Wi-Fi Tether on JB? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

No luck in Q&A with this.. please see this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35657887
It seems all JB roms..exept the one I'm on now.. seems like it works.. but drops the 4g signal icon.. hence disconnecting whatever device is connected.. very frustrating.. this baked beans rom keeps the 4g icon solid.. but all the other jelly bean roms drops signal during wifi tether ..and it seems to work fine on ICS..I have tried it with the built in wifi tether app.. and downloaded ones.. but it seems if the 4g icon is dropping..and it doesn't matter what app I use..

I'm running the 11/13 stable cm10 build, only nightly I've found with decent data and working wifi tether. Can't wait for cm10.1 to have it working, otherwise would be on that already. Depend on the wifi tether for my online ps3 stuff while at the gf's lol

this still doenst belong in this forum.
ive never had any data or tethering issues, sorry.

well I guess it's all stock jelly bean roms having this issue..I'm on jelly bean but I believe it's a CM mod based Rom right (BB6?) therefore not being totally stock.. the only thing I can think of.. all though I have no infinite wisdom on this matter lol
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

black bean is not a stock based rom, its AOSP/cm10 based. BB6 and CNA that you were using are older ROMS that havent had many recent updates with CM10 fixes.
you should try a slimbean, liquidsmooth, AOKP latest releases for 4.1.2 and see if it fixes your issues. There were data and wifi drops present early in CM10 development if i remeber right.

I'm on stock tw JB rom and tether works for me with a custom app I found buttttttttt it brakes wifi until I reboot.

Rom Suggestions? Really Confused

Okay guys, im relatively new here but I'de like to think I know enough to get around and rom properly
I'm currently on a RAT Locked Radio (UCLF6) and an ATT ROM ICS (Sky ICS 4.2F) and am looking to switch to an AOSP or AOKP ROM that is very clean, simple, and as stock AOSP as possible.
The main issue I am having with my ROM is that the RAT is locked and I really needed the option of turning off LTE because I am in a test area and I keep getting flaky reception due to this. So i know to flash a RAT Unlocked Rodgers radio, heres the issue:
I cant seem to find any info out there on which ROMs that are purely AOSP and will support the radio that I seek. I also cant seem to figure out which ones people are using the most.
So Android community, what radio / Rom combo do you guys think would work for me? I'm honestly confused and any input is greatly appreciated.
Not sure about the radio side of things, but I love the CyanogenMod9 Rom. Very slick. Currently in nightly. I would only use a ROM from the developers section. (i.e.- don't just download a from zip from some random site....)
Best thing is to follow one of the noob guides to a T.
Lots of bricked Skyrockets out there...
I run CM9 nightly builds with CWM as my recovery. Works great!
Happy Modding!

If you want pure ICS. Go with cm9. You can use any rogers radio along with it as long as its ICS based. So the radio for their official release should work perfect.

Didn't i hear that people would flash Rogers radio and it would allow the ability to toggle lte
I also think there is data code you can type in dialer that takes you to engineer mouse or something like that don't ask me that is all i know
oh and cm9 ftw paired with instigators kernel

Myself, I would like to try the official CM9 RC2. Just wondering what Gapps are and if it's needed or beneficial on the official CM9.
I just switched over to CM9 RC2
This rom is smooth but the battery life is terrible and the LTE toggle isnt working properly.
Can i flash Rogers radio over this? anyone have any tips or suggestions? will the radio affect the ROM?

Try the nightly cm9 and the custom kernal for it. Cymbaline I believe. Or embryo used both and haven't had any issues.
Sent from the dark side of CM9 on my skyrocket.
I prefer Instigators with the Bad ass Script.... runs awesome on RC2 or the current nightly...

[ROM] Which ICS stable ROM you recommend

Hi,
I see that its a while since that question has been posted ..So i'm asking it again.
I'd like to know which rom running ICS you guys like the most as i just got my Rogers SII LTE.
Also which modem you run (Rogers users).
Thanx for your posts and feedbacKs.

