[Q] using note as stylus - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is it possible to use our note 10.1 to work as stylus board such as wacom boards, I mean connect your note to pc through usb and draw directly on your pc drawing application , it will be agreat if that possible, I used remote desktop but that's not work because of delay and accuracy . I have an idea to use android apps looks like a black rectangular with 5 customized virtual button and send a pen pressure level and position as input to pc driver software and then used as input to photoshop or other painting software
Thx guys

virtual mouse for ppc?

i mean, is that possible to develop a SW for ppc,
Which shows a mouse in ppcs screen, and we can use navigator key control the mouse.
That's quite easy, but would there be much point?
The program you're using would then loose use of the control pad.
An idea tho would be, say:
Record button toggles mouse (shows/hides cursor)
Joystick/pad controls mouse cursor
Contacts button sends left click
Calendar button sends context menu click.
It could work. I might play with this sometime.
V
there is a soft for virtual mouse
if u have a ppc with usb host function then u can connect ur computer's mouse to the ppc using the usb connection there is a software available for the mouse pointer here's the link
http://www.deje.gmxhome.de/download.html
u can make it someting special.
for exmaple.
in SW setting we can choose by which programme activating the mouse.

yes i know about this.
but a virtual mouse does not mean only a tool to control the ppcpe.
it can be very helpful for one hand ppcpe operating.
sometimes we have only one free hand to use ppcpe.
Hi vijay or other developer
Any development/thought on virtual mouse - I like the idea of non stylus control of my wizard esp when in case. You could assign a button to switch on and off. You could call it VJmouse or VJrodent I would pay for this - I know that's music to your ears
Cheers
generating mouse clicks is easy enough but the drawing of the cursor in different locations would be the harder part. I have not seen cursors drawn in places other than the centre. How could that be done without drawing to the screen buffer?
One possible idea is a transparent window, say a 16 by 16. Any way I just wanted to mention that HP iPaq 4700 has a native app in its ROM that shows a mouse cursor and lets the arrow key area act as a touch pad just like on a laptop.
Guys, this is by the guy that did the FileDialogChanger, a genius in his own time:
http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/2039/FakeCursorPPC.zip
Please indicate if it does or doesn't work. I don't think it would be too difficult to write a new mouse emulator, but there's no point reinventing the mouse wheel
V
Thanks vijay that's wicked
Finally true one handed operation of my pda - es
So I want have to pay you all my bucks after all!
I have tried this app and it is really good but has a couple of bugs. one is that it won't delete or backspace on the virtual keyboard, second it call and end call buttons and softkeys are immobilized when the fake cursor is operational. If it could be developed further and possibly include other pointer styles it would be an excellent app - I think marketable and some thing that should be part of the OS.
Smartphone users will be particularly interested as I am being a long trrm spv user.
cheers
wicked man... I like it

I'd be interested in a "mouse" or "Cursor control" app.
IMHO the one thing missing from the Universal is a "clit-mouse" (the tiny joystick type thing you used to get on Laptops). I dont' think it would have been that hard to implement physically either.

can someone describe exactly what this does?
Does it slow the device down at all?
(and has anyone translated the txt file in that zip???? )
Yes works qute will as a cursor / mouse you can control with d-pad. no does not slow device down and no can't translate txt but is quite self explanatory when you use. Give it a go tis cool!
Find attached for other users in case link goes down
I have added mouse cursor just place in same directory as fake cursor.exe and you will have typical mouse pointer.

I assume the .exe in the zip is for installing over Activesync? Or is it run on the PPC itself?
Run on ppc itself - i stuck it in \program files\

Just put any 16 color win95 cursor file in the same directory as FakeCursor.
a program called GoldIcon creates cursors that are compatible with FakeCursor.
I love this app, I have a top soft key dedicated to this so I can activate/deactivate it at any time.
there is no installation; the EXE can be located anywhere on the device and creates 2 lnk files in windows/startmenu/programs when run:
FakeCursor.lnk (toggle on and off) and FakeCursor Settings.lnk
Doesn't seem to be anything FAKE about it. It's a real Dpad mouse!
Thanks for the tip - do you have any you could post particularly mouse style pointer.
thanks
can you use XP mouse pointers, I havent seen a win95 machine for years.... or if you have one around would be great if you could simply post a few.

