SD CARD

Well I Clear SD MBR on my card in magldr113 after that my sd card is invisible on my PC or phone. Please help?!

So you could see it ok before?
Is it an SDHC (assume it is), does the reader you have it in, on the PC read SDHC, or SD only?
Is it the right format for the phone to read?

Yeap i see it ok before on my PC. I installed WP7 on my htc hd2 but he don't see it than i clear mbr
my card is Kingston 8gb SDHC. My reader don't see anything, i tried read card on another pc but the same. (sorry for my English)

No, my hd2 don't read this card after clear. Please help it's a new one.

Ok, this isn't uncommon and i have had this problem too.
Unfortunately, sometimes your card can be corrupted by the process of wiping the partition via magldr, it is rare but can happen.
However and more commonly, your card can be rescued by inserting it into a nokia N97 (or similar) Nokia device. You then simply ignore the password prompt, go into setting and format the card. You will then find your computer can recognise the card. It is the way early wp7 roms wrote the card that effectively locked them, you should not get this problem with later roms.
Sometimes you can be lucky and use Ubunto to wipe the card, but in my experience, use a Nokia (about the only good use for them!!!!). You can also use the app in windows mobile 6.5 if you know anyone who is still using wm6.5 lol

I got exactly the same. Is there no other way to fix it? I mean something what can be done on PC/MAC using card reader or by CWM?

I don't know about your SD card as I use a transcend 8gb C6, but I use yuki/xbox rom
As for getting both your SD cards working again, they are encrypted so you either have to use wm 6.5 and use format utility there or get your hands on a N97 or similar. No current utility for a pc or mac works as far as I know (bummer I know)

That's weird coincidence but my mother got N97, but when I put card into the phone it starts to behave really slow. Can you describe what to do step-by-step please?

Pop ur card in, goto settings and format card . It will ask you for encryption key, just ignore it

Try this..
applications--->file manager--->select what you want to format (mass/memory card)
--->options---->reformat

I've tried but it detects no card, weird thing. Any ideas? Probably card is totally broken.

If the nokia doesnt detect the card then im afraid its fried. It does happen, flash does not not an unlimited life span, even new ones.
Time to buy another im afraid, I can recommend transcend 8gb class 6, works fine with droid and wp7

So it somehow broke (during some actions in recovery). Thanks for your help anyway, it may be useful in future x]

The card has no filesystem/partition and thus your computer or android won't recognize it.
Reformat it.

Can't format my MicroSD

I can't seem to format my MicroSD from the phone, cwm or PC. I can't upload or delete files. Its stuck with my old files on it for some reason!?!?!?

There is no lock on it, its a microSD...
Funny thing is I tried every possible way to Format it and all show "format complete" then when I remove the card and plug it back it shows the old content again...

Well its a common issue apparently, contacted Sandisk and had my MicroSD RMAed. Now the thing is I don't want this to happen again, who might know why my Android locked my MicroSD? Is it the custom ROM, is it an app that grants read write access like Titanium backup? What could it be?

I've never had it happen to my San's lol try putting it in an SD adapter already in a locked position then put in unlocked position and place in computer

Try going to the micro sd folder on your computer and highlight all the folders and delete if you havent tried

I tried everything, had it RMAed now got a new microSD from Sandisk...cost me shipping so hope this doesn't happen again...

Every possible formatting way was tried. CMD, special software, through windows (quick and full), through the cell phone, directly through a microDS reader, different microSD readers, different computers.

sounds like u didn't low level format, to be honest. I less u specifically used a low level format tool or did this command from Linux:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda1 bs=1m
u didn't try everything my friend. none the less doesn't matter, glad u got a new one on the way

i have the same problem i format on my galaxy note plug in to my pc i format it change it to ntfs and once is finished 100% formated i un plug it out y plug it in and everything comes back like if it didnt happend what i did help

You have to RMA it there is no other way, it is locked for good. I spoke with SanDisk and that's what they told me. It happens allot with the 32GB microSDs when used in cell phones.

the same thing happened to me with my sandisk 32 gb class 4 card.
it wouldn't format or write any files to the card
but it would still read the files and copy them off the card without any problem
It was a very odd issue. Considering the card has a 5 year warranty i contacted sandisk and they said it was defective and they gave me a prepaid label to send it to them.
i told them it had personal info on the card so they said to snap it in half or drill a hole in it which i did. So I sent it in then the day after they got it they sent me a replacement. Why did you have to pay shipping? Everything was free for me.

