Unfortunately, you can't re-lock your bootloader, as far as I know. So your choice is either upgrade to the Asus official Jelly Bean the hard way or flash a custom rom.
To upgrade to Asus official JB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377
If you do upgrade to Asus JB manually, beware that you can't flash any other ROM aside from stock-based because of changes in the bootloader, so once you do upgrade you're limited to flashing 4 ROMs, i.e. CleanROM, Jelly Bean Hydro, and 2 other ROMs that I cant remember off the top of my head.
Or, you could flash Cyanogen Mod 10 (and ROMs based off of AOSP) without upgrading to the ASUS official JB, in which case you get to experience JB without changing your bootloader. Do this if you're not going to miss ASUS-specific apps. Here's the link to CM10 nightly build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845200
I recommend you go through this thread as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
Hope that helps bro.

And the next time, give a good title for your OP as ' i want to upgrade to JB' or something else, not your FB or People title who say nothing.
It will be better to give you a more appropriate help
Thanks in advance

yes thanks for the help im now on the asus jelly bean and will now look to installing a custom rom on there to get the best out of my device, and yes I must admit my title is pretty ****e and need to think before posting it lol

Why would you not want Jelly Bean 4.1?
I think you need to unlock the bootloader, install a custom bootloader, then you can flash a prerooted ROM
My problem in rooting is I have 1.94.631.3
I expect Rogers will not see 4.0.4 for a long time.

Rogers didn't limit us like AT&T did with our southern users. Go to htcdev.com, register and unlock your bootloader. Once complete, you can push TWRP via fasboot to your phone. From there, you can boot into recovery via bootloader and flash a custom ROM that is already rooted for you.

AFAIK, JB is still a work in progress, I think OP is looking for something stable for a DD. You're right about that last part though, Canadian carriers are stupid slow in getting updates pushed to their users.
I read if you go 4.04 you will have setting issues with LTE when you upgrade to 4.1
I also read CynogenMod 10 is pretty stable not too many complaints, daily updates.
If I read right the process where you unlock the bootloader, push TWRP should work with my device too ....
It should not matter I have 1.94.631.3
Maybe I am waiting for nothing.

When stable builds of JB get released, I'm sure the dev community will be able to troubleshoot any issues.
It's only the AT&T version of the HOX that is locked down. All other variants (to my knowledge) are unlockable through htcdev.com. Once you have an unlocked bootloader, you will be able to flash TWRP and then a new ROM.
But I don't want to lost all my setting , apps , msg , ect . ...

[a700] Stock JB update or CM10

Just got my a700 today and enjoy immediately got a notification that the JB update was available. What I would like to know from some of the more knowledgeable members (and almost everyone is more knowledgeable than me) is should I go ahead and install the Acer JB update or should I root, unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom? I. have read that because Acer has not released a certain type of code, that with the stock JB update I will not be able. to root or unlock the bootloader.

I have flashed my a700 to Pawitp's latest CM10 Nightly build. the screen reaction is better than the stock one. And all the stock apps are removed. Nice!! But once my a700 suddenly rebooted, maybe the conflict of apps. All in all i will suggest flashing to the CM10. Sorry for my poor English.

Hey,
Your CWM doesn't work, as it's for the ICS Bootloader. They (Germans) have a CWM for JB, but.... due to issues in the past with some early CWM's, a lot are a little afraid to use it. I haven't seen a lot of problems on the German site, so maybe it is ok. I have it installed on my 701, but haven't had the need to use it yet.
As with root, wait another day or so, and my Mate Civato will finish the modded boot.img for the JB 700, so you guys won't have to do a mess of things.
Will be a simple root.

gingerbread ,as i have updated it to ics it am not sure about "[PROJECT]Bootloader Unlock"
second reason for not been sure about "[PROJECT]Bootloader Unlock" is , when this unlocker was released there was atrix 2with at&t and in india its is releaded without at&t.so i m confused whether it will work or not
as motorola is not providing any more update for atrix 2(at least in india) ,now i am in very much need for bootloader unlocker
plz help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
There's no bootloader unlock for no one.
Why do you want to unlock your bootloader if there's no room that requires other kernel?
^+1. And there is no need for the bootloader to be unlocked to flash the roms in our dev section.! Just follow the instructions there!

i have 3 question
Q1-i doidnt under stand ur point becoz befor e posting this thread i googled for custom rom or cm10 & i found this on a motorola official discussion
(if u google "ics or bootloader unlock on atrix 2" then its 3rd option)
"Question Title:
ICS Update or Unlock Bootloader
Comment:
I have brought Brand new Motorola Atrix 2 (Indian Version and not US AT&T model) last month hoping it will be getting ICS update, but now my Skyrocket got updated to ics and Updated my SGS I9000 to JellyBean using CM10. Being such a capable device Atrix 2 is still running on 2.3.6 (Out of Box), which is also having network connectivity issue here in India. I now feel it was a mistake buying a Motorola Atrix2 and could have bought Sony Xperia P which is in same price bracket which is getting update much faster.
If Motorola can`t update Atrix2 to stable ICS, i would like them to unlock bootloader for same as there are many developers around who can create custom ROMS (ICS or even JB) much stable & faster than Motorola team.
To make matter worse yesterday news came out that Motorola are shutting down operations in Asia Pacific. I do hope they can provide us with either a stable ICS update or Unlock the bootloader.

