[Q] Advantages of Eurpoean / US ROM? - HTC One S

Aside from potentially faster JB upgradeability due to the european OTA already being available, is there any advantage to loading the european / wwe RUU onto a Tmous One S (assuming the CID is set appropriately for flashing it)? What is the difference between the US and european stock ROMs? Is there a reason one would want to flash the european rom onto a us device? I am talking about things like features not enabled in the US version due to lawsuits from a fruit company, etc. Thanks!

New to Desire S, how are RUUs titled

Hi all
Hello to fellow desire S users and XDA teams... Im just new to the desire S, but have a galaxy s, so Im not new to flashing a Rom, but I know the proces is very different on each phone.
While I can understand the process of flashing the Desire S rom (read up on it basically ), Im not sure how the versions of the RUUs are titled, so what is the latest UK stock ROM for the S.
My phone is supposed to be Virgin UK, but from what I can tell in the settings its actually unlocked: Carrier :- No information".
Many thanks and Respect to the devs
Night

I'd prefer you make a "Gold card" prior to flashing an RUU unless you're up to the task of recovering from a soft-brick. Beyond that, it really doesn't matter whichever RUU you flash
NB: I've flashed most RUUs aside the Chinese ones - without a Gold Card. Don't know if I've been having a lucky run but my phone was bought off the open market (unbound to any particular carrier). If that helps.
Edit: And here's a direct link to the ROMs (as hosted by XDA member Football)

Thanks for the reply.. I wasnt sure whether that question was a bit of a "Thats been answered so many times on here" kinda one, so I figured no one would reply.
I did a OTA update last night and my Software Info says:
Android: 235 / Sense ver: 3.0 / Software No: 2.13.351.6 / Kernel: 2.8.35.10...Fri Oct 7 2011 / Baseband: 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M,
it looks like theres a newer 235 out now.
I also tried both Orange UK and O2 UK SIM cards and both recieved a signal, so it looks like it is Virgin software installed but the phone itself is unlocked.
So Ill look at a more uptodate EU / UK firmare.
Many thanks and, I am new to the Desire S, so any other advice would be great
EDIT:
Do I have the latest one... File factory says their EU one (1month, 2 weeks) is 2.10.401.9.. is that correct?.
Which RUU
I have a Vodafone branded HTC desire s. I need a RUU to downgrade HBOOT, but I only see one option for RUU, which is RUU_Saga_Vodafone_UK_1.32.161.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03. I know this RUU is for Vodafone, but I'm scared of using it incase it changes my radio, i understand it shouldn't make it unusable, as its still on Vodafone, but I don't want to break my phone. My current radio version is 3822.10.08.04_M.
Any Vodafone users used this RUU? Success stories please :-D And any helpful comments
If you look at the Software No.the third group of numbers stands for the version:
Example 1.28.401.1, 1.47.401.4, 2.10.401.4, 2.10.401.5, 2.10.401.8
401 - clean European unbranded version
405 – World Wide English generic version
720 - version for India
707 - Asian version
111 - T-Mobile version
206 - O2 UK version
etc....
Going by you latest OTA your software No is 2.13.351.6 which would suggest that 351 stands for the Virgin UK version.
When using RUU’s (ROM Upgrade Utilities) they will only upgrade the Image version from one with an older Software Number to one with a newer Software Number. They will not downgrade (which I guess is why they are called what they are!) .
To downgraded your Hboot you need to look at the developers section where you will find plenty of guidance.

Looks like mine is outdated then. Many Thanks for the info bjlabuk. Ill make up a Gold Card. I also noticed My radio version is the same as EU 401, so thats great.
Is there any other download links apart from File Factory.. 28k/s (5 h) what a nightmare.
Also, Ive noticed my memory is quite full - only 125MB left.. Is that normal? I thought it had 768MB.
On the galaxy S, you can boot into a recovery mode to erase the Cache and OS partition and to remove old OS files, does the Desire S have something like that, Is that why my RAM is filled up, old files?.
Night
Radio
Thank you. I also wish to know if using the RUU listed In my previous post will mess with my radio, or will it not matter as it is still Vodafone?

probably because WP is only just now available in most of Asia so there simply haven't been any ROM's for that part of the world. Right now most ROM;s come from Europe because that part of the world has the most support for WP.

