can i get back to my stock rom by any reset or recovery.can any one help in this .
As far as I'm aware only if you changed your cid to HTC__001 or 11111111 then you will get the update! Chase its only rolling out to Europe at the moment. As with your stock ROM as long as it ain't rooted I think the ota update should work fine!
is it rooted android can update official ics??
If you are on a custom ROM, no. If it is only stock ROM with root, maybe. Typically, you need a stock recovery to accept OTA updates. If you used the HTCdev unlock method, you might still have stock recovery. If you used Revolutionary, most likely you have a custom recovery.
There's no way to recieve the update via ota while rooted unless your stock rooted but I'm pretty sure a dev will make a custom rom thats fully stock with the lates ICS build for the Sensation
if you are using stock rom

Im using rooted stock rom.....and i receive automatic update yesterday for ics... After updating the root was not remove but the boot loader is now s on.....
you should flash stock RUU first to get everything completely stock, especially the recovery.
no need to s-on. s-off is fine. and do not flash any custom recovery this time!
leave it stock and unrooted.
then you can apply ICS OTA after applying first OTA until ICS OTA.
after that you can flash custom recovery and root your device.

Haha yes, i have faith in the devs from our forum. OTA updates will come attached with sense and other bloatware, not exactly something I want to deal with.
if i flash back to stock rom can get the official update??
still on old custom rom not the ICS version

With the highest possibility - Yes!
So i think i have the same question.
I have my official stock rom rooted on my htc sensation, no custom rom installed.
But when i try to update to ICS (i get the option to update over the air) it gives me the "error" screen showing an android man, besides a warning mark.
So is this superuser blocking the update or something else?
And how can i update to ICS.
(i don't care if i lose my root, the phone can be rooted after the update)..

Just restore stock recovery and intact stock Rom file (not delete any apps in original stock rom) and you can update via OTA. But the bootloader could be lock again.

If you're rooted it is NOT advised to apply the OTA as it's more than likely going to screw your phone up. You're better off just going to a custom ROM instead
Hi,
I reverted my phone from King Kang back to stock then upgraded to 3.17 (Telstra) and hated it. So I tried restoring my King Kang backup and now Wifi won't work, nor does Camera, and it stutters and lags and is pretty much unusable.
I'm assuming this has something to do with the firmware that's part of 3.17.
I've tried running the RUU to go back to 1.89 but it fails with either USB connection error or Battery < 30% (even when fully charged).
Does anyone know how I can get back to a working King Kang?
Also, is there some instructions for rooting Stock 3.17?
You can't run king kang on 3.17 firmware
Sent from my VENOMized HoxL
Also, you can't run an RUU for a firmware or hboot version older than what is currently on the phone.
Root method (as for any One X version except AT&T) is to unlock the bootloader via HTCdev.com, install TWRP (custom recovery), then flash SU (or a stock rooted or custom ROM)
Thanks redpoint, I've got TWRP installed - can you give me a link to a SU that I can use to flash?

My TF300Tis running Hydro for ics on firmware 9.4.4.30. My question is can i flash a JB Rom ? I'm hoping to flash the rom then the boootloader for jellybean then recovery and root. Is this the case or am i missing something.
Cheers
you must flash Stock JB 1st. This will flash the JB bootloader, too. But after that there is no way back to ICS.
Then you can flash a Custom Recovery back and then as usual the JB Rom you like

I am one of the poor losers on a Ville C2 Optus (OPTUS001) which until recently came stock as 4.0.3. As a result, I upgraded to Trick Droid 3 without taking a backup. Now Optus has released 4.1 - what is the technical reason I have to go back to stock before I can upgrade and secondly anyone out there happen to have a copy of OPTUS001 4.0.3?
Good question. I know you have to be on a stock recovery for the OTA to flash properly, but not on the custom rom. My guess is the way it checks for updates.

An OTA update is not a full ROM. It's a delta, a diff, a patch.
It contains the difference between version X and version Y and a recipe for how to get from X to Y.
That's why you must be on X for it to be applied. And you must have a recovery that can perform the patching, typically a stock recovery.
