I had this problem with my tablet on twrp. Wiping data fixed this, but can't confirm this for our phones

Which recovery do you use? If CWM, does mounts and storage -> mount USB storage not working?
Anyway, from bootloader you can use factory images to restore your phone.
Factory images, and guide to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307
How about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468372
My sd mounting got busted too after this much crackflashin . i thought it got toast .. The solution was the Factory image through fastboot.

I really don't understand why people think when they reset their phone/wipe data and then try to reboot their phone everything will be okay. You have some options. First, since I'm assuming you deleted everything off your SD card, you don't have a back-up available so you will need a computer or some other way to get a ROM zip onto your SD card. First thing, hold the vol. up and power button to boot into HBOOT. From here you will able to get into recovery. From recovery you can either mount your SD card and place another ROM onto your sd card and flash as normal or you can restore your back-up provided you didn't delete it. Another way, which I have no experience in, is you can boot into HBOOT via abd. No idea how to do it but that will also require a computer. If you can't get into Recovery but you can get into HBOOT, I know there is PD98IMG that you can flash via HBOOT that will give you a working ROM.

Unless you know of another way to get a zip file onto your sd card without a working ROM already or a computer, please let us all know haha, until then you'll need a computer..sorry bud!
in the future, if you ever reset or data wipe (not cache or dalvik cache wipe) always always always flash a new ROM or restore a back-up, as you can tell nothing awesome happens!
thank you not a noob but don't know everything. Thank you again. But if I had a good rom on there and i did what I said why would it not just delete the data on the sd card and then boot up again? Just wondering why. Thank you.

I'm assuming you did the factory reset and not the wipe data from recovery option, so I'm not sure exactly what happens scientifically with the phone itself but when you did it, the reset function probably reset some system files or something on the phone in addition to wiping your SD card. While wiping your SD card won't cause this to happen (I wipe my card from time to time leaving only the clockwork files for my back-ups and photos), whatever the factory reset does to the phone, it changed something that caused the ROM to become unstable and consequently not boot.
Ok thank you. I learn from my mistakes lol thank you again.

To answer your question, sure you can do it without a PC, use a MAC
Bustin' your chops. But in reality, if your SD card is empty you'll need to get a ROM downloaded to the SD, and if your phone won't boot then you won't be able to do it from your phone, so you'll need a computer. Once you have a ROM downloaded to the SD, boot to recovery and flash. This is most easily accomplished by booting to recovery, going to mounts and storage, Mount USB Storage. Now your computer will recognize the SD as a mass storage device. Copy the ROM to the SD, unmount mass storage, flash .zip from SD, choose .zip, flash away
So, to make the long story short...
basically, I have no cache partion.
I was rooting my nexus s and flashing a rom everything was fine until I retardedly pressed wipe cache partition in clockwork recovery so now i can still boot up normally but i can't do anything as you all no, the nexus s doesn't have an external card slot, so my phone says that I haven't got an sd card inserted.
Is there any way to bring back the cache partition and how could i make it recognise it as the sd card?

The problem above seems to have fixed itself but now I have another problem. I have flashed MIUI rom and I don't know where the superuser app has gone since I rooted it. So now I can't flash a newer version of CWM and I'm stuck with this rom. I have downloaded the CWM 5.x.x.x.x from the other thread but I am not able to flash it even with update.zip. I seem to be unable to flash anything at the moment because in CWM it just aborts everything because the 'cache' partition is not there. Also when I go boot up normally into MIUI, I can't turn wifi on, everytime I change it to on, it just won't let me and it says error below the switch. Is there anyway to fix this at all?
I think you need to go back into clockwork mod recovery, go to mounts menu, make sure sdcard is mounted. If you can't mount it, you'll have to format it. If you can mount it, then do it, then go to mount usb, and hook up to a computer and back up everything you have in your sdcard folder just to be safe. You can now flash your ROM again.
If you have nothing in your sdcard folder when you connect to the computer, download an undelete program that works with flash drives, and see if it can restore your files.

thx for the suggestion, but I have tried that already and in clockworkmod it says that I can't mount or format the partition as because they don't exist so I don't have any idea what to do.
Also I am able to boot my phone into the rom I have flashed but when I try to turn on the wifi, it gives me and error and turns off, is there a way to solve this at all?
can you use SD partition in CWM to create it again?
Just throwin it out there, not sure if it would work or not?

