I have successfully flashed Touch Wiz based ROMs but every time I try to flash anything else the GAPPs file does't flash right or the ROM in general soft boots. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am currently running CleanRom 5.0....runs perfectly. But I can't get any CyanogenMod or AOKP roms to flash properly. I use clockworkmod recovery 6.1 (something like that).I am on the lastest radio and modem. I have never flashed a kernel.
What is gapps are you trying to flash?
Sent from my SCH-I535
Gapps are only got the Aokp and Aosp roms. No need to flash then with TW roms. That may be your problem.

That's right....TW stuff works fine, Wonder if I need to change kernels or when using EZRecovery should I take different steps from the TWiz stuff???? Yes I wipe everything...yes I format system. I did use TWRP one time and it was a disaster but I'm sure I just did it wrong.

You should just use the ex recovery to install the recovery, I use cwm, then boot into recovery wipe everything, flash ROM, flash gapps reboot and enjoy. Make sure you used ez unlock version 1.2 from rootzwiki and you should be good. Like I said what is the file name of your gapps seen people use old ones that caused problem.

The GAPPS I flashed was the one that the instructions for installing the ROM told me to flash. Hard to remember the number because different ROMs had different GAPPs. EZ Unlocker 1.4? You may be on to something. Not sure which one I used because I hadn't loaded it back on after the last flash. But it is possible I used the current version instead of 1.4. Should I install the correct version....do a lock and then an unlock? And try again?

I decided to flash cyanogen mod. I downloaded a stable release from rom manager onto my sd card, booted into recovery and now I am stuck on the M. And of course you can't get to cwm to restore a backup unless the devise boots, I tried pulling the battery to see if it would boot into cwm like it was supposed to but it doesnt. So looks like I need to flash and I have no idea how to do that on this phone. So if someone could link me the files and give me some basic instructions to follow that would be awsome.
Thanks

Finally back up and running it took me some time since wifi didnt work on .608, so I followed this procedure. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23207-how-to-sbf-unbricking-root-d2g-629/
It works good for unbricking, a little complicated if you dont have a data connection like me and wifi doesnt work on the flash, so I skipped ota and lost root but oh well. I can root again tomorrow. So does anyone know what could have possibly happened when I flashed cyanogen mod through cwm because thats what caused my brick.

unless you know the build history, roms from rom manager, should not be used on D2G

I did follow the droid bootstrap instructions I just figured I could flash anything for the droid 2 honestly I didn't know that the global and regular droid 2 were that different guess I learned that the hard way but at least I know now and I learned how to root and sbf all in one night.

I don't see a gapps link, in this thread
which is fine, but if you flash wrong one, you may bootloop
cm roms do not come with google apps like play, gmail....
how long did you let it run, sometimes it can take a couple of mins, to boot first time
you may need to also wipe dalvik cache in advanced, that was recommended many time for D2G roms, but will add time to first boot

Honestly is Cm even good on the droid 2? Because at this pint with all these failed flashes and the phone not being able to get into cwm like a regular phone it makes it harder to get back because you can't just restore a nandroid back up. So in your opinion is it honestly worth it, or are there better roms out there for this phone?

Out of all the flashes I have tried it boot loops and its annoying to have to go and flash in RSD because I cant boot into recovery like I can on a normal phone where the recovery is overwritten. So with all these bad flashes I have kind of given up on this droid 2 and its just on stock rooted. Usually when I boot loop on my continuum i just jump into recovery and re flash with this phone I cant.
why are you using rsd lite? how are you rooting?
just use D2G_4.5.629_SBF-and-RootCD.iso

Hoping someone could help me out.
I just flashed and installed CM10,

I can still make calls and text, but can't use my mobile data at all.
Any ideas?

Hello and happy new year everybody!
I compiled stock k2_ul kernel with linaro toolchain, just for fun. And I'm sharing it
I tested it personally and on my phone it seems to work fine. Anyway, let me now if something doesn't work.
if you're S-OFF, just flash the attached zip
if you're S-ON, flash the zip, then reboot in fastboot and do
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
from computer.
Features:
- Compiled with Linaro Toolchain
- Unsecure system
- Debuggable
I'm not responsible for any damage you make to your phone.
have fun!

No, it doesn't.

Given the similarities between both K2 variants it may very well work. If you wish to test it then I advise booting it vice flashing it. This way if it doesn't go so well, you can reboot the device and your original one will still be in place without being overwritten. Below is the command to boot vice flash:
fastboot boot boot.img
Edit: if you do it, please report back here with updates.

Yea, I get that, but the above command will boot the boot.img instead of flashing the boot.img. Flashing will overwrite the specified partition with the other img, where as booting it will keep the original, and in a sense, virtually boot the other img and will run it until you restart your device in which your device will go back to using the original img already stored on your device previously.

Hey, I have been flashing stock kernel ROMs on my new HTC One M8 without any trouble, except for when I want to run ARHD 8.1
I am on 4.4.2, fully rooted and S-Off, and the flash and AROMA installation breezes through no problem.. the phone goes black for a while then comes back on in TWRP .... from there i reboot, and when it brings me to the Android setup screen i cannot continue due to persistent error messages stating that "Unfortunately com.systemui has stopped" .. another process or two also stop and persist via error dialog (SmartcardService i believe is one, i can double check if i really need to).
I am forced to 'adb reboot recovery' through command prompt and restore my nandroid backup.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thank you.. :cyclops::good:

I am having the same exact problems. Errors keep popping up after the install. Tried wiping in recovery instead of aroma still didn't work. I'm on firmware 1.55.605.2. Very perplexed. Could be that the firmware needs to be downgraded to match the firmware of the rom. For Verizon, their last firmware update was what i said above. This particular rom is based off firmware 1.54.401.10. Not sure if this has something to do with it, but would love to find a solution as I really want to try out this rom.
