Hi, my situation is the following: the Asus service point flashed back the 4.0 ROM upon my request, since I found the 4.1 OTA update buggy. Now I want to root the tablet with 'One-click' method, WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader (in case of ICS ROM it is possible if I learnt well).
Now my question is: can I keep my root rights if I flash the newest, .20 version factory Jelly Bean ROM, still WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader? If yes, how?
Thanks in advance!

I just got a TF 700 and it already had Jellybean installed. Can I safely root it without downgrading back to ICS first? If so, how?
read the rooting jb thread in general?

You could, but you need to UNLOCK your device (this void your warranty).
Hello!
I bought a Transformer Tf700 the other day and stupid as I was ( It seems ) updated it to JB before unlocking the bootloader and rooting the device.
So I have been searching around the forums, but it seems that there is no way to actually Root a JB device that did not unlock the bootloader in beforehand.
So my question is can I root&unlock the device?
The guides I have read only tells me that I can only root & unlock from ICS and to Downgrade to ICS ( from my understanding ) I need to have the bootloader unlocked... Witch makes this a vicious circle, so from what I have read its not possible to downgrade to ICS with out unlocking bootloader. And I can only unlock the bootloader on ICS.
So does anyone know away that I have missed? Or is it just happy waiting time for me ?
Best regards
Zibbr.
You still have to downgrade, but you don't need to be unlocked. Just download the .30 firmware, pop it on an SD and it will notify you to downgrade. Also, the unlock tool still works on JB if you still wish to unlock.
I recently bricked my device and had to do this, so it's certainly possible. I'm not unlocked just yet, but people say the unlock tool does work.
EDIT: I just used the Unlock Tool and can confirm that it works with Jelly Bean just fine...now to hope I don't regret unlocking!
Is there current development on trying to get NV Flash up and running on the JB Bootloader?
NvFlash for JB TF300T ??
I've seen various answers and I'm still confused. The Wheelie / NvFlash tool set only
operates on unlocked stock ICS if I understood correctly. I'm guessing there is a
way unlock and flash ICS complete system (like the OOBE)? That would have the
ICS bootloader and ROM that Wheelie needs?
One of the posts replies said reverting to ICS was simple (I think it said a 10 min process)?
I thought locked devices could not go backwards? I'm guessing, again, the poster was
referring to an unlocked bootloader on jellybean?
My intent was to use NvFlash to low level backup the pad, If I understand correctly I need
to be unlocked and on ICS for the tool set to work? Is that correct?
I currently am on JB, never unlocked, with root from OTA Rootkeeper, after update to JB.
Is there a path for me? Is a JB solution possible?

Ideally, I'd have preferred not to unlock, as I really only need root for various root apps.
I do not like ASUS's warranty rules regarding unlocked devices. I understand the
reason for the idea, for firmware / software induced issues, but true factory
defects have absolutely nothing to do to firmware / software issues. Mechanical
failures should still be covered. Blacklisting is really bad policy.

There is no way for NVflash if you are already on JB bootloader.
As far as I know noone is working on this to get it for the JB bootloader
Think I found my answer:

=(
So sad...
Note: Link is specifically for 700t, but the same applies for us.
Hey I've had my tablet since release and have been updating it incrementally as the updates came out while progressively watching the Android Dev. section for progress on the custom recoveries and custom ROMs.
My question today is, how do I, if it's possible with any current rooting method(s), root my TF700T? Do I still need to use the ASUS bootloader unlocking tool or is there an alternative that doesn't use their unlocking tool?
Thanks

You can downgrade to ICS, then root, use OTA RootKeeper, and apply incremental updates via the dlpkgfile method (manually applying OTA updates). There is a thread somewhere on this forum that explains how to do it, just use the search function.
Yeah I've seen that; I was just curious if there was anything else that I may've missed.
Thanks for your response
My old Razr HD has been broken for a couple months so I recently ordered a new one. Now I've heard that there's been a KitKat update for the phone as well as a new bootloader unlock method as well. Can someone tell me if I'll run into problems flashing a backup of my old phone, that was running a 4.4.2 rom since before the 4.1.2 bootloader patch , onto my new phone, which will have stock 4.4 kitkat with unlocked bootloader.

some confusion needs to be cleared up before i can answer that (im easily confused )
you unlocked on the original exploit and were running a custom rom?
assuming yes, what was the highest stock software you ever put on the phone?
assuming JB, you would only be able to restore the nandroid if the new phone was unlocked on jb.
assuming KK, you would be able to restore the nandroid directly to the new unlocked kk phone.
if i need to assume some more reply, and i would be happy to help.

Yes I unlocked on the original method and ultimately ended up flashing a KK rom. So I guess I can flash my backup without problem on my new phone then once I unlock it. Also, is the new unlock method as easy as installing two apps as I read? Is there an updated Razr HD Utility/ Droid Toolbox I can use, I think I saw someone mention them but I couldn't find updated versions.
EDIT: I found the updated Razr HD Utility but I'll probably just use your guide instead. Thanks for the help!
