[Q] Root to Transformer Prime (TF201) JB stock? - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys
I´m buying a second hand transformer prime.TF201 but no post it in developers forum yet
This tablet have a JB stock rom version so isn´t roted unafortunaly.
My question is: I´ts possible rooted or flashed this stock ROM or downgrade? The last I read, that only roted the ICS version, It´s true?
Thx :good:

I miss one question
How I can see if my Transformer device It´s unlocking?

If your tf201 was unlocked with the asus tool, then when it boots it will say 'bootloader unlocked' in the top left.
As far as I'm aware you cannot unlock if you upgraded to JB before unlocking, it seems to implied by the prerequisits section of:
androidroot__dot__mobi__slash__t3_nvflash/
for some reason it wont let me post urls, so you can hopefully work out the url that i mean above (t3_nvflash is one word)

cool

Unfortunately, you can't re-lock your bootloader, as far as I know. So your choice is either upgrade to the Asus official Jelly Bean the hard way or flash a custom rom.
To upgrade to Asus official JB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377
If you do upgrade to Asus JB manually, beware that you can't flash any other ROM aside from stock-based because of changes in the bootloader, so once you do upgrade you're limited to flashing 4 ROMs, i.e. CleanROM, Jelly Bean Hydro, and 2 other ROMs that I cant remember off the top of my head.
Or, you could flash Cyanogen Mod 10 (and ROMs based off of AOSP) without upgrading to the ASUS official JB, in which case you get to experience JB without changing your bootloader. Do this if you're not going to miss ASUS-specific apps. Here's the link to CM10 nightly build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845200
I recommend you go through this thread as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
Hope that helps bro.
And the next time, give a good title for your OP as ' i want to upgrade to JB' or something else, not your FB or People title who say nothing.
It will be better to give you a more appropriate help
Thanks in advance
yes thanks for the help im now on the asus jelly bean and will now look to installing a custom rom on there to get the best out of my device, and yes I must admit my title is pretty ****e and need to think before posting it lol

And do you know that you have one button :
EDIT/DELETE (down - to the right) => click
and you will see an another screen, and a another button : Go advanced (down - to the right, always) => click
a another screen, and on this screen, you can change the title of your OP
It's easy, isn't it ?

[Q] Rooted, unlocked on 4.1.1, How can I update to 4.2x?

I have a rooted and unlocked tf300t running 4.1.1 and CleanRom 2.5. After being away from the scene for awhile, I came back to see that they had released 4.2 for my device. Is it possible to update my device to 4.2 or am I stuck at 4.1.1 seeing as how I am not running an Asus firmware. I am really overwhelmed right now, and getting very frustrated. Any insight would be a tremendous help. Thank you very much for even taking the time to read my post.

I would say....
Return to stock Asus ROM v4.1
Reflash appropriate recovery...
Once stable, flash stock Asus 4.2...
Reflash appropriate recovery which will be different than 4.1 recovery.... Read the twrp thread carefully for info on this. If in doubt, there's an upgrade guide in the general section.

Rooting? Stability? Unlocked Bootloader still possible?

I have a few questions...
I've been around xda for a bit rooting and flashing roms but this TF300 business sounds a bit more complicated so I have some questions.
Build# JOP40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.8-20130225
I have a TF300T running stock 4.2.1 rooted with a bunch of root mods to make things a bit smoother but it looks like custom rom would be still faster than this. Am I correct?
How stable are the custom roms in comparison to the stock rom? Will I be able to get OTA updates in the future if ASUS decides to release more?
Is my bootloader still unlockable if I'm running whatever came with the last stock update?
How hard it is to brick a TF300? I've had 3 phones that were pretty much unbrickable. (Assuming one does not flash the wrong files to the wrong phone)
Which tutorial should I be follow? Can I unlock the bootloader on 4.2.1's bootloader or do I have to downgrade?
Is this sub-forum not friendly enough to help out a new guy who has read through many topics to try and help himself first?

TF700KL rooted - How about a custom rom?

I managed to get my Asus TF700KL rooted using Framaroot (Gandalph exploit) - With that done, I'd love to use a custom ROM as the stock ROM feels extremely slow...
Does anyone know of a ROM that is compatible with the Snapdragons S4 processor the is in the TF700KL?
I'm also aware that the tablet would need to be unlocked... Guess I'll have to fight Asus to get it unlocked, as I haven't been able to find a tool for that (There's on for the other TF700's, but not for the KL one... and from what I've heard, it won't work on mine...)
But hey, got root! That's a first step... Though a custom ROM would be nice...
Hey,
that's good news. Now what we need is a custom rom!!
My Tf700KL visited Asus repair service twice. It came back without the Vodafone ROM version(was bought at Vodafone) and is working a lot better now. However, it still is slow.
I'll hook on to this thread...
My Transformer is baught at Telia in Denmark, branded to Vodafone (don't know why) and I would like du debrand it or better get a custom ROM on it.
Got the same problems, unlocking isn't possible with tools from Asus website (running ICS 4.1. and according to Asus customer service won't be upgraded to 4.2) and I can't find a suitable CM.
Any help would be appreciated
Great news - today Asus made an official unlock utility for TF700KL

[Q] Questions about rooting/unlocking TF700

Hi all,
I'm new to XDA, and somewhat new to android. I have a long history of jailbreaking iDevices, so this whole concept isn't too foreign to me. I have an Asus Transformer TF700T, and I get speed hiccups way too often, and even after "repair," it still doesn't work 100%, so I decided to root and/or unlock it to run a new ROM.
Question 1: I'm aware that unlocking it will void the Asus 1 year warranty, however, I purchased a squaretrade warranty as well, and would like to know if it voids ST's warranty, and/or, will they not repair it, even for non-OS problems like physical damage?
Question 2: Once I unlock the device, I know I won't be allowed to receive OTAs, but will I still be able to update the Android firmware by downloading it on my PC and moving it onto the device? Or will I be stuck on the same firmware 'till I wipe my device or something?
Thanks

AFAIK Squaretrade does not care if you unlocked or rooted your device, they will repair/replace it regardless.
If you unlock, why would you want to run the stock rom and rely on Asus updates? Unlocking or rooting by itself will not make your tablet run any better on stock software. The benefit of unlocking is that you can run a custom rom like CROMi-X on this tablet and you won't be looking back ever!
CROMi-X unlocks the potential of this tablet and is better supported than any stock rom!
Full disclosure: Yes, I am a hopeless fanboy of CROMi-X
There are also other custom roms for this tablet like CyanogenMod or Paranoid, but IMO CROMi-X is the most stable and best supported rom for this device. Look for the thread in the Development section.
Since I own the TF700 there have been - what? Three updates to the stock rom?
CROMI and it's JB 4.2.1 successor CROMi-X have been updated - jeez, I lost count - at least 10 times??? And it gets better each time!

It made me giggle and laugh out loud each time trying a new task - so ridiciously much better it was...

First Root/Unlocking
Hello xda'ers, I am new to this topic and would like to migrate from stock to cromi-X. I'm currently on JB 4.2.1 and build 10.6.1.14.10. I'm also aware that going ahead with this will void my warranty as well as disable accessibility to OTAs.
Thanks

correct, cromi (along with the other roms here) are better than any Asus OTA will be Asus publish the firmware on their site anyway which is very easy to flash from a custom recovery.
