviously some point 3 or 4 mins into the process that is causing the problem.
I've noticed that if I reboot to recovery and then select reboot from there it is usually successful.
I am s/off via wire trick method, and rooted. recovery is 4 ext and I am still on stock rom.
I'd like to find out what is happening at the point of the reboot, is there a good way to do this?

Hi,
Have you installed a new ROM recently?
Did you fully wipe the phone before you did this?
If not,try re-installing the ROM you are on.
No wipes.
You will not lose settings or data.

What I noticed is that the problem didn't exist when rebooting from ADB or fastboot either.
Anyway your suggestion so far looks promising. I've tried a normal restart from the phone and a battery change both of which would usually end up with the rebooting problem. Both of these tests haven't caused it so I'll keep testing but thanks for the suggestion.
What is does the Dalvik cache do and how would this have caused this kind of problem? I'm interested in the whys. The problem appeared soon after installing a couple of things as I remember and I did try to backtrack without much success.

No I've not installed any Roms, I'm on stock.
Revived thread - as it's happening again
I'd like to revive this thread - perhaps I should post a new one but since it's here ...
This problem has returned with a vengeance. It took me about 3 hours of fighting to get this phone to stop rebooting. It seems clearing the dalvik cache isn't a solution anymore (if it was in the first place).
What I've observed is that if I take the sd card out it doesn't reboot. When the card is in I have several shortcuts on one of my home screens which often will not refresh for ages (ie. android icons for anything moved to sd card). When the icons start to appear the reboot will happen shortly after. All the time I'm waiting for this to happen the phone is very sluggish.
I don't think this is an incompatible sd card but maybe it is, however, if I can get this to stop rebooting then all is ok till I attempt another reboot.
Ideally I'd like to track this down to find out if there is an app which is misbehaving. Are there any tools that can help me do that.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Backup all your data and do a factory reset
This problem might be due to 3rd party app as you phone without sd card dosent reboots
Might be some of ur app is seriously miss-behaving
After a factory rest install each app n check ( I know it's time consuming)

Yeah hoped to avoid that for 2 reasons. 1) It's a bummer 2) I won't know what the problem was / is.
I did do a factory reset after backing up data via my recovery. It seemed to be ok but I had nothing on SD at that point. I loaded a couple of apps and moved them to sd and it still didn't happen. The I restored the data and it was back to the same problem.
I may have to go with your suggestion but I'm going to lose some data as I can't back up selectively (so it seems).
Is there a logger I can use that starts at reboot. If I could find out exactly what it's doing when it decides to reboot I might nail the app?

hi
greetings
to find the problematic app might go tough you will have to install each and every app and check after that
try installing all the trustworthy apps before eg. file manager,fb,twitter, gmail etc then check once again ,after that install single app at a time

I have a problem with my service, tried almost everything.

Hello guys
I have a problem with my service. Suddenly, my HTC One X + was stuck in airplane mode. It was 'turning off' without anything happening. So i went onto this forum and started searching for any solutions. They told my to do a factory reset, and I did. Accidentally i also erased a little too much and i erased my original OS. After that I found that I could restore it by flashing a custom ROM onto my phone, and I did, as my phone was completely useless without an OS. Eventually I turned out fine and I am able to use my cellphone again with the custom ROM. (Viper btw)
I was pleased that I could re-use my phone, but after a while, the same thing happened all over again. I could send/receive messages for about 5 minutes, then suddenly I couldn't anymore, but it didn't show the 'turning off' text under the airplane mode, instead it showed 'off', so I didn't really get it. Then I tried restarting me phone and I went to settings, where of course, 'turning off' was shown under the airplane mode setting..
So I tried doing a factory reset, cache wipe and Dalvik cache wipe again, and indeed, after restart, I could receive/send messages and calls again. Sadly, after about 5 minutes, the same thing happened again and I could not send/receive messages or calls. I have no clue about what the problem is, because after all, I can send/receive right after I reset it, so it isn't broke or anything? At least that is what I derive of that.
Anyhow, it would be great if you guys could help me out here. Hoping on a quick response.
Thanks beforehand
Try installing the rom again.. and this install Orignal Rom of ur device.. And before doing that Wipe data and cache. From advance Wipe dalvik cache.. Then go to Mount and storage and fromat system.. Then Flash Rom.

In settings>Status Bar, make sure heads up notifications are on. Then, in Display&Lights, check DT2sleep, DT2wake, and Prevent acc. Wake-up. Then, in profiles, make sure the lock screen option has system default set. If that doesn't work, wipe cache and dalvik in recovery. If that fails, I would try flashing the rom again. If you've recently gone from KK to 5.0 or something like that, you might need a full wipe (data, dalvik, cache) so back up anything important beforehand. Good luck!

[Completed] ZTE Grand X (Tegra2) - Freezing after boot & Can´t wipe data or install rom

Hi guys,
I really need your help here!
When I turned on my phone this morning, it booted up normally, but suddenly, after few seconds the phone froze and turned off. Now its still the same, but sometimes even image on screen freeze instead of turn black.
Now the weird part- i tried wipe data/cache in CWM or install another ROM. ROM update run smoothly, without any errors, but when i turned on the phone, data wasn't wipe at all, it was exactly in the same state as before. I also tried to delete data directory via adb shell with su, but it keeps telling me that data partition is read only. I tried remount it with -rw, but it didn´t make any difference, still getting read only message. Another strange thing is when i open the data directory in Droid explorer, it looks like the folder is empty, but in system info I can see there is over 1GB used in DATA partition.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions, I´m really desperate here!
update: when i boot the device in safe mode, it last on little bit longer. when i try to delete anything from data, it freezes instantly. Could somehow data partition be corrupted?
Hi,
I can't find anything relevant on XDA for your device and issue, and since it's an older device... Most threads I can find are likely very outdated.
But you can ask for help here,

Good luck!
