[Q] Samsung DA-E550 - General Questions and Answers

Hi XDA-Community,
you are my last Chance of Help. I recently got the Samsung DA-E550 Wireless Audi with a Docking Station and encountered a Problem. I wanted to use the Speaker for my Alarm in the Morning. The Problem is that the Station goes into Standby after 30min and cuts the Bluetooth Connection wich results in usage of the intern Speakers of my Phone instead of the DA-E550.
You know any way to keep the Station powered with a Bluetooth Signal or something else? It was the main Purpose why i got it and that it doesnt work kinda sucks....
Cheers

I ordered one and it is arriving tomorrow - I am also hoping to use it as an alarm clock (My galaxy note 2's alarm isn't quite loud enough - I am a deep sleeper)
I am hoping with tasker I can auto turn off then back on bluetooth 5 min. before wake up time and that will wake up the dock.
If that works I will let you know. (when your dock is on standyby if you turn your phones bluetooth off and back on does that wake up the dock? - if so you can use taker (see link below) to auto turn your bluetooth off and back on a couple min. before your alarm goes off - this is assuming that the dock will auto connect with the speaker upon bluetooth being turned on on your phone.)
As long as when the dock goes into standby it will wake up when a device tries to connect to it via bluetooth this should work.
Tasker - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm

Nope when it goes to sleep - it is dead to the world untill you hit the power button.
Best option is to go to sleep with a silent mp3 on loop I guess

Yea i tested a bit for myself but couldnt wake up the device but your alternative is a neat trick. Didnt thought of that.

[Q] New app to switch on/off automatically your phone

I would like to know if there is an app to switch on/off your windows phone automatically. I miss it when i changed from Blackberry to WP. For example i often forget to switch off my phone at night so this app would be very useful for me.

I guess it is not a problem to write the aplication witch is able to turn of your phone. But how the hell could aplication turn ON the phone back, if it is tourtned off. For example try to turn on your PC with some kind of application. I guess you get the point.
Of course i get it, even if i'm not a developer. It would be great to have just an auto-switching off app. However, don't know how, blackberry has got it.
I would be really pleased if someone wrote this app to switch off the phone.
thanks again
I actually don't think blackberries turn off completely until the battery is either completely dead or removed. I know when a blackberry is "off" it still has the ability to turn back on when an alarm is going off so I would assume that it just goes into a low power standby state. However, when you turn off Windows Phone, it's off.
This should be posted @ [email protected] section.
I didn't do that because i must write 10 post before writing in that section
Actually, my PC will turn on at a given time, but I don't believe these phones can do the same. Also, if it does turn off at a certain time, you would not be able to have it plugged into a charger. When WP is plugged in, it automatically turns on. I believe that's a hardware design.
Reboot App Perhaps???
I DONT KNOW ABOUT A SHUT DOWN APP BUT HERE IS A REBOOT... PRE-MANGO
If you have pre-Mango (pre-7712+) you can use the attached .xap, its an app that was developed by someone here at the forums... I changed the icon for the start screen but that is all...
For shutdown, just hold the pwr button at this time... sorry... jejeje
I think what he's looking for (as I am) is a version of Phone Alarm or Pocket Phone Zen. They automatically turn things like WIFI, BT, Phone, etc. on or off at preset times. PA can also do that when plugged into a charger so BT will turn on when the phone's in the car holder for hands free. I haven't been able find anything in the Marketplace.
For restart phone on Mango try that app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1333740
I use for shut off/on power button.
In Blackberry when you press the power button off it does not get really turned off. Its in sleep mode which actually just closes the user state but the kernel keeps ticking and thats the reason any app in background hooked to kernel can turn it on which is actually waking it up from sleep.
Moreover in sleep mode everything used to get shut off i.e call it airplane mode. So if somebody can make a WP app which can just turn on and turn off the airplane mode, it should work for you.
Have a look at Phone Alarm for WM 6.x It is able to do so much more. Things I would like to see in an app for WP7 are:
scheduled on/off of WIFI, BT, phone, GPS, data connection.
scheduled sync of email at longer intervals like every 6 hours (WP7 max is 2 -not everyone has a data flatrate.)
Scheduled and location based volume adjustment. (quiet at home, loud in the car, etc.)
BT, GPS auto-on if charging ("Car" profile if charging, see next point)
Profiles that can be changed with one click. (for example "Meeting" profile turns off sound, reduces display brightness, turns off WIFI, turns on BT etc.)
doesn't have to be cost free but does need to be bug free
Cheers

