Hi all
Hello to fellow desire S users and XDA teams... Im just new to the desire S, but have a galaxy s, so Im not new to flashing a Rom, but I know the proces is very different on each phone.
While I can understand the process of flashing the Desire S rom (read up on it basically ), Im not sure how the versions of the RUUs are titled, so what is the latest UK stock ROM for the S.
My phone is supposed to be Virgin UK, but from what I can tell in the settings its actually unlocked: Carrier :- No information".
Many thanks and Respect to the devs
Night

I'd prefer you make a "Gold card" prior to flashing an RUU unless you're up to the task of recovering from a soft-brick. Beyond that, it really doesn't matter whichever RUU you flash
NB: I've flashed most RUUs aside the Chinese ones - without a Gold Card. Don't know if I've been having a lucky run but my phone was bought off the open market (unbound to any particular carrier). If that helps.
Edit: And here's a direct link to the ROMs (as hosted by XDA member Football)

Thanks for the reply.. I wasnt sure whether that question was a bit of a "Thats been answered so many times on here" kinda one, so I figured no one would reply.
I did a OTA update last night and my Software Info says:
Android: 235 / Sense ver: 3.0 / Software No: 2.13.351.6 / Kernel: 2.8.35.10...Fri Oct 7 2011 / Baseband: 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M,
it looks like theres a newer 235 out now.
I also tried both Orange UK and O2 UK SIM cards and both recieved a signal, so it looks like it is Virgin software installed but the phone itself is unlocked.
So Ill look at a more uptodate EU / UK firmare.
Many thanks and, I am new to the Desire S, so any other advice would be great
EDIT:
Do I have the latest one... File factory says their EU one (1month, 2 weeks) is 2.10.401.9.. is that correct?.
Which RUU
I have a Vodafone branded HTC desire s. I need a RUU to downgrade HBOOT, but I only see one option for RUU, which is RUU_Saga_Vodafone_UK_1.32.161.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03. I know this RUU is for Vodafone, but I'm scared of using it incase it changes my radio, i understand it shouldn't make it unusable, as its still on Vodafone, but I don't want to break my phone. My current radio version is 3822.10.08.04_M.
Any Vodafone users used this RUU? Success stories please :-D And any helpful comments
If you look at the Software No.the third group of numbers stands for the version:
Example 1.28.401.1, 1.47.401.4, 2.10.401.4, 2.10.401.5, 2.10.401.8
401 - clean European unbranded version
405 – World Wide English generic version
720 - version for India
707 - Asian version
111 - T-Mobile version
206 - O2 UK version
etc....
Going by you latest OTA your software No is 2.13.351.6 which would suggest that 351 stands for the Virgin UK version.
When using RUU’s (ROM Upgrade Utilities) they will only upgrade the Image version from one with an older Software Number to one with a newer Software Number. They will not downgrade (which I guess is why they are called what they are!) .
To downgraded your Hboot you need to look at the developers section where you will find plenty of guidance.

Looks like mine is outdated then. Many Thanks for the info bjlabuk. Ill make up a Gold Card. I also noticed My radio version is the same as EU 401, so thats great.
Is there any other download links apart from File Factory.. 28k/s (5 h) what a nightmare.
Also, Ive noticed my memory is quite full - only 125MB left.. Is that normal? I thought it had 768MB.
On the galaxy S, you can boot into a recovery mode to erase the Cache and OS partition and to remove old OS files, does the Desire S have something like that, Is that why my RAM is filled up, old files?.
Night
Radio
Thank you. I also wish to know if using the RUU listed In my previous post will mess with my radio, or will it not matter as it is still Vodafone?

If you cannot find it on the forum or the wiki, that means that no-one with an original Indian ROM on his phone did a dump yet (or at least, (s)he did not share it). Don't you know anyone with an Indian TP that has the Stock ROM installed still? You can then dump the ROM from his/her phone and put it on yours. (you'll find a how-to on the forum)
Hey I have a stock ROM for the Indian TP. How do I do a dump of it?
asksaravana - What ROM are u using? Are you able to activate 3G on ur phone even though HTC left it out of Indian version.
Thanks!

Flashed EnergyROm
Can someone please help me out here?
I flashed Energy ROM (the latest Sep 6 release).
After I did so, EDGE stopped working. I am in India, the Touch Pro here has the 7201 processor and not the 7206 processor as is there in the rest of the world. 7201 doesn't support 3G. Max it can handle is EDGE.
In Energyrom, I saw the 3G option (on/off) in Communication Settings. Data connection (on/off) was also there. I could not turn data connection on at all.
I then went back to the HTC India official update that came in around Mar 09 on the HTC India site. This link is given below.
http://www.htc.com/in/supportdownloa...act=sd&cat=all
Before flashing Energy Rom I had this version anyway. In this version, the
3G option in comm. settings was never seen.
Now even though I have got back to HTC's rom, EDGE doesn't work. I can't turn data connection now in this ROM. The funny thing is that the processor name has become 7206. I had read about this on another thread that flashing ROMs that are built for 7201 makes the processor name show up wrongly.
Any idea whats wrong? Have I damaged the phone?

