[Q] Phone does not react to charger/power - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

My phone was perfectly fine today, I used it all day without a problem. the battery was at 2 percent so I turned it off until I had access to a charger, about five minutes later. I plugged it in and no response; no vibration, no battery charging animation, pressing power button doesn't do anything, holding power button doesn't do anything. Tried taking the battery out while leaving the charger in for a minute or two, then reinserting the battery and immediately hitting power (per someone's instructions I found on an older thread) and same deal, no response. Tried letting the battery sit out for a few minutes and then put it back in, plugged the phone back in, no response. I have not recently dropped it or spilled anything on it or anything like that. I'm running a cm10 nightly from a couple weeks back. I've tried three different chargers in four different outlets, as well as trying the two that had usb connectors in different usb ports on my computer. Nothing. I have no idea what's going on, I was texting my friend and playing words with friends, that's about as intensive and complex my usage got today. I don't have any weird kernels or undervolting or overclocking or anything like that, just cm10 with a few core apps and one or two games. I'm really f****d if my phone won't work, I'm currently out of town for a few months so now I have no way to really contact anyone. I'm really hoping someone reads this and knows what the hell's going on, the threads I was able to find about people who had a problem similar to mine were resolved in booting into download mode and flashing a stock rom via odin..but of course I can't get into download mode, honestly it seems like it must be a usb problem because my computer doesn't recognize it and it won't charge anywhere. I would seriously appreciate anyone's help right now.

Don't write so much. No one will read it. Take a deep breath, take the battery out, take 3 deep breaths, put it in. Let it charge 15 minutes, it'll seem like a life time. Should work after that.

If you are trying to get into DL mode by just hitting the power button it won't happen. lol Try this. Pull battery, plug phone into usb cable, plug usb cable into computer, hold volume up AND down, reinsert battery. That will bring up DL mode. Report back if that works or not to further diagnose the problem.

Pulled and reinserted battery, let charge for an hour or so, still nothing. Also, no download mode.

Have you tried a different usb cable, cleaned usb port on phone? Pretty sure battery is just dead but could be faulty power button....

Take the phone to a PC plug it in hold the power button and see what device manager says

If you can't get into DL mode via my instructions above it could be your battery or the USB port. If you can take the battery to a store and have it charged. Then boot up and plug it in. If you still get nothing your USB port is most likely shot. A good repair shop can swap them out fairly cheap.

This happened to me once. After freaking out for a couple hours it finally started to take a charge only from the wall mounted charger. it has never happened again so I don't know what caused it or why it finally started to take a charge.

Well thanks for the advice guys, I think it's probably my battery. I took it to the att store today, they hooked it up and told me that the phone has no water damage but the battery apparently does. I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with the usb port because before they did their diagnostic such and such they told me it was most likely either the port or the battery..so I can only assume the usb port's fine. Just ordered a new battery per their advice, figured I'd go with the extended 3850 mah with the larger cover included. Never bought an extended battery so I guess it can't hurt to try one out.

[Q] Did I brick my phone?

So I rooted and installed leo rom and it was nice. Wanted to try the neon pyramid rom, installed and all was fine.. I noticed though it seemed as if the battery wasnt charging like it did before. So I chose to let it discharge all the way down to 0 and re charge. All was well, until I went to plug it into the charger and now I get a blinking orange light for a while, then it just turns off (no light.) The phone will not turn on and the only light i get is when i first plug it into the charger it blinks maybe 20 times and thats it.
Are there any tricks I can try to wake this thing from the dead? What should I do?
Any help is appreciated, I need my phone back!
Why did you post this in the Sensation forum? You seem to have a Nexus S, see your signature.
Back to the problem:
What happens is you remove the battery, put it back in and hold the volume down button and power button till you see something...does this work?
This is a known problem and can be easily remedied.
Basically, on some Sensation's, the custom recovery img (CWM) doesn't let you charge when the phone is completely discharged.
To correct this, follow these steps:
Take out the battery and put it back in
Plug in the USB cable to charge the phone
Leave it for an hour or two
Come back
Unplug USB cable and try turning the Sensation on. If this doesn't work, take out the battery and put it back in. DO NOT plug the USB cable back in.
You may have to do this a few times to get it right. For more info, look at this thread.
Hope that helps
I must update my signature...ive got both, but I get nothing when trying to boot to the bootloader

Tried a couple times, ive got nothing, is there something i am missing?
Ok, the above method did not work, HOWEVER I found another thread and tried it.
I cut the usb cable open, and connected the positive and negative to the leads on the phone, inserted battery and it powered on, now I am charging and good to go. Whew!
Thanks guys!