Okay so I have a problem, I was on CM10 nightlies and realized I hadn't updated in awhile so I went to flash another nightly. Being the careless person I am I clicked the link and downloaded and flashed the most recent ROM uploaded without realizing it was CM9. This put me into a bootloop. I went into fastboot and did a factory restore to fix the bootloop but the restore restores me to CM9. That's not the main problem though, my internal SD card isn't recognized by the phone so I can't even flash another ROM. Please help. :3

Have you tried going into the storage settings and make sure sdcard is mounted? And have you tried to USB Mount from recovery to your computer to verify that windows sees it and it isn't a hardware failure

That leads me to believe it may be a hardware issue. I'll see what I can find out
When you say settings app, you mean inside of recovery, right?
Can you see if you can mount the storage in adb

Oh I thought you meant the actually settings app. But mounting in recovery doesn't work either. And it shouldn't be a hardware issue, it was working just fine yesterday before I got stuck in that boot loop. And my phone isn't recognized in adb. :3 Everything is broken! Haha
So you can boot into your ROM, you can boot recovery, but you can't access storage..
What happens if you do 'adb devices'? If nothing shows up go install the aokp/cm10 drivers. It may work for cm9

If you did a factory reset in hboot (as opposed to in recovery) it wipes your SDCard without formatting it. I did this once too, and if you're in the same boat, try the solution in this thread:

Hello to everyone. I have a great problem with my Nexus S. Today I have done a factory reset, format sd and format system from clockworkmod recovery to install another rom (Jellybam rom). I've do this but now the phone doesn't boot. I see the first image with the lock in the bottom of the screen then only a black screen. I can go to the recovery yet. Is there a possibility to restore my phone?? Thanks for answering.

Yes of course. You have formatted your SD, which shouldn't have been done.
In CWM, mounts & storage > mount USB storage and transfer to ROM and Gapps files.
Flash them and you will boot just fine. In future make sure not to wipe/format SD.

Hi folks.
I'm facing a really weird problem. My friend's N5 doesn't want to boot with Lollipop, it shows the boot animation, but nothing happens, more than an hour and nothing.
I tried to flash back to kit kat. It indeed booted, but just to say that the camera and gallery has stopped, and gallery couldn't find any storage. When I go to the storage section in the settings, it doesn't show the pictures, music and other sources, just available space, cache and apps.
I tried to flash a custom rom to, but they all give me bootloops.
I never had this problems with my n4, so i don't know what to do anymore.
Any solutions?
Flash lollipop with fastboot. Then boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset. Everything will be fine.

Hmm. Try fastboot formatting all the partitions and then flashing the image again. Can't hurt.

Yes, i'm absolutely sure. I'm used to use fastboot to flash my Nexus 4. I downloaded the proper factory image from Google and flashed it using both flash-all.bat and manual input in the cmd.
I tried to erase the partitions, format using TWRP, and install a custom ROM.
With twrp I can see the the internal storage partition, and even mount it to access by computer. But when the device boots, it just can't see the partition.
I put a song in the internal storage with twrp just to test, and when the device booted it didnt recognize the song, but when I got back to recovery, it was still there.
It seens that the problem is in the internal storage, but I don't know how to fix, and what could have caused it.
* Sorry, my english is bad :/

I have wiped everything lots of times.
It's the first time I have a hard time trying to fix an android phone...
Now I flashed kitkat image again. It booted but with the storage problem. Then I update via notification, and it stuck in lollipop boot animation.
I will let it booting through the night. Or it boots after a couple of hours or the battery dies.

Yeah this seems kinda crazy. Usually when stuff gets messed up like this a factory image clears it up. In your case, I honestly don't know what else to recommend. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Replace internal storage, nothing else you can do
Nothing worked in the end. My friend will send the phone to tech support.
Thank you guys for the help.