First, forget about unlocking the bootloader. We don't need to unlock it to install the roms that we have in the developers sections.
Secondly, we have stable ics, and now, finally, we have a stable Jellybean for international phones.
But, i'm going to respond your questions in order.
1: The info that are you reading, is ooooold. If you want stable ICS, check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874
Those are for international Atrix 2. It means, that ones they were not bought in AT&T.
And, if you have international atrix 2, you can choose jellybean, too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092107
2: Yes, you have to flash 2 .zip's files into the custom recovery.
I don't know too much about that. But, if you read a little, you'll see that is easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988411
3: There is no kernel available for overclocking besides the one we are using.
If you are trying to say the .zip's that you have to flash with Cwm, read the answer 2.
^^+1 what he said, but I would like to add, do yourself a huge favor and read EVERYTHING that pertains to your phones model BEFORE trying anything. Then read it all again. Then when you think you understand, read it again. You will see that most all of your questions have been previously answered, and you will gain knowledge in the process. It's a win/win for everybody that has the patience and puts in the effort to learn on their own. Good luck to ya.

[Q] Picking up a refurb Xoom (Wifi) - how best to update, unlock, install ROM?

Hi all,
I am receiving a factory refurbished Wifi-only Xoom next week. I am guessing that it will be on 3.0, and I'd like to bring it up to the latest JB and install a custom rom (probably EOS 3 for the moment, then EOS 4 at the next MR).
What's the best procedure for this? Should I take OTA updates up to 4.1.2, then unlock, root and install a ROM? Or should I just unlock, root and flash a ROM from the start, i.e. skipping the OTA updates? Or does it not really matter?
Thanks in advance.

Not really answering your question, just an opinion .....
Why not just leave it on OTA 4.1.2? Unless you have a real need to unlock or some pressing need for 4.2. In my experience the difference between 4.1.2 and 4.2 is insignificant. EOS 3 is conceivably a back step on the OTA updates. Continually updating for updating's sake is fine if that is your hobby (and that is why you are here in these forums), but it might not achieve much. And you could replace a smooth stable 4.1.2 with a buggy and laggy 4.2 - for what?
If there is some app or function you need that requires root or a custom rom then that is a different story.
I am awaiting a refub MZ604 myself so I share you impulse, but I am taking a wait and see approach and giving it some thought.

Hey, thanks a lot for your advice. I wasn't so much counting on jumping ahead to 4.2 just yet, so I'm with you there.
Regarding a 4.1.1 ROM vs the 4.1.2 OTA, I had thought (just based on my personal experience with other Android devices, my Razr in particular) that a nice 4.1.1 ROM like EOS 3 would outperform stock, even a version that is one minor update ahead, since the ROM would (presumably) be optimized, free of bloatware, etc. Perhaps that's not a big issue with the Xoom?
Again, thanks. I'll probably take your advice and see how things go with 4.1.2 OTA for a while.
Interestingly, the refurbished Xoom came with 4.1.2 pre-loaded. I wasn't expecting that. Seems to be running fine.
Mine arrived today. It only took 11 days to cross the world. An MZ604 GED device. Came with 4.04 then promptly updated itself to 4.1.1 then a few minutes later it upgraded itself to 4.1.2. It is pure Android and runs fast and smoothly.
More than happy with this refurb - it looks brand new and 4.1.2 is new enough.

It would help to put up what kind of Android version you're on. Just simply putting your kernel version doesn't help at all.

Dude, you ARE on Jelly Bean. Android 4.1.x - 4.3.x is all Jelly Bean.
As for changing the kernel version, there isn't much of a choice for Android 4.1.2. You'd have to root it and use a different Android version if you really want a different kernel version (doesn't matter honestly).
Read about rooting and unlocking boot loader , flashing a Rom, and updating your bootloader (modem). I like 4.1.2 Roms, Obsessed Rom, TKRom, Clean 7 Rom, and Synergy. Each have themes that are great. Read up on rooting, unlocking boot loader, flashing Rom and changing basebands BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE. Each carrier and model is not the same so make sure you only follow directions for your specific device model and carrier, if not you will most likely have a paperweight. Good Luck.
Lean kernel , KT747, and a few others have 4.1.2 kernels available.
