Late payment of Verizon bill w/ unlimited plans - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

This is kinda related to a GS3 because I have that on my plan, anyway, if I have 2 unlimited data plans still on contract, can Verizon do anything, or will they, if I forgot to pay my bill by the due date and it was paid one day late? It was never disconnected or anything, but just wanted to see if a similar thing happened to anyone else and if they know what Verizon does? I'm just mainly referring to whether they can cancel your unlimited data if you paid a day late, or if it's ok since it wasn't very long after te due date.
Thanks

Lol. No. I got laid off during the summer and had a $600 bill. Just call them and work out a plan. I have one unlimited and three regular lines.
I regularly pay a month late

Your good as long as you call them to let them know before the automated system gets a hold onto your account.

I was gonna say I pay the moment I get a text saying my account is about to be turned off and not any sooner.
If Verizon wants to let me use my upgrade and keep my unlimited data I will change my mind.
Until I leave them this is my practice.

Boom! Me too. When I get the text, I know the bill is due. Then, if I don't have all the cash - I call them and use my mad phone skills. Lol.

But it wasn't even 24 hrs past the initial due date, like it was due on the 1st day and I paid right after noon on the 2nd day. There was no sign of any automated system taking a hold of my account, not tha I know the sign of that, and I already paid it. Do I still need to call them to let them know? What do I need to let them know if it's already paid? And if it's already paid, does their automated system still react to it because it was a few hours late?
For those who say they don't pay until they get the email saying they will be disconnected, how long after the due date of your bill do you get that email?
Thanks

Don't worry about paying anything until you get the text. Lol. Then call them. Get the billing department. They can tell you how long you have until they cut you off. If you make an agreement with them the service stays on.

When im hard up for cash I set my priorities
house car insurance food at then late fees credit cards then vzw 5 dollars late fee then I would pay current late total at least half for vzw
Vzw does not report to the big three credit card report companies

lol I cant believe there is a thread on this topic...i guess i should create a guide "how to not pay your bill and keep service on 4.1.2" .

Having worked for Big Red for a couple of years as a CSR/Tech Support (not currently), yes you can go through the automated system and let them know a payment has been "sent" even tho you may not have actually sent one. This is stop them from bothering you for a while. Unless you are extremely delinquent (Past 2+ months), they won't turn your phone off. There's usually a 25-35 re-activation fee per line but you keep your same plan.
I pay late myself just because it works better for my financial situation and changing bill cycle/due date is such a PITA. I highly recommend against it because 99% CS rep don't know how to calculate your pro-rations and end up effing it up, costing you both time and money.

Like I said in another thread. The S3 General forum is turning into an OT-like forum. I don't know if it's age differences (I'm 34) but it seems to me that a lot of people need their hand held for a lot of frivolous things nowadays. Like "should I use a screen protector on my phone?", "I'm thinking about changing phones, need opinions, help!". C'mon. :silly:

That's a lot of money man but the reason my plan is 300$ is because I get Walgreen discount plus a reduction from an issue with Verizon... The store manager put me on a 2yr contract when I signed up with a used phone.. That asshole got me like 40$ of the plan for the first year he hehe.

paying late shouldn't affect your credit, but i would read all the fine print about your unlimited plan. i am on unlimited plan and they do not slow down my speeds and I still maintain the account. I use over 50gb a month so i really need it. always be careful not to lose it.

Verizon sign up deposit ...

i know i could call Verizon but i hate using my phone to talk to someone, so....
The deposit you pay when you first sign up, do you get that back after the 1st year is up or the 2nd?...
and do they just give you the money back or applying "credit" to your account?... that and can you just use it towards another phone?
Did you have to pay a deposit to open a line or are you talking about something else?

I believe you are looking at about a 6-8 month turnaround. They review your account after so much time and if its in good standing, you get it back.

cool. it's been 5 months so far. wonder if i should put it to a new phone or stick with this thing a tad longer. granted, this is the only "current" phone that i like.
I'd wait. Big things on the horizon.
FYI, a quick story....
When I signed up with Verizon in 2006 (freshly 18, and had zero credit) i was required to place a $100 deposit which I would recieve back after a year of good payments. After about 18 months, i realized that i never got my deposit back. It took a few phone calls, to both Verizon and my Bank for them to give my $100 back.... so while they did give me the money back.... my advice would be to hold onto that receipt!!!
deposits are held for one year.
After a year, they will review for things like bounced checks and such. As long as you have clean payment history, they apply the deposit to the account, then mail a check for any remain credit balance.
If you don't pass the review, they hold it for a few more months and review again. They'll continue to hold until you have something like 3 months of clean payments.

