just rooted/unlocked, looking for something to flash. not looking for something with nightly builds, just want something faster that has everything working properly. phones a bit laggy right now, and was hoping to fix that (mostly dealing with messaging)
Well i recommend synergy even though it has nightly builds, it gets better every night
flashed synergy as my first s3 rom earlier this week.
Im really liking it.
Ive been looking at a couple others, but im happy with what I have right now. (r60 build)
Another vote for Synergy, here.

synergy is where it's at so far. until one of these JB builds are more stable.

I'm running Beans build 10 with lean kernel .5. I'd say it's pretty stable.
Running Synergy R64 from last night - holy awesome! My only issue is finding the right combo to get Google Wallet to work fully again. Have the prepaid card set up no problem, adding others - just sits and waits. When I flashed r60 I had to do a few tries (12) to find the right zip and build.prop settings to make everyone happy
another for synergy. just flashed earlier this week and currently on r64. for me it seems just as stable as stock with a bettery battery life and smoothness to spare.
I'm running CM10 and love it! Jelly Bean is awesome!

LOL exactly.
I flashed the root66 ROM ten minutes after the phone came out of the box (synergy was not out yet) & have never had any reason to flash any further (I have tried all the other ROMs except for CleanROM, but after testing I ALWAYS end up restoring a nandroid of the setup in my sig)
I debloated the setup totally. It is fast as hell, every single app etc. work perfectly, battery life is awesome etc.
running cleanrom. last time i checked synergy thread some had 4g issue.
I like it but has zero benefit from what i see to be rooted. gs3 in stock form is already fantastic.
i'd root to do nandroid backup but that's about it

Zero benefit?
Again, back to my previous argument. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
How about blocking ads and getting rid of the WiFi popups. That's reason enough to root for me...

Synergy is like running a better stock phone, it's amazing. The S3 is already so fast I've seen not much difference between it and a Jelly Bean system even stock.
What about stock rooted and the root checker verizon installed.... How do you block that on stock rooted?

You gotta be careful reading to much into the Synergy thread. I've dirty flashed every build from r23 with zero issues. I noticed a big performance increase with r23 but I got another big performance increase with r64! This phone is unbelievable right now and Ziggy is still working on more kernel magic.
I have not tried any other ROM since Synergy is performing so well.
P.S. I underclock my phone to 1350 with the XDA SetCPU.

Vote clean rom. Fast, smooth, good battery with clean kernel
Clean Rom + clean kernel was great for me.
i wanted to check Jelly Bean and I must say it's really good. Seems stable to me, I don't know if I could go back, JB is nice.
I love my TF101 and I have always had the cutting edge ROMs on it and just accepted any bugs that it may have knowing I can flash a different one later.
Due to my dad going out of town for work and me not needing my TF, I said he could take it to use to browse the web.. He doesnt need it for anything other then that. He has a GNex so knows the basics of how to run ICS/JB. but he is not about to go root anything..
I want to know what is the best and most rock solid ROM to put on my TF for him.. Like once I hand it off to him, everything should work 100%.. No SOD, RR, or any other issues like the dock not charging, etc.. I need to be able to hand it off to him with a Rock solid Daily Driver ROM that just works.. I dont need any crazy customization or anything fancy..
I personally had ran CM10 and AOKP on it and loved both of them, but they both had bugs that wouldnt fly for him..
Would I be better off going back to stock? Is AOSP rock solid? any other ROMs out there that have 0 issues that a nontechie could use?
I recommended you to flash back its stock firmware. As you see, your dad using a stock rom on Gnex. It will lot more easy for your dad to use a stock firmware.

Makes sense.. Just crushes me to take it from JB back to ICS, even though he wont know a difference, it makes a difference to me.. I was hoping someone had a rocksolid rom to avoid me flashing back to stock, but I will probably end up doing just that.
Go rooted stock ICS with G, s 22.6 kernel. Little OC'd to 1200.
I put both the oldies on it and no drama.. Been 5 months..
I just did a trip back home as OS
And checked it.. All good..

Usage isn't the problem..It's bugs in a Rom that he can't deal with. I will flash back to stock and rock a different kernal. Thanks for the help guys.

