Originally, I wasn't intending on buying this to keep... but I got owned by the refund time limit, so now I'm stuck with it.
Things didn't go entirely wrong though; things actually went astonishingly well!
Of course getting navigation to work with this would be easy because that would just be a stoic virtual joystick... but the in-battle commands would end up being a bit more complicated since menus are placed dynamically.
After messing around with FFDimensions for a while, I noticed that the in-battle menu navigation was operable via swipe-motions, which allowed me to create a GameKeyboard profile that works not only with on-foot navigation, but FULLY in battle! This is just as good as being Xperia Play Optimized! GKP is in the attachments, and I will probably be posting a video shortly.
EDIT: Video

very nice! I'll be trying this out.
Got owned by time limit refund...that made lol....game looks really good but dam 20 bux...crazinness yo!
I imported the gpk and nothing happens in game when keys are pressed. Am I missing something?
You mean the game for which they dare to ask that much does not even have native XP controller support? That's insane.

How about FF3 do you have a Settings for that?

Final Fantasy Dimensions just force closes when i try to open it on my Verizon Xperia Play...
Edit - It works on 2.3.4 gingerbread perfectly. It also works on ICS/Jelly Bean but the sound skips or pops. It doesn't work on 2.3.3 Gingerbread which is what I had installed when I tried it the first time.
I'm sticking with 2.3.4 since I don't use this phone for anything other than gaming and therefore don;t care about gmail/gtalk sync.

After loading the profile, what do i need to do to get this working with a ps4 controller?

Ok guys i hate to bother you with this again.
But I keep reading posts where people talk about how awesome FF VII, VIII and IX run on their android phones with FPSE but i cant for the life of me get either one of them to work good enough to be playable.
I got the latest version of FPSE and ive tried different settings, overclocking, different ISOs and all that good stuff, but I have yet to find the right settings to make the games work well enough for me to want to play them xD
Of course i can get them to run, but either the sound is just plain bad, or the menu is invisible while fighting, or the resolution is just really crappy.
No matter what i do the quality of the FF games is really bad on FPSE.
I am really sorry to bring this up again, but if anyone is getting good results with FPSE please share some of your knowledge with me
Not fpse, PSXperia.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201532
Works on 2.3.3 only
This will make ff7 run to perfection

Confirmed working for me
This post was brought to you by:
xperia play, xda app, gingerbread and SwiftKey x
just wondering, how does PSXperia handle games with multiple discs?
No idea what to do, I've read that on the PSP, you had to merge the discs into one .ISO, but again, no idea how I go about doing that... bleh
Aw man I had hoped there would be a way to improve FPSE's performance. Im really enjoying the new CyanogenMod. Works like a charm.
So only way atm to actually play PSX Games is to go back to 2.3.3 stock and figure out how to work PSXperia right?
yap.
As for multidisk, just extract the save file folder in sd/android/data/sony.ps.ncxa_70001 (Disk 1) and put it somewhere safe, then put in Disk2 data file, and put the safe file in there. It should work the same
If your using Cynanogen7 then maybe you can download PsPocket?
uhm where could i download pspocket? oO and what exactly would that do for me?
I'm assuming cm7 doesn't have It, so you can use it as an alt to fpse

Same here. SAME SPECIFIC two games also: i played through 1/2 of FF7, and 3/4 of FF9....both were extremely playabale! Maybe a stutter here or there....but still had an awesome time playing them
I found it works better if you leave all video settings default, Don't use any of the frameskip options... Video had a higher fps for me this way. For better sound, enable it under Audio settings and make sure the .cue file for each game is in same folder as the .img/.bin files for that game. Hope this helps
Err ok ill have to give it another try. Thanks for the tips guys.
OK sorry guys, but I'm having some issues xD I can't figure out why the sound isn't working on any of my ff games its like all the effect sounds are bugged. Like when you find an item or so it's just a single beep instead of the whole sound... I'm using .img files.
Anyone got similar problems?

Hmm my game-files seem to be faulty then, cause the sound is unbearable xD.
What's going on guys? I just started another thread recently but its for good reason!: I just got my Xoom and I'm trying to pimp it out to the most baller degree...
I'm a huge video game nerd and I've been DREAMING about connecting my Xoom to my HDTV, and playing Final Fantasy from my couch using my Xperia play as a controller.....
But, alas, as per all things both technological and amazing, it is not usable for me upon installation and minor tweaking....everything connects and works OK but the buttons are extremely laggy and only every other button press registers....as a result I can't really play games or do anything with it.
I know its not that the port isn't open because if it was closed then it wouldn't work at all right?
And I'm currently using the EOS ICS ROM and it does not seem I can use the wifi direct feature.
Anyone have any ideas as to why its so laggy and what I can do to rectify it??
thanks so much in advance....once I fix this I will be truly ecstatic.
Btw if there are any apps that would allow me to use the hardware keys of my Xperia for my Xoom whether by Bluetooth or something that would be helpful too. But from the ones I've used you can only use the touchscreen....
final fantasy work in an emulator? if yes the problem is of emulator. try it in others game to see the difference.