Micro SD Card Issue

im having an issue all of a sudden where the external sd card wont delete anything i tell it too. i mount it to the computer and delete things that way and copy things on but when i disconnect everything is like it was nothing happened.
also formatting it in setting via storage did nothing all the files are left in perfect order
Ive even mounted to the computer, formatted in MY COMPUTER and it says its completely empty. Then i unmount it and guess what nothing was touched. can someone please help
I take that back even deleting within my files does nothing.
I just stuck in my sandisk 16gb class 4 and it isnt having any issues so it must be the 32 gb sandisk class 4 is the card messed up?
I'm using it with a skyrocket and im on skyics with the latest base. I'm posting here because this card has been in many other phones and never had an issue till now

Reading your description of the issue .. have you tried physically removing it from the phone and inserting (either by adapter or multimedia slot as most computers have now-a-days) directly to your computer ?

Yes .. I snapped at you in the thread and I apologize .. with all the BS going on in there, more and more people are getting on edge.
My answer in the thread also stands in regards to how the card is formatted. I honestly do not know your experience with computers .. thats why I threw it in there.
I have a Sandisk 64GB card in my Skyrocket running Seans latest ROM .. only way I could format my card FAT32 was actually using a single command line program called "fat32format.exe" .. and with ALL of Seans ROM's, I have never had any issues with SDCards at all.

I've done everything but attaching it directly to the computer because I have no adapter to do so. I bought one of the cheap dollar ones on Amazon a few hours ago. I've used that card in like 10 phones on triple as many roms and never had a issue till now. I do think it could be a Rom issue because the other Guy was having issues and this was the first time I did anything on the card since switching to the 4.0 skyics Rom.
I even put it in my captivate and it wouldn't even format in recovery mode. So I honestly don't know considering it wont work in the captivate either

[Q] SD card just died

I've had a 32 gig micro SD in my phone for a while now. I recently took my Siii out of my pocket only to find that it says the SD is unmounted. Odd, but not unheard of in the world of custom roms (paranoidkangdroid 2.something, rather recent though, 4.2.2 JB) So i do the sensible thing: Run into the storage menu, and lo and behold, its not registering. I pop it out and in, not registering. I reboot, and the damn thing still isn't registering. Then I take an old 2 GB micro SD and try it. This one worked just fine. 32 gig however does not. I move to my PC. Pop it in a micro to regular SD adapter, and the computer doesn't mount it. It does mount every other microSD of mine though. So can anyone tell me what the hell happened, and how I can recover my stuff?

Actually you can't, your sd card is corrupted and it's known to happen with this device that's why I always keep a weekly backup on my computer with everything. Especially the ones ordered from amazon the high capacity ones as far as I've seen.

And now its not. This is frustrating. I don't want to spend money on a new card dammit.

Try booting a linux live cd and see if you can save anything, thats how I recover deleted tomtom maps in the past.

Is the SD card damaged or can it just be reformatted with a card reader on a PC (fat I am assuming)?
I was about to start using an SD card to backup the internal storage. It doesn't sound like this is the best option and backing it to my PC would be better.

My set up to start was cleanrom 6.2 with envy kernel running fine for a week. I had my sd card disappear today twice. PNY class 10 32gb less than 2 weeks old from best buy. Popped it in my pc and it was recognized no problem. So I transferred my data, formatted in fat 32 popped it in phone, no problem. Transferred data back and was Ok for a few hours. Swapped my battery for a freshly charged one and upon boot, phone said the card was damaged, to reformat it. So, I pulled it out and popped it in my pc. Pc said card was damaged. I opened a command prompt and ran a chkdsk /f and it fixed an issue with the file system. I then proceeded to restore my cleanrom 6.2 backup. So far so good. I am thinking it had to do with an app, but I can't be sure. Upon googling this, it seems that some people have had an issue with external sd cards with this phone.

