First make sure that ,zip is valid, try to test it on your Windows, Linux or Mac machine, any app like winzip or winrar will tell you that it's ok or not
Second, in my case I did place the rom in my SDcard (/sdcard/externalstorage/sd something) instead of the internal SDcard and did work

Make sure the file name of ROM you're going to flash from SD card is RAPHIMG.NBH and that it is in the root folder. Also remember about installing hard-SPL mod. You can still upgrade firmware using Active Sync without taking care of ROM file name.
Moved as not ROM Development.
Hi There
I need some help here.
I am trying to install the gingerbread ROM onto my Desire HD, And Im having some trouble.
I have rooted, S-OFF and flashed the clockwork Recovery.
Now I boot into recovery, wipe data, and dalvik cache, Then I select the zip file
from the list, It begins the install for 2 seconds, then stops and brings up this error:
Cant open "filename.zip"
(bad)
Install aborted.
Please can someone help me out here!

can be various things...
1-- have you checked the md5 checksum of the file???
2-- try to download again, to change the file name and then copy paste DIRECTLY to sd card root and try again..
in adition.. ensure you that you are using the recommened CWM..
WHAT´S the rom that you want to flash???and what´s your CWM version?

I am using CWM version 3.0.2.6
I have re downloaded already, renamed twice and the file is in the root folder.
I am trying to flash "PD98IMG_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.36.405.8_R_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_187331_signed"
I have no idea what md5 and checksum is?
Im new to all this
Is that an official ROM?
MD5 is a hash value placed in a packet to insure integrity, pretty much the original packet and packet received do a check to make sure the hash is the same otherwise the file was corrupted or manipulated along the way.

Hello xdawesome forum,
If I want to make my own .zip file to flash it using CWM and boot in some linux distro; say debian, what should be included in this .zip file?
Is it as simple as putting my .img file in a .zip file?
I think your best option is to follow this tuto : whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Debian
If you try to flash directly a debian img, you'll miss some libraries and won't even boot.

Hey, so when I try to restore my backup with TWRP I always get this error "Failed to mount '/preload' (invalid argument)"...
On YouTube, I didn't find any working solution. I really need help with this issue, so pls respond asap if you can help me.
I really appreciate any kind of help.
Thanks in advance!
Is your TWRP ported from another device? This error happens when there is no partition called prelaoder on your device OR if your mount points are not correct. Extract the TWRP and your stock recovery. Copy file called goldfish from your stock recovery to TWRP. you will find it in the ramdisk folder. This file contains all the mount points. If this file is missing try to find other files with mount points
How can I solve it, can you explain step by step please, I am a beginner in the custom rom and yesterday I got screwed when I was trying to install magisk and a multi nose file, I had to press the other one because I saw a video installing it, it seems that it was not compatible
