Like the title says, my phone will not activate. I was using liquid smooth 4.2.1 beta1b. It was running flawlessly then I saw the slimbean 4.2.1 beta release and did a clean flash. When first turning on, i selected english then went to the next screen where it was stuck on "Activating... " and never activated. I booted into cwm and my backups disappeared, so i reinstalled liquidsmooth and got the same error. So then I figured it was my modem so i installed vrblk13 (i think it is... the newest one), rebooted and got the same error of not finding service. So after this I odin'd back to stock jelly bean, still no service. What could it be??
Do i need to odin back to ics or something? Im so lossed at this point as to what it could be. Settings wont even show my number as if the sim card isnt in, but it definitley is as ive taken it out and put it back in..
Any help GREATLY appreciated

After you attempt to make a call, which won't work.
Go to Settings.
Mobile NetWork
CDMA Subscription
Switch from NV -> RUIM/SIM
Reboot.
Try to see if you can make a call.
Thank you very much, that did the trick. Any chance you can explain what that did, and if i went back to 4.2 if it'd make it work? (im back to 4.1.2 pa

It flipped the phone from using MEID based authentication to RUIM authentication ( the LTE sim)
The same thing happened to me when i flashed cm10.1 I originally thought it killed my imei.

Hey guys, I decided to go back to stock 2.3.3 from cyanogen yesterday via recovery. Everything went fine and worked on the stock rom until I got the update from google to 2.3.6....
So then my signal bar started showing an X right after the update and the notification bar says Emergency Calls only. Im pretty sure the APN is right as I have re entered it multiple times. My cousins sim card also didnt work on my phone.
Did the 2.3.6 OTA bust my radio or something?
PS: I flashed my phone back to the Cyanogen recovery I've made before all this and it still didn't work.

Sent from my Nexus S running NSCollab ROM and Mathkid's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Kernel!!!
So I originally rooted my S3 using odin and a stock verizon software followed by using ez bootload unlock, ez recovery, and clockwork mod. I used the custom rom cyanogen mod, and eventually continued to update those roms when they rolled out the OTA updates. When the latest update came out on the 18th I noticed an issue with my contacts. Due to this I reverted to the 16th rom, but something went terribly wrong. At this time I tried re-rooting, tried different types of rooting and got my device working along with my contacts back, but it rendered my sim card useless. I tried everything I could find on the internet. I finally covered my tracks and took it to the verizon store. They replace the sim card, but it still didn't work. They replaced my device, and me being dumb I rooted it again. Same original rooting that worked the first time. It worked at first, but then the same issue occurred. I'm not sure what to do, I can't go back to verizon again. They will expect something this time. It makes no sense. The hardware is not an issue, there is some data error somewhere. PLEASE HELP!!!
TLDR; Crazy weird data issue maybe? Whoever can solve this will be the House of Android rooting.

Why don't you try to Odin a pre-rooted Verizon stock can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436 to see if it addressed both our your issues?
I just had some major issues with this as well. There is something wrong with the nightly versions of CM 10.1.
Like you - I flashed CM 10.1 12/18 and found that my data was not working. I then searched this forum and found that other users were having the no data issue as well. I decided that I would do the same and flash back to an earlier CM 10 release from December, but the update did not go as expected. Due to going 10.1 to 10 I had to wipe data/cache/dalvik. At this point I got CM 10 reinstalled, but the phone came up with NO cell coverage. I went to System Settings -> About -> Status and found that the phone was no longer registering my cellular network (Verizon) or phone number. My IMEI data was dead.
Luckily in my case I had already made backups of my IMEI data per this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
I restored my IMEI and reflashed CM 10 12/16. Everything is now working as expected. Your issue sounds identical to mine - I just spent half the day fighting with the exact same issue. I definitely learned my lesson about staying so current with the NIGHTLY builds for day-to-day non-dev use. I knew it before, it just never bit me like this.
Anyways, I hope this information helps you somewhat. Good luck!

You most likely lost you imei/min or something, you can check in settings>about phone>status. Easy way to correct it is to flash a older stock ICS image and use the reprovision code. Flash this in odin then type this in the dialer *2767*3855# and that should fix ya back up. Flashing anything carries a risk of dropping your imei but it happens much more on AOSP roms.
I've tried everything from flashing back to stock 4.0.4 with those radios to re provisioning to trying other custom roms. My 4g only works when I flash CM10.1 and change my cdma subscription to ruim/sim. Any ideas what could be going on or how i can fix it?

If the CM10.1 is only thing that works you did not Odin back and reset correctly. Those are the 2 options and both work.

