Nokia wireless charging stand - Nexus 4 Accessories

So I bought this today at the Microsoft store. I have my phone on the charger right now. It seems to work pretty well so far but I'll see how it is after a few days. Got it from the Microsoft store for 25 bucks but I had two 25 dollar gift cards to knock down the price. It's 70 bucks but if you have the cash I would say it's a nice investment. I got the black model and I must say it looks real nice with the Nexus 4 sitting on it. There is also a white one available as well but amazon seems to only have it in black.
Here's the link if you want to check it out.

How secure is it on the stand? Does it charge just as fast as the wall charger?

it's very secure. It's a very sturdy stand so it's not going to topple over with your phone on it unless you don't have it sitting on something stable. Can't really say if it's faster or slower right now but it seems to be charging decently.

Thanks. Can you also check to see if it continues to charge after it reaches 100% or if it cuts off and waits for the phone to run to 95% or some lower percentage?

I've been reading how Nokia Qi chargers don't work with the nexus 4. Seems like this is an exception?

It works but doesn't work at the same time. I've noticed that you can't have the nexus 4 sit directly against the plate. You have to angle the bottom of the phone forward a little bit or else it drops in and out of charging. I picked this up for a third of what it costs so not a big deal but After having it for almost 2 days now I would say it's probably not worth the full price but if you can get it for a steal than I would check it out.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking of using it as a car dock but if it's so unstable, then probably it's not feasible.

Just bought this from the AT&T store (I have a FAN discount, so I got it for 25% off). Charging works great (video walkthrough incoming) but I can't seem to get the NFC to do anything. Have you tried anything with that?

download anytag nfc launcher app and you can have the nfc tag on the stand launch any app you desire.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQj5dKvi0hs watch the end of this video to see what I mean. This guy does it with the droid dna.

I have one too and i have found it to work great, just set it and its fine, at first it may shut off every few seconds or so butt just leave it be, turns back on instantly and after a few minutes or so, it starts working flawlessly, i have noticed a slight charge slowdown but i will do a full comparison soon.

Thanks - the video is what tipped me off. On the Lumia 920, the NFC tag is near the top of the device. On my Nexus 4, it's at the bottom, just like the DROID DNA. After I watched the video I was able to get my phone to read and program the NFC tag.
I'm going to keep this thing around and try out a suggestion I read elsewhere that if you raise the phone up a couple of millimeters, it works fine.

[Q] Cordless Charging Pad

Anyone here use one of those cordless charging pads where you can simply place your phone on the pad for a charge? I am looking into purchasing one and would like to hear about anyone's experience with them.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

So far as I know, no one makes one that is specifically compatible with the HTC G2/Desire-Z...
You can still use most of them, but they will require to device to be plugged into the G2/Desire-Z and then for that to be placed onto the charging pad, which kind of defeats the purpose of "wireless charging"
Oh i didnt even know they were made for specific phones, that sucks. Well, thanks for the heads-up.

Ok well let me re-phrase that... The charging pads or mats are not made for specific phones. But the accessories you must buy to make them charge wireless are. For example, to wireless charge a Droid X on the PowerMat, you have to purchase a special battery cover/door for the Droid X. For the true "no wires" effect on any of the wireless charging mats out there, it requires buying a special battery and/or battery cover, if they make one for your device. No one has made one for the HTC Desire-Z/G2 yet that I'm aware of.
It's bleeping charging

i have one
I have one(Power Mat), use it for my HD2. Works very well. Seems to help with battery life, as it seems to charge better a little bit slower. takes about 45 minutes longer the charge my hd2, but lasts hours longer since i got it. Still waiting for a powermat battery cover for my g2, but havent seen one yet. Got mine at walmart for 80 bucks, i think it was well worth it. very easy to charge, dont have to worry about plugging it in all the time, as you just set it down, and it charges.
Does anyone know if the HD2 battery could fit inside the G2...if that's the case, you could mod it to fit. Like the Evo battery for the G2

no, its different. Besides, its isnt the battery that make the powermat work. Its an aftermarket battery cover. You still use your stock battery. The battery cover could not be modded to fit either, as it is completely different in size.
Ah that sucks...thanks...was hoping it was an all in one cover battery.

"Wireless" yet there's a wire into the wall.
How do you charge your phone when you're talking on it?
Hold the mat up to your head?
When they have the ability to use EMF to wirelessly charge your phone,
All you'll need to do is be within the vicinity of the charger.
That's wireless.
I know this kind of defeats the objective but for the time being you could use one of these

**Duracell Charger Pad**

I Recently,
Came Across, Probably.....
One Of The Coolest Phone Chargers I've Ever Seen.....
I Was Watching TV & Saw A Commercial Ad For:
The "Duracell" Charger Pad!!
Yeah....."The Battery Co."
Anyways, It's Basically A Pad That You Just Drop Your Phone Onto,
& It Charges, That's It!!
No Matter What....
Brand, Version, Model, Of Phone You Have!!
**Doesn't Matter**
Cool Huh?
There Is No Longer Any Stupid Cord, To Be Plugged Into Your Phone!!
No Need To Carry Multiple Chargers For Different Phones,
You May Have!!
Plus....
You Can (Supposedly).....
Charge Up To *Four* (4) Phones At Once!!
From What I've Seen,
It Looked Like One Of The Best,
"New Phone Inventions"
I've Personally Seen In A While!!
**If It Works** Lol!!
Can Anyone Confirm????

