HOX car charger with long cord - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Can anyone recommend an htc one x car charger with a long cord? My connection port is inside my center console and its pretty deep in it.I am getting a mount for the dash and I need a charger that will be long enough to reach. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Buy one with a usb port and use a usb cable of your choice

Interesting point, that route may be best, thank you! Edit, could you clarify exactly how this would work? Sorry, kind of a noob.

Get one of these (or similar).
Then use the USB cable that came with your phone, or try something like this.

I use a usb extension cable with my phone. It works great.

I have a OEM HTC car charger and the cable is quite long. When I stop by the house I will post pics. I tend to use that cable more than the OEM wall charger that comes in the box.

Here is the cord with the cable.
Please take note that I wrapped the charger 5 times. Couldn't place the cable on something to show the length so I wrapped it.

Dock pins? anyone know the pinout?

Just wondering if anyone knows the pinout for the 5 contacts on the back so i could make myself a speaker/charger dock until an official one becomes more available.
I've wondered this myself. After running a meter across the pins. Pins 2&4 seem to accept a voltage pin 5 is a ground I think. I feel through a guesstament that it follows the USB pinout in flat lateral form.

Usually I would literally just test each pin to see what was what but obviously being an expensive phone and canceling my insirance I do not want to short anything out, and yes it seems logical for one of the end contacts to be a ground, did you put a voltage into pin 2 & 4? If so how much?

I've been getting read to cut an older USB cable and test that way. But I used 4.4 volts. I to don't want to kill the warranty by ripping the phone apart. After I cut the USB I'm going to make a jig and do tests. If I find anything out I'll post here.

It's the micro USB pinout in pogo form..
1. 5vcc
2. Data -
3. Data +
4. Audio out mono
5. Ground.
Left to right pinout with the camera facing your left shoulder.

Thank you, I shall post a pic of homemade dock when I have the time to make one.

Ok. I tested. Connected HTC ONE X to lab power supply (5V 1A limit) and after a while (2-3 seconds) is started charging and 0.44A was flowing into phone. It was almost fully charged at the time.
Does anybody know how to get audio out on audio out pin?
And why Data - pin has 1,8V in reference to ground at all times?
edit:
Ok. I measured again. 0.44A and phone goes to charging (USB). I don't have time today to see what happens if you connect Data + adn - pins...
But still no luck with audio.

Check out monoprice.com. I have ordered multiple cables from them. Good quality at a reasonable price. I have a 6ft micro usb to usb that I use now. Works just as good as the stock one.
http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/ho...er-Supplies/FB341AA?HP-TouchPad-Power-Charger ?
Ditto on the suggestion for Monoprice. It's the only place I buy this sort of thing.
But that aside, if you can't find what you're looking for and want a REALLY long cable, you can easily find regular USB extension cables. Like 6 to 15 foot extension cables. Then you can plug your short micro USB cable that fits your phone into the extension.
Thx because the one that comes with the sensation is just to short I wish they made a micro USB to stand USB adaptor that would be great so I could have my phone charge via AC and it actually reach my desk.

Amazonbasics USB cable is long and good quality, nice price.

maybe try something like

Basically any USB to USB-Micro B-type cable will work.
I have an adapter cord, for USB usage,I normally use it on my computer.
Yup, monoprice is where its at. I got my 16 ft long cable for a couple bucks. It was definitely worth it.
what do u do with a 16 footer? i just want to sit in the back of the car while my wife drives
i'll second Amazon basics. i have a couple of their usb cords and they are great.
+1 monoprice

Genuine HTC USB Cable

Hi guys
Anyone know where to buy a GENUINE usb cable? They are the only ones that work with ADB, as I have many micro-usb (blackberry, generic, etc) but only my HTC one actually works with ADB. Anyone know where to buy one?
Cheers
I've purchased a few from ebay that claim to be the real deal, the only thing that says htc is a removable stick which makes me doubt the authenticity but I assure you the work fine with
adb. they only cost around $2. there are tons of them on ebay, just search htc micro usb cable
if you want the exact link to what I bought let me know and ill post

I can tell you for a fact that is not true, I've never had the original cable since my brother gave me his G2, and I've been using a Nook micro-usb cable with my phone ever since I owned it on my computer.
A Genuine micro-USB cable is no different in communication than any other micro-usb cable, if you're using windows you probably just got the USB drivers wrong for your phone, or didn't download all of the platform-tools files. Again the only thing that makes the cable genuine is the htc/t-mobile logo on it, otherwise it's the same as any other OEM/Generic cable thats been branded.
PS: Did you remember to enable USB Debugging?
Thanks guys, I ordered one off ebay for £2 and yeah I did enable usb debugging

i have tried loads of different genuine micro usb cables from various makers and never had a problem...
shame i didnt see this earlier or i could have sent you about 20 for free
So if USB Debugging is working is there no threat to using a generic USB cable? I have a generic one and rooted last night. The entire time I was nervous because there were a lot of posts about the official HTC cable. Was I worrying needlessly?
Yup, it is true some might not work but if they work once, well they should keep on working. Pretty much if you have debugging on and the proper drivers and everything else... then you type adb devices and you see your serial number, that cable is just fine. If it says waiting for device or something like that, then it is possible you have a bad cable but almost always a different problem

Thanks! That would have saved some needless worrying last night but it all worked out. Good to know for the future though!
Afaik, there are only two kinds of micro-USB cables. Normally they support both data and power (charging), but some only support charging (data pins aren't connected).
I bought some cheapest retractable micro-USB data cables from dx.com and they work just fine. The cheap retractable ones just seem to easily break after long use.

The most common chance of you getting a charge-only USB cable, is if it came with something like a Car charger. Otherwise they should always have both the power and data pins.

[Q] Best USB Cable

I know this is a silly sounding thread, but I've purchased multiple USB cables lately all that seem to quit working after 1-2 weeks to about 6 months. It's very frustrating. So I was hoping someone might point me to a reliable cable. I was thinking of purchasing a left angled cable next because almost every place I use my charger it's located on the right side of where my phone will be. This'll be my first angled cable purchase and I want this to be a lasting solution so posting this for some feedback.
What do you guys use and how long does your cable normally last?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Grompy

I don't know the brand of one cable, but it's worked for me for a long while (using it now). The other one however is actually a Sony Ericson data/charging cable, and I haven't had much problems with that one either.

I use an HTC cable. It works perfect. I wish it was longer but eh.

The only USB cables that have failed me are those super thin ones, such as the one that came with the phone. These 28/24AWG cables from monoprice should definitely last.
I use a thick blackberry cable but any thick usb cable will do.
I've had the best luck with thick blackberry cables. Just picked up a Gigaware USB cable from Radioshack a couple months ago and it's been working great as well.
I have always had luck with the one that comes with the phone.

Technical: Flex Cable

Hi all guys. when replacing a display for htc one x I happened to break a cable. has been damaged.
The cable in question is called: dock cable.
Can anyone tell me if it only serves to power the phone from the dock station, or is it essential for the operation?
Here Link
I can confirm it does NOT affect the screen/touch functionality. Not sure about wireless connectivity as I haven't tested it.
Most likely you'll only lose docking if you leave it disconnected.

I ripped the same cable nearly in 2 last night. After a bit of diy I got it back in place and together.
Even if my repair wasn't successful my phone is working correctly
