I'm not sure whether or not this has to do with the rom I am using (Tweaked 3.1) but i've noticed that every single time i'm in my car and turn on the bluetooth...my music just starts automatically playing from Play Music. It was opened in the background or anything either...as soon as bluetooth gets turned on it just starts which is really annoying if actually want to talk to people with my phone...I looked through all the settings for play music, bluetooth, android, tweaked and everywhere on my phone but couldnt figure out for the life of me how to disable that from happening. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

do you want it NOT play at all, or just not autoplay? there is a setting within the bluetooth menu to disable media connection.
are you using an app for your bluetooth connection? for example, I use vlingo, and each time my phone connects via bluetooth, that app is set by default to launch.
Just dont want it to automatically start playing when I turn on bluetooth. I use HeyTell a lot for talking to people so id rather manually open Play Music and start playing songs myself if so desire later on. I figured there has to be an autostart option somewhere but i cant find it. I actually also cannot find that setting to disable the media connection in a bluetooth menu...where might that be?
Not using an app for bluetooth, just turning it on through the settings in Android on my Charge. Not sure if it makes a difference that im rooted using Tweaked 3.1?

first, I would try clearing defaults in Play Music.
secondly, to adjust the media output, once you have a bluetooth connection, go into your bluetooth settings and long press your paired device - then select options - from there you can adjust the media connection.
as for me, I leave BT on all the time (doesn't cause significant battery drain while being on an unpaired in my experience).
Cleared the defaults in Play Music and checked the settings when i long pressed on my paired Mazda. I tried just turning off the media connection but then I couldnt do the other things I wanted. I didnt see any other settings for it either anywhere. I'm wondering if it has to do with my Mazda auto starting the music maybe? Or is that not possible... I suppose I can just try leaving bluetooth on if theres not going to be much battery drain...but lately ive experiencing lots of battery drain about 6-7% an hour without me even touching it.

What about the in-car app? Otherwise, try downloading a Bluetooth app like vlingo (free). And then see what happens when the phone makes the connection to your car. You should get one of those default app menus.
tappin' that....
Cool I will give that a try, thanks for the help!

I have to force stop the Music app (poweramp). tried factory reset but no real difference. Also on the sony mex bt3800 I have, it will display icons for streaming and calls, well sometimes (of course) only one of those will turn on. Re-paired still doing it. grrrr.

I have the Mex-bt2800. You can turn the music streaming on by pressing the pause/play button when it's it bluetooth audio mode.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using the power of the dark side
Yeah, you'd like to think so, hit the arrow for play on poweramp right?
Well not quite as, if you start the car first then switch bluetooth on (you know powersaving) the message will display that the headset connected message then on the stereo , mostly, only the icon for media streaming will appear and the only reliable way to have both streaming and calls is to switch off bluetooth on the car stereo then switching it on again.
Froyo connected all time without issue and so did the 3GS i had previously.
The poweramp issue came about if you already had music playing through the internal speaker, started bluetooth, (you get the streaming media Icon on stereo) , then there would be no sound and poweramp would act if it had paused but no other button would work until it had been force stop. have only found time for a liittle bit of testing so can't tell much more about symptoms.
any other suggestions welcome

Still stock. Might root and see if those other roms make a difference. Saw comment on ace root kit thread about something new coming out on that so may put up it until what ever it is announced. Be nice to get rid of the att bloat too.
So no matter what application I'm using on my Radar and how I exit the app, i.e., just pause, back all the way out, etc. the music starts playing again when I turn off my BT headset. I've tried looking through settings to no avail.

That's odd. Music should automatically stop playing when your bluetooth device is shutoff.
It should not automatically start.
Please describe every detail of what you are doing, connected to, etc. Order and timing might be important.

Starting with phone idle
Turn on Bluetooth headset
Verify it is connected in Settings
Back out and go to a streaming app (has occurred in slacker and metroradio)
Stream music for any given amount of time
Either pause music, pause and back all the way out, just back all the way out, etc.
Shut screen/put in pocket
Turn off bluetooth headset
Music starts playing from phone speaker
Bump - happened again tonight. This time I paused from the lock screen just to test. Paused -> Screen Off -> BT off -> 10 seconds later, music starts
does it happen if you shut bluetooth off before shutting screen off?
Does it happen with Zune as music player ? Also does these apps have any settings for this kind of situation.

