I updated my developer S3 phone from 4.04 to 4.11 using the info from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114).
I did step 1, worked like a champ. JB runs great, but I had previously placed CWM recovery touch on the phone (via ODIN) so I could back up first, but after flashing 4.1.1 the phone would not boot into recovery. I would get the blue wording up in the top left corner that it was, btu the phone would reboot then right into normal mode.
I then tried step 2 from th above guide, still notta on recovery. Now the dev mode comes with an unlocked bootloader, but did flashing the JB rom basically lock it?
Im wondering if I need to unlock that bootloader again?
Thanks

I feel like an idiot for asking, but I'm having issues with the ROM part. I'm used to working on HTC phones and this tablet has been a little different for me. I have unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp thru fastboot. I'm confused on how to flash the roms. The tablet doesn't show up like my phone does on my computer so where do I place the zip, Second question is can I get to recovery thru fastboot like on my phone. It was as simple as fastboot recovery, but I don't see this in any guide. Any help would be appreciated. And an FYI I do not have an sdcard.
Hi,
to install the rom is like all the other devices but since the last OTA update 4.2.1 there are 3 version of rom for our devices
1 based on ICS bootloader
1 based on JB 4.1.1 bootloader
1 based on JB 4.2.1 bootloader
now all depend on which version of android you have when you unlock the device, you can found easly information about that.
to start the recovey you have just to boot on fastboot mode select RCK with the volume down button and push volume+up to confirm
when in verify if you can have access to sdcard and make backup of the system and restart the system to be sure everything works fine (already to many bricked devices around lol)
if you have the bootloader 4.2.1 (last OTA of march) probably you will have problem to access sdcard, this because only one recovery at the moment work on that bootloader TWRP 2.4.4.0-4.2 (not TWRP 2.4.4.0-JB) in any case never install ICS version if you have JB
be carefoul when you will decide to go haed most of the guide are for old versions.
hi all, I'm trying to upgrade to KK with a stock/official fw; linky via odin 3.07. I am able to flash successfully, the tablet restarts and then just sits at the Samsung "blue oval thing"
I've tried TWRP touch 2.8.0.1 to install Gnabo 6.5, following instructions of Here, using "Installation for N801x". All has gone as expected until I tried to install the bootloader section, TWRP crashes to bootloop each time.
I've tried re-downloading the bootloader as well as clean flash of KK and using CWM touch 6.0.3.6 in place of TWRP; same result.
I have a backup of 4.0.something, but i want 4.4.2. Any suggestions are welcomed, TIA.

Did you flash the Leaked n8000 firmware that Changes the Boot-Loader to the knox boot-loader. If so i think you have to flash a 4.4.2 zip with Mobile odin as it does not do a Boot loader check. There are several threads about 8010 Devices STUCK Into using the n8000 firmware only. Then you have to apply the no cell and wifi fix patches. I do not have a 8010 mine is 8013 so i do not have this issue and have not read totally up on it. It just seems this could be your Trouble.
Good Luck
Thanks Erica_Renee,
I've read about this issue in a few threads, I didn't feel it affected me as my bootloader screen
View attachment 2968202
doesn't show anything about Knox.
but, as I'm short on options; why not. So you're saying go back to 4.0.whatever, install mobile odin and flash KK N8010 rather than through odin on desktop?
problem with up rom
Hi guys,
Please help me

Thanks
OK - So I'm not a noob, but also dont have tons of and indepth experience when it comes to this stuff. I know enough about flashing custom recovery and roms / flashing back to stock / yada yada yada ....
I'm on Verizon S3 i535 4.4.2 (yes I know the bootloader's locked and there isnt anything I can do, custom that is, to this phone)
So, I rooted - loaded safestrap - even loaded the ONE custom rom (which was a debloated stock) that I could find. Decided I wanted it all back to stock - went to sammobile.com / downloaded the correct one and flashed through odin - it was ALMOST at the end and getting ready to reboot when BOOM - FAILED pops up and then it went to the Firmware Upgrade/Downgrade Problem (with the triangle). I can boot into the actualy download mode, like you normally would for odin - try to get recovery and get that Firmware screen. I have a feeling it's a Partition issue (cause for the debloated rom I installed, I had to make a "Rom slot" for it) - but i dont know how to fix that!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Repurposing this thread rather than making a new one. I installed two different ROMs that support locked bootloader on my cousin's C2104 (not unlockable) but they both hang on the boot animation. I left them for 10+ minutes but it never went to the setup screen. I flashed using CWM 6.0.5.0 and the ROMs installed successfully. Any idea why this is happening?
I've tried two different 4.2.2 custom roms that support locked bootloader, they install successfully both both get stuck at boot animation. i followed the instructions as described by each rom, not sure what to do next?

There is NO 4.4.4. ROM for locked bootloader.
If you want to have ROM for locked bootloader it can only be based on stock fw. Since all KK ROMs are based on CM or AOSP, you need to unlock the bootloader.
Hi all as title states my moto g is downloading the new 5.0 update but during install it says error and switches phone back on with no changes made. It was rooted and custom firmware was installed. Since then uts back to fully unrooted, stock recovery is reinstalled and bootloader is still unlocked. However still it errors a quarter into installing.
So i have come to the assumption that it is best for me to revert/ reinstall the stock 4.4.4 rom back on and try updating after that. However seen loads of complicated methods on how to reinstall the stock firmware onto my phone so want the easiest way if possible.
In attatchments is the info from the current stock rom that is on the phone (will state a custom rom has never been installed to the phone always been stock) and i have downloaded the following to put onto it:
XT1032_RETAIL-GB_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.40_36_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml.zip
Ive tried using the mototools v3.1 and does abserlitly nothing non of the commants work or do anything with my phone.
So which is the easiest method?
Many Thanks
major problems!!!!!
Stock recovery installed to phone. Started update it was installing and got to 3/4 of the way through, errored, restarted and not goes in a loop saying no command!
Phone will not switch on!!!
Why has this happened?
If fastboot is too convoluted - using a custom recovery, flash one of these zips:

What update were you installing when it errored?