[Q] Tasker - Force Fitbit Update on Bluetooth Connect

I have a tasker profile set up to turn on my Bluetooth for 5 minutes every 90 minutes from 6:30am - 10pm each day. The only bluetooth thing i own is my fitbit, which syncs directly to my GS4. However, I noticed that even though my profile turns bluetooth on and off every 90 minutes, it doesn't automatically sync to Fitbit. Is there a way, through tasker, that I can force the update when bluetooth turns on?
Thanks for any help you can give!

No such luck. I just ended up keeping Bluetooth on all the time and resorted to Juice Defender (which does a pretty good job) to help with battery life.
Too bad... I'll probably resort to create a tasker setting that turns Bluetooth on when I open the fitbit app and turns it off when I exit. Or even just have it automatically open every x minutes and then close it.

I did that too, but it too too long to boot up and then I ended up manually refreshing anyway. I just don't sit there and open my Fitbit app and sit there with it for a few minutes waiting for it to sync.
Did you try to have it do it only when the screen is off and without having it turn the screen on?

I think I set it up to turn bluetooth on every 2 hours for 5 minutes and when that happened, open up the fitbit app and leave that on for 5 minutes, only when the screen was off. However, inevitably, I always ended up turning the phone on when it was in the middle of the 5 minute window and I just got annoyed and scrapped it.
I just set it up to turn bt on for 15 minutes every 45 and nothing else. It seems to work, I have the fitbit widget on the home screen and it is updating even though I haven't accessed the app since this morning.
Nice. Glad you got that working. I'll probably stick with what I've got because I also use Dash along with a bluetooth OBD sensor in my car to monitor my driving and engine health, etc. If I had BT turn on and off, Dash wouldn't work.
Side note, have you ever used Llama?
Ok!
I had used llama once, I think back on gingerbread and wasn't too much into it. Frankly, I don't even remember exactly what it was for! Changing settings based on location maybe? I use tasker for that already, though.
Ok, I'm totally hijacking this thread now, I've used Llama since my old gingerbread phone and it does a great job at 99% of what I want. It's primarily location-based profiles or tasks, but it can also do other things like manage profiles and tasks based on whether a headset is plugged in or other device states.
The thing I can't figure out in Llama (and am trying to figure out in Tasker) is I want my phone to go to silent, with no vibration or sounds overnight, but I want my weather radio app and a few select contacts to be able to ring through. Any idea how to accomplish those exceptions within Tasker?

I use daydream. It will jot turn the screen off when wireless charging. Just be careful, I've noticed excessive overheating in this case personally.

I never want it to sleep, for example, while im using google play music while its in my car dock
I use a tasker profile to keep screen on (among several other things) when my Bluetooth connects to my car. Could try that if you fit the requirements.
Unfortunately it wont. I use a 3.5MM to Tape adapter (my car is old)
You can customize tasker to suit your needs... so you could tell it to leave the screen on if play music app is running (though music should continue to play even with screen off)
Ok thanks, I was honestly just hoping it was a setting or a zip i could flash.

Screen turns on when Bluetooth connection starts, edited with possible solution

So I had this same problem when I first got my Z1 Compact, but it went away after a while (I'm not entirely sure how). This creates a problem if I have my phone in my pocket, as it will skip tracks, fast forward and rewind, and waste battery. Is there a way to prevent the screen from waking when the device connects to a Bluetooth device?
EDIT: Found a solution! At least for me, hope it helps others as well. My bluetooth microphone no longer works, so I went into the Bluetooth settings for the stereo and unchecked the box to use the BT for phone audio, and only left media audio checked. This seems to have fixed this issue as well, as my screen no longer turns on automatically when it's connected! I re-checked the box and it turned on like before, so it seems like that's what's causing it to wake.

