Info on San Disk 32gb Class 10 Micro SD card ERROR - General Questions and Answers

Hey, I am new to the community and am trying my best to stay quiet and not annoy anyone, sorry if I've done anything wrong concerning this thread.
I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i - rooted and flashed with a Boudzdroid custom ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949867
I recently bought a legit 32GB micro sd card from San Disk on amazon.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandisk-Ult...KLEK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356218932&sr=8-2
However, in trying to use it I have encountered problems and been unable to discover a real solution from xda, or from general internet searches. I have seen on threads in xda in specific areas for my model that the following sd card works fine for other users with the same model, however I have encountered these problems:
- Causes my phone to get laggy, and frequently crash
- Phone says card may be damaged and might need to be reformatted
- phone does not read card despite saying 'media scan completed'
- I need to reinsert card multiple times, before getting lucky and phone finally reads it, however once read the sd card suddenly manages to get
'unread' somehow
I have tried a 'rescan sd card' app, but it still takes me a ridiculously long time before card gets read. I have formatted it but it has had no change in the problems. Unfortunately due to the policy I am unable to return it.

Did you format it with a PC?

SD Card help

(if this is in the wrong section I apologise)
This isn't a problem for myself, I'm trying to help my brother's girl
Basically, when her phone has the SD card inserted, it says its unmounted yet it won't mount. So, tried plugging it into a PC with an SD adaptor and it doesn't even show up...
Is there a way to fix this or is this SD card busted?
Thanks in advance

The fact that you cant even get the card to show up as mounted in Windows is not a good sign.
Was there important stuff on there? If so, you could try one of the SD Card recovery programs. I've used them in the past, but if you cant even get it to mount in the PC, they are probably not going to work.
But, to me, it sounds like the card is busted. Do you have another one you could test the phone and adapter with? If not, try and exchange it if it isnt too old.

Tried putting it into another phone and its still showing up as Unmounted with no option to remount it.
All that was on was a few music files and other assorted useless junk

What's her SD?
Some fast and high capacity micro SDHC are damaged I don't know why. I tried once a Patriot 32gb class 10 and it got broken in about 1 month of usage. The same occurred with a Sandisk 16gb class 10. Don't know if it's an app that is causing it. Now I'm using a Samsung 16gb class 2 normally. The broken SD were recognized in Windows as RAW partition.
I tried some Fixers without success. You may try them.

Take a look at this too:

Just a note: Most android devices only allow FAT(32) partitions. NTFS shouldn't work.

Micro SD Card Issue

im having an issue all of a sudden where the external sd card wont delete anything i tell it too. i mount it to the computer and delete things that way and copy things on but when i disconnect everything is like it was nothing happened.
also formatting it in setting via storage did nothing all the files are left in perfect order
Ive even mounted to the computer, formatted in MY COMPUTER and it says its completely empty. Then i unmount it and guess what nothing was touched. can someone please help
I take that back even deleting within my files does nothing.
I just stuck in my sandisk 16gb class 4 and it isnt having any issues so it must be the 32 gb sandisk class 4 is the card messed up?
I'm using it with a skyrocket and im on skyics with the latest base. I'm posting here because this card has been in many other phones and never had an issue till now
pwnerman-
Reading your description of the issue .. have you tried physically removing it from the phone and inserting (either by adapter or multimedia slot as most computers have now-a-days) directly to your computer ?
Meaning .. have you tried doing this without it being in the phone ?
Yes .. I snapped at you in the thread and I apologize .. with all the BS going on in there, more and more people are getting on edge.
My answer in the thread also stands in regards to how the card is formatted. I honestly do not know your experience with computers .. thats why I threw it in there.
I have a Sandisk 64GB card in my Skyrocket running Seans latest ROM .. only way I could format my card FAT32 was actually using a single command line program called "fat32format.exe" .. and with ALL of Seans ROM's, I have never had any issues with SDCards at all.
Here is my original thread about the Sandisk 64GB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1586295
I've done everything but attaching it directly to the computer because I have no adapter to do so. I bought one of the cheap dollar ones on Amazon a few hours ago. I've used that card in like 10 phones on triple as many roms and never had a issue till now. I do think it could be a Rom issue because the other Guy was having issues and this was the first time I did anything on the card since switching to the 4.0 skyics Rom.
I even put it in my captivate and it wouldn't even format in recovery mode. So I honestly don't know considering it wont work in the captivate either

[Q] My phone identifies the SD card and data on it, but few things are accessible

