[Q] Question about Alternative keys on Jelly Bean 4.2 Keyboard? - General Questions and Answers

So at the moment I have 3 stock android 4.2 keyboards on my stock rom S3. One is the apk that was leaked, the other are the two available on the play store. They are all similar, but I was wondering why only the keyboard on the "Johntanmi" version had alternative keys on every key, while the VLLWP and APK only have alternative keys on the first row, that are just numbers?
I attached some comparisons, just curious to see what version is actually stock android?

I dont think that's possible until the Jellybean update comes out for TouchWiz, you could try the Swype keyboard, it doesn't have handwriting mode but Swype is nice on it. Lol Go to Swype (dot) com to get it.
I need your help..
Touchwiz and AOSP does not integrate...framework is completely different. if you dont like the jellbean keyboard try swift key from market!

Who's help?
I suggest you try swiftkey 3 from the play store. There's a 3 day trial I believe
If you don't swipe at all then swiftkey is good. but if you swipe then you'll want to try Touchpal Keyboard

[Q] Keyboard & alarm apps from 2.3.6 in ics

Hello.
I do love alarm as well as keyboard from a stock firmware 2.3.5/6 (it can switch languages by swiping the "space" key, what is very very convenient). I tried to copy stock apps, but they don't work in ics. Is there any way to make it work?
I would also be interested in the 2.3.6 alarm app on ics. Is there any way to replace the stock with this?

Android 4.2 keypad for Galaxy note.

Hi there, many of you might already be aware of this but just to make it to notice for people who still did not get this awesome jelly bean keypad. I have been typing this whole message using the same keypad and it rocks. You can either flash it or just use it as a standalone app. Links for the two are provided. voice input works perfectly using this keypad.
Screenshots are provided.

Love the keyboard. Using now. As it builds up a pattern of my use its prediction seems to get better. Most of the time one ,or two letters and the word is up. LOVE THE SWIPE! With the big letters

Better do not flash it untill you have taken back up of samsung keyboard. But then again, sometimes flashing does not work. Better install it as standalone app. I have done it like that and it works excellently.

This is not one of those apps available in play store. It is the one ported from 4.2 jellybean Which is still not released and its an excellent one. We will see this once 4.2 is released.

Just install it from the Play Store. (Yes, it's the 4.2 keyboard. Not 4.1)
where is the link?
Sorry guys, the links are dead but I have the apk file and I will attach it in next post. I don't have it stored in my cell as of now.
I have personally not tried any other language other than English, but yes there is an option to enable Swedish.

Here is the APK file.
Here is the APK file attached. By default it has many languages listed in its language setting. All we have to do is enable them in language settings. I have not tried any language other than English. But yes, Swedish is listed too.

yes Swedish is almost always possible to enable so I get all the letters of the alphabet. that's not the problem though, the problem is they aren't swypable.

Downloaded and trying this keyboard. Response is quick, and auto correction is faster and more accurate than Swype, with the odd quirk here and there. I like the way you don't have to double circle over a letter to get the word to come up like you have to do in Swipe... For example, the words odd and letter were quicker to enter. Prediction and context seem to be much better as well. I like.
Not perfect:
Cannot see entire forum text box on my screen
Glitches while trying to go back and correct text
visibility of alternate characters, numbers still on separate page (would prefer a separate line of numbers above the letters, since a lot of modern text like passwords have numbers intermingled with letters).
Still, auto correct is pretty fast... I think this will be my go to keyboard!
I'm using stock 4.1.2
Does it has this keyboard coz the screenies looks same

[Q] 4.1 launcher on 4.2?

Hi guys!
Recently i switched my tf101 from eos3 to eos4 (i did it after TeamEOS introduced tablet ui mode) and i stuck with "phablet" UI of stock launcher itself. I tried to replace launcher2.apk from 4.2 with apk from 4.1 but all i got was force closes =(
Are there any means to set 4.2 stock launcher to tablet UI or install 4.1 stock launcher?
p.s i know about Apex and Nova launchers, but they all have small annoying flaws.
As far as I know, it's not possible without modifying the apk package. You can give it a shot, there's some decompilers available, but it was beyond my coding skills and time I was willing to invest. The launcher is usually tied with the version of android due to lots of differences in the code in major versions, so I'm assuming modifications needed to work properly are extensive... but I could be wrong.

Thank you for your suggestions.
TeamEOS 4 #116 ROM has returned the Tablet bar style launcher like 4.1 had, you just change to "Tablet bar" in settings

[Q] Stock keyboard app

I am using a custom rom and I am glad because I hated all the bloatware in the stock rom but the one thing I miss is that "keyboard" app that when you are typing on the qwerty it generated a little bar of suggestions based on what you had typed. First question can you install that on a custom rom or is it like the circles widget and will only work with stock and if it will work can anyone point me to someplace I can download the apk?
Well I think SwiftKey has similar "suggestions" with what you are looking for...? I'm not sure if any will work with the physical keyboard tho.
I know there are other keyboards with predictive text features but the stock keyboard for the photon Q you dont have to have an onscreen qwerty keyboard on the screen to use it. When the phone is open it appears as just a small sliver at the bottom of the screen enhancing the physical qwerty.
Thank you very very much arrrghhh I decided to check out swiftkey despite you saying you did not think it had the specific feature I was asking for and it turns out it does. So for anyone else with a custom rom that misses the stock qwerty companion swiftkey does everything the stock app does and honestly for anyone using stock i highly suggest swiftkey as a replacement anyway.