Have a look at the Smart Connect app, maybe it has an event there that triggers when the bluetooth connects.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, there were no such events under any of the Smart Connect options, and I can't even find an option to turn the screen on/off when a device is connected or disconnected.
I've tried setting the screen timeout to 15 seconds (the lowest possible), and I noticed that once the screen turns on after connecting, it never times out or turns off on its own. It was sitting on my car's dash, and I listened to a few songs without it shutting off. I even checked the timeout settings afterwards, and it was still set to 15 seconds.
Any idea what else could be causing this? Maybe Throw? I know I was able to uninstall that on my Z1C using Titanium Backup, but obviously I can't on this one since it's the T-Mobile Z3.
EDIT: So this apparently only happens when connecting to my car stereo. I just tested it with my Bluetooth headphones and the screen stayed asleep the entire time I was connecting and playing music.
I still have no idea what could be causing this, but I'm starting to think it has something to do with my stereo and not my phone. Is there any app or way I can test it? So far, here's what I've tried. Again, on T-Mobile Z3 so no chance of rooting at the moment. Screen still turns on whenever my phone auto-connects to my car stereo's Bluetooth.
1. Disabled Throw using adb shell.
2. Disabled MirrorLink using adb shell.
3. Disabled Smart Connect using adb shell.
4. Auto-connected to Bluetooth headphones and screen stays off as it should.
5. Tried with multiple apps (Shuttle+, Walkman, PowerAmp, even with all music apps uninstalled/disabled).
6. Old phone's screen (Z1 Compact) still stays off when connecting to the car stereo. It's rooted with an unlocked bootloader, maybe something in the Z3's DRM keys is telling it to wake up?
So that's where I'm at right now, not sure where I can go from here. I suppose I'll have to learn to live with it for the time being.

Do you have :Smart backlight control in "Display Settings" on? In my case that was the problem! So when the screen wakes up and i'm on the move, this setting prevents the device from auto lock.
Same issue around here mate. I got a pioneer car stereo and I set the smart connect to play music as son it connects. Every time it connects the screen turns on and I got the connection message on status bar.
Smart backlight control was off, but I tried turning it on just in case. Screen still turns on. I don't even have Smart Connect enabled right now, and I don't get any connection message when it connects. I'm thinking it has something to do with Pioneer specifically, since mine's a Pioneer as well. It also doesn't turn on when it connects to my bluetooth headphones/headset, which should be the same type of connection.
I'll try messing with some settings on my stereo, see if that does anything.
I'll try on my friends Sony stereo later and see if the issue happens.
When I connect the lg g watch the screen remains off.

I have the same isue with my zenec car radio This sucks because I can't keep my phone in my pocket while I'm driving.
It would be interesting to know if this is a general android isue or if it's only a isue from sony smartphones with stock rom. Just to narrow down possible causes...
I also have this issue with my Kenwood deck. I also noticed my volume resets to half too, which is even more annoying than the screen turning on. I have no smart connect events or anything turned on. Odd thing about the volume, it doesn't do it all the time. It just seems to randomly.

I don't think so, because the phone is most of the time in the pocket so it wouldn't make sense to lighten up the screen to inform the user about a "BT event".
But hmm, maybe I'm able to solve it with tasker
BT connect on event -> turn screen off

Lighting up, by itself, would be harmless, even if your phone is usually in your pocket.
I was going to suggest tasker, but I never got anywhere with it (at least, the things I wanted to do, which don't appear to be too extravagent, apparently require either a rooted phone or additional non-free plug-ins).

As other member have already described, the screen keps turned on for a long period of time when a BT device connects. So it's battery waste and it's likely that I execute unwanted actions like calling someone
But thank you anyway... I'll try it with tasker and will share my solution here if I find one..
I have a Pioneer car stereo, but I haven't noticed my screen turning on. I'll test this when I get off work.
I did notice though that sometimes the BT volume goes to 50% as mentioned earlier.
My screen does not turn on when it connects to My pioneer car stereo.

Bumping the topic.. exact same problem. Screen lights up every time I connect via BT to my car Kenwood stereo. Very very irritating. Battery drains out without even my knowing it. Seems like a serious bug.