Hey some people have awesome priorities! But also keep in mind that sometimes "bad" credit isnt their doing or happened because of circumsatances beyond their control. Divorces, theft identity, things like that. Did you know that credit reporting companies in themselves arent the most honest people to deal with (unless you are an A+ list celeb)
The area I personally start having problems is, seeing as how I believe everyone should have a second chance, as long as they learn from their mistakes (as I had to), and do not repeat them.Or the ones that constantly feed off the "government trough" but thats another story.
Im glad you are improving things ..Stick with it. There is a light at the end of the tunnel
When i went back to Verizon after being away for several years... They wanted a $400... I waited three months and tried again got in with no deposit... And no change in credit score according to the service I was using at the time... Go figure...

that's not bad, had to pay 250 per line on sprint years ago. The weird thing is, about every six months, they would credit it back, even though it had already been credited. Happened 4-5 times over the years.

+1 That's what I was thinking. Idk too much about paying the phone bill, but if you are interested in unlimited data, you can still get it easy enough from ATT. Then you will have three gigs of unthrottled data, for $30 a month. Just me talking. But definitely check out that link. And everyone knows that Ctrl+R is for the win..

Love this quote from VZW's CFO

"Shammo said Verizon was surprised to see such a large number of subscribers with unlimited data plans have actually switched to the company’s shared offerings. “Unlimited is just a word,” he said. “It doesn’t really mean anything. … The whole unlimited thing is going by the wayside.”
So I guess that means that if I wasn't grandfathered and "shared everything", my bill for data over 10GB would be "just a number" and I could "pay anything" I wanted???
LMAO
Shammo says stupid **** like this all the time. This will probably be my last vzw phone because I don't like giving money to people that blatantly say they are trying to milk their customers and give them nothing in return after getting ****ed.
Some wealthy corporate executives can't imagine people complaining about paying more money for what they desire to charge . . . because it eventually trickles into their annual bonus pay and that's their number one focus.
- ooofest
"Shammo", sounds like that big fat whale I saw on southpark, the one they sent to the moon, hehe. Probably on the same level of intelligence, if the whale isn't actually smarter than that guy.

Dead on, for me. I liked the concept of unlimited. Maybe even more, I liked the relative stability of monthly bills. I don't use much mobile data (about 2 gigs/mo.), so switching to the new plan saved me a few bucks. Still... I don't like it.
But, on the point of the thread, the comment should be embarrassing for the company and the board. The CFO, of all people, saying that the word "unlimited" is imprecise.
I'm fed up with Verizon for other reasons. How's Sprint's or T-Mobile's value?
I have 5 phones on a business account, 2 with unlimited data, 2 with 2gb a month and a feature phone. Every month when i go in to pay my bill they tell me about their new share everything plans that may be able to save me money. I just laugh, tell him I'm good and walk away.

Same here 2 gigs just isnt enough for anything other than the basics, if you wanted to stream a movie or netflex or football you're going to go over that limit in a heart beat.
Ive noticed the carriers starting to advertise unlimited so if enough leave maybe vzw will reconsider. maybe
And btw mr big shot shammo we didn't change because we liked your new plans we were forced to.

No, its a line they always pitch you in store when they try to put you at ease about paying more for less. It is true though, the vast majority doesn't exceed their 2gb allowance therefore "unlimited" is typically just a number
If people dont use that much data theb why did they take away unlimited? Yeah, they are greedy. The old cell days were cool with all the innovation and unlimited data. Not anymore.

You got lucky, it all depends on who you get. I was told 2 days ago that they can only go a max of 3 months. Before that I was told 30 days... it varies depending on who you talk to. Supervisors can do a lot more than the first agents you talk to. AT&T is VERY inconsistent you will get different answer each time you call.

This is one way. Or just call like 6 months later and just ask nicely. It helps if you can "bundle" together multiple lines that you can upgrade. Even better if you've been a loyal customer for over a 14 years like me
That being said, they're never denied me when I asked. Just be reasonable. Usually they say the upgrade price + $250 early upgrade fee. Just ask nicely if he/she can talk to a supervisor and do something about that fee. They'll usually say yes.

Selling note 5 on jump program??..

So I have a note 5 on the jump program with tmobile, which is for 18 months.. I've been wanting to get the nexus 6p because I'm kind of burnt out of tw and all its restrictions, I actually left vzw and at&t for those reasons and joined tmo since they allow you to be free, but with Sammy that's not really freedom.. I put my S6 on swappa for sell but as we all know people on swappa are like craigslisters, basically want a new phone in awesome condition for free.. So I am considering putting my note 5 up for sale since I'll get more money.. I was told by a tmobile rep in a store near my home that I couldn't do that, that I'd have to keep the phone for the period of my lease.. Was wondering if the good folks here on xda could either confirm or know of a work around??.. Any help is appreciated thanks xda..