MobileSrc MobileRemote 1.1 - NO SERVERSIDE CLIENT! (Mouse/Keyb/MediaRemote)

PLEASE TRY IT ON DIFFERENT OS's AND DIFFERENT DEVICES AND LET US IN ON YOUR EXPERIENCE
Thanks
At last. A remote control which doesn't require a server side client.. or.. to be more precise, it imitates a Bluetooth Mouse/Keyboard/Media controller, which means that your regular windows XP/Vista/7 (and maybe others?), your Mac OS, your PS3.. or your WM PDA can be controlled without installing additional server side clients.
I'll save you the trouble of multiclicking all kinds of screenshots and youtube videos - http://www.mobilesrc.com/MobileRemote.aspx.
MobileRemote isn't free and costs 8.99$/11.99$ - prices based on something i can't really figure out.
BUT, and that's a serious BUT, the main features of MobileRemote (from now on MR) - which are Keyboard and Mouse are EXTREMELY useful. the mouse feature, unlike in Salling's Salling Clicker, is much more precise because while Salling's mouse covers the entire screen, MR covers a specific range which makes the mouse very useful even on VGA devices. The mouse also has 2 left/right buttons, unlike in salling which requires a tap on the screen itself.
The keyboard is HUGE, has a nice LCDLike display when typing, has all kinds of symbols and shortcut keys matching windows (and Mac, it seems).. ctrl..alt..shift... and so forth.
There's also a G-Sensor Mouse which allows you to move your mouse when tilting your phone (or using the D-PAD).
In addition, there is a MediaPlayer/MediaCenter controller which allows basic actions like play, pause, fast forward, fast rewind, and track switching.
Now to the neat stuff.
MR allows you to record macros of movements and clicks to have your comp perform actions instantaneously. You can record.. and then load.
This can save you a lot of time if you're looking to "add" additional features of the app.
Feedback(?)
- The tilt mouse's resolution isn't good. it'll be be a tad jumpy.. and this is based on me trying.. not on that youtube video you can watch in their webpage.
- The keyboard is nearly perfect. I can honestly tell you I've never used such a comfortable and well adjusted keyboard. yes, it is a full screen keyboard, but as it's meant to control another device rather than your own, I guess it's important to have it respond fast enough and that you wouldn't have to delete 2 chars every 4 seconds. The keyboard also supports Portrait/Landscape modes to make everything even more comfortable. You also get typing feedback, somewhat like FingerKeyboard.
- The mouse.. it's almost like using your laptop's pad. Percise, clear, and even includes a scrolling bar on the right side. Tried that as well.. very well built.
- Reponse time for all features is very good. I tried a few minutes of excessive typing and moving and clicking. All went well.
- Pairing could be a ***** if not performed correctly, but following the instructions makes it easy enough. Oh, by the way, pairing might have to be redone if you already paired your device with your PC/MAC/PS3/PDA as it requires your device to be identified as a mouse and keyboard as well, rather than just a phone.
- Resolutions. right now, MR only supports QVGA/VGA resolutions. keep that in mind.
Comparison
Well, I won't waste your time comparing MR to any other Remote Control other than Salling since i don't see the point.
To make things clear, Salling Clicker and MobileRemote are different.
Yes, Salling Clicker allows you to write scripts, use XML based files to do pretty much everything you want and it can serve you better using Winamp, MediaPlayer, BSPlayer, system based options, etc.
What Salling doesn't offer (yet), is VGA support (although just a week ago or so, a member in Xda-devs changed the exe file to have bigger buttons, which i'm working with, but it isn't perfect), PS3/PDA support, and a decent mouse and keyboard, which is widely needed.
I use Salling to control my media, because there isn't a better competitor yet (not even G-Remote, which I also love, but doesn't support Winamp, which would be a basic feature in any remote control in my eyes), but for Mouse/Keyboard, I wouldn't think twice. 10$ isn't too much to pay if you really need it.
I have been asked more than thrice, if there's a mobile remote which doesn't require a server side client...
Well... here you go.
TESTS

4. Ubuntu 8.10 (Gnome and XFCE, also with Blueman)
Works on Topaz against
1. Windows Vista ultimate 64 bit & 7 Ultimate 64 bit !
DOESNT work on Rhodium for some reason
Thanks for the heads-up! I may update my Media Controller bible with the new app.
you're invited to remove the sticky if you move this to another thread. no point in having this in 2 different places and taking up space.
BTW, in what configuration did you test it?
I've tested it on my HTC Universal and x51v (bot running WM6.1 and the MS BT stack - Widcomm isn't supported) against two (BT discoverable) Win XP desktops (Thinkpad a31p and HP TC1100). It didn't find the desktops at all. Did you have similar issues?
I ran it on a Diamond against a Toshiba Laptop running Vista with MS Stack and a Windows 7 Desktop with that new weird BT interface microsoft are running).
both worked.
Notice you need to pair the device from the pc WHILE running the pairing process in MobileRemote.
I might create a video to show how to pair.
I managed to pair with an ASUS EEE PC 1000HE running WinXP and a WIDCOMM driver and it works perfectly.