[Q] Need some help

Hey guys. So to "cheer me up" my buddy gave me his G2x because his service was discontinued. In attempt to use it i tried to turn it on. wouldnt turn on. So i figured id charge it. When i plug it in, the LG sign comes up, but then disappears after 2 seconds of being up. I figured, oh **** the phone is bootlooping. It bootloops so fast that i cant even turn on the phone in recovery. Im thinking the phone might be bricked, since its "dead" and is bootlooping. Any suggestions? I dont want to throw away a perfectly good phone.
When was the last time the phone was charged?... you might need to charge it a little longer... then try to turn it on... battery was probably drained completely
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
If you only gave a slight tap on the power button, that will happen. Try pressing power button for 3-5 secs.

when the phone charges, it boot loops while it charges. So i dont even think its charging. I charged it over night, and it still doesnt have power unless plugged in. I feel as if the phone is bricked. But i highly doubt its rooted in the first place. Suggestions?
Sounds like maybe the mini-usb connector may be damaged and its not actually charging the phone could explain why its in and out of power and screen. Try maybe holding it still and pressing the power button for about 3 sec. Other than that id try plugging it in on the pc and see if that makes a difference.
welp. ill try that. maybe itll work. See all i need to do is boot into recovery. and im straight.
i just did what you said, same thing.
Do you think im experiencing the sleep of death?
Did you try removing the battery and putting it back (after few seconds) before attempting to switch on?
This is considerably worse than sleep of death. What's happening is that the phone, for whatever reason, isn't storing the electricity. If the problem happens even with with battery completely out of the phone, the problem is probably in the usb port. You might have to take the phone apart and replace it.

New battery if it isn't holding a. Charge... A voltage meter or switching it out can tell you.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Well, I honestly think its more of a software issue. Since the bootloop is sooo short, the phone doesnt have a chance to charge. thats what i think is whatsup. But im not sure.
Weather the phone is on or off it should charge. Charging with phone off is a bit faster. As someone suggested the USB port may be bad or it may be a bad charger itself.
So how would i be able to get a usb port? just order it online? easy install?
Well its attached the actual mobo of the phone so some dissecting and a soldering gun is in order to replace the usb port

WHOA WHOA WHOA before you start soldering your phone (lol) try flashing CWM on it with a computer. and even before this try different usb/wall wires and different usb chargers. perhaps your charge is too strong or something like that.
anyways try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
more importantly see if you get stuck at the part where, after removing the barrery, you hold both volume keys and plug in usb to pc and see if the pc detects an apx device or w.e. if it does then the problem is (probably) not usb related.
if after flashing CWM it STILL DOES NOT WORK then try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
this uses your PC to flash an entire rom and everything. stock recovery rom actually
what friend he is, sending you a brick LOL
oh and this goes without saying but you DO have a g2x right?
I like that apx idea. That would determine if it's USB related. Only thing is, if it's not detected that could mean a bad USB but it could also mean just a ruined motherboard.

[Q] Bricked

So my infuse's bottom touch screen buttons, (search, home, back, and menu/settings) stopped working randomly, it was just a matter of me checking my phone for texts while walking around and the buttons were dim, so I restarted the phone 4-5 times to try and fix it, but nothing helped it.
So I put the phone in download mode and tried to get it back to stock using odin. But it froze at cache.rfs for half an hour so I disconnected it. I got the phone ! pc screen from this point on and my phone was still being recognized by my computer at this point as well. I called it a night and left it plugged into my computer until the next day, I tried a different USB port in the morning after I installed samsung mini kies for drivers (even though it was already recognized) and tried using odin again. Again, it froze at cache.rfs so I unplugged my phone and now I can't even turn it on to get to the phone ! pc screen. When I hold down the power button now though, even with my phone charging, nothing happens. I tried power button + volume button too, and nothing happened. It can't even be recognized by any of my computers either. What do I do now? I have warranty on it through AT&T but I'm not sure what their terms are flashing and stuff. (Luckily I did a backup on my phone before flashing )
I had similar problems with Odin freezing at cache.rfs. I tried three USB calls and they all did the same thing. I then tried another USB cable at my work and it flashed the uclb3 unbrick like a champ. My guess for your situation would be a bad USB, try another. Hope that helps

Ok, it's plugged into another USB port but again, it doesn't even turn on to show me the phone ! pc screen. I do notice that when I hold down power, for a split second after a few moments of holding down the button, there is a flash coming from the right side of the screen. Until I can get it recognized on my computer I think I'm at a loss.
Sounds like the battery is out of juice. You'll need to charge it or put a new battery in before you can get back to download mode.

Wouldn't you agree though that I should be able to boot up with it plugged into a charger?
update:
almost 12 hours later of charging my infuse with various chargers and cords, I still can't even get a samsung logo. Just a black screen with the occasional white blip on the right side while I hold down the power button. Looks like I"m without a phone for the time being. I have insurance on it so I"ll take it to the AT&T store asap. If worse comes to worse, I might buy a galaxy nexus hehe

Not if its bricked...its the kernel that allows the phone to charge when its off...so you'll either have to try a battery only charger (whereyou take out the battery and put it in a square charger thing...one that doesn't charge it through the phone/USB) or just buy or borrow a new battery
And when a phone dies you have to plug it in and let it sit for a little while before you van turn it on again

Ahhhhh, thank you for that good bit of info. I never thought that the power to the battery was governed by the phones kernel. Do you know where I could buy one of these chargers? After posting this I'll do a google search myself, but just in case.
Thanks very much.
Edit:
Ok, so after I get some juice into my battery I should just try all unbricking steps again?

