[Q] Confused about ROM options for Atrix2 - Motorola Atrix 2

Hello,
I have an atrix2 on ginger bread all stock (AT&T US). I have not yet updated the the official ICS since that would prevent me from going back to GB.
Now, what are my (best & safe) objective options?
1. I see the thread about getting on ICS leak-1.
--1.1 ICS leak 1 the best ICS version to be on for now? What bugs does leak 1 have?
--1.2 What is leak2 if there is one?
2. Are there any other ICS based ROM's that's like tested and known good? I get overwhelmed with all the threads out there on Roms.
thx

Leak 1 should be the best stock. Leak 2 is the new kernel which prevents you from downgrading to GB I think.. Numa is the newest ICS ROM and its very smooth and nice imo..

Actually it is not the kernel that is different and prevents downgrade. It is the updated bootloader that prevents downgrade to GB.
The kernel is still 3.2 on both leak 1 and leak 2/ota.
The bootloader is up from A0.72 on leak 1 to A0.73 on leak2/ota that is the culprit.

New OTA Root Version

Can someone please post the rooted OTA? Not the leak.

Id like that also, por favor. Gracias.

If they were different, they would have. The leak BECAME the official update...
So the camcorder wont work after changing kernels?

The leak is the same exact file as the ota. There is no difference. Most of the time when a leak comes out, its the ota file that will be released unless last second issues are found.
Changing the kernal will not work unless the ota/leak is made (baked) into a custom rom. An ota/leak that is just rooted, deodexed and so fourth is technically not a custom rom, its just rooted. The original kernal would have to be used..

Thanks for the explanation. I rarely use camcorder, so no biggie for me. Great rom dude.

If nothing's changed since the leak and official OTA then I'm staying away since I was experiencing random reboot with the leak.
The camcorder on bully desensed works fine and it's on the leaked base.

How long did you run the leak for. Most times when you update the rom or flash over it(without a full wipe), it may reboot once or twice to help it settle in. if it reboots after a week or so then it may be an issue.
After I flashed the leak, it rebooted once within the first day and has been fine since...
My version of the leak has a working camcorder, Ginger BreadRock v3.2 & 3.3, its listed in the developement section

Stable OS replacement for stock froyo?

I have been using froyo since I bought the phone. I have been resistant to replacing it with a custom ROM because that always led me down a road of instability on past phones but from what I see of ICS, it looks like a very good upgrade.
That being said, the current jelly beans upgrade still has bugs (namely gps) so I was wondering if there are any previous OS replacements of gingerbread or is that are stable and fully functional?

"gingerbread or ICS"

Most stable and completely functional would be GB roms like Emancipation or Aeon.
ICS is also quite stable and functional, except for the 720 video recording being choppy, but if it is something you don't use then this could be the one for you. I would recommend cm9, uniyumaporn or remICS-ux

most stable and smooth would be stock samsung gingerbread. but cm9 is also a very good choice(smoother than stock actually but no mhl). and gapps in ics are much improved. voice search in particular is way more usable.
I would suggest Aeon for stability.
There are still a handful of bugs on CM9 and CM10. Nothing that stops us early adopters...
if GPS were fixed JB
For stability I loved Emann. Then switched to uniporn until cm10 got GPS up and running. From my experience, as of now Scotts cm10 8/8 build with 7/26 gapps is running perfect for me. I haven't moved to the 8/10 build yet because I don't have use for the mtd partitioning as of yet. I've always had the mind set of don't change a running system. If new features come out in a later build I will definitely update to it. But right now my phone is running super smooth. With working GPS

Don't go JB for at least a couple months. The builds are unstable and they come frequently.
I would go for Entropy CM9 as even if a new build is released you can just flash it on top with no wipe (keep your apps/settings)

Stock LB3. I use it for stability.

I made the switch to Paranoid Android 4.0.4 ICS a month ago...
Best move I've EVER made.
In my opinion, it works far smoother than stock ever did for my phone. =D
...about to try the Jellybean update... I can't wait!

Hello All,
I have been using my Froyo Inuse for a long time now, and it is now showing it's age, with more aps not working anymore as they get new versions. Can someone lead me to some instructions about how to go about upgrading from 2.2 Froyo?

Here go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523 this is the UCLB3 gingerbread 2.3.6 the option C is rooted with CWM recovery you need to flash the gingerbread bootloaders too, there you will find the instructions to flash this update and the program to update your phone (odin)

Go to the development threads and seek your stable rom, stability is up to what you do with your device.
As these threads are way too similar to "best" rom threads, and they always become arguments over what rom is best/stable - This thread is closed.

The ICS leak #2 is the same as the SOAK ICS, which to my understanding is also the same as the official ICS OTA. And yes, you can run SCv7 and other ROMs that were made from the ICSL2 build on the ICS OTA...

Synergy Rom Question

In the Verizon Android Development forums in the Downloads list thread it says that Synergy is a ICS rom but the Synergy thread said it was Jellybean based. Can anyone clarify which it is so i can install the proper kernels and such.
Depends on which release, there are both ICS and JB. The older being ICS and newer being JB. I'm on Release 118 which is JB.

R77 was the last release of ICS, all the later releases, ie R118, are JB.

You can install only kexec based jb roms
It doesn't matter if its ics based or gb or jellybean coz it loads different kernel so you would be able to boot it up if u have booted kexec version earlier