Thanks, this may have been the problem - I thought it would find all the desktops, without my pairing it from the desktops.
I suggest we list the OS's and device types it works on...
OS/Device list started. please let me know which device you use and if it at all works.
please list (as i did), the OS, Stack and type of PC.
I'd also like to know if you tried pairing to another device like another PDA or PS3..
thanks

In MobileRemote, how to move mouse pointer when when left button is pressed and held ?
hehe.. just tried it and it didn't work. didn't notice that before and i've been using it for quite a while now. apparently, it wasn't as important to me as it is to you.
I will bring it up with the programmer.
there is a drag and drop but unfortunately i need you hold down the left click on the mouse option of the program. I say 3 sec or so. That's the best its going to get for now other than that i have no complaints about this awesome program, AND I am using MR to write this so there u go...
MOD EDIT:
WAREZ WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN THIS FORUM!
warned!
so i have an xperia which i connect to my bluetooth enabled navigation systm in my car. since the phones blutooth is able to connect, is it logival to think that this program would allow me to use the phone as a wireless remote?
Do i understand that you're trying to confirm your bluetooth is working correctly? because regardless.... there's no reason why it wouldn't work just like on any other phone with bluetooth.
Topaz & Rhodium
Topaz (Diamond2) working fine onboth windows Vista ultimate 64 bit & 7 Ultimate 64 bit !
Rhodium (Touch Pro2) not working on either platform. I have version 1.1, and it cant connect to the new bluetooth stack.
Crap.... rhodium/fuze would be the 2 obvious choices for this software....

Good Art or Sketch apps for the TPT?

I am an artist and picked up the TPT as an economical alternative to a Windows resistive tablet PC.
So far I am impressed with this thing, however, I cant seem to find any art-friendly apks designed to utilize the N-Trig technology with palm rejection fluidly.
I've used Sketchbook Pro which is mediocre and leaves much to be desired, such as pressure sensitivity and palm rejection (in which Quill excels at but isnt designed to be a true art app).
Other apps are for the most part poor, IMO.
Any suggestions? I've search inside and outside the Market with no success. I'd be willing to beta test apps to those of you who are software devs.
MODS: Feel free to move this if posted in incorrect section.

You know what, I just discovered that - thanks.
I thought this app was limited but I see some potential. Unless there are alternatives out there, I'd have to wear a cotton glove to stop the detection of my palm when resting it on the surface.
I found Sketch N Draw is OK also, but doesnt allow too many "free-hand" options to be considered a serious tool.
Sketchbook is the best, PS Touch is a far second (there are glitches with stylus input). Neither of them are adequate for doing really serious work.

Are you a lefty or righty there are settings for that that may help with palm rejection I don't have to much issue with palm rejection you also have to get use to it there is a small trick to it draw first before resting your palm after that rejection works good from what I noticed as far a more functioning drawing program there is none the adobe apps were a disappointment

You may want to try to hide the status bar - that does at least prevent some interruptions by the clock or the app wheel popping up while using the pen.

Parallel SBS (side by side) user interface for Android?

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking on a virtual/augmented reality project in which you wear a wielders mask (like this) and an android smartphone attached to its vizor. Because the phones screen is going to be so close to the eyes I need to know if it's possible to change the user interface to side by side parallel format stereoscopic view. That way it will be possible for the eyes to focus to the image onscreen with the aid of convex lenses. It doesn't have to be 3D, i just need a technique to turn what's shown on the screen to side by side parallel format.
Please reply, thanks...

Nice concept. It might turn useful. I guess you want something like this (it's for tablets only) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nqr.splitviewtablet&hl=en
And, mixed with this application (or one of this type) - Transparent screen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=botweb.transparent.screen&feature=search_result
And a transparent launcher from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=naveen.Transparent&feature=search_result
could work. It remains to put it all together.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm interested with the revival of VR headsets with Google Cardboard.
I would like a simple side by side repeated image in the Android OS launcher. Then I could view PDF documents, edit text documents, browse the web, watch any movie through Google Cardboard's stereoscopic headset. Honestly, I don't even care about the 3D aspect. Just to be able to use the phone as a monitor in conjunction with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard would be awesome. Although, reading documents while laying down in bed probably wouldn't last long, I'd pass out quick enough!

Stylus or mouse as pointing device?

Hi,
Just got a new Tab S 10.5 and planning to convert the tablet into a laplet. I will use the tablet mainly for web surfing, emailing, taking notes on bamboo paper, and youtubing. I am thinking to get the Samsung keyboard and Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse T630 or this stylus. My question is which of these devices will provide a better pointing experience. or just use my finger?
I am open to other suggestions on keyboard and mouse. Please comment.
A mouse will always be better on the screen if you intend to use it productively, unless you are drawing instead then obviously you will need a stylus.
I hooked up a mouse to my tablet and it made a huge difference. It allows me to use the screen without getting smudges on it.
