[Q] Pushing 4.1.1 ROM on 4.1.1 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have Samsung Tab 2 7" P3100
Originally had 4.0.4 which worked great.
But got OTA update n upgraded to 4.1.1
& Now it started giving me trouble, Wifi Connection is very unstable.
Connected to Wifi Network keeps popping up every 5 mins.
I cant even install things properly without worrying of it will fail or success.
so i rooted the device and reset the whole thing (Rooted to make a Titatnium Backup n all)
Problem still persists, Still the Wifi Trouble.
Without a Proper Wifi its not even worth having a Tablet.
So my Question is: Can i Push a 4.1.1 ROM from Sammobile on my current 4.1.1 ??
or should i just downgrade it to 4.0.4 & than do a upgrade via Kies rather than OTA update.
( I am thinking something in OTA messed up, so a proper ROM from sammobile might help)

Yes, you can trying to download them from sammobile.com and start to installing from odin. Make sure you have backup for your ICS 4.0.4 before replace with JB 4.1.1
Good luck..

[Q] Error message for Jelly bean OTA

Whenever I try to do the OTA update for Jelly Bean, I get an error message saying that Service is Unvailable, even if I have full reception or Wifi connection. While I realize I can easily update the software using open1your1eyes0 thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114, I'd rather just keep the phone stock for the time being.
Is there a way to overcome this error message? Additionally, for some reason Verizon thinks I'm still using my nexus device and won't reupdate my phone to S3, even though I switched Sims.
I have had the same problem on other phones when i was trying to update. The only solution that i have found to work is a Factory Reset. If you dont want to do that however you can always flash the STOCK update through ODIN and you DO NOT have to root your phone to install the STOCK image. The details are in the link that you posted. Just download #8 it has no root and the stock recovery image.
I activated a new sim and that seemed to do the trick. I'm tempted to root the phone eventually. I've just noticed I've had some GPS and 4G data connection issues after I root my device.

[Q] Updating galaxy tab2 10.1 p5113

Forum members:
I recently user rooted my device per the forum excellent instructions but now am unable to to update the firmware for the android OS. When I get the popup notifying me that an upgrade has been downloaded, I go through the drill of rebooting to the Odin screen and then reboot but am then advised that the upgrade failed and something about using Kies. I user rooted the device in anticipation of installing Ubuntu but haven't done it yet. I intended to be able to dual boot depending on what I am working on. I use the android OS most of the time and it works ok but will not upgrade itself. I have searched the posts regarding the inability to upgrade android when the system is rooted but haven't found anything that I understand or that tells me whether or not it is even possible to upgrade the android OS when user rooted. Can anyone answer the question succinctly and if it is possible point me to instructions on how to do it. Any help is sincerely appreciated.

Hi. That's right, you can't make OTA official updates anymore if you rooted the tablet.
You can however download the new firmware version from sammobile (official non-rooted) or some custom version from XDA, then flash it with odin or mobile odin (for official), or CWM (for custom "zip").
Here's a tutorial for Galaxy Note, but it might work for your tablet too - anyway it gives you an idea of how that can be done. The written procedure is here.
going through the same issue...
I am having the same troubles as the person who started this thread. I rooted my samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 from the instructions that I found on this forum. I also installed ClockWork Mod recovery as per the rooting instructions. Now that I am hearing that I will be unable to update to jelly bean (official) because I rooted my device what can i do to work around this problem?
What if we reboot into Clock Work Mod recovery and use the option to restore device to stock firmware? If we did that option it would restore the tablet back to its factory resetting and then could we upgrade to Jelly Bean using the "software update" option?
Or is downloading a firmware from sammobile the best option?
I am really not sure about what to do next...
Hope to hear some kind of response on what to do next...
You can get JB stock from sammobile and flash it with odin. Or you can get a custom JB rom from xda and flash it with cwm. There's nothing complicated about upgrading, both ways are good. I would pick the second one, this way you stay rooted.

4.1.2 update for N8010 doesn't update

I own a Galaxy Note 10.1 WiFi N8010, was bought in Germany quite some time ago (so CSC is German),
It came with 4.0.3, which was later updated to 4.0.4 and then to 4.1.1. Currently it is running Jellybean 4.1.1.
I had found the Exynos exploit and used it to root my device. The 4.1.2 update came out so I unrooted my device.
The "Device Status" shows "OFFICIAL".
The device received an OTA package, started installing it, started the count to 100%, and at 28-29 percent, the update stopped, the device rebooted, reported a failure and sent me to KIES.
I have some problems with KIES so I am looking for other solutions.
I thought maybe I'd use Mobile Odin to flash the stock firmware but I found it needed a flashkernel which I do not know how nor want to install right now. I was thinking about using ODIN to flash the firmware, but the size of the firmware scared me. I am used to flash 300MB SBF files on my Motorola Defy but this 1GB firmware is insane! I am afraid my computer will suddenly shut down and I will get a hard brick. Anyway, assuming I got over this fear, I have a couple of questions:
1. Does flashing with ODIN delete the user data?
2. Assuming I want to delete my data (like factory reset) - what options should I choose in ODIN when I flash?
3. Are there any options not including ODIN, KIES or the computer in general?

[Q] Update stock rooted galaxy tab

Hey all, I have a bought a galaxy tab 2 on android version 4.1.1 a while ago.
Back then I rooted the tablet so I could run whatsapp etc. on it.
After some research last days I noticed there were a few updates for the tab, and I decided that i want 4.1.2, (but still with root)
now my question is(since I can't update over the air):
How can i update my tab to version 4.1.2 while keeping the root acces and without losing or need to reinstall my apps?
because if i download the stock 4.1.2 ROM and install it, I lose all my apps and I need to reinstall it (from my experience with the htc legend).
thanks in advance!
Make a backup in CWM and install the ota; it seems that usually with this device OTA's will install properly when rooted.
You know, it's a sad day when your cellular service is faster than your home broadband.

No, that is the problem. It is not possible because it will say taht my device is modified. But i decided to try cyanogenmod on it. And if it doesn't suit me then i will install stock 4.1.2.
but still thanks
