LG L9 or L7? - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am getting a new phone next year. Should i get a L9 or a L7?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium

in my oppinion you should get l9. l7 does not have enough ram and single core is aufull. you have to consider the fact that you will have the phone at least 2 years. samsung will launch 8 core in 2013 and you will have a single core with adreno 200? in my mind l9 is barely good enough. i will wait another 6 months because i belive that in this time 4 core phones will be normal and cheap.
but this is only my oppinion .

how many apps and games do you think will run on a 1ghz single core with adreno 200 until end of 2013? and you will probably keep your phone atleast 2 years? you have to ask yourself if you need your phone for sms calls and browsing OR gaming and other heavy stuff . i know money is a problem but on other hand you use your phone probably a lot so i guess it is worth to put in some extra money. or not? :silly:.

L9 all the way, the L7 isn't much better than the optimus one, the L9 is more like the galaxy nexus.

There are two models.. L9 P760 is ok but P769 is better.
Same price range.. Atrix 2 is a powerful phone!!
Samsung S duos.
Htc one V ( good display + beats audio )

Isn't LG Optimus L9 a little too big? 4,7".
Better than L7 anyway.
Anyway, I'd stay far from LG too. After an Optimus One and a Optimus 3D, I don't want to see LG anymore unless they start to release source codes faster. Or, unless someone gives me a Nexus 4

There are two things you need to consider if you are interested in running custom ROMs like CyanogenMod.
The first, and most important, is whether you can unlock the bootloader, which will allow you to use custom kernels. This is vital for using custom roms. if you can't unlock the bootloader, you can pretty much forget about custom ROMs.
the second is the internals. The best supported chips are those made by Qualcomm. anything else, unless it's an extremely popular phone like the Samsung Galaxy S range, will always have issues in custom ROMs. The clearest example of this is the decision by Sony to NOT upgrade their DUAL CORE phones with ST-Ericsson chips to Jellybean, but they WILL upgrade their SINGLE core phones with Qualcomm chips to Jellybean.
It was the reason I chose the single core Xperia J over the dual core Xperia U (both the same price) as my upgrade from my LG Optimus One. A few weeks after I purchaced the Xperia J, Sony announced that phones with ST-Ericsson chips will not be upgraded, but those with Qualcomm chips will be upgraded.
Concerning the first point, Sony is currently the best at providing an official way to unlock your phone. I REALLY wanted to stay loyal to LG, but since there is no way to unlock any of the new LG phones, I was 'forced' to go with Sony, a decision I haven't regretted one bit.
My advice, since you are on a budget, is to go with the Sony Xperia J. It has the same chip as the L7 but can be officially unlocked and will have excellent support (by me). The L9 will definitely have almost zero custom ROM support since it doesn't have a Qualcomm chip.

The issue is the Xperia J is disgustingly laggy. I've tried it out for myself in a Sony store and it was absolutely horrible. Lag at the homescreen, app drawer etc.
And even though it'll have dev support, there's only so much you can push a 1ghz single core and 512 mb of RAM to do.

[Q] What are the best Dual Core phone to buy?

Hi there im gonna buy a new phone and i want to know what is the best dual core phone if you can mention at least 5 to 10 phones would be nice thanks .
I have an Evo3D. It's a decent phone, but HTC support for devs sucks, so you may find it hard to find 100% working ROMs to load.
galaxy s2, rom development is insane. LG optimus 2x is good as well.
Go with s2 becoz it have lots of devs.

Galaxy S2 is an awesome phone and has great community support.

I recommend the motorola droid razr maxx great phone with incredible battery life.
Go for S2, it's a awesome phone.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
HTC Rezound (IMO)
But if you're looking for a lot of development, get a Samsung.
If I helped, please say thanks
HTC Vivid, but yeah, Samsung has a lot more development going on.
what about Atrix 2 and 4g or LG Optimus ? im not fan of the S2
I would personally take the Galaxy Nexus for it's dev support and on-time updates (It's a Nexus!)
But if you want sheer power in a Dual Core phone, I would wait for One S (Snapdragon S4) or take the Galaxy Note (Best Exynos yet). But with Quad cores just around the corner, you could wait for them.
I would say for the money, HTC Sensation 4G.
Mine is running at 1.62 GHz and kicks my friend's Samsung Galaxy Nexus's butt in benchmarks.
Cant beat this for $99 with contract or $250 on Ebay
Dual Core 1.2 GHz (Stock) Easily OC to 1.5+
768 MB RAM
4.3 Inch QHD Super LCD
8MP CAM, Dual Flash

Nvidia Tegra low dev support?