I don't use Zune. The only setting in Slacker is if I want Radio to resume automatically when Bluetooth is connected and that is turned off. Metro has nothing.
BUMP.........
You need the app "Stop the Music!
I had the same problem on my Lumia 800 today.. so awkward.....
I was at work and use a Logitech bluetooth docking station, playing music was fine, no problem at all.. I work a shoppingmall and while on my break I went in the another store just next to mine. A really hot girl works there and this lyrics came on highest volume:
"I'm fat, I'm Single, I'm ready to mingle"
here's a youtube link... Never been so embarrassed in my life, I managed to save my ass but only just! A fix would be superb!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpJooV7RrMk
I've had the same issue with the background audio from Podcasts! Pro. It doesn't do this with Zune. I'm guessing its an issue with the way the background api is being implemented.
Another thing i've noticed, when it switches to or from BT, the audio picks up from the last point before BT is connected. Example, if I'm listening to an hour long podcast, and I get 23 minutes into it before switching to BT, even when I listen to another 20 minutes of the podcast, it will revert back to the 23min point once BT is disconnected.
Same issue here
Hi,
I'm having the same issue here with a Mercedes B180 built in Handsfree and Lumia 800.
It happens with Wimp, not Spotify.
As a matter of fact music Streaming is not working at all from any app to this HF.
However: BT with my combination is ok for Contact Transfer and Phone functions so it's not a catastrophy, but....
One other thing: When turning ignition off, ongoing calls are disrupted and not returned to the handset...
Nokia Support said that this is a issue caused by them using the Microsoft BT Stack for Music Streaming while probably Mercedes is using some other (Widcomm, Toshiba...)
BTW: I've used iPhone in this scenario and it works fine with all functions.
Hi,
Another question:
I have BT in my car. I also have car charger.
When I connect phone to car's BT and start to charge the phone, music starts to play through BT from phone.
How can i disable this automatic turn on of music player on phone?
Tell us something more!
Which musicplayer are you using!
Is there StockROM on your device?
Are you using apps to manage BT-connections?
...
Yeah, sorry, forgot to copy paste this:
I'm running 2.3.5 VoiduS 3D v1a [PROXUSER] with Sense 3.0.
Application is standard music player, nothing fancy from my side.
As far as i know, i dont have any apps managing my BT..
Needed some time to find that ROM, a little bit old one! You havent got updates this year
May a try on a ROM with regular updates would make sense?
But now to your problem:
I never used that ROM, so standardplayer there is HTC-musicplayer i can see on proxusers thread?!
I can't find any options in standardplayer where to choose an option to start music automatically after connecting to BT-device!
Following settings i find on Stock-Sense-ROM, so on yours it could be a bit different:
In "settings/wireless&networks/BT-settings/bluetooth devices" you can find paired devices!
Hold the device of your car, a popup will apear. Choose "options". Untick "media".
May it helps. Otherwise there also could be an option on your car's device which you'll have to tick/untick!?
Hmm, this MOD was only one that didnt explicitly demanded full wipe of my phone.
need to look into new MODs, I'm just too lazy to set up phone from the scratch again, since i already have all the settings i want set up.
As far as cars BT settings are concerned, i just tested removing paired device from car BT system and re-adding it with only phone function, but once i save it it automatically adds music function too. I guess phone demands a music function :S

I've got a weird problem with my Nexus 5.
When I listen to audio (typically with BeyondPod, but also with Google Play Music and ES Media Player) the audio sometimes pauses.
After a while I have noticed a pattern. It appears that the playback pauses when the device connects to / disconnects from a WiFi network.
I have also occasionally experienced it with WiFi switched off. I haven't analysed in detail when it happens, but it appears to happen when GSM connection is acquired / lost.
Is this a 'known problem'?
Is there any known workaround?
I get this with streaming app Spotify.
I've put it down to a kernel issue, I'm using Franco kernel and some other users have mentioned it also
Used to have this problem with the Franco kernel as well. Don't have the problem anymore now, but can't explain why.
If you are streaming, then of course changes in connectivity will result in an interruption, no? I assume the problem does not occur when playing music located on the device?