Question Navifly/Mekede M500S issues

Hi
I just got a M500S with 360 option and I'm trying to test everything is working outside the car before installing it but ran into some issues.
I'm testing by just powering it via gnd + acc + live, apart from this and the cameras, nothing else is connected yet because I'd like to get the 360 system working before moving to GPS tests, etc.
Connecting front/left/right/rear cameras doesn't show any input in the 360 app, its still all just showing black - same as without having them connected.
Pressing power button doesn't set head unit to sleep but mute/unmutes - not sure if this is because of a setting.
The date/time isn't stored if the head unit is fully powered off - it resets to last year everytime and doesn't sync automatically over network either. I think I saw something similar mentioned in another thread.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes, it does sync, but that is something else than storing it on the unit.
If my unit starts from cold boot after 3+ days not being used, it will sync it's date/time as soon as it has internet. Either directly or via the hotspot from my phone.
And normally that is the hotspot from my phone as I don't want to wait 60 seconds or so for it to sync, but start driving immediately.
3second push on power does send it to sleep, but not to deep-sleep. Your power consumption will remain high.

It does but only after it has connected to the Internet which can take time after the boot sequence has finished.

I didn't mind it not storing - did expect it since it doesn't have internal battery power - although did think it would at least retain the last date/time before power off though.
It is odd that it doesn't sync for me - its not in car yet, I have it connected to home wifi - even after a few minutes after boot (~10 mins) it does not sync. Though not a major issue - just hope to get the camera working.
Yes, thanks, was just looking for the sleep option - mainly turning display off without using toggles in notification drawer, not deep sleep.

Well its not working as intended then, try playing around with some settings in Date and time and rebooting to test, also have you got the GPS antenna connected just in case it uses the GPS sat times to confirm the time.

Thanks! This was it - I can see that as soon as GPS lock is established, within 2-3 seconds the time is synced.
Thanks also @mariodantas , @surfer63
With regard to the camera, I've still not had any luck.
Thought that maybe one of the other inputs powers the 360 camera module separately, so tried plugging into the car, but the 360 app still does not show anything with all 4 cameras attached. Anyone here have experience with installing the 360 version?
I've tried toggling two of the 360 camera options in Factory hoping it might show some signs of life, but nothing yet.
Thought I had the solution by connecting 12V to the reverse line, but not right solution.
Odd, I thought 360 was designed to be on all the time as it's for being able to see the blind spots even when moving forward. Will you need to feed reverse with 12v all the time or just when the car is in reverse.

Thought the same - recording when driving might be something I go for, so 12v via ACC is what I'm thinking, though ideally I'd like it to be powered just when reversing or when the 360 app is open.
The feed stops around 1-2 seconds after disconnecting the 12v.
Don't know if I'm missing an option, but if anyone has any ideas on how I might be able to get it to power up on when the 360 app is open, I'm all ears.
I don't have 360 so my headunit does not have the 360 hardware but the option are in the factory settings so will have a look.
2 settings in factory, what they mean could be anything as bad translation is normal.
Single 360
and
360 switch
Both with on/off options.
I did try toggling the two options before, but it didn't make a difference. Looking through one of the comments on 4pda, the second is to switch between stock 360 system and this. Though, tried again and can't see switching them making any difference.
Just tried again and saw that powering via reverse line means I can't back out of the 360 app and it stays on top, and also switches to reverse view (understandable), but there must be another way - I can see any looking at the pin config. Can't call it usable as is.

I’m having the same issue; I’ve noticed my 7862 when using maps on a long drive the background goes a bit pink/purple ish…
When I first connected the 360 cameras I only connected the left and right side - these were only connected by the CVBS connectors and worked perfectly out of the box - somewhere in between randomly they decided to stop working and all my 360 cameras don’t work.
I have played around with factory settings and can’t seem to get anything to work. Including the two options “360 switch” and “single 360”. I have figured out a front camera can work with the RCA cable that says CVBS in on the connector block closest to the fuse, but I am at wits end trying to figure out why all my 360 cameras show as a blank screen… possibly something wrong with the connectors behind the head unit or the specified chip these units are shipped with? I have contacted the manufacturer - in my case - navifly - but I was wondering if you’ve had any success @Moon2
