[Q] in over my head - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought my first tablet for the family, tf101. Heard about multiple users through jelly bean so why not? should have just used swtitch me after root and called it a day.
been going at this for 3 days and countless googling so now time to post something and ask for help. I rooted successfully yesterday so today I planned to go into JB 4.2.
When I rebooted into clockworkmod and chose to wipe data/factory it goes to formatting /data and sits there.
I have rebooted and get asus screen all day long. I help up on my volume and power to try to figure out this apx mode stuff but windws just says is looking for drivers. I cannot get into the tablet at all besides clockword and all it says is unknown volume for path sdcard
im stuck...please help...stock is better than doesnt work for christmas

You might want to try via TWRP recovery instead of CWM. I have had, as well as many others quite a few issues with CWM and the TF101. Again I am not bashing CWM, I just found that it caused or was linked to several issues I had.

I agree with MasterDecker, use TWRP. I have switched from CWM and found it to be so much better.

Not sure if its bricked...

Hello everybody. Bought slider101 us... 8.6.5.18 Successfully rooted with Razorclaw. Superuser installed.
Didnt have a chance to flash CWR.
Tried to update through asus notification that i got on my tablet. At the end of update it said something like "failure to update",but it changed to 8.6.5.21 on my tablet. After that tried to install recovery through" recovery installer", couldnt do it. I guess I lost my root on my tablet because of that update and Razorclaw doesnt work with .21 I did try to fix it through ADB commands which led my tablet to non stop rebooting. Cant load a screen after ASUS logo. It keeps rebooting.
The last try was this Nvflash "Unbricking and forever root" but when I hit download batch file it disconnects me from computer and looks like APX is disapearing on Device Manager place.
Cant load to recovery cause didnt install it. Tried to find sollution ,no luck so far. im not sure if its bricked. Thanks for any help in advance.
Update: problem fixed-- somehow could get into the screen where i could wipe data, I think it was system kind of recovery. And then installed nachoroot, cwm recovery, android revolution super wipe and ROM. Works perfect!
I belive you're not supposed to update when rooted.

There are a few NVflash methods to unbrick devices here. You should read them all in general thread and development thread and see which one suit your slider101. And when you find one, please try different PC to do it. Some PC just act strange but some would give you profit..

Just for future reference, what steps did you take to fix it? It was my understanding that nvflash does not work for the Slider at all.

I think it wasnt really bricked, it just couldnt load main desktop screen. Its stucked on ASUS logo.I managed to get into system recovery screen where u can see "wipe data" and i think an image of droid man. So by pushing volume down and turning it on u can see that screen, and u need to point onto "wipe data" little green square by pushing volume up right after Ive read something like "cold boot" written with small white letters. And then it started to wipe all data. After that it could boot to the main desktop screen. From there I rooted with nachoroot since I have 8.65.21. Razorclaw can root up to I think .19.

HELP! Did I just make my phone a $600 brick??

I just got a new Verizon S3 about a week ago and a few days ago I followed the instructions in the Original development section to install the CM10 nighties. Everything was working great but just a little bit ago I tried to upgrade to the newest build through the clockworkmod rom manager that was installed with cm10 but now when I restart the phone just constantly boot loops. It shows the samsung screen followed by samsung screen (but with booting recovery at the top) and finally the android dude for a few secs then just repeats! How do I fix my phone! Or did I F**K myself good?

Can you get into recovery (volume up + home + power) to try flashing a previous rom download or restore a backup? If that doesn't work, you'll probably need to Odin your way back to stock or stock.root66 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709)

I tried installing from downloaded rom and that did not work ether. I down loaded the odin and the Samsung drivers but the drivers don't seem to be installing right. The phone shows up under devices and printers but has an ! on it. I tried telling it to update the driver by had but I got this error:
Code:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it
SAMSUNG Mobile MTP DEVICE
This device cannot start (Code 10)
I have the device booted in to recovery ClockworkMod Recovery because thats the only place I can get it with out it continually restarting. we all learn somewhere. funny how thought of a brick gets people researching more than they normally would, right? lol, all been there
Upgrade your recovery from cwm touch to cwm 6.whatever.it.is. Cwm touch is buggy. I don't know how exactly you do that if it's not booting to the rom but maybe this can help point you down the right path.

Downside of all the one click this and one click that. You should be required to root at least once using odin and adb before having access to the one click tools as you may end up needing those down the road.

If you really don't wanna take the risk you can just delete it all with Titanium Backup. But hey, if you really want to, go right ahead. Just do a little more research before you jump in. We've all been there, though, so don't feel stupid.

Correct. Welcome to the stock recovery.
Quote from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212 :
1) Download the latest firmware from Asus site
2) Extract the .zip file somewere on your desktop (the result will be another .zip file, use it for step 3)
3) Rename the extracted archive to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP" (without the " ") and upload it to a MicroSD card
4) Insert the MicroSD card in your tablet and use this button combination to Power ON and go to recovery --> Start the tablet by pressing Volume Down and POWER togheter for 5 seconds ,a message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter the recovery, press Volume UP before the 5 seconds expire.
At this point the device will go in recovery and should start updating your firmware .

did you recover your tablet? I mean, when the flash process finished did you see all your apps and configuration as it were before you got stuck on fastboot?
I got the SoD in locked stock situation yesterday while i was installing documents togo from the android amazon store.
I coud not start the tab, just got a black screen or the asus logo freezed animation every reboot. I try to reflash but I couldn't. (I dont try to rename the zip file) i just got stucked on recovery red triangle. So I did a wipe and reboot, but same freeze booting (oh god...) so I try to reboot and reboot and then it boots correctly. Then I got my tablet clean without data.

