Can u boot into recovery and wipe data factory reset. Also u didnt have to go back to ics you can root jb.

Turn off phone, Vol Up + Power boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset. Try this first!
If else, Odin a complete factory image. FYI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204 this will completely wipe internal storage, but should revive a soft brick.

Rainbow recovery and flashing rom

Hey everybody, so I might be posting in the wrong section but since its a question I figured I'd post in the Q&A. So my question is since I still have froyo BL and on CM9 can I still flash another rom even though my recovery has the rainbow effect? In recovery the top 1/3 is rainbow but the rest I can read good. I want to flash revolution rom. And I would Odin or heimdall back to stock and go from there but I have no PC. So yeah would it be safe to wipe all and flash revolution even though I'm on a froyo BL, blue CWM and on CM9?

Yeah, you have had to wait a really long time for an answer. I figured folks were just waiting for you to check out the other threads with the exact same question.
Just messing with you, and you'd really be fine to flash the rom that you want to flash. Your best bet would be to get set up right, though. To get rid of the rainbows, it's not too hard to get Gingerbread bootloaders. Follow the instructions in this post to a "t", including the part in the FAQ about how to get red CWM, and you'll have everything you need for a rainbow free rom flashing experience. It will get you set up on stock Gingerbread with custom recovery. Then you can flash any of the other available roms.:

Download stock rom and flash through odin. If you don't get this then your pretty much screwed. Next time learn what your doing before you do it. Also learn how to go back
problem solved

Don't forget to make a backup

infuse stuck at boot....researched a bunch of threads to no avail.

Greetings,
I tried flashing a custom rom on my Fiance's phone. It stuck at boot loop. I retried everything on this thread.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What ROM did you have on the phone and what ROM are you trying to flash? And this should be in the Q&A section not the development page.

Try heimdall...

Was going to suggest that too.

Probably best to go back to GB with Root, then flash the Heimdall ICS revcovery, then pick your ROM and follow the instructions on the OP.
What did u use to root?

Flashing from ics back to gingerbread in cwm

I am trying to revert from an ics rom to a gingerbread rom via cwm. Is there anything special I have to do?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Assuming your cwm is up to date just wipe cache and system then flash. But ALWAYS remember to make a backup first.
On a side note, ever use twrp?

Ummm, its a little more complicated than Flashing.Lol
You are reverting system files and such. Grab you a STOCK image from Sammobile than flash in Odin following the steps outlined in konanes thread in the dev section. Don't ever flash backwards between versions of android in cwm, you'll soft brick your phone. Bad advice ^^^^dude

I'm talking about going from firmware versions not ROMs. Going GB to ICS is fine. ICS to GB takes odin
Bml /mtd The partitions are changed from GB to ICS .

Hmm, guess I learned something today.
I've never had a problem going from jb to ics. But I've never flashed back to gb
