i am wanting to find out how to manually switch my rom to the lastest version of jelly bean. i cant do it through settings because my phone has been flashed so i will have to do it through a SD card i suppose. Can anyone give me step by step directions on how to do this manually. it has not been unlocked or rooted unless they did it when they flashed it over.... i also want to go to straight talk with my phone it is the verizon version galaxy s3 sch-I535. I know you cant get good data but it has to be better than what i flashed too. So i need step by step instructions for that too please and thanks

step 8 says it is going to take me 5 hours to download
It took me over an hour. I don't know what else to suggest on that. Let me know if you have a problem downloading it.

well since it said 5 hours i left and just came home from friends house and it said i didnt have anything to view it with to see if i could find something online so i downloaded a thing called pareto logic file cure because that is what it recomended well now i cant find it to open it so i am currently redownloading it while i go to bed maybe it will work in moring.. thanks for your help

Odin was download # 2. That is what you will use to flash the phone. The md5 file is the stock jellybean image. The phone will have to be in Odin mode and then attached to the pc via USB cable for it to work

ok so you are saying i can use odin to open the jelly bean copy image? when i try to open odin it comes up and said odin3. and some korean or something... and it tries to open but then closes and i tried running it in different compatibility modes and even as admin. and it still wont open.. what to do.. i downloaded it from the site you gave me.. im in the USA if that makes a difference lol

it is definately the correct version of odin. did you extract it first? and are you selecting pda and then pointing to the md5 file? dont extract the md5 file only extract odin.

ok i got odin to open. but when i try to open the jelly bean file from where i downloaded it, odin wont put it in the pda area like it is suppose to... it says over in the oms message board that the md5 hash value is invalid...
ok so my other reply is now gone some how and so is yours about it is he right odin. i got odin working but i cant get odin to open the file i saved.. do i need to save it or hit run when im downloading it.. i assume hitting run wont aloow odin to open it but i dont know. which do i do..

you dont run the md5 lol. it will have to be saved to your pc. after it is saved you will open odin and click on pda. and then select the md5 file
also is there anything i need to do before installing the straight talk sim card so that i an get talk and text and the fastest internet yall have found so far....

i am really smart with computers. i have a computer degree in micro computer repair and networking. i just dont want to kill my phone so im crossing all my t's and dotting my I's .... if you can explain it i can do it... thanks for all the help so far... p.s. why dont i have a thank you button below your name so i can hit it

i believe i can root it. i just about did it but i want jelly bean first before i root it ... isnt that the correct way of doing it or does it not matter
congrats on getting jellybean installed via odin. turns out it wasnt your fault, it was due to a crappy internet connection that caused several bad downloads in a row.

did you clear the caches and format factory restore, then flash? are you able to get into recovery again? Not sure if that would be the correct way or not, but just wondering what steps you did.

ok, so did you use the Windows Phone 7 usb image downloader? Also the thing you are trying to flash, what all files did you choose or was it just one file. Im just trying to better understand. I think since you can get into download mode that you are still ok. Also it sounds like you are trying to flash back to stock att?
Also there should be 4 files that you are flashing with the program from my understanding. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642126
At that link i posted at the very bottom has a poster by the name of hackarchive and he has a link to his skydrive account that has a video tutorial. you have to left click on the video to get it to download. I hope this helps and keep us updated

still same after flash phone turn on and Samsung logo comes and gone like its blink here is pic for flash after few minute phone just stuck on Samsung logo

Hi i flash with 4 file what video show i download from the link who made this video it can flash fine but just stuck on Samsung logo
I may just be talking crazy, but i think i read or seen in the video where it says that you do it 2 times. back to back. Like after you flash it, then go and select the exact same files again. kinda like in the video. Dont close the program just yet after flashing, go through each of those 4 and select the same files again and flash. not sure if you disconnect the phone tho, i would try it both ways. I think thats why that video was made to show that you reselet the SAME files again, instead of hitting flash 2 times without selecting. sorry it took me a while to respond back

under section 5 of that guide there is a section titled "*Flashing a Stock Radio with Odin or a Custom Recovery"
I'm a noob at this so I was just wondering if that part is necessary to Odin back to stock in order to be able to return my phone to verizon. I'm rooted and have a custom JB Rom downloaded so I'm just trying to get my phone back to stock in order to update JB OTA and then return my phone to Verizon but I don't know what "*Flashing a Stock Radio with Odin or a Custom Recovery" means so I didn't know if this is part of the process. thanks!

All you have to do is flash this using Odin and you'll be back to stock Official VRBLK3 4.1.1. That file is on the xda thread you linked. It will wipe all of your data and lock your bootloader....it also flashes the radio. If you've used odin before this is probably a 10 minute process....very easy.