I was thinking is it hard for devs to make ROMS for phones utilizing Tegra? I've heard Atrix/Atrix 4G and Optimus 2X were harder to build ROMS and mods due to the Tegra which shows less dev support opposed to Qualcomn or Exynos powered phones. I just want to know that is it true? Been thinking of getting a One X or Optimus 4X HD as the GS3 dissapointed me.

Because this architecture is very expensive. As someone here wrote, most of the people at xda is less than 18 years. They can not afford to buy the latest equipment on the market. In time, they will cheap and appears more custom roms.

This is probably going to happen to us...

ok. First learn how to read. It does not mention the devices nor says at any part that it is a ram problem. Actually it does not say that moto will not upgrade their low end devices. It says that they will check if those devices can run ics and act accordingly. Then our o3d is no low end device and ram is more than enough if u look at phones running ics at the moment. I mean even gt540 got ics running, so as much as u'd like to scare people, it just won't happen...

This is just my gut feeling. LG cant even be bothered fixing existing problems with this device so why the hell should we be expecting them to be issuing ICS for us?
This is a mid range to low end device now man. Look what is being released right now... quad core devices with 1 to 2gb of ram.
We all pegged it as a flagship and thus an important device that will be updated but now its not even the flagship within its own line having already been succeded by another optimus 3d let alone within the manufacturer.
Im just saying im not expecting this to pan out the way we hope.

It doesn't really matter though. Cause as soon as the LG optimistic 3d Max gets the ics update we can port it over
I have ICS in my SONY NEO V.
Works perfect with 512RAM

Also some crap like galaxy minis 2 galaxy y and other low range phones plus some single core 1-1.2ghz phones. These are the mid-low range phones man. Dual cores are still considered high end. It is like saying that since the 1000+bhp veyron was released the ferrari became mid range....

Absolutely not. Even if the O3D was released almost a year ago, its CPU/GPU still point to a high end device. Definitely not mid end and most definitely not low end.
Even if it was mid range now, which is not, ICS is able to run in any device that is currently running Froyo or Gingerbread. And that's according to Google, not me or LG.
In any way, I very much prefer a Gingerbread that is stable, bug-free, fast and with long battery life (like the current v21E that LG has managed to release 10 months after the phone release) than a half-baked ICS (which was released in many models like the SG2).
CHANGE THE 512MB RAM to 1GB RAM

Hi,
Just downloaded the LG OPTIMUS 3D Service Manual from one of the threads.
we have software specialists who create / port new ROMs. Do we have someone who could tell us the feasibility of changing the "LP-DDR2:512MB" RAM on the PCB to a 1GB RAM?
will this question be a new thread?
Just imagine our favourite 3D P920 with a 1GB RAM!!!!!!!

Technically possible, practically rather difficult, if not impossible. You need a professional soldering station, and then you need to find 2x 4Gb (512MB) ram chips to satisfy the dual channel bit of the equation, then they with compatible pin layouts. Then, you desolder the old ram chips and resolder. And even then it's not guaranteed to work.
Hmmm!!
how about the possibility of another LP-DDR2:512MB being connected in parallel or series as in electrical circuits? possible?
schubeir
With dual channel ram plus our dual core processor with ICS we'll stomp all over other phones without issue gingerbread is not optimized for dual core and thus runs very very slow compared to what it should the dual channel ram gives us a significant boost and advantage we may as well have 1GB of ram honestly but also I thought the 3D Max we could just flash it's roms without issue I flashed acura 3D Max

[Q] xperia s vs galaxy s2

Basically my phone died n I need a new one and I have some how ended up buying both of these phones and was wondering if there were any recommendations on either I need the phone to last 8-12 months and don't mind attempting custom roms is the xperia s actually that much better and will it last without touching it I like the fact the s2 has micro ad card aswell but one has to be sold off
Oh the s2 is unlocked and the xperia s is orange locked
I prefer Galaxy S II....although its an old phone, it still gives tough competition to others and it has many CUSTOM ROMS and other stuffs too...that's the benefit of older phones.
While as go for XPERIA S if you like HD Display and Quad core CPU..etc.

