New android hosting FREE - Android General

Okay dev's,
Here it is:
Free hosting for android developers for the following devices:
Iphone (with android in bootloader)
Samsung galaxy SIII (all varients)
Motorola atrix (all varients including photon)
HTC evo family
MT6575 /6577 varients (china phones)
General devices (may or may not work)
Others may also be used but too lazy to make a huge list.
Here is what I am doing; this will be a free service to the first 20 developers that contact me. What this is is absolutly free webhosting for all android ROMS only.
What you need to do to qualify:
-Be a dev. (Duh lol)
-Have a somewhat popular ROM
-Be able to provide either source or the root system partition files. (Will be doing checks randomly for malicous ROMs)
-ROM must be under 1GB (during upload)
What is not allowed on the server:
-viruses or malicous ROMs
-GAPPs
-any copy righted or trademarked files
-bootlegs
ROMs can be ports but gapps is not allowed on the server UNLESS cooked with the ROM first.
Have any questions feel free to PM
I expect to have this service up and running within the next couple days.
Specs of the server are:
200GB HDD
4GB ram
50Mb/s download max
No limits bandwidth
Etc
Its not the best server but it will get the job done more quickly then most filehosts.

[Q] Call Recording + Custom ROMs

Hey there Guys (and Gals),
As many of you are probably aware, call recording on the Android platform is quite a mixed bag. Some devices support call recording (two sided) out of the box. Others only record the device stream leaving the caller side audio only being recorded from the mic (which means very low volume). While others that may not support call recording out of the box, can be made to do so with either a Custom ROM and/or a patch.
What I would like to do is to start a thread similar to what was created for Windows Mobile devices where we compile a running list of Devices + Custom ROMs + Patches that have been confirmed to allow two side call recording.
We have compiled our own list of Android devices that our users have confirmed support call recording to a certain degree, but due to frequent use of Custom ROMs and patches, it's relatively inaccurate. Here's what we have so far:
- Acer Liquid 100
- Droid Eris
- Droid Incredible (may require speakerphone)
- G1
- General Mobile DSTL1
- HTC Evo
- HTC Dream
- HTC Hero
- HTC Legend
- HTC Magic
- HTC Tattoo
- HTC Wildfire
- LG540 (reported on OS 1.6)
- LG GW620 (reported on OS 1.6)
- LG Optimus One (reported on OS 2.2)
- Motorola Charm
- MyTouch
- Samsung Galaxy (OS 2.2)
- Samsung Vibrant (partially confirmed, please test first!)
- Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 / Mini
Unfortunately even on this list, it's not as simple as it looks. Some require very specific application settings to get call recording working, which can include the timing of the call recording, among other things.
With that said, it would be great if everyone could give the following feedback on this topic, so we can finally create a rock solid list of Android's that support this very important functionality. Please post ONLY if you are able to record both sides of the call with decent quality OR if someone has listed a Device/OS/ROM/Patch combination that is not working for you.
> Device Model/Variant
> OS Version
> or Custom ROM version
> Link to said Custom ROM
> Any additional Patch you feel you've installed that may have affected your ability to record calls
> Link to said Patch
> What call recording app(s) you were able to record using (as well as any special setting that was required, if any)
I'll monitor and maintain this post to ensure we end up with a clean, accurate list for all current and future Android users looking for this functionality. And of course, feel free to use our Total Recall application to test, which comes as a 14 day demo. If you require an extended demo, just PM me with your IMEI so I can refresh it for you. As an added bonus, if you do use Total Recall to test and are the first to report a specific working Device/ROM/OS/Patch combination, including the URLs to the custom ROM and/or patches, I'll give you a free license for the app.
Big thanks guys, I'm sure this will benefit us all!

Galaxy S2 HD LTE (SGH-I757M) - Resources

Phone Model: Samsung SGH-I757M
Phone Provider: Bell Mobility
Provider's Phone Name: Galaxy S2 HD LTE
The Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE is a mouthful. I say this in both a literal and joking way. This powerful is totally worth the cost for those who are not sure they are ready to shell out the money for a Samsung Galaxy S3. The model contains all the best hardware features of virtually all the S2's out there and packages them into one device. It is likely that Samsung expected to release this unit way earlier than it did. Only a few months shy of the S3, it has quickly become dwarfed in Bell Mobility stores.
Still, there are many of us who appreciate the phone. XDA does not have an official section of the page for the phone so often finding resources can be difficult. This thread is intended to be a resource guide for all those with the phone.
I free welcome additions to this page. As valid (and functionally tested) apps, mods, roms, and themes are shared with the thread, I will update it for all.
ClockworkMod Recovery
There are a few options out there for ClockworkMod Recovery for the the S2 HD LTE. It is in my opinion that dsixda here on XDA has the most efficient version for the phone.
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.1
by dsixda
* There have been some issues reported applying ClockworkMod Recovery to the phone after applying the Bell ICS Update.
Bell ROMs
For the time being you can find stock ROMs on dsixda's ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.1 page.
Custom ROMs (Android Firmware v2.3.6)

Stock ICS Launcher, Calendar and Messaging (SMS/MMS) apps!
by Timmmmmm
Theses are perfect stock replacement options for the Calendar, Messaging, and Launcher for those who are less of a fan of what Samsung has to offer. For those using the Bell Samsung ROM, you will find wallpaper issues with the Launcher and will notice that you cannot disable/remove the native Messaging app (without disabling the phone's ability to send/receive messages.)
Jelly Bean Keyboard port - Beta 1.2
by appelflap
For those who prefer more of a stock keyboard, this is my personal favorite so far.
Mi File Explorer v3.0.4
by apooonet
This file explorer is simple to use. Its graphical interface is far the best option out there.
Mi Sound Recorder v1.3 (MP3, OGG)
by apooonet
Samsung provides the phone with a sound record however it is limited in comparison to this handy app.

