Hi, I am trying to figure out how to do a couple mods:
4 way Reboot menu
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052687
The CRT stock screen off animation
It seems some of these require deodexed roms... Can you do this to the stock rooted Jellybean?
Google Wallet... Ugg what a mess it seems WTF Verizon!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044362
Anyone guidance from someone that has had success would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks Again

Do you know if there is a stock Deodexed version of the VRBLK3 rom? I haven't seen one yet.

Deodexed framework/app files for the 3.4.2 GB Froyo release.
Flash the package via clockworkmod recovery (Install zip from sdcard option)
If you have removed apps this will restore them back to stock, so you will need to go in an remove again.
Enjoy!

Sweet!
I am currently running the default T-Mobile UK firmware, I've been more nervous about flashing the Defy than the Magic due to root issues in the new Firmware.
Look forward to giving this a try.
I have searched the forum but couldn't find an answer..
What is the benefit of having deodexed files?
Thanks
I believe it allow's you to custom theme it.
This is the answer I found on the droid x forums.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/18275-what-deodexed.html
I will stick to the defaults, as I am trying to determine why the UK version is so much more smoother. But keep up the good work
What jygar says, I also believe it helps with efficiency, however the theory would suggest it would have the adverse effect.
If you look for my frozen eclair thread you will see a link to a good explanation of what deodexing is/does
How I understand it, the only reason for de-odexing a build is to allow for easier modification, i.e. theming. Apart from that, there are no stability/efficiency/performance gains to be had.
As I do not plan to make any such modifications, I'll leave my 'Optimized DEX (ODEX)' files as-is, and not de-Optimize them
Working 100%!
Thanks for your work Higgsy!

This is for froyo, if you are using frozen eclair then I guess you are still on 2.21 or 2.34 eclair rom
Thanks for the files. Works flawlessly.
Hi !
I would like to download this and give it a try...
Can somebody re-upload it ? I can't download it from there.
Maybe a Megaupload link ?
Thanks

Hello,
I was trying to replace the touchwiz mms application with an AOSP mms. Something went wrong and of course I forgot to back up my original mms.apk. I have tried to install AOSP mms.apk's off the forum but I can not get any of them to work. I am putting them in the correct directory and the permission are rw-r-r but still whenever I click the messaging icon the phone just vibrates once and then force closes. Could someone please post preferably the AOSP mms.apk that will work on the GS4G or if not that one just the stock mms.apk that came with the GS4G. Also, any tips on how to get it to work would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks as always!
What firmware version are you running? And are you running the Odexed or DeOdexed version?
Here's stock samsung KC1 deodexed version if thats what you need.
I am running stock, rooted kd1. I should just be able to drop the.apk in the app directory, right?

I just dropped this one in and it works, thanks a ton! Now that I have mms back, does anyone know of an AOSP mms.apk that works with this build?

RaverX3X posted an ODIN flashable 2.3.6 stock ROM in the Developer section. It's the same files that came from Samsung via Kies Mini. It is not modded at all.
I believe the OP is talking about Vanilla Android, no skins like Touchwiz etc...Airfluip's AOSP may be the closest visually, but to my knowledge there is currently no actual Vanilla Android.
Well the OP can always get a 3rd party launcher with an AOSP theme.

Vanilla Android, as I understand, is what is straight from Google and doesn't have customized interfaces or apps that the carriers put on the phone.

Exactly....
I thought vanilla is part of ics...
You can get raver's odin 2.3.6 and use fbi251's debloater to take out The T-mobile ****.

Ah, misinterpretation on my part. Was thinking stock, not vanilla per-se. Thanks for the clarification.
Vanilla Android = AOSP
with the way samsungs ROMs are built, we probably won't have a true AOSP rom, but Airfliup has done a pretty good job at making a ROM that looks and feels like AOSP. It's in the dev section, so check it out.
Thanks for all the responses guys. Yeah, im looking for a true vanilla rom and i tried using the stock gingerbread launcher but it seems a little laggy to me ontop of several roms that i have tried. You would think since the nexus s is so close to our family a vanilla rom would be easy to port over. Oh and do you guys happen to have a link to Airfluip's AOSP? I tried searching for it but came up with no luck. Thanks again guys

There really has to be something wrong with your search function...
Not to mention it is on the first page in the Galaxy S 4G Android Development section -
AOSP Style 2.1

Yeah i saw it right after i got done searching. I went browsing through the development forums and it was on the top ha ha. Thanks for the link though
Do you guys happen to know if there is anyway to port a rom from the nexus s as it is a similar device to our galaxy s?
Hi all,
I'm trying ROMs for my Nexus S and I'm not a big fan of all modifications...
That's why I'm looking for a light ROM with no tweaks or MODs.
Any idea ? I can't find this.
Thanks !
What you want is stock OTA rom right?
I don't know exactly what's the name of what I'm looking for.
Is there rooted OTA ?

Yes, look in the development section. You want a rooted OTA or AOSP ROM, though a most of the AOSP ROMs have a few minor tweaks (optional power toggles in the notification drawer, etc).
I tried some AOSP.
I'll search for a rooted OTA. Thanks.
guys i need help, i have stock jelly bean 4.1.1 on my nexus s, and i wanted to have that black bean or inverted messaging, contacts and calendar for my phone, i tried using someone's help and i ended up restoring my phone twice, once i replaced the original one and then used twrp to flash it, but everytime it said messaging has stopped unfortunately need help regarding this please, if someone can help me get a few pointers how to replace my apps with inverted ones, hurts my eyes too since i have weak eyes
PS yes i'm rooted
Why don't you just flash blackbean or some other 4.2.2 rom that supports dark-toggled gapps and system apps? What's hindering you?

well because they're not probably as stable as the stock rom? is what i've read probably ... if it is then i'll give it a go, and i have twrp by the way, it's the easiest to work with in my opinion, can it be done using twrp? i've had bad experience with cwm