True! But I should have been more specific.
This is happening when listening to music offline so they are local files.
I read an idea that the phone prioritises the switch from WiFi to Data (this is the only time when my stutter occurs, leaving the house and coming back) and so music playback stutters very briefly as a result.

Ah, that's why I asked. I seem to remember reading somewhere that when playing music with Google Play Music, the app requires connectivity even when playing local files. If that is indeed the case, then connecting/disconnecting could cause the interruption. So, I suppose the next step would be to test with a music player.
Further clarifiaction
Just to clarify further:
What I'm experiencing is not a 'stutter', but a pause. - I have to manually restart the playback.
I only listen to 'local' media - not streamed. I don't know how it reacts when streaming.
I'm using stock 4.4.2 (rooted).

As I drift out of WiFi range and into data my streaming music doesn't pause. The song loads at the beginning I assume and ends up seamless during the network transfer.

You're probably right - it must at least buffer ahead.
I am having the exact same problem as the OP. I get pauses whenever my Nexus 5 goes from wi-fi to cellular, cellular to no signal, etc. It happens with many different apps like Pocket Casts, Google Play Music, DoggCatcher, Poweramp, both streaming and local file playback. Drives me nuts, especially when I am in the car. Used to happen with my Nexus 4 too.
The ONLY fix I have come up with (I am completely stock/un-rooted) is to download podcasts or playlists and play in Airplane Mode. This completely fixes the issue, but is not practical as I have to stay offline whilst listening to audio.
Also worth noting, it doesn't happen when I am playing local video files, e.g. a video podcast. If there is anyone that can help please do as at this rate I am going to have to start carrying an iPod touch around, and I have enough gadgetry already.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this. My guess is that there must be some app that receives a notification when the connectivity changes, and for some reason pauses playback. Maybe if we can cross-reference installed apps we could find the offender?
Is there an easy way to see what apps are installed?

I used to use Tasker, but I don't any more.
I tried to use 'Autorun Manager' to see what intents are captured and by whom, but I quickly got lost...
No audio skipping/stutter when using Spotify offline mode after turning airplane mode on.
Suddenly the problem disappeared!
I was clearing out a bunch of games that the kids had installed, and then I realised that the problem was gone!
I haven't done any serious analysis to pinpoint the culprit yet, though.

I may have to try to analyse it again, as the problem reappeared suddenly this morning! I haven't installed any new software for weeks, but it could of course be part of some update.
So my setup is a 2013 Ford Focus with Sync and a Google Pixel. The Pixel is paired to the car and as soon as I start the car by default the phone connects via Bluetooth and all sounds from the phone can only be heard if I tell Sync to use Bluetooth audio. So any notifications, maps directions, etc are silenced if I'm listening to anything but the Bluetooth audio connection through Sync. So I manually went into the Bluetooth setting on the Pixel and turned off Media audio so I still get phone calls automatically through Sync but can still hear directions, notifications, etc via the Pixel's speaker. But then I decide hey I want to listen to Pandora, Amazon Music, etc. and now have to go back into the settings and turn back on Media audio, which isn't really a safe thing to do while driving so I wait until I hit a red light or make a stop and turn it back on. What I'd like is for either a quick shortcut/widget type of thing that can automate that task of turning Media audio on and off, or some app that can detect I'm using say Pandora, etc. and make the switch automatically. I've tried googling, but can't quite seem to find anything that does this. I found apps/widgets to switch Bluetooth completely on or off but that isn't what I'm looking for, I want more granular control over Bluetooth settings. Any suggestions for an app that can help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Figured it out after a lot of googling
In case anyone else is trying to figure this type of thing out, Tasker and Bluetooth Auto Connect are going to be your new best friends. I was able to eventually fumble together a solution that can do the following every time the Pixel connects to Sync:
-raise the media volume to max
-turn off Media audio by default
-turn on Media audio if I open a streaming music app
It's not super intuitive and it doesn't work flawlessly (most likely because the way I've got it setup needs tweaking), but it does work very well most of the time. I'll just have to keep playing with it till I get it perfected.
Also of note there is a Google plus community for Tasker that is a huge help if you're trying to learn how to use it or need help.
That's what I do also. However, instead of Tasker, I use Automate by LlamaLab. I like Tasker a lot, but Automate has hundreds of pre -written routines already created by the community.