[Q] Only asus bootscreen, no recovery or boot - Is it Bricked?

Good evening all?
Ive unlocked my TF300T a year back and had been running Cyogenmod 10.1 on it for months, all worked fine.
As a recovery i had CWM installed and it worked like a charm as well.
A week ago i saw Cyogenmod 10.2 was out there and i wanted to switch the recovery to TWRP (i installed ver 2.6.x.x) and tried the new Cyogenmod.
It sisnt work so i wanted to switch back to 10.1 and CWM.
I dont exactly know what i did but in the end even the vol down and power button menu doesnt work anymore.
The tab turn on now and shows the Asus start screen but doesnt boot up.
Also when i press vol down and the power button it doesnt load the boot menu where i can install a new recovery and install the old Cyogenmod.
When its powered on i cant even turn of the tab, it keeps turning on for a few minutes in the Asus logo screen and than turn off and on again... till the battery is empty.
Did i brick my tablet ?
Are there any ways i can try to get the original software back?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers !
Marty

I think i didn't...
At first i just unlocked the device, installed recovery CWM and after a version (januari 2013) of Cyogenmod 10.1 wich was Android 4.2.2 and kept the Cyogenmod 10.1 up to date every few weeks... Thats all i did till i wanted to install Cyogenmod 10.2 (Android 4.3)
I can't recall updating the bootloader myself, could have been with an Asus update or something but i think i din't do it myself.
CM changed to the updated PITs when Asus updated first.
best solution would be to flash latest stock, boot into it once, flash twrp2 (2.6.0.0 works for me atm) then flash cm10.2
here is my summary
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44244313&postcount=12
hope it helps
and no, i don't think you need to send it in for repair - it sounds more like broken PIT's so mount and boot points are not being recognized anymore.

More details will be needed before someone can help. What had you done right before it acted up? What rom do you have in there ATM? Can you post a picture or tell what's on the initial screen (the one before the boot animation)? Did you try volume down + power? If you did, what did the screen show?

I rooted my device using the method shown on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228613I
, the ROM is stock and the screen before the animation is normal (white Asus text). I have tried volume down and power and from that screen, I reset my tablet. This didn't solve the issue, before this started, I changed the boot animation and changed fonts. I think it was while restarting after the font change that it stopped booting properly.

I gather by "reset my tablet", you meant you cold booted it by selecting the android icon. This being the case, you can always reflash the stock ROM with fastboot. Depending on whether you had 4.1 or 4.2 bootloader - 4.1 has 4 icons including a USB icon which if clicked, will make the tab enter fastboot/download mode; 4.2 will enter that mode automatically as you press volume down+power - you need to choose the right ROM you want to install. The initial screen should tell you which bootloader on the top left corner. 4.1 matches stock Roms commencing with 10.4.x.xx; 4.2 is Roms with 10.6.x.xx
I've flashed a 4.1 ROM (104220) on a tab with 4.2 bootloader by means of an external SD card without problems. However, to be safe, you should flash whatever version you'd had before the incident. If you already have data on the tab that you care to keep, you shouldn't touch the wipe date icon. If you need a link as to what to do, read this one. Good luck.

[Q] TF700T Stuck on Android Wipe

Hi,
I recently installed a deodexed Stock Rom, and I'm pretty sure I used CWM to do so. (I haven't touched this tablet in about a month). Today, I was in the process of doing a factory reset, through the actual OS Settings, and now it's stuck on boot. It gets past the ASUS start screen, and gets to the screen with the Green Android robot, with the Blue spinning cog thing, like when you do an update or wipe.... but it will not go past this screen. If I hold power and left volume, it just goes back to this same screen. Vol+Right, brings up APX on Windows when connected with USB, but I don't have any saved blobs. What are my options at this point? Is this truly bricked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now that cryptic statement makes me curious! Could you elaborate on that, @_that?

In another thread someone said he could get out of that wipe screen simply by waiting long enough for it to finish.

I think I might be stuck in this as well, is there any way to get out of it? I am able to do an ADB SHELL but I have no idea what to do next, ADB REBOOT BOOTLOADER does not work...
Thanks!

Doesn't sound as if he can get into the bootloader for fastboot.
_that seems to have it right (as usual).
Just read about someone who factory reset from settings with CWM installed and couldn't get out of recovery.
He solved it by letting it do it's thing "for hours".

I came here after searching "Android spinning cog TF300T" (and a lot of shouting at my tablet).
I have CWM installed and stupidly wiped from system instead of the bootloader (I have CM10 installed).
I got all p**sed off with my tablet after the spinning comatose Android r2d2 so I chucked the tablet on the seat of my van and went for a coffee. I read this while enjoying an americano at Cafe Ladro - I came back to my van and the tablet has restarted. It took about two hours of just "leaving the damn thing alone" for it to work.
As a side note - thank you to xda-developers for this and tonnes of other resources I've used. You guys make me, my Asus TF300T, and my multiple HTC Vision / Desire Z / G2 devices happy! :good:

Great that you got your tablet back, but just for the record: Wiping from the bootloader would have had the same effect as wiping from Settings! [emoji12]
Use your RECOVERY and only your recovery once it is a custom one.....
