Bout time, cant really find a phone that with a better radio and easy of use rootwise than the tb plus the darn thing will run any app and setting I toss at it.
If they only would hurry up and updrade it or shut up and admit that they built a monster that they cannot code for.
Its okay to admit failure you f'ing retards. Its the first phone of its kind and you were not prepared for it. (i.e. HateTC and VZW)

Of course they have happily provided that to TBolt owners for almost 2 years now.
Yes I still rock the Thunderbolt. You gotta problem with that?

That is certainly true but I also suspect that HTC wouldn't bother devoting any resources to developing s/w for a phone if a carrier has even a remote chance of shooting it down.

My understanding, right or wrong, was that HTC/VZW released some T-Bolts with an ICS "soak test" to around maybe 100 people? I applied too late to get in on it. The phone came with an NDA that apparently was almost iron clad as there were NO leaks at all until after the test ended and the test phones were returned.
It's my belief that the TeamBAMF leak was from one of those phones, someone may have copied it to his/her/it's PC and leaked it AFTER the test had closed and AFTER he/she/it had learned how to remove the identifying bits so that he/she/it wouldn't be subject to enforcement of the NDA.
I may be wrong, the above is merely pieced together from what I've read here and elsewhere.
FWIW, I ran the leak and had the usual short battery life BUT..... Later I restored the backup I'd made and, after a couple of days, the battery life improved a huge amount, it became about the same as other ICS ROMS.
As always, YMMV.

Sent from my ThunderBolt using xda app-developers app
At this point, I would be pretty surprised if ICS was released at all. I found that ICS, combined with Sense 4, is too much for the phone to handle smoothly. And I'm sure it would be worse when the typical Verizon bloat is added. Some work could probably be done to make it smoother and more power efficient, but I don't think that struggling HTC has any motivation to expend development resources on a phone that's rapidly approaching its second birthday.
Most Thunderbolt owners are able to upgrade now, or at least will be in the next couple months. Most people probably will -- and might even get a DNA. At least that's what HTC hopes!
I blame HTC for turning their backs on their customers and I will never buy another HTC product. They probably won't be around much longer anyway.
They have promised ICS for the Bolt several times before. I got tired of waiting, upgraded to Droid Maxx HD. 3 days after buying it Verizon pushed out Jelly Bean. Wow it was nice to actually get an update that fast!!!!

If they wanted me to get a DNA they'd have given it a removable battery and an SD card slot, as it is it's totally useless to me.

So after 4 days of persistence in calling AT&T Customer Care and Warranty, I am going to be a proud owner of an Inspire!
Had the Captivate since initial launch, plus 5 returns! They are doing a "one time only" make/model exchange through warranty.
I'm excited to say the least! I think the Captivate was a great device, just not reliable enough for me. I spent the last 6 months dealing with random shutdowns and frankly had enough!
Glad to see people are enjoying the phone!

Cool that you got them to replace your captivate... I wasn't willing to suffer through three more replacement phones before even having a slight chance of getting them to swap... paid Off-contract, with no regrets.

I was exaggerating a bit in my prior post.
You SHOULD, IMO, spend some time with your phone as is. In fact, I didn't root mine until near the end of my 30 days.
You want to "burn in" the phone, making sure everything works (no mfgr defects), first. You want to be able to distinguish between "not working right because I got a lemon" and "not working right because of a root/flash gone haywire."
Not to mention, it's more of a hassle (but indeed possible) to revert the phone to a warranty-returnable state should you discover a mfgr/production defect after you've rooted.
That point of reference of how the out-of-the-box phone behaves, stock quirks and all, is important.
I'm just now gearing up to flash my first custom ROM ever, and I got the phone on 03/02, so being patient for the sake of being better prepared is a good strategy.

A lot of my friends and family have been iPhone owners for the last few years, and I can finally say that my phone is the envy of my inner circle now. The Inspire has it all: beauty, brains, and brawn.
My phone arrived via UPS yesterday afternoon, and I set to rooting it as soon as it was fully charged. This was my first root, and the hardest part was making the Gold Card. I would recommend using the Gold Card walkthrough on theunlockr.com Website for the Gold Card. After you have that created, use Bubby's One Click (it REALLY works!). I'm sticking with rooted Stock ROM for now because I like all of the HTC stuff, but I wanted to use Titanium Backup to remove the ATT bloatware. Mission accomplished!
So att goofed and sent me the handset only accessories arrive tomorrow, so I should have a working inspire tomorrow night!

I literally folded my Crapsung Craptivate in half then tore it into two pieces on Monday night, got a call from my local AT&T store, and my Inspire is in stock, picking it up after work.
Then I'll use the awesome 8mp camera with LED flash to take a picture of the Crapsung Aggrevate and use it in the "How to fix the sh**ty samsung phones" guide I'm going to make.
I also jumped ship. I find the Inspire a far far far superior phone to the captivate.

Samsung or ATT?
We don't know who is holding up the update, do we? It could be either Samsung or ATT. It's so frustrating that Ice Cream Sandwich is supposed to be released within the next few months and Infuse owners don't even have Gingerbread yet.
its the captivate all over again, over emphasis on updates(2.2 works fine for me), and a carrier that doesn't care about updates. why make the infuse their flagship and not push samsung to update it? i mean motorola got the atrix updated and att doesnt push that phone as hard, htc also got the inspire updated, att doesnt give a dan about that phone. but i really think it is samsung who wants to push updates only after a new device is released (sgs2!) and only because they want the new device to look beter the the "old" one
Bottom line here is simple: don't ever buy hardware in anticipation of future software releases (with the exception of a Nexus device). Once the device is sold the manufacturer really has no obligations to ever have anything to do with it again except for warranty services.