I already did step one and downloaded Odin and the Samsung Drivers deals, then I downloaded that gigantic 1.2 GB 4.1.1 file, now all I have to do is steps 3 4 and 5 and I'm golden? Do I have to or not have to do that "*Flashing a Stock Radio with Odin or a Custom Recovery" part? Also, where does the Samsung Drivers file come in? He never says anything again about them. No problem. I know this stuff is confusing until you've actually done it. Samsung drivers are only so that Odin recognizes your phone. I'll post the steps as I remember them. Open Odin, click the pda function (and check the box) and select the giant file you downloaded, put your phone in download mode (power off...then volume down, power and home at the same time..this puts you in download mode). Connect your phone to the pc....wait till it says connected at com port ....whatever. Click start....wait until it finishes...10 minutes. Your data will be totally gone and you will be stock JB. You want the Odin file you flash to be Official VRBLK3 4.1.1. Just as a reminder, THIS WIPES YOUR DATA SO BACK UP ANYTHING IMPORTANT.

ok thanks but quick q. it's still not saying connected and it's been a few minutes. It just says "Leave CS...." would it be safe to unplug my phone and shut down odin and try again or what do you think I should do? Thanks

Take the battery out then put it back in then hit the volume up button the home button and the power button all at once.Go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik then reboot.See what happens

Hey guys i just check and samsung kies are supporting samsung galaxy s4 now ( i got att version). Can someone who have softbrick phone try this metod : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984717
1. Start Kies, They can be find HERE
2.Click Tools-> Firmware upgrade and initilazation
3.Type in model of your phone for example AT&T is : SGH-I337 ( all in capital letters) click OK.
4.Then type serial number off the stcker under battery also in capital letters click OK
5.There will be info about firmware click OK
6.Info about software version. Put your phone in download mode then connect to PC using orginal USB cable, click OK
7. Follow info on screen.
8. Phone will reboot by itself when all is done correctly.
To try this you need to be able to put phone in download mode. I just restore my S4 to factory settings using this metod. Let me know..

This is good news. I mentioned kies for softbricks back when the root method first surfaced but it didn't support the phones yet. Now that it does, Maybe Sammobile can make the stock firmware available. Just because the bootloader is still locked doesn't mean development can't begin before the unlock method is revealed.

hmmm wonder why mine didnt connect gonna reinstall kies and reboot maybe just a fluke

How i fixed my bricked SGS4 back to factory
1. Start Kies

When i connected my phone (at&t SGH-I337) to pc and run kies. Also i check if Firmware Upgrade and Initalisation is working so i backup my phone and did whole process. My phone restart and get back to what i get from store.

yeah i just wrote what i had to specifically do like the update of kies and it only worked when i was in download mode to begin with it was finicky

now we can mess with system files, csc, change build.prop to try wallet! (I not home now, so I can't confirm if kies restore works or not)
i mucked up mine earlier I was messing with Framework-res, Cause no matter what I change in SystemUI for the stupid AT&T 4G icon at the top wont go away I want the STANDERED ones like on the international one, I was able to put the systemUI from the n7100 note 2 on my AT&T note 2 but not the same for this phone

Working on that now, kies is downloading the firmware right now, So I HOPE it does...
Doesn't work for me. Kies downloads the firmware then nothing happens....Kies freezes up and that's it....I'm running the latest version of Kies and I'm with Rogers SGH-I377M.

Try to use SGH-I337m instead of M. This is how it works on SGS3. BTW are you sure your model is SGH-I377M not SGH-I337M?
Also Kies doing this some times. They freeze even for 10-15 min. Just wait.

Check your model name. Make sure you are SGH-I337M.

Mine worked fine with I337
I'd appreciate any help to get my phone working again. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and I'm hoping I haven't completely ruined it...
I'll try to recall the exact steps I took to get to this point:
First, towelroot wouldn't work to get root due to me accepting the OTA update to 4.4.4 android. So I found on a forum post that you can use Odin to flash the stock kernel and then towelroot will work. So I downloaded the stock kernel and flashed it successfully using Odin. Towelroot was then able to work with success. After that I installed SuperSU and busybox. Then I was using this guide (URL omitted due to forum rules) to install SafeStrap recovery as I'd read CWM recovery didn't work for the G900A model (AT&T). Safestrap seemed to install OK and when I rebooted I was able to get into the SafeStrap software interface. From there, I attempted to flash the CM12 nightly build to the "stock rom" slot (I'd read there was some trouble using the non-stock-rom slots in SafeStrap). That operation completed with success, but when I tried to reboot, it froze at the CM12 splash screen. I tried this with a few more custom ROMS and they all do the same thing (freeze up on boot logo / splash screen).
I've tried using Odin to flash back the stock firmware. As long as I didn't try to flash the bootloader (BL) Odin shows "PASS". However, when it reboots it again hangs on the Samsung splash screen.
So at this point, I've flashed all stock firmware to the phone (except BL) and it freezes and then goes black screen on the Samsung splash screen. Also, it no longer shows the SafeStrap "recovery / continue" bootup screen since I flashed the stock firmware.
Any ideas on how I can get back to a useable device?...