Is your phone paid off? If not, then you can't sell it.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
As @darkjedi said, you can't sell it if it has not been paid off. Untill the phone is not paid off that note 5 that you have is not yours, it belongs to t-mobile untill you pay it off.
I mean, sure you can sell it, but you'd be a gigantic tool if you haven't paid it off. My friend bought an S6 off CL, the guy hadn't paid it off, then reported it stolen. My friend had to pay to get a new IMEI. Shady.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
You could sell it to an acquaintance and be upfront about the fact that you haven't paid it off. Take the money from the sale and buy the 6P and continue to make the payments on your Note 5. In essence you'd be making payments on your new 6P. So yes, technically it can be done. There's nothing that will make it not work. You just need to be upfront about it.

If you're on jump on demand your swappa listing would not have even listed because the admins wouldnt have allowed it. Swappa is actually amazing. I don't sell a phone any other way, but I digress... If I were you (and I'll be doing the same here soon) I would buy the 6P...go the T-Mobile store and jump to the cheapest "jumpable" phone...you would have only like a 5 dollar charge every month for the cheap phone. While you're there tell them to activate the 6P...leave store with both phones...head home...Make a sandwich. Done

In essence you'd be making payments on your new 6P. So yes, technically it can be done. There's nothing that will make it not work. You just need to be upfront about it.

I was thinking the same thing especially since there's no avoiding the payments since its tied into your bill...

Just jump to another phone if you're on Jump on Demand... That's the reason you got the phone on jump originally right?

If tmobile carried the nexus 6p this would be soo much easier but I've heard that only the Google store is going to provide the phone.. They don't carry anything better than note 5 imo...

Done

Didn't flame, nor did anyone else that I am aware of. XDA was pretty bad with flaming back a while for sure tho, even had little crews that would do really just that. Thankfully tho, for the most part that is over. Generally speaking, if you post in the wrong area a moderator will move it, no reason to start another thread with the same topic is all I was saying. You can click report thread, then thread maintenance and request it moved, if they feel it's in the wrong section they move it.

Guys here's the key difference between JUMP and JOD : with JUMP after you make your stipulated 24 payments the phone is YOURS. With JOD when you fulfill your 18 month lease contract the phone MUST be traded for another phone at the T-Mobile store OR THE BALANCE ON IT PAID OFF.
This is clearly stated by T-Mobile. JOD is for people who want the latest phones and DON'T CARE about ownership.
So OP in your particular case you have to pay off the phone FIRST and then sell it as you please.
People please know what you're getting into before you sign for any program!!!

It's actually practically the same thing though as TMOBILE is now allowing the balance at the 18 month period to be spread out into a final 6 payments. In addition, the total amount paid regardless of program is the same if you intend to keep the device. It's just presumed that if you're on JOD you won't actually go that long without jumping to something else.

Thank you. Why do people act as if you are doing jump on demand it is somehow costing you more or that you don't have the option of keeping the device? To me it's all about options. If at the end of the lease you want to keep the phone just pay the remaining price (either in full or another installment plan). And if you were to add up what you already paid with what is left over it is the same exact price as if you purchased it outright from the start - nothing more. If you want to own the phone prior to the lease's end (for example you want to sell the phone) you can pay off the phone in full anytime prior to the lease ends. So I don't understand why a person wouldn't take the option of JOD as it just gives you options. For example I used one of my jumps to upgrade from the 32gb to the 64gb. And since they had the sale of $100 off my bill is actually cheaper. I actually came out $31 ahead as I had my first 3 months paid via a samsung promotion and I only made two payments when I made my jump. As I keep saying (and have read others saying it as well) JOD is all about options.
I thought the whole point of the 'Jump' program, was you get a nice new phone like the Note 5, make your monthly payments, then say come Spring time, you want the shiny new HTC One M10, you bring in your Note 5 and exchange it for the One M10, costing you nothing, except maybe tax ?
And I think you can do that three times over 18 months ?
That's the program I am on, maybe that's called JoD ? But whatever, I think that's the best way to go IMO. My monthly bill will stay the same, and I can get up to three different phones over the course of a year and a half.
I signed up with T-Mobile to get the Note 5 back in August, and joined the JoD program, I won't keep this Note 5 past the Note 6 release. I will either A; get something this Spring, like the HTC One M10, or maybe LG G5, or the Nexus 6P if T-Mobile ever get's it. Or B; wait for the Note 6. But no way do I keep a phone for 18 months, there's always something else I go for.

Yep, that's the advantage of JOD. However, the price of what your monthly payment will change based on the price of the phone. If you jump to a phone that costs more than the one that you are turning in the monthly payment will increase. Conversely if you jump to a phone that costs less than the one that you are turning in your monthly payment will decrease. Also with JOD you pay nothing up front - the taxes are included in your monthly payment. Also keep in mind that each time you jump you are starting the lease over and it's as if you didn't make any payments on the phone that you are turning in.
