I am experiencing random reboots with my Inspire 4G. My phone will reboot regardless if you are using it or not.The reboots can be as far apart as a couple of days or as frequent as 4 times a day. I am running a stock Gingerbread OS.(AT&T) The phone is not rooted. The phone is as stock as possible. The only apps on the phone are the ones that are pre-loaded by AT&T. I have changed the battery with a new OEM HTC battery. I replaced the SD card. I have also replaced the battery door.
I 've been reading related posts but most of them don't apply to me since my phone is not rooted or using a cooked ROM
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well how long had you have this issue was there anything you did in settings?
If I was save what you can from your sd card

I don't have anything on the SD card. I have not down loaded any apps or music.
the only thing I did in settings is set my wall paper, theme and power save options

Ok, I had this same problem. What you need to do is root your phone with ace hack kit, then install the Rom Virtuous Affinity. (and don't install taptap revenge 4, my phone rebooted all day)

Nick beat me to it, but he's right you can install any rom it will depend on you and there is no best one out there.. Some recommend ones that I would say are good would be:

OK the best advice would be to go back to at&t and have them check the phone with the possibility of getting another one if they can't fix it. Makes no sense rooting the phone when you have issues with it unrooted. Hate to have you root it only to find out that not even a custom rom resolves your issue. At least now your still under warranty if you root you lose your warranty and at&t will blame you for the issue cause you rooted phone.

The rooting process does not affect the phone in such a way that the rebooting will occur. Try wiping the battery contacts or just take it to AT&T for control....if you have a hardware issue, then it won´t be solved by a custom rom...
Edit: NEW QUESTION
I DIDN'T MAKE A NEW POST THIS IS JUST AN OLD POST
9/19:
i was using my p500 during the day. works. i switch it off for a few hours. then i switch it back on. it says cannot detect sim card. I tried many different roms same thing. I verified that i do have v20g baseband installed and I have reinstalled baseband too.
I swear it was working several hours ago... I tried everything i could think of(except kdz... don't want to go there)
this happened while i was on paranoid android. it was working just fine until today. I flashed cm7, miuigb, miuiv4, jb, cm9 all same result
Format and make a new ext3 and then try restoring.. maybe then it might work!!
Found another backup from before I was using s2e
Restored as much as I could
installed amonra
Hope it doesn't come again

I think it's a hardware problem because if you were on old bb it would recognize the sim card but wouldn't receive any signal
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Check if other sim are working on phone. It might be possible that your sim is old and not working anymore. Just get a new sim.
Also dont forget to check the sim terminals on phone.

I have this same problem, but it happened to me after I had lost my IMEI and then manually injected it myself. I've ready tried reprovisioning about 3 times, but to no avail. I didn't do anything with the IMEI except back it up using the terminal emulator and the "reboot nvbackup" command. Not even sure if it did anything or not. How do you reprovision the phone? What does that even [claim to] do? A google search shows a lot of people complaining about this. I hope someone comes along and helps too.

If you reprovision, it will wipe all your data and such. Idk if you wanna try it. I only tried it because someone suggested it, but it was pointless. So, if you were gonna try that, you would want to nandroid backup first. The way to reprovision if you're interested is dial *2767*3855# that'll do the trick for you. I hope someone comes along to help as well. After a while some fix usually comes around. Just gotta be patient sometimes

Interesting. I wonder what the reprovisioning actually does. I didn't flash CWM yet since I'm running the stock bootloader, and it is locked. I heard that unlocking the bootloader can cause trouble if an OTA update changes things on it.

I would suggest that you just download ROM Manager from the app store, open it up, and at the very top it will say flash clockwork mod recovery. Hit that and it should be a done deal. Let me know if you have any problems

About data/signal issue, that's not your IMEI. It more than likely is your sim card. I had to get 2 replacements from Verizon due to a weak signal. Another simple thing to try is to be sure data roaming is ON in the settings menu, and restart. That is known to work. Rooting prob did not cause this to happen, the S3 has signal issues to begin with. Do not start running scripts to attempt to fix without going through the verizon fixes first. Stay on stock rom, hide your root apps and bring in to get sim card. They won't check for root.
Plan B is to call *611 and speak to someone, they can push a signal code through to fix. Don't say your rooted!

Oh but we shall see what happens when I change towers. To compare, and diagnose this issue, how is your phone setup. Mine is as follows:
Purchased at: Small business authorized reseller
Contract: On contract
Purchase date: 9/5/12 (opened a new account, not adding a line)
OS/ROM: Stock 4.0.4
Rooted: Yes
Bootloader: Locked (had it unlocked temporarily to see if I could do it, but I relocked it to diagnose the data issue)
Recovery: CWM
ICS Encryption: Not turned on (I don't think I can use it now that I have CWM installed anyway)
Apps that run at boot: Call Recorder by Skvalex
Root apps installed: SuperUser (duh), Rom Manager, CallRecorder, Terminal Emulator (used it to execute "reboot nvbackup" as a supposed IMEI backup method)

So far all I've done is "reboot nvbackup" to supposedly backup my IMEI, but I have no idea if it did anything. I'll double check data roaming, but I don't want to rack up a roaming bill. Also I don't have to worry about my store finding out if I root. The sales guy helped me root it before I even paid for it.
The guy I dealt with helped with root questions for me too at actually vzw store... Funny! Sim should do the trick. And yes, that script you ran backed your IMEI correctly, so it's not that. Data roaming is to see if it improves issue, if it does, your having network issues that are not phone related. There is no reason to keep that option on unless your lost in the woods and need data!

Yea I just ran the unlock app and it showed as unlocked. I apparently am still rooted as well. I thought I would have to root for sure. Hopefully now any custom ROMS I install will show 4G.
Any time you do a factory wipe, all you do is delete all the data and settings, but it doesn't touch the kernel or bootloader, so if you have a custom rooted ROM and you factory reset, you will still start up into a rooted custom ROM, but with all blank settings/apps etc...

Hi,
I recently sent off my skyrocket to get fixed to mobiletechvideos. I got the power button replaced(for I had no time to fix it myself) and got it back today. However, my phone will not even read my sim card. I am using a micro sim adapter, since I had to change it over when I got my previous Lumia 900. I think the adapter is fine( I hope so) and I cannot see why it is not reading it. If anyone knows a solution or if I should report back to whoever fixed my phone then I will, but is there a common issue i'm missing?
Much thanks!
Will be watching this thread as I am having a similar issue. however I didn't have any repairs to my phone, just stopped reading the sim card this past weekend for no good reason lol
Get a new sim from att and try it.
Update:
It shouldn't be my sim card, I'm using it perfectly fine in my Windows Phone. The issue is baseband says unknown. I spoke to Josh at MobileTechVideo and he said to restore it back to stock with odin, I did and it did not resolve the issue. Anyone have a solution?

I don't think it's the SIM card either. Even without a sim card you should still have a baseband. Have you tried that? Before you returned to stock did you have a custom Rom? If so did you try flashing a radio?

No Baseband at all, I did, however, following the previous posts, I sent it off to MobileTechVideos to get the power button fixed, came back with the sim card not being read. It has had the baseband unknown since then. I called them and by their recommendation I should flash it back to stock, which contained a modem.
