[chroot] No longer working - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
For the last week or so I've been able to run alternate OSes on my P3113 using chroot scripts.
Today I must have deleted something incorrectly as I can longer access my img file using chroot.. I get an error complaining that 'bin/bash' is accessing a corrupted library. Have done a lot of searching (pretty much all day) and no luck in solving the issue.
I've also tried reflashing my stock ROM then re-rooting the tablet, that didn't solve it. Tried resetting to factory defaults, that didn't solve it. Tried re-extracting the IMG file, that didn't solve it. Tried re-installing busybox, that didn't solve it. Tried a lot of other things, no luck.
Anyone out there able to offer some help?
Thanks,
d

Phone Resetting

Hi all. I'm having an issue and i know that the awesome people on here will be able to help me out. I have a Samsung Vibrant, rooted, 8GB class 6 sd card, running Cyanogen 7 (loving it) and for some reason lately, my phone will reset itself during phone calls. i'm not sure if it's Cyanogen 7 or not, but i haven't had this issue before running Bionix and Trigger and so forth. It may just be a huge coincidence, but it's annoying none-the-less. Thank you in advance for your help.
/proc/last_kmsg
Is there a file named /proc/last_kmsg that has a time stamp similar to when the phone rebooted? Sometimes you can look there to see if there are any useful kernel messages that can help you narrow down the problem.

/proc/kmsg is the current file that is being written to. It probably doesn't have any useful information since it gets recreated at boot and the details of your crash would be gone.
Have you tried running fix permissions or anything like that? Could be a good general troubleshooting step. Also, maybe look at your radio version and see if there are other versions our there you could flash.
Other than that, I would turn to the XDA forum for your device, or even the cyanogenmod forums.

I had this happen on another device type and it turned out the Radio needed to be re-flashed. Started working fine after that.
thanks to both of you. i will give that a shot.

[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 status 7 question

Hey, I've searched through the cyanogenmod 7 thread looking for an answer and I couldn't find one that helped to solve my problem. Every time I try to install the rom I keep on getting the status 7 error message. I took the advice of some and formatted the phone, cleared the cache (all of them) twice each and still no luck. I saw one poster that recommend replacing the update script but the link he gave is no longer active. I'm very new to all of this and I've tried search as much as I could but came to find nothing that helped me out too much. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Use the CWM recovery linked in the CM7 thread
I've already installed the CWM Recovery and the Voodoo Kernal. I tried installing it after the CWM and I got the error so then I installed the Voodoo Kernal and got the same thing.
Ps. this is the CWM Recovery I'm using, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16115419&highlight=cwm+recovory#post16115419
(sorry it wont let me post the actual link, but its the CWM3_CM7
Get the one from the fascinate CM7 thread. Why are you worried about installing a voodoo kernel? Sounds like some more reading would be a good idea before flashing anything.
Is this the one you're referring to? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021
I only went for the voodoo because it was suggested by someone else.

No. The Fascinate CM7 thread.
I did as you suggested and now it installs, but when I try to boot up, it is stuck at the "Galaxy S Gyanogen (mod)" screen. Thanks for your help again though, I've at least made some progress haha.

Updating ROM with CWM just reverts to menu?

Hey,
I'm trying to install the [ROM] Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray [9/10/11].
I've got CWM installed (version recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img but also tried latest version from ROM Manager).
Each time i try to install the .zip it get's to opening package and then just exits to the CWM menu?
It's probably a common thing, but couldn't find anything from a search? Anyone got any ideas?
This has been covered many times so take the time to do a search.

I had to thank you Muffycheeks for your excellent answer. I am not sure why you did not at least give an indication about where to find the answer or what the issue is? Lucky this was posted in Q&A and not in the dev thread!
I am new to Xoom (only got it since yesterday) and have managed to get the bootloader unlocked and custom recovery installed. For some reason when I reboot the device the recovery is flash back to 3e (I suppose this has been also debated millions of times but I cannot find it yet...)
I had been able to flash one of the custom roms but it gets stuck in bootscreen. I wiped everything I could think of and followed a couple of advices and still not working.
I am downloading the other rom (as far as I can tell there are only 2 customs with one of them based on the other one) and will see if that works.
Sorry Addicteddddd for highjacking your thread but I have been searching for a while until I found your thread and I thought my issues were over to find the standard helpful XDA answer. Some people might have had their device for years but some other are quite new to this.
K.
EDIT: It seems that one of the recoveries do not advise if a ZIP file is bad and therfore comes back with no message. I suppose this is why this is happening.
I downloaded 3 ZIP files and they are all corrput. Not sure what is happening here but anyway.

I don't know if you used this guide but there is a bit of discussion of some issues regarding cwm recovery versions and some pitfalls while trying to flash.Check it out if you haven't
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
Also, how are you downloading the file? Are you getting the right version? If you are using the R4c v3.2.0.0 it should be called solarnz, not tiamat. The guide has the correct link.

[Q] Help with Flashing Linkify fix to CleanRom 6? (Solved)

Yes, I'm a noob,to XDA, but I am pretty tech capable otherwise.
Yesterday, I unlocked the bootloader on my OneX, installed TWRP 2.3.x recovery, flashed CleanRom, ended up with a soft bricked the phone (still not sure what happened, but I think it was my stupid ancient work computer), tried to reinstall it, but the zip file was no longer in the SD card, tried to mount in recovery, but it was unsuccessful, tried to reinstall the 2.20 RUU, but it failed (all of these were probably B/C my work computer again). Gave up and came home. Got home to my modern PC, reformatted my SD, transferred Zips again and was finally able to get CleanROM to install correctly. All seems good, I setup the phone last night.
However, I have a problem with hyper-links that Scott has already acknowledged here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38936130&postcount=9922
I would have just asked this in that thread, but I don't have enough posts to write in Dev forums.
So, does anyone mind directing me to some basic instructions for 'flashing' the Link Fix Zip that Scott mentioned? I am assuming it is not the same method as installing the ROM.zip from TWRP, or is it?
After soft bricking yesterday, I'd really prefer some hand holding on this so that I don't mess up the successful CleanROM install.
Thanks in advance.
flash it in recovery just like the rom

Done, unless there is a tool for marking the thread "solved". I looked but didn't see anything.

No, i woke up about 1 week ago to this and since then been trying different ways to try to solve the issue.
what i have tried so far is:-
factory reset/restore
install philz rom
re-install kies and try from there however doesn't recognize my device, even when inputting model and s/n? I'm not competent at all in working with android and i don't really know what i am doing.
when i put the device in recovery mode it says:
E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)
i have looked at many different web pages relating to this and similar issues but i must admit i have not got a scooby doo regarding what i need to do?
Im sorry that this may seem basic for most, but im trying to learn as i go so any assistance would be gratefully received.
THANKS.
Matt.