Truth be told I have an atrix ( which I love, great little workhorse ) and a infuse coming monday, Also have a droid incredible, and a inspire, and a few others laying around,
But the funny thing they all do the same thing, just some slightly faster than the other, etc.. right now even the droid incredible/nexus 1 still is plenty fast for gingerbread... and does everything those new dual core beasts can do.. for me its gonna boil down to design and the screen, much like when i used to shop for a pc/laptop.. <----hardly use those anymore, too. my 2 year old asus still runs like a champ. guess my point,. is choose what you like. dont get caught up in specs and hype. ..

There was word JB would be pushed to International Versions of the S3 but I guarantee Verizon will be the last US Carrier and probably the last of the S3 phones to push the JB OTA.....
Samsung, vzw, and google all have to sit around in a room and stare at a gs3 that is sitting on a table in the middle of them for 6 months. They will literally have a team of engineers and marketing people just sitting there staring at it. The vzw guy on the team will have a thumb up his ass for reasons unknown. Their budget will be nearly unlimited. Meanwhile a few guys in their spare time and no budget will have a port running almost perfectly 2 days later. That 2 days happened the other week so we have over 5 months to go for an official release.
My bet is that the build's done. It's probably 95% identical to whatever is on the Note 2, with S-pen stuff being the only difference.
Now it's on to the carriers, which as we know (T-Mobile leak) some already have it nearly complete.

Well I just came from the gnex boards and a new leak is out for vzw gnexs with new radios and possibly jb. So I'm gonna say we will get jellybean 2.5 months after all other s3's have it. I'm unlocked, rooted, deOdexed, & modded so I don't want it (unless anyone can confirm it won't affect any of that).
Any quick way to do away with the notice and have it not come back? Maybe edit the build.prop?
I'll peek around in the build.prop in a bit when I have time to see if anything jumps out.

Yogi that say .10 does anyone have a Zip flash-able upgrade to .14? I am getting the upgrade note, Also I know(belive) we can fastboot restore stock recovery, is there a flashable zip somewhere containing this aswell?, Thanks in advanced
Just installed here too. Verified still 4.0.4 so no JB. Nothing obvious for sure and it seems to be running the same to me.
I've been searching for the lowest prices for the HTC DNA and stumbled upon this deal and figured I'd share it with you guys.
The HTC DNA for only $119.99... probably the best deal out there right now.
If you use coupon code TALK4TEN it MIGHT lower the price to $99.99, but it didn't work for me. Anyways, I figured it would maybe be worth a shot for you since it has worked for many other people... but it MAY have expired.
Enjoy guys.

That price is so low, it's like a trick you play on old people!
I just posted this.
Why would anyone buy another HTC phone after this? Maybe you'll get Android 5 in 2015.

More like the latest jelly bean a year after it's released, then an announced update to key lime pie that never arrives.

I recently decided I'd just wait for the M7 in February.

The thunderbolt is horrible I can't believe I'm stuck with this cricket like phone!

My Thunderbolt is not horrible. I am a power user and while I have had problems with mine, the worst issues were with custom roms. Data drops were fixed with a new SIM card. I do have an extended battery that lasts all day. I was ready to throw this phone against a wall when I kept having issues with different roms. I had to remove root because the company I work for requires MobileIron to connect to our exchange server. Since I have been back to factory condition the phone actually works pretty well!

Agreed! I love my TB. I have flashed so many ROMS i can not even keep them all straight. I have been stuck with Liquid ICS for a few months and it has been FANTASTIC! I flashed the most recent dual radio last night and hope it clears up the data in/out issues i have had. I would love them to fix the video camara and netflix at some point but from what i read Liquid isn't working on the project anymore. Is that true?
I have an extended battery and with Liquid i get at the very least 16 hours of use including some standby time. Liquid's rom made a world of difference on battery life.
In any case i am fairly new to this forum. Played over at CM with their rom for a while and still have it on my Touchpad. Love that rom!
Anybody know of a good rom for Droid X by Motorola? I rooted and installed one on my wifes a few months back but know it isnt perfect. I cant recall what it is at the moment but if anyone has had a good experience with a Droid X rom please share.

Droid DNA , GalaxyIII and Galaxy Note 2
It looks like that same website (justmywireless.com) is having a one day only sale on the 18th.
They do not show the promotional prices yet
Judging by the reply in the blog, I am assuming it's going to be a big sale
I've been wanting to get the DNA, I guess I will wait until the 18th
Thanks for the link

As a DNA user who loves his phone, it's arty if you're going to wait till the 18th I'd wait till the m7 odds announced on the 19th just to see if and when it's coming to Verizon. That's just me, but unless you're hellbent on the DNA, ous wait to see if the DNA+ it's right around the corner.

I went back to the site (justmywireless.com) to see if there were any hints as to the sale price. They have it in sneak peek mode...I picked up the DNA for me and Galaxy 3's for my wife and son.....I paid $160 for all 3!!
They even have Galaxy 3 (white and brown) renewed units for free with upgrade....I was seriosuly thinking of going that route for my son, but in the end paid 44.99 for his new one.
The m7 is going to be priced too high I'm sure, that's why I didn't wait.
What is the catch here?

I remember hearing that the deals on wirefly and amazon were so good because their penalties were so high and because they technically count as a premium reseller, and thus you have to go to then with warranty issues and whatnot instead of going to Verizon. I wonder if this reseller is the same.
