[Q] US-Cellular HTC 7 Pro - HTC 7 Pro

Hey there, although I am versed in jailbreaking iPhones and androids, I have never touched the wp7 section until recently. I bought my HTC 7 Pro from US-Cellular a few months ago, and would love to unlock it. I've read up on the HSPL/RSPL guides and the flashing firmware guides, but I have one main concern. In this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647 it states the supported MID's are PC92xxxx but mine happens to be PC93100. Is my phone compatible with this method or what should I use inplace? Phone stats:
PC93100 SS-BC (4K)
SPL-4.1230513.1(139525)MNG
MicroP(LED) 0c06
TOUCH A1(v10,20)
Radio-1.53.00.08.01
SD SANDISK 15193MB Class0
Partition Info-v211v413
This is my only working phone atm, and with christmas season sucking my dry I can't afford a new one. So I really don't want to screw it up and have a nice $230 paperweight. I know that with flashing ROm's to anything there is some risk, I'm just trying to get my bearings straight before heading out, you know? So if I could kinda get some info on if this phone is unlockable, and how I would go about it, it would be much appreciated. I would really love to get a nice 7.8 ROM or if anyone knows of one better, I would gladly be englightened..
Thanks in advance,
Brennon

Which phone to buy or not to buy

Ok so i have been an HTC guy for a while now but due to some customer service issues and my lack of excitement surrounding WinMo, i am looking for a new phone.
I have had most recently the Touch HD from HTC and now I have the branded TP2. I love my TP2 but its constantly crashing and i know Win7 is on the way and all kinds of new Android goodies as well.
NOW
my issue is this, i have looked all over the net and seen all types of phones but im not sure what i should look for next.
Is there anything coming that anyone knows of that is worth waiting for?
I have seen the Windows 7 phone due out next month, but its missing an entire row of keys that my TP2 has and I think i kinda like the number row on my qwerty so i think that phone is out. I like the Desire Z but same issue there as well.
Is there anything coming from another vendor maybe with Android that has a keyboard on it? What about the Nokia phones, the resolution is not as good but what about the phones?
I just hate to spend a load of $ like i have in the past on these UK versions of the phones only for them to suck like 6 months later.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
**Also some internal memory would be nice as well
**I also need to use the phone in the UK so the Droid stuff is not usable
thanks

[Q] Thoughts on a Mozart on eBay please

I'm considering getting a Mozart, largely as a dev device to play around with. So I wanted to pick one up pretty cheap. Then I saw this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160572515704
Any thoughts on it? The guys seems to be selling a few devices, each in this state. I presume this is Chevron unlocked and sideloaded with loads of stuff (apologies if my terms are wrong - new to WP7!). Would I regret this? Would it no longer get genuine updates such as Mango? Might MS block it altogether? I wouldn't be surprised if the guy got most of his info from here. Is he on here?
Thanks
Hey looks like a decent deal. However If you have about £50 more to spend i would recommend getting the samsung omnia 7 from german ebay, I got mine for £267 including courier delivery and thats the 16gb version, Already only have 4 gig free and only had it a week!! The extra space is well worth it.
They are unbranded brand new devices, mine updated to nodo as soon as i synced with Zune.

The phone is unlocked with chevron, and you will get all updates as the current version is 7008 as mentioned in the page, and you can update to NoDo officially, looks like a good deal
OK, great, thanks for the info guys.
Looks like an OK deal to me..

[Q] Please Help ME Find My Next Phone (Challange)

Hello, I need help finding the right phone. I have a budget of $100 and 3 weeks. I have a HTC Shadow 07 with WM 6.5 and Right now its on its last leg. Its back is being held together by hot glue and the vibration motor is dead. My wife said you need to get a new one and gave me a budget and a 3 week deadline. I LOVE MY PHONE but its time to move on to better things. Help me find a phone.
My likes,
*I like a complex OS like Windows Mobile but I'm willing to try Android.
*I want to try a touchscreen phone.
*I like to customize my phone like using different fonts and home screens.
*I like to be kept on my toes and being surprised with features, my shadow has kept me impressed for 4 years I still am learning what I can do with it.
*I like free apps, games and other stuff.
*I want wifi and gps.
*I want a micro sd slot.
*I have a plan on T-MOBILE so I don't need a contract.
*I don't mind used or refurbished phones.
My dislikes,
*I don't like Blackberry
*I don't like A Simple Phone like a base model phone.
Help me find a phone please. Thank you
Man you're really stretching for a decent phone with a budget of £100
I've got dozens of phones for testing purposes, iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows mobile etc.
I'm currently using a HTC Desire HD, highly customisable when rooted, however well out of your budget.
One of my previous phones, however, was the Samsung i8910 (Omnia HD). Hardware-wise it's pretty nice, it's got a great screen and you can install custom ROMs (check out HyperX).
You can play around with fonts, look, themes, and the nice thing is using SPB Mobile Shell gives it a really great interface!
I sold my i8910 about 3 months ago for £130 on eBay, but you should be able to find one which meets your budget.
Check it out ;-)
the sansung is a good looking phone but in america its $350 way over my budget. Its also a sprint phone I appreciate the response. Im still looking please help.