Things like this have been around for a while. You need to install a "reciever" (basically an antenna akin to RFID tag antennas) to get the resonance right so the power transfers wirelessly. It's not just "drop-and-go", if it were, there'd be a lot more of them around. They work but I'm not 100% sure on the effeciency and performance in terms of "speed-charging" but they do work.

Not worth it
Actually I have one of these. The concept is cool, and I thought it was the greatest thing, not having to plug in your phone. But what they don't really stress in the ads is the fact that you need an appendage attached to your phone for this to work. And this appendage is not too small, changing the shape/size of the phone when pluged into its charging port, and also it's quite expensive to get if you want a new one. And this is not really a contact-less charger pad, mine has alternating strips where two of the three contact points on the charging appendage should touch or it won't charge the phone. I used it for a couple of weeks, then stopped using it because of how much pain in the back it was to use it.

Nokia Qi Wireless Car Charger CR-200

I'm surprised we missed this one. There's a new QI wireless car charger that's been announced by Nokia.
Available in May (possibly April) and retails for 69EUR
EDIT: Confirmed, looks like it's compatible with the nexus 4 (see post #11). NFC may be a little tricky though.
http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/cr-200/
Interesting that this was missed in the mainstream news. As long as it fixes the issues that Nokia's home chargers had with the Nexus 4 it'd be something a great buy.
From MobileFun:
"we can confirm that the holder does feature adjustable holders but we do not have specific details on the minimum and maximum size range (we'll update this asap) Although anything close to the Lumia 920 will be suitable."
I'll keep the thread updated with any new relevant information.

Nice find! If this works with N4 and actually gains a charge with streaming music BT and navigation I am sold.

Same here, Im really only posting so this thread doesn't get lost in my CP.
Nokia's official blog says it'll be available starting April 2013.
"Known as the CR-200, this phone holder can be mounted on the dashboard or windscreen of your car and can be used in either a horizontal or vertical position – much like any other phone holder.
However, to save you time and hassle from fumbling for the power cable in the footwell, wireless charging is incorporated right into the design. You can leave the holder plugged into the power outlet, as you’re unlikely to be removing that as often as you would the phone. That means all you need to do the next time you sit in the driver’s seat, is slot in your phone to charge.
Additionally, the holder contains an NFC-tag that’s capable of launching predefined apps on your phone. For example, you can choose to automatically launch HERE Drive when you attach your phone – easy!
Retailing at around €69, the CR-200 comes in black and will be available from April 2013."

Anyone wish they would offer these in a light color like white/grey? My old Evo one got hotter than the surface of the sun sitting in my windshield on a long trip (I always took it down to put up a sun screen).

I'm not sure if this is troublesome, but just before the one minute mark, the charger stops charging the phone for a really brief period of time.

It could be a number of things that could have caused that. For one, he could have been fidgeting with the car charger while talking and such. We can't multi task too well lol.
But it looked to be consistently charging after panning away.
The only knock is it looks like, just like the Owlpad, the cable comes out of the bottom of the charger. I really wish they would come out the back towards the mount (or better yet be like the Galaxy Nexus mount and go into the base) to better conceal the wire.
Even though I will be getting this when it comes out.

Just got mine today and I have the same problem with my Nexus 4. Does not seem to want to hold a connection and charges for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds. I would stay away from these if you have a Nexus 4 as it seems to be a crapshoot whether it works with your N4 or not.

I have the same problem. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this charger if you own an N4.
I don't understand why people keep buying the DT900. The problems have been mentioned time and again with the frequent disconnects and the extremely slow rate of charging. Newer hardware versions (Rev 11 and 12 I reckon) of the N4 have been reported to be working fine. It's just not worth the trouble even at that price. There are other QI chargers available for around 20.
It's on sale again at att

Works great for my N7, so when I ordered two N4s my dumb ass ordered 3 from the AT&T website, and am getting the same issue with the two that I unpacked. Hopefully the AT&T store can take them as returns.
I picked one of these up for 13$. I don't recommend this charger either. If it is not sitting on the charger just so it will just cycle charging/not charging. If you look at a photo of the phone with the cover off, the battery is pushed down to one side of the phone.(lower left corner of phone looking at screen.) The charger works best for me when i position the phone so the left edge is lined up with the edge of the charger. Once it gets in the 90 percent range the charging rate really slows down, like a percent or so an hour. It WAS working good for me until.....
I got tired of searching, but I had read a thread where people were stating that the phone starting switching through apps, opening and closing and doing weird stuff. Well, it started happening today to me. Somewhere along the line it changed a setting and i lost my nav bar. Tried for hours to find what setting it changed, but never did. Imagine trying to navigate around your phone with no home or return button. PITA. I flashed a updated rom to fix it. What was even worse is I set it on the charger when i had TWRP running and it started cycle screens there also. Considering that it changed my navbar settings, scary what it could do with TWRP.

[Q] Which Qi charger does your new Nexus 5 work well with?

I don't have any Qi chargers handy, I sold my Nexus charger with the Nexus 4 a few months ago. So, in looking for something that works with the Nexus 5 I thought it would be useful to have a thread where others can look up compatibility.
I remember the Nexus 4 did not work very well with the charger that came with the Lumia 920.
I'll probably look for a few cheap ones to do this mod
Qi Charger in Nightstand
Hopefully the Nexus 5 will work with something like that.
My N4 didn't work at all with the Nokia wireless charger. Let's hope this one does. I'm getting it tomorrow so I'll report back when I get a change to try it out.