I recommend Revolver 4 Rom by Gnufabio, it's rock solid and with Guevor kernel v23 it really flies
Jelly Bean: Team EOS Jelly Bean #74 (With K.A.T kernel)
Has all the good stuff like trackpad cursor, launcher buttons work(and notify when they have been used), very smooth
ICS: Revolution or Revolver
Just as solid as the stock firmware, just faster.
CyanogenMod 9 Stable is what I use and found it to be stable as the developer says I understand the desire to test out the latest and greatest but not to actually use it as your main operating system since it's still in the testing phase and has bugs such as crashes, locks ups, random shutdowns/reboots etc personally I would prefer to just temporarily test out the latest and greatest then go back to what's stable.
Hi, just bought a GS3 Verizon. I want it rooted, and working without well known bugs.(GPS, calling, almost no bugs) I prefer 4.1 jelly bean. What ROM should I choose? The ROM based on the leaked VZW ROM?

Stock deodexed j1 touchwiz...if you look around you can manually add what mods you want. I prefer this over flashing the custom touchwiz rom variants....seems less buggy and smoother imo.

I've been having good luck with Synegy's latest. Smooth, good performance, good battery, and just enough added functionality over stock to make it work well.
I liked clean rom, jellywiz, and my current rom tasteofbeans 3.1. They all were :good:

What about using separate mods makes it less buggy?

Because you flash them 1 at a time and if you flash one and it made everything bug out you can just nandroid back. If your on a ROM with a crap load of tweaks and mods and something goes wrong you're just screwed until the dev can figure out which mod he added is causing the problems. A lot of the time the mod bugs are left alone until all the big bugs are worked out and then they track down what's causing the smaller bugs

Hello, so far I stuck with stock roms... first ICS now leaked JB... I really would like a plain vanilla jb rom still retaining the great features of the SGS3... can anybody point me in the right direction?

No such thing, as vanilla android is unaltered, i.e. the nexus devices.
I would say that cyanogen mod is probably as close as you'll get. Aokp is close too but has much more customization options.

There isn't one. Use cm10 and don't use the customization. Also you will not have the s3 features like motion controls, camera, etc.
You're best bet is to try a couple out and find what works for you.

I'm gonna work on building vanilla JB rom as soon as the semester ends......don't have enough time till then :\ Should be convenient timing as a lot of the leg-work is already complete
I've already started working on one, but its not looking very promising so far. Its really really difficult getting the build to cooperate, and then once I finally do get it to cooperate thenaybe it won't take too long to get some of the initial kinks ironed out so people can start testing. But at least if I cannot get the bugs worked out enough to post it for people to use there is someone else who will begin working on it shortly. So hopefully we will have a pure AOSP ROM soon, one way or another.

Omega ROM
Give Omega ROM a try, there is an optional to remove all SGS3 default bloatware that comes with it when you flash the ROM.
I am using it because this ROM is having all other SGS3 features like the motion control, stock camera, etc.:good:

Giving my wife the White Galaxy S3 Verizon for Xmas and wanted to get recommendation which stock based ROM to install?
1. Hyperdrive
2. Jelly "Beans"
3. Axis
4. stock Verizon 4.1.2
5. other 4.1.2 based
I'm primarily interested in rock solid stability, and some of the Touchwiz experience. She might be getting the Note 3 in the future so I want her to get used to using some of Samsung apps. I have a second S3 for me and I'm testing 4.4 roms, currently installed CyanFox. So please keep discussion relevant to 4.1.2 roms and experience. I know 4.3 is out for Verizon, but I'll wait for Devs to build it into ROMs.
thanks and see visist my blog

Lol! Can't go wrong with those.
Light and clean (more optimized, less theming):
Tkrom, bonestock, cleanrom, obsessed
More heavily modified (extra mods and themes,):
Hyperdrive, goodness, axis, jellybeans, moar, wicked sensations, the people's rom
I'm maybe leaving a few out, but look them over and see what you want. If you want something simple and easy you can't go wrong with the top 4.
Some phones handle roms better than others, so if one isn't working out well then don't be afraid to try another.
I also want to point out that you have to make sure your wife's phone isn't on the 4.3 base (vrucml1). If it is, do not flash any custom roms, that bootloader is completely locked down.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I've tried every single 4.1.2 TW rom out there, and my phone seems to run the best (least "Touchwiz" lag) on Hyperdrive with faux kernel. Completely stable, too. I also like the multitude of changes you can apply. However, you really can't go wrong with any of them. They all are great!
Like the above comment mentioned, make sure the OTA wasn't taken, although you probably know this.
They are all great, try them all.
As XDA is not a support site, users are expected to make this determination based on their own, individual use.