[Q] Inspire not powering on

couldn't find any info so i'll see if i can hopefully get some answers
been running my inspire using Existz's ICS rom via the ace hack kit. no problems. i went and picked up an infuse 4g and decided to use it. so had that rooted and running. yesterday backed up everything on the inspire and removed the sim and sd card started using them in the infuse. was still playing games and such on the inspire. here's were things started to act weird. plugged in both phone on the wall charger and powered off the inspire. well it kept rebooting in recovery. i'd go down to power off and it'd come back on. did this maybe 3 times and then finally stayed off. today went to show a friend that was interested in it and it would not power on. no led light, nothing. plugged it in and still nothing. put in the spare battery and no led light or anything. tried to put it into recovery, nadda. put the sim and sd card in thinking it may make a difference, nope. so i'm not getting any power.
any help is appreciated.

I have no idea about that...but send an email to HTC to see what they tell you...
Try letting it sit and charge for a while second try to boot into hboot. I'm assuming that you rooted your phone so going through HTC for repair is not an option. I had a similar issue I ended up booting into hboot and then flashing a stock rooted img and starting all over with my phone.
Since your computer recognizes the device, did you try to send it a reboot command via adb?
Sent from my Inspire 4G running AOSPX-BR7
No I did not. Not sure how to to do it that way, but I'm sure I can find out how.
After reading a couple threads where people have had the same issue, I left the battery in it and placed it on the nightstand. It started to vibrate a few times and when I hit power I get a solid red led. Will have to search and see what that means.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
It sounds like it could be a bad battery. Given the red light, what has me wondering in the vibration prior to you pushing the power button. It almost sounds like the phone shutting down from low battery, but you said it wasn't on.
Sent from my Inspire 4G running AOSPX-BR7
Just a little note on Android phones. If you let them die completely they will not charge the battery from a PC or computer of any kind. The ports on a PC only provide 500ma max and it require at least 1 amp to charge a dead battery. That can only be accomplished by the wall charger that was supplied with the phone. If you are using another charger make sure it says on it that is can supply at least 1 amp or 1000ma any thing less will not charge a dead battery. Also note if the battery is completely dead, then the phone will not charge any way. The phone has to be able to power up and load the OS in order to charge. Androids use a software based charger that does not know how to charge unless the phone can boot and preload the the boot part of the OS. You may need an external charger the battery alone can be placed in or buy a new battery as they will usually have enough of a charge to get you going.
As the previous poster said, it sounds like you have a bad cable from the beginning and all you did is discharged it completely. Get a new cable and try the wall charger. If that does not work then spend 20 bucks and get a new battery.

well i have 2 batteries, 2 different plug adapters, 3 different cords and a car charger. tried six different ways charging from a wall adapter and flip flopped batteries as i changed cords and plugging it into the car charger. each cord and the car charger works with my infuse and worked with the inspire that day. battery was at 3/4 when i plugged it in. i guess could try a new batter, but i'm doubtful.

oneplusone phone dead

So I had a extreme low battery alert, where it said cannot boot until more charge.
Stuck the charger in.
Battery wasnt going up.
Now it wont turn on at all with charger in or out.
So looks like either the battery is dead (non swappable) or the usb port is broke so isnt accepting charge.
Wow the phone is only 2 months old.
any ideas? or has to be returned for repair/exchange?
luckily was only using this phone for testing roms and stuff, not daily driver.

Try plugging into charge on a low power source via USB like a PC or laptop. Anything that isn't direct to a mains socket. It can help slowly replenish the battery, just leave it be for a while.
I just had a similar experience where my phone died overnight. Plugged it into my non OPO charger that I used with my older blackberries.
It wouldn't even turn on after 20 minutes of being plugged in. I decided to use a charger that outputted more energy and it immediately turned the phone on.
My advice, try using different charging sources.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
I recently had this problem. Solved it with a simple google search which brought up O+'s own help page. Press the power button for 20 seconds 5 times in succession. This simulates a battery pull (there will be a vibration) . Now plug the phone into the original charger and leave it for a couple hours at the least.
You could also try to disconnect and connect the battery. For this you have to open the phone. Here is a little tutorial https://youtu.be/xLB4fhOyvuA
Hope this will fix the problem.
Same thing happened to my sons 1+, This is the reply form CS
Regarding your issue, please try with below steps:
1) Keep the phone for 12 hours without touching and charging...
2) Charge with official charger and usb for 6 hours(after the above mentioned steps) and then
3) Pull off the usb and put back again ... and you may get a LOW battery screen again staying for 4 / 5 mins...
4) Now don't try to boot or anything.. let it charge for 1 hour or more.
5) Now finally boot your device by pressing power button for few seconds
6) Phone should boot normally...
Trying it now