[Q] Is there any HTC official constructor stock ROM

Hello, I just want to know if a stock ROM from HTC exist? I don't speak about operators ROM like vodafone, rogers, cingular,...
If yes, how to install it and where to do download it?
In other case, is this possible to flash a RUU....Vodafone_FR... on a RUU ....Vodafone_DE? Because I live in France and I buy a German phone
(Obviously I know how to change langage, but it's just to have updates from my country ^^)
Thanks

The carrier versions of the ROM's are simply just the stock with the added carrier apps. Install a stock rooted rom and remove all carrier apps, and use google chrome as the default web browser.

You would have to root and change your CID.
At that point, it would be much easier to just pick the stock rooted ROM from Development (if its available) and flash it the same way you would any custom ROM.
AFAIK, there is no "unbranded" HTC firmware, the way there has been in the past for for HTC devices. One of the European or Asian ROMs are probably as close as you will come. As mentioned, those are pretty close to stock, just with some bloatware apps (which can be uninstalled). If you want something close to unbranded, stay away from AT&T stock ROMs, as they contain the most bloat, as well as other customizations throughout the OS (carrier icons, splash screens, locked down tethering, and more).

Can you give me any link to a [HOW TO] topic to change my CID??

Help me understand CSC?

Long time flasher, but haven't really come across "CSC" until recently and trying to figure out if I care.
Just picked up a SM-G930W8 to use in USA on AT&T. Rooted and flashed a custom ROM (Resurrection Remix/AOSP) replacing stock. Will be updating my modem which I'm used to doing, but am not sure if I should be looking at my CSC too...? Been doing some searching and reading and still not clear on WHAT the CSC affects, and when one might want or need to update it, and whether any of that even applies if you're not running a stock ROM or me in my situation.
Can someone provide some enlightenment? Thanks.
Determines which region the phone thinks you are in, which provides restrictions over features and OTA updates roll out dates

OK, thanks for that info. So that leads me to 2 questions:
1) Does "USA" count as a different "region" than Canada?
2) Since I'm using a custom ROM and not doing OTA stock updates, do I care?
One might assume that "restrictions over features" also becomes moot if you're using a custom ROM like RR vs. stock, as it's the stock ROMs with their carrier influence which might have restrictive features (hotpots, for example).

1.) Yes USA would be seen as a different region to Canada as they are different countries, but you also get multiple different CSC's per region too
For example UK unbranded CSCs are XEU and BTU, then you have the carrier CSCs which are carrier branded, but also for the UK for example
VOD - Vodafone
H3G - Three
O2U - O2
2.) No probably not, and generally custom ROMs have all CSC features enabled anyway such as VoLTE etc
Thanks so much. I'm going to learn to stop caring about CSC then. :good:

a6000/a6003

Guys may I know which version u have? This is the first time I'm going to try op phone so I don't want to make any unnecessary mistake.
Is there any difference between the two in terms of custom rom and rooting availability(such as samsung's exynos is easier to get custom rom and root than other version) ? Or any custom rom will fit to either version?
BTW I'm living in Indonesia, do both will work just fine on my country or do I need a specific version in order to use it here?
Thanks people.
need the answer too, some people said using A6000 outside india or china the 4g network may not working.

I have a6003 here in the u.s..
I have A6003 here in the UK
6003 here in Australia - this is the official International version.. There is a 6000 version going around, which seems to be India based - but is being sold as a "flashed OS" version and sold internationally. I would highly suggest getting the 6003 - it seems the most compatible
6003 is for europe/us.
6000 is for chinese/india.
The difference is just the supported bands (6003 supports much more) and the rom, the rom can be replaced easily.
6003 for US/EU/GLOBAL
6000 is for China/India (no play services, few bands missing etc)
this information was received from oneplus directly.