Haven't tried the venom kernel but I've got Instigators kernel loaded over cm9 on wife's Skyrocket and she loves it. She's very picky about things working right, so her silence is a very good indicator that its a good rom/kernel combo

I've been rockin seans sky ics roms since the very first ics leak, and his dragon base ( completely stripped down version with flashable zips for almost everything he took out) on the official AT&T build is second to none in my opinion. He updates very frequently so he keeps my savage need for flashing fulfilled
-typed erratically from my hacked and customized GS2 SR
Embryo 4.1
Embryo 4.1 has been my favorite, least buggy rom.. but I'd recommend running it with the stock kernel and not Cymbaline. I've seen a couple of users have issues with battery life using Cymbaline kernel, including myself.
CM9 RC2 with stock kernel, running perfectly on both a i727r and i9000m
I also run Embryo 4.1 and absolutely love it. The developer did a nice job with this ROM, nothing half baked and does update it. No bugs, very fast, battery is good and lots of features.
Is there anybody using Paranoid?
..So far i find it pretty good.
Any feedback?
I try and stay away from the aokp tons because I always have data problems. So I'm using cm9 rc2 nice and smooth

Stable OS replacement for stock froyo?

I have been using froyo since I bought the phone. I have been resistant to replacing it with a custom ROM because that always led me down a road of instability on past phones but from what I see of ICS, it looks like a very good upgrade.
That being said, the current jelly beans upgrade still has bugs (namely gps) so I was wondering if there are any previous OS replacements of gingerbread or is that are stable and fully functional?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
"gingerbread or ICS"
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Most stable and completely functional would be GB roms like Emancipation or Aeon.
ICS is also quite stable and functional, except for the 720 video recording being choppy, but if it is something you don't use then this could be the one for you. I would recommend cm9, uniyumaporn or remICS-ux
Sent from my sweet and buttery Infuse
most stable and smooth would be stock samsung gingerbread. but cm9 is also a very good choice(smoother than stock actually but no mhl). and gapps in ics are much improved. voice search in particular is way more usable.
I would suggest Aeon for stability.
There are still a handful of bugs on CM9 and CM10. Nothing that stops us early adopters...
if GPS were fixed JB
For stability I loved Emann. Then switched to uniporn until cm10 got GPS up and running. From my experience, as of now Scotts cm10 8/8 build with 7/26 gapps is running perfect for me. I haven't moved to the 8/10 build yet because I don't have use for the mtd partitioning as of yet. I've always had the mind set of don't change a running system. If new features come out in a later build I will definitely update to it. But right now my phone is running super smooth. With working GPS
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Don't go JB for at least a couple months. The builds are unstable and they come frequently.
I would go for Entropy CM9 as even if a new build is released you can just flash it on top with no wipe (keep your apps/settings)

Hello All,

Go to the development threads and seek your stable rom, stability is up to what you do with your device.
As these threads are way too similar to "best" rom threads, and they always become arguments over what rom is best/stable - This thread is closed.

Moving back from TW to AOSP?

i just read this on Clean Rom, and there said that if you flash a TW rom (the ones with the JB leak) you can get problems to go back to AOSP, i have been on AOSP for a while so im not sure if this is true or just a rumor, thanks in advance.
I switched between them yesterday and I didnth notice any problems.
But maybe you should wait for a more legitimate answer.

??

Well I've had my xoom wifi for about a year, its been good but since upgrading to 4.1.2 its started to get slow,
Opening links take a while and clicking things are a slow, takes a while to show keyboard and links don't work sometimes (takes a few clicks)
I know this has probably been asked 1000's of times but I'm thinking of installing a ROM and need a suggestion,
I need a stable ROM where just about everything works like SD card etc etc and few extras won't be bad,
I like to select my own quick settings but not important
But it must be quick, I can't handle this slowness.
I've seen a few ROMs but not sure what is solid, how are teameos or cm 10.1 ? Differences ?
And are 4.2 Roms worth installing even though they are not official from Google ?
I usually install a ROM and stick to it, I don't like switching between roms,
Thanks in advance
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk 2
You have to try them out. No one can tell how a ROM will perform on your hardware or if you will like it. However, I prefer Team EOS over CM10 because they have their own custom kernel and I like their overall customization options.

So there's cm 10 and cm10.1 or eos 3 or eos 4.
Are 4.2.1 roms ok any issues ?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2
4.2.1 is ok, but there are a few issues here or there. But they have pretty much been resolved for me, that may or may not be true for you. I prefer 4.2 over 4.1 but that's my preference.

I have been using [ROM][4.2.1] My Android 4.2 for Xoom Wi-Fi - for some time now. It is very stable and I have noticed performance increases over the stock rom.
