Anyone here use one of those cordless charging pads where you can simply place your phone on the pad for a charge? I am looking into purchasing one and would like to hear about anyone's experience with them.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

So far as I know, no one makes one that is specifically compatible with the HTC G2/Desire-Z...
You can still use most of them, but they will require to device to be plugged into the G2/Desire-Z and then for that to be placed onto the charging pad, which kind of defeats the purpose of "wireless charging"
Oh i didnt even know they were made for specific phones, that sucks. Well, thanks for the heads-up.

Ok well let me re-phrase that... The charging pads or mats are not made for specific phones. But the accessories you must buy to make them charge wireless are. For example, to wireless charge a Droid X on the PowerMat, you have to purchase a special battery cover/door for the Droid X. For the true "no wires" effect on any of the wireless charging mats out there, it requires buying a special battery and/or battery cover, if they make one for your device. No one has made one for the HTC Desire-Z/G2 yet that I'm aware of.
It's bleeping charging

i have one
I have one(Power Mat), use it for my HD2. Works very well. Seems to help with battery life, as it seems to charge better a little bit slower. takes about 45 minutes longer the charge my hd2, but lasts hours longer since i got it. Still waiting for a powermat battery cover for my g2, but havent seen one yet. Got mine at walmart for 80 bucks, i think it was well worth it. very easy to charge, dont have to worry about plugging it in all the time, as you just set it down, and it charges.
Does anyone know if the HD2 battery could fit inside the G2...if that's the case, you could mod it to fit. Like the Evo battery for the G2

no, its different. Besides, its isnt the battery that make the powermat work. Its an aftermarket battery cover. You still use your stock battery. The battery cover could not be modded to fit either, as it is completely different in size.
Ah that sucks...thanks...was hoping it was an all in one cover battery.

"Wireless" yet there's a wire into the wall.
How do you charge your phone when you're talking on it?
Hold the mat up to your head?
When they have the ability to use EMF to wirelessly charge your phone,
All you'll need to do is be within the vicinity of the charger.
That's wireless.
I know this kind of defeats the objective but for the time being you could use one of these

Well, with an external charger you can just connect it while not using the phone, and have it top up the battery. I don't see any aesthetic issues doing it that way. It's a great deal easier than opening up the phone and replace the battery. The ultimate would be charger/battery case for i9000 that allows charging from mains, charging to to mini-usb, and use standard i9000 batteries.

I Recently,
Came Across, Probably.....
One Of The Coolest Phone Chargers I've Ever Seen.....
I Was Watching TV & Saw A Commercial Ad For:
The "Duracell" Charger Pad!!
Yeah....."The Battery Co."
Anyways, It's Basically A Pad That You Just Drop Your Phone Onto,
& It Charges, That's It!!
No Matter What....
Brand, Version, Model, Of Phone You Have!!
**Doesn't Matter**
Cool Huh?
There Is No Longer Any Stupid Cord, To Be Plugged Into Your Phone!!
No Need To Carry Multiple Chargers For Different Phones,
You May Have!!
Plus....
You Can (Supposedly).....
Charge Up To *Four* (4) Phones At Once!!
From What I've Seen,
It Looked Like One Of The Best,
"New Phone Inventions"
I've Personally Seen In A While!!
**If It Works** Lol!!
Can Anyone Confirm????

Things like this have been around for a while. You need to install a "reciever" (basically an antenna akin to RFID tag antennas) to get the resonance right so the power transfers wirelessly. It's not just "drop-and-go", if it were, there'd be a lot more of them around. They work but I'm not 100% sure on the effeciency and performance in terms of "speed-charging" but they do work.

Not worth it
Actually I have one of these. The concept is cool, and I thought it was the greatest thing, not having to plug in your phone. But what they don't really stress in the ads is the fact that you need an appendage attached to your phone for this to work. And this appendage is not too small, changing the shape/size of the phone when pluged into its charging port, and also it's quite expensive to get if you want a new one. And this is not really a contact-less charger pad, mine has alternating strips where two of the three contact points on the charging appendage should touch or it won't charge the phone. I used it for a couple of weeks, then stopped using it because of how much pain in the back it was to use it.

I'm surprised we missed this one. There's a new QI wireless car charger that's been announced by Nokia.
Available in May (possibly April) and retails for 69EUR
EDIT: Confirmed, looks like it's compatible with the nexus 4 (see post #11). NFC may be a little tricky though.
http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/cr-200/
Interesting that this was missed in the mainstream news. As long as it fixes the issues that Nokia's home chargers had with the Nexus 4 it'd be something a great buy.
From MobileFun:
"we can confirm that the holder does feature adjustable holders but we do not have specific details on the minimum and maximum size range (we'll update this asap) Although anything close to the Lumia 920 will be suitable."
I'll keep the thread updated with any new relevant information.

Same here, Im really only posting so this thread doesn't get lost in my CP.
Nokia's official blog says it'll be available starting April 2013.
"Known as the CR-200, this phone holder can be mounted on the dashboard or windscreen of your car and can be used in either a horizontal or vertical position – much like any other phone holder.
However, to save you time and hassle from fumbling for the power cable in the footwell, wireless charging is incorporated right into the design. You can leave the holder plugged into the power outlet, as you’re unlikely to be removing that as often as you would the phone. That means all you need to do the next time you sit in the driver’s seat, is slot in your phone to charge.
Additionally, the holder contains an NFC-tag that’s capable of launching predefined apps on your phone. For example, you can choose to automatically launch HERE Drive when you attach your phone – easy!
Retailing at around €69, the CR-200 comes in black and will be available from April 2013."