"odindownload.com" will install a LOT of MALWARE (270MB) but NOT ODIN!!!!!!!!!!
Download ODIN (1MB) HERE
Original stock firmware (safe and tested) can be downloaded HERE
Connect your phone in "DOWNLOAD" mode (Power off and then press "Vol down + home + power" at the same time)
Open "ODIN" and select the downloaded firmware as "AP"
Press start (Progress will take about 10 minutes)
Phone will be fine again

I downloaded from odin.com that and fixed my brothers note 4 and all three of my virus and malware detecters didn't go off

Go for some working AV.
Avast internet security rings alarm.
And the installer itself looks quite suspicious lol

When I tryto flash the PDA file I downloaded from @lsxD 's link with Odin I get the error "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1"

Googled the error. Solution is to flash the firmware with PIT file. Only problem is that someone has to give you a working pit file.

I'm still stuck... I'm just looking to get back to a usable device. I really don't care if it's a stock or custom rom at this point. Any help is appreciated.
I tried flashing with the full firmware package I downloaded (4.4.2 G900A stock firmware) which included a *.pit file inside one of the tarballs. I used the PIT/re-partition option and everything succeeded except it still freezes at the Samsung boot logo.
Anyone? I'm getting desperate here...

Looking not taht good. I tried my best with no success May be at this point or in some days in case no one here is able to help you, you could think about checking ebay for "bootloader repair" should be about 40$
Okay so to start my name is lars. ive got a sprint galaxy s5. rooted on NE5 and then moved on to CM12.1 for awhile. now im trying to flash back to stock with little to no success. i tried flashing the stock OA6 (latest firmware) and i get <ID:0/006> FAIL! (Auth) and it says [aboot] Fused2 > Binary 1. no success. and i know that error usually means im trying to restore a firmware that's older than the current installed but its newer. i then tried to restore NE5. no luck. i can still get into recovery. but i cant flash touchwiz roms. any advice would be great. this isn't my phone its a coworkers and i feel terrible about the situation.

also i can boot cm 12.1 if i reflash it. it will not boot into touchwiz based roms at all. (recovery is still functioning)
This may be a dumb question, but you are going into download mode for Odin, correct? I ask only because you mentioned recovery a few times but not download mode.

It sounds like you may need to repartition the phone as well. I may be wrong though

Yes I'm working with Odin in download mode. and how can I reformat without a proper pit Filw I can't seem to find one anywhere
I'm not sure, I've never had to do it. I always just use the full tar file. I wish I could be of more help.

yeah and that's what i'm using. the full OA6 tar and it rejects it because the phone thinks im trying to downgrade the firmware which makes no sense unless the boot-image is somehow corrupted but i thought it was all hard-coded into the boot-loader it self so im not sure. but thanks for the response non the less..
Maybe you have a bad download. It might be worth downloading it again.

its not i just restore my phone from cm12.1 to stock OA6 via odin with the same download. so its not my computer, usb cable, or download. its something to do with my coworkers phone. it just doesn't make any sense.

I may be wrong, but the filename of the tar in your screenshot isn't anything I've seen. Why don't you try downloading and odin'ing the tar from this link:

yeah that's what i downloaded, that's the file-name that extracts from the executable. i just gave up. flashed cm12.1 back on his phone. the only issue is his GPS is not working even after flushing GPS cache and re-downloading and waiting 24 hours still no luck. thinking about sending it in for warranty replacement and see if they make me pay the deductible.

Have you tried to factory reset, erase all data, caches, and format the system, then boot into download mode reflash your proper firmware!?
That was the 3rd thing i tried no luck I've tried evening i can think of. It's got to be a hard ware issue
I'm having the same exact issue. I know my flashing abilities I've flashed dozens of different models. My problem was this phone was on lollipop 5.0, I wanted to root it then use custom roms. As soon as I flashed, and used a proper bootloader/rom etc. Im stuck at the samsung logo screen. I have recovery capability I can flash roms there, but not through odin at all. 0 success. I've download roms from sammobile, xda, other sources all same issues.

try to flash the ne5 tar in odin then see if it will boot then flash the latist firmware from sam mobile sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900P/SPR/ download both tar files from here.
surprised that noone else has mentioned this, ive had very similar errors and then tried different usb cables. I know its a small percentage shot, but ive fixed same/similar issues with my good old trusty blackberry cable from 2006

Someone with a G900P, and on the new OD3 bootloader, can dump the debrick.img as follows with Terminal Emulator after granting root access and send to you:
busybox if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=4096 count=50000
Then:
Flash this Debrick file to your 16GB Micro SD card with Win32DiskImager by
*Insert your Micro SD card into your computer (backup any information you may have on it we are going to ERASE, FORMAT it to ex FAT
*Open win32DiskImager
*Navigate to the location where you downloaded the correct Debrick file
*Select your Debrick file by double clicking on it
*In the upper right corner of Win32DiskImager you should make sure that the drive letter assigned to your sd card is selected.
***Which ever drive that is listed will be erased, formatted
*Click write in the bottom right hand side
put the Debrick SD card in the Phone, Pull and Replace the Battery
Plug phone in usb and boot into download mode
yout phone should boot into download mode then flash stock firmware via odin