Moved to the Raphael subforum
Sorry, i'm not an authority on indian telecoms (or even HTC tech to be honest!) but i would suspect you have flashed your radio (either as part of a ROM flash or seperatly) and thats why you cant get your radio (i am assuming you have checked your software settings - and checked that any problems arent local / network related).
Assuming its a radio issue (and i'm not 100% saying it is) then check out the radio thread in the rom forum & try a different one (radios dont require a hard reset so are quick to change - ensure you have the correct rilphone.dll - and it would appear you have hard spl as you have already changed rom) so good luck!
[you are very unlikely to have damaged the hardware of your phone by flashing a different raphael rom from here]

I somehow got it working again. Could not exactly trace how it got working though. I flashed the rom again with the HTC Mar 09 release for India. Got it working.
Btw, before this I updated the rilphone as per the radio as suggested. That did not get it working.
Thanks anyway!
Kunal
Turned my phone on this morning and saw this notification. What is it for? I bought my phone yesterday and rooted. Thanks!
Btw phone is unbranded. I think it is asian release though, seeing as I purchased it in Taiwan.
do you mean 1.35.709.1 ? don't think there's 1.39 just yet, it's just an over the air software update, fixes a couple of issues and speeds up things a little.
EDIT : I have the asian version, asian versions are 707 not 709 (that's what the number in the update version means), I think your version is based on some country in asia, but not the asian 707 release.
ah, it must be the version number for Taiwan!
1.35.666.1 is my current version

Hi i have a HD7 which somehow itgot relocked out of the blue and i can't unlock it because my bootloader version is 5.11.2250!
I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411904
I know I'm quite annoying with questions but i don't know how to find a stock rom from europe! All i want is to flash a DFT custom rom on it after i'm done with this process. Ty much will be appreciated
I found a link here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD7/Shipped_Roms
OS:7.10.8107.79
Radio:5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
BootLoader=5.11.2250.0
Bought from Hong Kong
Can i flash a europe rom onto my asia bought HTC HD7? will it work the same but with different region rom?
Can i pick any of the Europe ones with boot loader below 4.xx? eg
Operator/ ROM / Model / OS / Firmware / Radio Software / Bootloader (SPL)
Europe/ 1.16.401.01 / HTC HD7 T9292 / 7.0.7004.0 / 2250.09.11601.401 / 5.51.09.06a_22.30.50.09U / 1.16.2250.0(110866)
Also i live in New Zealand and my Phone operator is Vodafone , if i flash a europe rom am i still allowed to use vodafone's services?
If my flashing is successful how do i install DFT custom roms on it and make it mango 7.0.8107 with interop unlock as well?
see the tutorial i wrote. first link in my signature.

you bought your device from/in HK, which would most likely make it have Asia branding. in which case, ansar's SLSPL will not work because it is for Europe only.
okay ! sucks balls because i can't seem to get my hands on those cables >.>

this guide, here, provides links to create a Y-Cable.
It doesn't tell you how to create one but buy one. I can't even buy it because its only for US and Canada

Dear all,
I live in Israel and about two months ago I bought the Sensation.
After waiting for so long and not receiving the update I have taken interest in the way the FOTA works. I've seen that some folks here wrote that the ICS update depends on the CID. This led me to investigate further into my phone (which I haven't done previously).
Turns out the Sensation I bought from a private shop here in Israel has the Indian unbranded CID (HTC_038).
Software number is 1.52.720.3
Since I dont really need an Indian ICS update, what I wanted to ask is:
Suppose I change my CID to the European unbranded, will I then be able to get a European ICS update? Will my phone work well after such procedure?

Well, I tried changing the cid using adb commands and it didn't work, guess getting the update depends not only on the CID but also on the software number
I'm still awaiting the ICS update on my UK sim free XE, most others already have the update. It's possible that the device serial number could be a factor in getting the update too.
Hello I am noob ,I started studying Android and english(my english is bad, you see?)

First thing you must know is what these numbers means. 2.18.617 might sounds like it's newer than 2.17.401 but it's not.
a.bb.ccc.dd
a: Major android version update since phone release
b: related to HTC changes (software)
c: region
d: minor update / security patch
.401 means it's the software for phones sold in the european region. .617 is for phones sold in the USA . So 617 isn't newer than 401
Hello,
I have 2.18.617.56
I see that there is
2.17.401.2
Does it worth the shot to update it? Are there any differences/improvements?
Thank you
Nothing new... Just different regional versions