It could be a number of things that could have caused that. For one, he could have been fidgeting with the car charger while talking and such. We can't multi task too well lol.
But it looked to be consistently charging after panning away.
The only knock is it looks like, just like the Owlpad, the cable comes out of the bottom of the charger. I really wish they would come out the back towards the mount (or better yet be like the Galaxy Nexus mount and go into the base) to better conceal the wire.
Even though I will be getting this when it comes out.

Anyone tested this charger already?
So I received two brand new TYLT VU's yesterday to charge my DROID ULTRA. When I put my phone on the VU the led on the bottom of the VU turns on and continues to flash. Nothing happens on the phone itself, no charge sound or indicator. I left it on all night thinking maybe I'm just going crazy, but the battery went from 58% to 42%. So it is Def not working. Sure hope there is nothing wrong with my phone, and no it's never been dropped... Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I'm not using a case.

Wow, Not sure how I missed that! Dont I feel stupid, but theres a whole thread under Droid Ultra Accessories about wireless chargers, so I figured the whole line up would of had it. Not one post about the Ultra not having it. Expensive lesson learned I guess.
Now the only thing I am wondering is why does the light start blinking on the VU when I put the phone on it? Maybe it has a receiver inside that is just not hooked up/connected?

Because the wireless charger works by magnetism creating energy. When the corresponding magnet isn't in contact with the pad it's off. When it is in contact it turns on.
Why would you ever buy the Ultra over the MAXX? The MAXX is such a better buy.

This is what happens when you have a combined forum for the MAXX and Ultra. Things get a bit confusing.
I would think that it makes more sense to have the primary forum the MAXX, not Ultra. Especially since there's a development version and Motorola provided recovery files for that developer version.

Appears as though it'll be made available over seas first, but coming none the less.
Hopefully we will see those stickers pop up on ebay for $10 or so to enable the wireless charging? Whats the time frame for something like that?
Well I'd say no we don't have any wireless charging sticker options yet, because the pin locations are a bit different than previous LG devices. Though it's only a matter of time, from the videos and photos I've seen of the back of the device without the cover and the inside of the cover, There is definitely a set being utilized for the nfc antenna that comes attached to the battery cover and then another set that are not being touched by anything.
I reached out to LG this morning in regards to the back cover and they gave me the very generic response that they do not know of a wireless back cover and they don't know if or when one would be released...

I've been using Wireless Charging since 2012 first with the Droid DNA. Then in 2013 I got Verizon's LG G2, which also had wireless charging build in. Got tired of the G2, and finally got the G4 and lived without wireless charging for about a month or two. Was hell! Hated plugging it in every night. One night, I reached over to get the G4, and the dam wire dumped everything off my nightstand around 2am. It was a bloddy nightmare! Luckily, the Chinese came along to save the day and offered the first G4 wireless sticker, that didn't work, without a mod.
So now comes the V10, and no wireless charging? Haven't you seen the Samsung commercials mocking the Iphone for no wireless charging. This is 2015, not 1960 for crying out loud! lol
But I must say, at least the V10 has a fingerprint reader. That's getting closer to being as good as the Samsung Edge Plus. But LG again fails to have the best technology on their flagship device.
@MicroMod777 hope you get it cause we need some devs over here. You won't be disappointed it's a great phone.

Wireless chargers still has to be plugged in to an outlet so it's no different than having to plug your phone via the charging port. But you can just lift the phone off the wireless charger blah blah blah, big deal. It takes less than a sec to unplug your phone. You should probably clear your nightstand to avoid dumping all your crap, and was it set at the end of the table that you had to reach over and drag everything to the ground? Just wait for the case if you're so picky.

What's the complaint here anyway? Were talking about a feature that will be supported imminently. Whether with an OEM back cover to support it or 3rd party sticker, It'll be the same slow identical charge any other wireless device charges at. Worse case scenario, you have to plug in a usb for a few weeks. And if you jump on the LG promotion, you wont even have to do that. You can charge the secondary battery in the cradle and swap as needed. In my eyes, that's better than wireless charging... No wait other than the time it takes to swap the battery and reboot the phone.

The question is, which would you rather take: wireless charging (will it be fast wireless charging) or the Qualcomm’s QFE2550 closed-loop antenna tuning solution, known as Qualcomm TruSignal antenna boost technology. Let's not forget, 1 hour 5 minutes to go from 0 to 100%, currently. I figured that's what's on the inside of my back cover, but I could be wrong. Every time I walk in best buy, I see the new antennas you slap on the back of iphones/galaxys.
Personally, I've used wireless and wired. I've got galaxy S6 active and love the wireless for work, only because my plug doesn't drop behind the desk when I disconnect.
But, wireless isn't necessary for me. It might be for the rest of you.
Off topic, I'm much more in love with the 808 with 4GB ram then anything. I've got 30 apps running and I don't see any lag. ...yet. no aggressive memory killing the apps, which I love. Yes the gpu isn't as powerful but I haven't found anything that slows it down (I'm looking at you, modern combat 5). The 4GB ram and 64GB base is just making this phone bad ass. I bought it for the camera and movie capabilities. Removable battery and microsd slot just make me love it more. Just waiting for my stabilizer to come in from Amazon for my tripod.
Does anyone know how to charge while the phone is off ?

People in other forum saying if you plug in your phone, then you can swtich it off, but you can't do it the other way around.