Xperia t or Nexus 4 or LG optimus 4x HD

So, which phone should i buy? Xperia t or Nexus 4 or LG optimus 4x HD?
I'd say Nexus 4
It depends on what you need and how many money you can spend.
The best devices between these three are le LG Nexus 4 and the LG Optimus 4X HD. The LG Optimus 4X HD can be found at lower price in some countrys and it is the best phone for its performance.
The performance on both phones are almost equal.
The screen is way better on the LG Optimus 4X HD than on the two other phones. So if you want to watch videos and profit of the Tegra 3 effects on games with a wide screen, go buy a LG Optimus 4X HD.
The best camera is on the Xperia T so if you are looking for a photophone go for the Xperia T.
The LG Nexus 4 has got the latest updates but if you know how to flash roms, CyanogenMod roms are available and perfectly stable on the LG Optimus 4X HD and on the Xperia T. However the nexus 4 has no memory card slot, so if you want to play heavy games and listen to a lot of music, 16 Gb may not be enough. The Nexus 4 also have this bothering and boring navbar which take a space at the bottom of the screen.
The batteries are quiet equal on both IMO.
I gave you the pros and cons of these three phones. I'm using the LG Optimus 4X HD and i can tell you it is amazing, very smooth and fluid. Playing games on this phone is a pure pleasure. However the camera is not as good as on the Xperia and it does not have the great support of the Nexus 4 (but we have a lot of roms).
If I helped please press "thank"

Thanks ectoplasma22!! I want phone for music and games. In my country LG O4xHD is cheapes and N4 is most expensive. I wont buy nexus cause i need more space than 16GB. How about LG O4xHD music quality? I heard that Xperia T has brilliant music quality. And why LG has lower score in benchmark than Xperia T?
P.S. which phone is better? GS3 or LG O4xHD?
More opinions please.
Nexus 4 takes over most phones because of its 2gb ram and android support
No sd card support is no big deal for me as I have all my data uploaded on box with 50gb as I even have an xperia lww
People may complain about battery life but as I come from xperia lww, I find battery life really nice
I love everything about this phone especially the android support by xda!

how about music quality?
I recently had the nexus 4, I owned it for about 3 weeks, while its a very nice phone, super quick and will have the latest updates, I just couldn't handle the poor battery life, I mean some days I was strugglin to get 3 hours screen on time it was that bad, I possibly could've had a faulty battery, I did phone up LG but they wouldn't entertain a replacement as I brought it off ebay, before I had the nexus I did think very hard about the xperia T but we all know deep down what sony is like with there updates down the line so that sort of put me off but I have held an xperia t in my hand and it feels and looks great, I have no idea about the optimus, sorry
So I would advise u out of the 3 phones u listed, to go for the nexus 4, its probably the most future proof of the 3, and for the price ur still gettin a top class phone.
Hope ur happy with ur choice
Take care

I was confused of what device to get when replacing my Razr I that i loved but ave up after being frustrated with no custom roms, and many problemas getting it to run many games.
Nexus 4 was nearly impossible to get here in Brazil, so i ended up with a Optimus G E977 that is almost the same as Nexus 4 with 32GB, and a 13mpixel camera.
They cant really be compared to 4x HD or Xperia T, only if youre going to take price in relevance.

Ok, i dont want nexus 4 anymore cause he is most expensive (thanks to my country) and it has lack of internal memory.
So, Xperia T and LG O4X. Which is faster? Which performs better in gaming?
I think you should go with Sony Xperia T because it comes with 4.5 inches screen display,720 x 1280 pixels Resolution, 4.0.4 android operating system, 13 mega pixel camera with autofocus, Dual-core 1.5 GHz Processor,1 GB RAM, 16 GB Internal Memory, 32 GB Expandable Memory & 1850 mAh battery capacity and its work better in gaming.
