[Q] Rooted but not unlocked - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my device using an app from an old guide long ago. I am still on stock with no custom recovery or rom so basically rooted factory ice cream sandwich. I did one Asus update and used ota root keeper to keep root. Now Asus has pushed me the jellybean update envied I'm not sure the best way to go about rooting and such. The only caveat is I might sell and not sure if I want to unlock the boot loader or not. Should I? And if so which guide do I follow? Thanks all.

[Q] getting rid of root for offcial upgrade?

the official upgrade is gonna arrive next month and i am going to upgrade my phone. i unlocked my phone using HTCdev unlock and got it rooted using superoneclick.Nothing else. But since the update would require a locked bootloader i had some doubts?
1. if i relock my bootloader using HTCdev then i will only loose root but not mess up my phone right?
2. and even if i do relock my phone, will i be eligible for the upgrade? or will it get stuck in a bootloop?
its only rooted no custon roms installed no nothing. i just hope i don't have to go through the RUU process for (to be eligible for OTA update) because its a bit daunting.
thanks for your replies and hope this hasnt been asked before
id also like to know how to avail official ics update.. and also how go back to original rom.. im on sense 3 custom rom..

[Q] How to keep the root?

Hi, my situation is the following: the Asus service point flashed back the 4.0 ROM upon my request, since I found the 4.1 OTA update buggy. Now I want to root the tablet with 'One-click' method, WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader (in case of ICS ROM it is possible if I learnt well).
Now my question is: can I keep my root rights if I flash the newest, .20 version factory Jelly Bean ROM, still WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader? If yes, how?
Thanks in advance!

Rooting my phone after updating to the latest jelly bean update

After updating my phone to jb what is the process for rooting? I am assuming i cant use the same steps to gain root access as I with the old software.
Someone posted a few days ago that no way currently exists to root htc one x att after installing jb ota. is this correct?
If you did the OTA without rooting first and using root keeper, you're probably out of luck. AT&T/HTC patch all known root exploits with each update.

You should have read the 3rd thread from the top: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181929
Unless you (as mentioned) were rooted and used OTA Rootkeeper, or had SuperCID + S-off prior to the OTA, you are screwed.
The process to root in that case, is sit on your hands and wait for somebody to find a root exploit.

[Q] How do you root the Motorola Xoom?

Ok, I found a few guides on rooting the xoom but they didn't say which version of android it is, anyhow the one that I am trying to root is running jellybean 4.1.2, and it is the WI-FI only (MZ604) Plus, how do you unlock the bootloader? I also want to know how to fix it if it gets bricked, and how to fix it in a bootloop also how to unroot it in case if I need to send it back with warranty.

[Q] 9.30.1.XT926.VERIZON Bootloader

I purchased the phone brand new thinking it would come with the very first firmware so I wouldn't run into this issue.
Well. I'm scratching my head debating whether or not to send it back.
I have successfully obtained ROOT using Towel-Root. But I'd really like to unlock my boot-loader!!!!
I have Googled everything I could think of, watched NUMEROUS videos. But no one else is running 9.30.1.
I have read that if I take the OTA update to 184.x.x then I would be screwed with ROOT and boot-loader.
Am I missing something? Or is it not possible to unlock boot-loader on 9.30.1?
If it's not possible, is it possible to use fastboot to flash Cyanogenmod to my XT926 without custom recovery since I have obtained ROOT?
This really sucks. I just upgraded from an XT907 running 184.46.15 and was upset because I could not gain root.
Can I update to newer android OS and still obtain root on my XT926?
I've done it!
Download the 183.46.10 update.
Use RSDLite 6.1.4 to flash the update.
Towelroot to root.
Motopocalypse to unlock bootloader.
PROFIT.