[Q] Opinion needed, thinking of buying Sensation

Hello guys,
I am thinking of buyin' an HTC Sensation to replace my old Desire (AMOLED), since I found a very attractive offer at a store near home, which is somehow cheaper than any of my usual online store and I can buy it with 1 year installment. The offer is unfortunately valid only for this device and not for SGSII, so not much of an option.
My main reason for upgrading my device from Desire is the pathetic internal memory of the Desire (beside of course better proc)...even CM7 partition, A2SD+, data2ext, etc. are not really solving this issue...
So...is there any big difference, if I upgrade to Sensation?
Edit: it is O2 branded device without contract, just the phone.
Or should I wait for EVO 3D for the bigger battery capacity?
Hmmmm.............
advice

I own a sensation but i would not recommend buying it at the moment since it is still locked. an android phone that does not have permanent root and no ability to flash radios or ROMs is quite boring for Android enthusiasts
I would recommend to wait until alpharevx or HTC release S-off patch, we have no ETA on the alpharev release and cannot know whether it will ever be released, and we have no idea of how HTC perceives an "unlocked bootloader" so we do not really know the kind of freedom the HTC S-off will igve us
Just sit tight and enjoy the show till HTC or alpharev make their move. I had the galaxy s-II before but i did not like it. But now i am starting to think about it again because i am stuck with a locked phone that i cannot do anything with.
dont get me wrong, if the sensation ever gets unlocked the way we want, its gonna be an iconic mobile for the android community

I understand where you are coming from Roudlouni but the point of the matter is he is getting a sensation at a very good price close to him, it isnt valid for another handset and he has found it attractive, the sgs2 is an ugly piece of ****.
at the end of the day ITS COMING. whether htc are unlocking the bootloader or alpha rev x is as he has already posted proof of s off.
the point is. ITS coming
Its not as if he sensation will never ever be unlocked. There is already youtube proof its S-off'd by Alpha Rev, we are just waiting for him to give us the S-off
so you might as well get it before its gone if you like it
its way better than the desire WAY BETTER.
Gingerbread already supports apps2sd. so thats not an issue at the moment.
but the dev section is about to kick off as soon as we have s off. my guesses are within the next week or two alpharev will release his exploit to S-OFF.
Your main reason of upgrading was the pathetic internal memory and yes the sensation has more than the desire. and once u get a custom rom on it you will be able to do much more.
head over to the SGS2 threads, the phone was s-off on stock and its been out for a few months, how many roms are there, the dev support is minor and small, hardly worth bothering, but guaranteed if its anything like the DHD threads.
The sensation thread will be crammed to suit your flashaholic needs
believe me i own a sensation it is a good device, just patiently waiting for S-off.

I have learned that there is no guarantee that these things will come. Either root is available now or it is not available now. I do not recommend buying a device now and expecting it to be upgraded in the future.
Many times a hardware vendor has promised an update that either never came or turned out to be a piece of crap. Many times people with great intentions have tried to put a 3rd party hack together and it just didn't work out the way they hoped.
I HOPE options for the Sensation open up in the future. Some may EXPECT it. But time will tell.
Coming from a real world user of the phone..its the best phone I have used on T-mobile system. Are there issues? Yes battery life is not the best but expected from this type of phone, I have a abnormal reboot issue that happens at time. The sense 3.0 seems laggy at times and the dumb T-mobile apps that are on the phone are annoying. But when the root comes, this phone should be one hell of a phone,
May I put some conclution from your comments?
For me, unlocked bootloader is very important, as important as permanent root, installing custom ROMs, etc.
I believe I should wait till htc has unlocked the bootloader, the price will also eventually go down in time....but by then, EVO 3D will be more tempting..

[Q] HTC Radar or T-Mobile G2x (LG Optimus 2x)?

Hey, guys, and thank you for taking the time to click on my thread!
So, the main issue I'm having is choosing between buying an HTC Radar or a T-Mobile G2x (I have a T-Mobile SIM with 4G data plan, so I need a phone compatible with T-Mobile's HSDPA 900/1700/2100 bands). Generally, the reason I picked these two phones is because of the CURRENT price range I'm looking at ($200-$300). These two phones fit right in there.
I wouldn't be having this problem if it weren't for my original HTC Radar getting stuck in a boot loop and eventually just completely bricking on me (please check this thread for more information if you would like more info on this issue I'm having: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2053262 ), but I am here now, and because my warranty expired with HTC on the phone, and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix this problem, it looks like I'm going to have to buy a new phone.
I've been doing a lot of research, and while looking for phones compatible with T-Mobile's GSM/HSDPA network, and I stumbled upon the G2x. I relatively enjoyed the specs as compared to my Radar, and the fact that it had a dual core processor also piqued my interest. I noticed that it could only officially update to Gingerbread, but I didn't get too concerned with that, since there are a lot of great developers here who have long since made roms for 4.0, 4.1, and 4.2.
I have experience with Android, having used an HD2 with AmeriCAN, Cyanogen, and other rom types, as well as currently using my Archos 101G9 with 4.0. I like the interface and I'm pretty comfortable with it, but when I got my hands on the Radar for the first time, I had fell in love with the WP7.5 OS. It was pretty much everything I wanted in an OS, and I was looking for when 7.8 would be available on it (if it would be). However, having to use my backup Desire HD (which doesn't support T-Mobile's network--learned that the hard way), I started to warm up to using Android a bit more, especially with seeing how large the community here at xda is in regards to it. So... needless to say, I'm a little torn.
---------------
---------------
Which do you think would be the better buy? Should I end up buying the G2x, which I could find on Amazon, even, for a good price new; Or replace my old Radar with another one, and try to wait for 7.8 or wait for an official release?
**Also, if there is any other better deals in my general price range ($200-$300), please let me know, as I am completely open to suggestions and advice from all of you, who are all most likely more experienced than me in this. Thank you all, again!
**Forgot to include that I also was considering the Galaxy SII and HD7, but I'm not sure if they would be worth it, due to battery specs (SII) and discontinued support for the HD7.