Alright, first let me start by saying that I hope this is in the right area and i'm sorry because i'm sure this question has been asked to death.
I have a Galaxy S 3 Running stock with android 4.0.4 (Not rooted)
I also have a SanDisk Ultra 64GB SDXC class 10 MicroSD card (Formatted to FAT32)
I have had the phone a month and for probably the first week I was using the card in the ExFAT file format...Then random card identification problems started to pop up. So I scoured the web for a short time and found that the issue could be solved by reformatting the MicroSD to FAT32 at the expense of not being able to have single files larger than 4GB. Everything worked for a good week, then suddenly the phone didnt know I had music on it anymore, my player stopped and i confusedly navigated through songs that weren't there. I removed the card and reinserted and the files worked again.
Well today the phone is doing the same weirdness again, it is identifying that there is in fact a 64GB MicroSD and the amount of data is correct. It is also allowing me to navigate to the files in ASTRO, even my PC still detects and allows me to Add/Delete files from the MicroSD...BUT my phone will NOT use it. For example, if I go to camera and want to take a picture with the destination being the MicroSD, the phone says "What MicroSD?", also my media gallery is empty (Save for the files stored in the internal storage) and my music player is empty as well.
Anyway, I didn't know what course of action I should take. Does it sound like one or both of these items needs to be returned/reformatted/smashed with a hammer?
I am not sure if the sgs3 supports 64gb cards, i suggest you first try with a 32gb card to see if it is a card reader problem or a mmc problem

If that's the case why does it state on all the North American Cellular phone websites that the phone supports "Up to 64GB MicroSD"? Seems crazy that such a large feature could be so buggy.

The GSIII (international and US) variants do support 64 gb micro sd cards. It's advertised on the box.
It sounds like your sd card is failing you. Definitely backup all your data to a computer and think about replacing this micro sd card via manufacturer warranty.

+1. Sounds like bad card.
Ok I will try that. My next question is when I get the new sd card should I format it into the FAT32 file format?

If you want recovery access must be Fat32. Otherwise does not matter.
Thanks for the advice my good man. I'll post an update after the (hopeful) free exchange.

[Q] Micro SD card problem?

My SD card is a bit bugged recently. Basically, the SD card won't do anything such as accessing photos or music. Also, I tried moving some apps to my SD card, but that resulted with a "CONTAINMENT_ERROR" or something like that. Also, when I try to download apps, it says that there are no space in USB or SD memory storage. I know this is wrong because I don't have a USB storage, and my SD card is 1/3 full, so how can I fix this? I think that I require a formatting on my SD, but that's a last resort, with all my info on it. If that's the only way, please suggest this with an explanation.
If this helps, I remember killing some system processes such as some sort of signing thing which I believe is what signs the apps to install onto my phone. Please help me out here. Oh yeah, I can text and call fine as well as accessing the internet and wifi. Anything involving my SD card such as downloads, however, are a different story. Got suggestions?
Have you tried a card reader on your desktop to pull photos and music from it? If so and cannot then I don't know what to tell you but if you can, pull everything you want off of it then format SD card

Yeah, I tried formatting, but it doesn't seem to remove any data. I can move files to my cpu, but when i move apps to my SD card, or at least try, it says [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_BAD_MANIFEST] Do you know what that means by any chance? The moving also says [INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR] too.

I would be a bit concerned that you can't format the card. Its a good sign that the computer can read the card but not good that you can't format it. See if you can try the card in another smart phone and if you have the same issue its just a problem with the sd card.

SD card not letting me add or delete files
I've been spending waaay to much time trying to get this phone to work as I had expected with previous phones (even my LG G2x) giving me less problems. I recently bought a Sandisk 32gb, class 10 micro sd card and after transferring old music, pictures and videos from my old LG G2x with a 16gb card, placing files from my computer back onto my S4 with the 32gb card is a nightmare! Photos are transferred but too out of order to try and deal with although it's more the music problem that has me bugging. I have some success after putting about 3gb or so onto the new 32gb sd card but after that, the sd card flips out and starts using special characters for file names.. Below I attached a screenshot of what I'm going through with another app called V1 Golf for Android. I'm stuck and any help is much appreciated. I can't delete anything on my sd card nor can I add. I've reformatted this card about 4 times now without success. Some say that a Sandisk have been nothing but problems for them, you think a Samsung card could be the fix?
I just have one question for you guys. Are you using a Galaxy S 4G or the Galaxy S4? If it is the latter, please take your questions
here for T-Mobile
here for Verizon
here for Sprint
here for AT&T
and here for International
as this section is for the Galaxy S 4G. Thanks and good luck.

[Q] Possible External SD card or reader problem

Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon SCH-1545 MK2 [rooted]
Twice now my device has failed to recognize my Samsung 64GB external SD card. When I installed it it recognized it. I formatted it and transferred my apps to it. I also set the install location to it via adb shell.
When it fails the reader doesn't recognize the card - the only option is "mount sd card" which is greyed out.
The first time I was able to adb and change the location to internal sd and reinstall the apps. At some point the reader recognized the card but all the space on it was free as if there had been nothing installed on it. I reformatted it and moved the apps over and it worked for about a month.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Solutions?
Thanks!
I definitely concur that you should ask in the forum for your phone, which this is not.
That said, how old is the microSD socket? Do you insert/remove your card a lot?
If so, it may be near its end of life. It looks like it is similar to the one in the SGH-T959V which is relatively inexpensive (~$15) for the repair part.
Josh over at mobiletech fixes then for about 40 bucks. I'm sending my phone in for a new USB port.