I'm not sure exactly what brand or model you have for your SD card or when you purchase it. However if its a SanDisk and it was purchased before December 2012 there's a chance that it was part of a bad batch. I had the exact same problem with mine I have a UHs 1 32 gig SanDisk. I read somewhere on the internet that there is a known problem with SD cards from that company built before December. When I spoke with SanDisk they confirm that and said the newer batches have been corrected. Long story short if you're using an ultra high speed or for that matter any card by SanDisk call up there customer service explain to them the problem and they will send you a brand new one. The entire process took about a week for me.

Did you try my suggestion? Ive recovered numerous files using a linux live cd and/or a mac. Try putting the card in a network printer or mem card reader if linux and mac os isnt possible. Ive recovered my files, including those from a 16gb micro sd card, using those methods in the past.

Okay, so it works
Alright alright, i didn't expect this to get many responses. Anyway, it now works. It appeared to be fried, my mac, PC, ubuntu machine, and OG droid wouldn't even recognize that a card was inserted. Nor would my GS3. My solution? after turning it on and off a few times, I just left the card in it and set it aside for an hour. Lo and behold, it now works. The SD now works. It was fried, and is now unfried. I don't know how, I just guess I am lucky. Or aliens. Either way, I am happy. Not gonna jeep anything more than music on it though... Ah well, thanks for the help XDA!

If I were you, I'd back up everything on that card to my pc, and exchange it if under warranty. If not, chuck it, and purchase another card.
Not worth taking the risk again.

So I have had my sd card corrupt a few times now, so far this has seemed to help me recover my data.

I read about the SD problems after just getting the S3.. decided to get a different brand card from the store.

[Q] Micro SD card problem?

My SD card is a bit bugged recently. Basically, the SD card won't do anything such as accessing photos or music. Also, I tried moving some apps to my SD card, but that resulted with a "CONTAINMENT_ERROR" or something like that. Also, when I try to download apps, it says that there are no space in USB or SD memory storage. I know this is wrong because I don't have a USB storage, and my SD card is 1/3 full, so how can I fix this? I think that I require a formatting on my SD, but that's a last resort, with all my info on it. If that's the only way, please suggest this with an explanation.
If this helps, I remember killing some system processes such as some sort of signing thing which I believe is what signs the apps to install onto my phone. Please help me out here. Oh yeah, I can text and call fine as well as accessing the internet and wifi. Anything involving my SD card such as downloads, however, are a different story. Got suggestions?

Have you tried a card reader on your desktop to pull photos and music from it? If so and cannot then I don't know what to tell you but if you can, pull everything you want off of it then format SD card

Yeah, I tried formatting, but it doesn't seem to remove any data. I can move files to my cpu, but when i move apps to my SD card, or at least try, it says [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_BAD_MANIFEST] Do you know what that means by any chance? The moving also says [INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR] too.

I would be a bit concerned that you can't format the card. Its a good sign that the computer can read the card but not good that you can't format it. See if you can try the card in another smart phone and if you have the same issue its just a problem with the sd card.

SD card not letting me add or delete files
I've been spending waaay to much time trying to get this phone to work as I had expected with previous phones (even my LG G2x) giving me less problems. I recently bought a Sandisk 32gb, class 10 micro sd card and after transferring old music, pictures and videos from my old LG G2x with a 16gb card, placing files from my computer back onto my S4 with the 32gb card is a nightmare! Photos are transferred but too out of order to try and deal with although it's more the music problem that has me bugging. I have some success after putting about 3gb or so onto the new 32gb sd card but after that, the sd card flips out and starts using special characters for file names.. Below I attached a screenshot of what I'm going through with another app called V1 Golf for Android. I'm stuck and any help is much appreciated. I can't delete anything on my sd card nor can I add. I've reformatted this card about 4 times now without success. Some say that a Sandisk have been nothing but problems for them, you think a Samsung card could be the fix?

I just have one question for you guys. Are you using a Galaxy S 4G or the Galaxy S4? If it is the latter, please take your questions