Thanks Zulu! I can't wait to start having fun with this awesome app.

I don't have it, it is $5.04 in the app store. I just emailed the developer to ask if our Xperia Play controls will work with this. The Videos on Youtube look awesome (Playing WoW and others) But I don't want to shell out the cash if the only option is onscreen controls.
Thoughts???

Hi Rob!
Yes it should support the XPeria Play but I "hardcoded" values for buttons like (cross/triangle/square/select/start).
I will try soon (< 2 weeks) to add an option that you will be able to set a specific action like (spacebar, d, control, ...) for each buttons of xperia.
I add your request in my backlog. I've received feedbacks and now i'm fixing bugs and add new features.
I will release a new version (Kainy 1.01) this Sunday .
Best Regards and thanks for your comments, suggestions and post on XDA,
JS.
Definitely going to buy this. Been waiting for this for a long time.
Does the pc need to be switched on for this to work?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Yes, the PC will have to be switched on. The way it, if I understood it right, is that it streams the video to your phone and then adds controls on your phones screen.
I am very interested in this app and the idea. If the analogs work and the gameplay is smooth even over a 3g network as advertised then I'm on it. I am just curious how that would work and if there is be a demo to try.
i emailed the dev.
and wow,fast response.
i'm asking about the internet minimum requirement and the plus value than another diff remote app.
here is the answer:
For the Local Wifi is really fast. You should get a 30-60fps depends of your phone and computer.
And for the internet connection, there are 2 mains factors, your internet provider for upload (computer->internet) and your phone download bandwidth (internet->phone).
I have a really low upload connection at home. So I optimized the software to be able to work at 0.5 mbps for "internet mode".
And if the speed is too low, I've created 4 types of quality image between low->high quality.
I think the plus values is customization like you can customize your games and they keep the settings.
So if you customize Skyrim, after customize wow, and come back to play skyrim, you'll get skyrim settings.
And each applications has 5 pages, so you can only put minimal buttons and switch pages.
I definetely want to buy this app next month, still wait my salary pay off.

Imagine you are not at your computer right now, so boring and want to continue playing Mass Effect 3, Darksiders, PS2 games, Dreamcast games, Gamecube games, Wii games through various types of emulator etc.
While sometimes I'll leave my laptop at the first floor and kind of wanted to play PC games downstairs at my sofa or far...far..away from my home. It's very usefull. It's like your own ONLIVE system. I have use this kind of thing before with PSPDisp. But it's limited to WiFi connectivity. But Kainy can connect using WiFi/3G/4G...Wow!!!
I see, not much of a point for me since I wouldn't keep the laptop on probably but useful for others

Like the author said, it's for gaming desktops mostly...
Most laptops lack the power of a desktop...
Laptops are made to be carried around, so why bother replying?

There are already several methods of doing this and have been for quite some time.
This allows you to remotely play games on your PC

I would love to see an advert version of this, I want to try it so bad but I just can't pay for it. Plus, I saw something about a laptop as I skimmed through this, try an older game. The ONLY reason why I want this app is so I can play Grandia 2, since the Dreamcast emulator for Android hasn't come out, and the PC version is SO low end, I'll be playing once I remember how I got it to run on XP. Stupid Win98 only titles. lol
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that The Conduit actually does work on the Xperia Play. Since the first two levels are free to play I decided to download it (from a third party as it's not available for R800i on Google Play) and discovered it really is optimized for Tegra 3 but not exclusive to it. Unfortunately there is gamepad compatibility but you can adjust some graphical parameters, which help the game run smoothly on the device. Combine that with a GameKeyboard file and...
Anyhoo just thought I'd let you know
Yup, this game runs on pretty much any device. Xperia Play owners can download it from Google Play if they edit their build.prop or use a device spoofing app. I had to turn the graphics wwwaaaaaaayyyy down because i'm not overclocked.

Yeah, mine is overclocked, forgot to mention that!
I played the Wii version few years ago (pretty decent game). And when I read the title of this thread I never thought that was the same lol
Good find dude
Just tried The Conduit HD for Xperia Play. I found that it's partially Optimized. Could we expect a complete optimization when it'll come out? Who knows...
Video:
youtube.com/watch?v=NOFLP6Qo1hg
Hate to be a downer, but it's only working because the Xperia Play shares some of the same button bindings as bluetooth controllers, not because of any kind of optimization, partial or otherwise. Maybe in 6 months when it's no longer Tegra 3 exclusive they may do that, but our phones are old enough as it is.
Now what would be nice is if someone developed an app that allows the Plays touchpads to emulate bluetooth controller analog sticks rather than the cumbersome setup with gamekeyboard, which is great but not ideal.

If emailed gamekeyboard dev I would of thought he could enable this option as he already has (touchscreen to Bluetooth controller natively with analog input) but would still mean you would need ICS or above.