[Windows app] Android defragmenter 1.0 by arter97

OK.
If you're not a noob, you may have heard about defragmenting.
In the old HDD days, defragmenting does a quite a job at improving system performance.
And still, defraging HDD does improves a bit.
How about SSDs(or flash-based memory)?
THEORETICALLY, it does improves. Because file blocks are close together.
Which is why I've come up with an "REAL" Android file-system defragmenting application for Windows.
I've fully ported Linux's EXT4 defrag bash utility to Android.
(It wasn't hard and all credits goes to kolivas )
(AND please do not ask me about shortening NAND life when defragmenting.
It's up to you to decide. What I can tell you is, it won't "seriously" affect your devices life.
If you're gonna use your device more than a decade, don't use this application.)
This app is only tested on ICS, Jellybean with ARMv7 processor.
Other variants may not be supported.
Putting up a mirror or uploading this application to other websites is prohibited.
DOWNLOAD : See image below. XDA doesn't let me post URLs yet
(Ignore all the korean letters and go down! You'll see the link)
(My server has very low traffic capacity. If the site goes down, try again tomorrow. Again, don't post mirrors)
And if you appreciate my work, please click on the ads!

[Q] Custom Android apps market

Hello everyone. I'm new here at XDA (long time reader)
I'm a developper (soft, web, mobile) and I have a specific request.
I got approched by a friend who works for a mobile phone carrier, and asked me if I can develop for them a custom Android market for the stock phones they sell to their customers (mainly chinese low cost Android smartphones and tablets) for local (country) developped apps.
It's a big project involving a server side (THE market) and a client side (the android app).
For the server side, I've got no problem since it's a standard, common thing.
Now I'm studying the feasability of the client (the app) and my vision is not clear...
- First, I will get the support of the manufacturer which is good.
*Now correct me if I'm wrong*
- I think the app will be a sys app
- The app should be signed with the ROM key (obtained from manufacturer) so it could install APKs bypassing Android secuity (not sure if it's enough though).
- The app will have Install_apk authorisation (among others).
- The app will call pm install package (so it'll display the package authorisations) .. not sure about this too.
- How about pakages updates ??
- Finally I'll send the app to the manufacturer to include it in the ROM.
Thank you for your help !

[Service] Buildbox! : A generically named service for developer use - Registration te

#update 6-25-2018
Temporarily closing registration as server storage limits have been hit faster than I expected.
Will be working on solutions to duplicate data and will be adding more storage.
Once this is completed, registration will be re-opened.

Hi!
I am hosting a custom server that I have been letting friends use who need a beefier rig for development projects. Server has matured to the point that I am willing to now allow other developers to apply for an account.
I created this initially as a way to give back to developers working hard on the LG V20 but it has since grown into something more.
Users will have 24/7 access to the machine via RDP, SCP, SSH currently.
New services are being added and expanded each month.
Users can have webspace for sites, nextcloud storage space, may request virtual machines for various projects, etc. etc.
Eventually there will be proxies and vpns setup and allowed and we also take suggestions for new functionality.
The server:
- Ubuntu 18.04 Server LTS w/ live patching
- Dual Intel Xeon X5680 CPUs @ 3.33ghz/12mb L3/6.4QPI for a total of 12 cores and 24 threads
- 40GB of DDR3-1333 RAM (board maxes at 192GB and that is my eventual goal)
- 240GB PCIe SSD scratch disk using F2FS for temporary storage which is good for about 700MB/s sustained reads and writes (for improving compile performance etc)
- 4x1TB RAID5 on an LSI controller with 512MB of battery backed cache currently good for about 400MB/s sustained reads and writes
- NVidia 1050GT 2GB PCIe x16 GPU for GPGPU compute projects
As it currently stands, the box can build a complete Lineage OS system in under 1.5 hours (that last benchmark was before I added the SSD so that time may be reduced even more) and a kernel in 1.5 minutes (again, this is before the SSD..).
Planned upgrades include memory increasing, more storage, better GPUs etc.
System is on a permanent symmetrical 250Mbit fiber connection with it's own permanent static IP.
If you wish to have access to this, please send me a private message and we will determine if you are a candidate and will set you up an account.
Feel free to post any questions.
This is a FREE service. I am not requiring any form of payment.
I want to give back to everyone who makes my Android experience that much more awesome and I know a lot of developers are in countries where beefier hardware is expensive or hard to obtain, can't afford better hardware, or may have better hardware than buildbox but would like something they can start a task on and walk away without having to keep their personal boxes up.
We do have strict rules on illegal activity.
Anyways, let me know if you want in!

Wow this is great! I will try this out.
This is super generous, thank you for your service.
I second what @i95swervin said this. This has been great and appreciate it big time. thanks @helf
Hi! I would be interested in being able to use this service, I've been working on Le1s device, and now my personal cloud credits are over, I would very much like to be able to use this service! I do most of my normal work on my personal system, and need the server to build stuff quickly(which is the tricky part for personal machine)
Thank you!
Nice

Alright guys. Hit limits of the system as it is currently configured. We are working on software and hardware upgrades. Once those are completed we will open up registration again. It may be a couple of months. I won't be able to complete some of the hardware upgrades for another 60 days due to some policies I have to adhere to when it comes to recycled hardware.
I'll update when the rig is available again.