Basically what I've done so far:
I followed section #5 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709 to reset back to stock, and was not getting 4g. So I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114 to upgrade to 4.1.1 and to root/unlock the bootloader. I then flashed back into CM10.1 and it originally showed roaming so i switched to ruim/sim and 4g did show back up. I try to make a call from cm10.1 and wasn't able too. I then thought maybe it was the IEMI/ERI issue. So I dropped it back to 4.0.4 and followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442 to see if they needed repaired, and everything was correct. I then flashed to root66 and did a provisioning and am still stuck on 3g. And that is currently where I am at.
After a little more messing around with it I flashed back to CM10.1 (all builds I have used were dated past 12/24) and was on roaming. I did the ruim/sim, and then flashed to a stock 4.1.1 and 4g showed up for a little but still had the same problem of not being able to make a phone call. I receive "mobile network not available"
Please bare with me since this is the first time having to post for an issue since I usually find an answer on your forums
So here's the situation.
I bought the photon q 4g lte from ebay and it came with the unlocked bootloader.
Needless to say it was with the stock ics and i tried to find a jellybean update because it wasn't taking the ota and ended up going with cyanogen since i had no problems before. However those phones i had before were with sim cards not cdma.
I found out i couldn't update prl or profile manually without having to do something on the pc.
So after searching left and right i found i could use rsl lite (I used 6.1.5) and eventually found the "stock" file from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095536&highlight=rsd+lite
I did the stock jellybean, got it to go through the process and it booted up with no errors.
However, when it boots into the os it pops up a force close on omadmclient_sprint_dataservice and eventually also on the process com.android.phone.
I tried putting it in airplane mode to see if the service error would go away but it didn't work for the process part crashing.
I tried re-flashing, deleting cache in recovery, doing a data/factory reset in recovery and the one time i was able to do a data factory reset within the settings menu.
I could not find anyone that said they had a rom that worked with sprint and updating prl within the rom, if anyone knows of one let me know and i will flash it through rsd.
Otherwise does anyone have an idea of what could be happening because googling the omadmclient part did not pull up anything specific and pulling up the process issue for other phones has not helped me either.
Was this a hacked GSM phone, or are you using it as CDMA?
I've never heard of people having FC issues after flashing a FXZ from RSD. Which one did you flash? Android 4.1.2 - Sprint US - 9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5 (No simlock) ?
If you are on stock, you should be able to update the PRL within the ROM.
I was trying to use it with cdma network through sprint. and yeah that was the file i downloaded, had to remove the getvar to get it working but flashed with no errors after doing that.
As for updating the prl i can barely navigate through the phone, there is no home page loading and the process pop comes up often enough that its hard to go through the settings

Sounds like something went wrong mate. Are you already activated on Sprint? I don't know if that would matter, it might.
I would honestly redownload and redo the RSD process.

I originally tried to activate the phone through cyanogen and then when the rep said he couldnt do it because of the lack of prl to update within the rom we just setup the activation back on the old phone/ That phone is working on the network.
I re-downloaded the file just in case and re-flashed but same problem. The only thing i thought of was maybe updating the radio but since its a stock rom it should work out of the gate. whats also weird is i tried turning wifi on but it didnt work either.
Anychange you know of a rom that works with sprint. I dont care if its stock since i would probably root later again.

Which one are you flashing?
Try another perhaps...? I honestly have never heard of this. It sounds like the phone might be damaged, or the RSD process just did not flash correctly.
I guess I should ask, was the phone modified at all for the GSM SIM slot mod? I wonder if having a non-Sprint SIM in is messing with it... That is just a shot in the dark.

so far the only rom i tried was 10.1 cyanogen and the stock rom for jellybean. However for the stock rom it doesnt let me downgrade to ics with rsd 6.1.5 do you think if i downloaded an old version i could downgrade to a lower stock rom?
Also I honestly had not looked for the cdma roms since most of what i saw was troubleshooting related for this phone but i just saw this rom -AOKP 4.2.2 (Android Open Kang Project) (CDMA&GSM) that you created - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293892
I re-rooted and installed that one and it looks great, just wondered how you got sprint to activate the phone or if you had done it before changing the rom? Also how would the prl and profile be updated.
Lastly the wifi wasn't turning on this time either, it did work initially when i got the phone so that has me stumped.

To downgrade to ICS, you need to remove some additional lines. See this post for more information on that.
However, you should be able to update the PRL on either stock ROM.
I think I said this before, but I will say it again. You need to do PRL updates, activate the phone, and get EVERYTHING working on stock BEFORE you flash ANY custom ROM. This is just standard practice - you don't want to put the cart before the horse! Get the phone working, then play with custom ROM's.
I then flashed other modems, versions of CM10.1 and no luck. I odin'd back to stock 4.1.1 and I am still disconnected to the mobile network. What do I do
Please Help

Same issue here. Had to restore to previous.
Check Q&A and Dev threads.
The .1 breaks data. Either go back to release, RC5 or go to Nightlies.
I went to nightlies and i'm working fine now. (and get the new features)
My problem is I flashed back to stock via odin and I still have no data, at all. It's roaming...Will attempt to reflash tonight.
Alright I'm on the latest OTA build, MF1 I believe, still roaming only. Where should I go from here, what should I flash to hopefully get rid of this. *228 doesn't work. *2767*3855# says my phone is not authorized to make this call, etc...I'm stuck.
Nevermind, I did a full reset and have all my data back. I'm on the latest OTA, can I root, unlock, and proceed as normal from this build?
